Huawei and Ericsson have signed a long-term global patent cross-licensing agreement that covers patents essential to a wide range of standards such as 3GPP, ITU, IEEE, and IETF standards for 3G, 4G, and 5G cellular technologies. The agreement covers the companies’ respective sales of network infrastructure and consumer devices, granting both parties global access to each other’s patented, standardized technologies.
“We are delighted to reach a long-term global cross-licensing agreement with Ericsson,” said Alan Fan, Head of Huawei’s Intellectual Property Department. “As major contributors of standard essential patents (SEPs) for mobile communication, the companies recognize the value of each other’s intellectual property, and this agreement creates a stronger patent environment. It demonstrates the commitment both parties have forged that intellectual property should be properly respected and protected.”
Over the past 20 years, Huawei has been a major contributor to mainstream ICT standards, including those for cellular, Wi-Fi, and multimedia codecs. In 2022, Huawei topped the European Patent Office’s applicant ranking for number of patent applications filed, with 4,505 applications. At the innovation and intellectual property forum Huawei held last month, it announced that licensing revenue in 2022 was about US$560 million. This is testament to the industry’s recognition of the value of Huawei’s IP.
“Our commitment to sharing leading technological innovations will drive healthy, sustainable industry development and provide consumers with more robust products and services,” added Fan.
Huawei is both a holder and implementer of SEPs and seeks to take a balanced approach to licensing. Through the signing of this agreement, it is both giving and receiving access to key technologies. Fan said, “This agreement is the result of intensive discussions that ensured the interests of both patent holders and implementers are served fairly.”
The Huawei Mateview 4k monitor is their latest piece of kit to hit the market and having something like this has been a no go in my home for some time now but since I have go a specialised desk which a review of that will be coming soon this may just fit the final finish of my setup at home which I am eager to get done quickly in the new year so I need to decide if one or two screens will be enough working off two laptops, one is a chromebook though which for me is essential and less of a resource hog as windows is just a PITA and I use the Windows laptop for very little these days being honest.
The screen is fantastic on this also with this is noticeable immediately alongside your laptop I tested with both my chromebook and Matebook X pro which is also a superb machine considering it is windows and given I hate windows it ran pretty fast on the Matebook X pro compared to some of my own laptops here which I took out of retirement to compare and hands up I was impressed with. One of my laptops did cost over a grand and it was a much faster machine and not old and I just got a dislike for windows in general but using the Matebook X pro kinda made me think even spending that kind of money on a laptop you expect pretty much top tier performance in fairness.

The Huawei sub-brandHonor, has made a name of itself thanks to affordable yet impressive offerings like, last year Honor 8.
But what we weren’t expecting was seeing a redefining of “Budget Smartphone” with the presentation of their Honor 6X at CES.
This is not the first time we talk about this phone here, and you can see every little detail on the link above.
What was a complete surprise besides the official U.S announcement was the price tag.
Although we made some rough calculations on how would it cost to bring the phone over Europe or America there’s always some kind of extras that made to the final price. But this time Honor maintained the ridiculously low price tag leaving it on the under $300 budget.
$250
That’s all you need to keep your hands on this excellent phone that packs almost anything you may ask.
With pre-orders available since January 4th and official sales on January 15th in the U.S and being already from now in Europe, the phone saves a good place among the best budget phones of 2017.

Over the past few days we have been using a new slate from Huawei and so far what we have seen within this time-frame we have been mighty impressed with a gigantic 4100 mAh non re-moveable battery, you will struggle to kill it,even for heavy power-users, this is where in most phones let us down but not here..
With a solid construction surrounded by metal again build quality is premium, with its chamfered edges and slight curve on the back it sits comfortably in hand despite its 6 inch dimension its just 7.9mm thin, The screen is also sporting Corning Gorilla glass 3.Lets take a look at the device first in pictures, click to enlarge and then we will talk some more.
Running on Android 4,2,2 is a bit behind but still it works quite well with Emotion UI 3.0 and there is literally tonnes of settings and quirks to personalise your device, there is some preloaded content but not really a problem,With a 6 inch display and thin bezel media content is a joy to watch on this behemoth,it feels smaller than the Nexus 6 and most tasks simply zip along with no lag. The 13MP rear snapper is quite good with plenty of setting to play with for camera fans so there is no worries in this department,With a 5 MP front camera it passes for the selfies but that would be it.The well placed fingerprint sensor is a great idea and uselful in more ways than one,it can also be used to snap photos too,With 2GB RAM andQuad-core 1.8 GHz Cortex-A15 & quad-core 1.3 GHz CPU IT has proved no issues multitasking and with the option to expand up to 128GB via micro sd there is plenty of space to stack this device with content and not fear about battery.. Check out our walk-through of the Mate 7 and if you have any questions fire away..The Ascend mate costs between €380 -€500 euro depending where you, look, for the price if you can get it cheap its worth the money, every penny of it.
