The technology that improves gaming

Technology affects almost every aspect of our lives, from transport, to healthcare, communication, manufacturing and more. It’s in our workplace, our homes, and our pockets, and it’s hard to imagine life without it.

Things that would have seemed impossible a few years ago are now taken for granted. Lights are turned on with our voices, the heating is controlled via a smartphone and movies and games are streamed to huge flat screen TV’s.

One of the most visible and enjoyable areas that technology has improved, is gaming. When the computer games took off in the 1980’s, no one could have imagined the power and immersive realism afforded by todays offerings.

But what exactly are these technological advances and what impact are they having on today’s games.

Augmented Reality

Augmented reality gaming (AR) is the integration of games visual and audio with the players environment in real time. These games are typically played on portable gaming systems such as smartphones or tablets, in order to maximise the experience.

The most obvious and successful example of an AR game was Pokemon Go which became a worldwide sensation upon its release. By using a smartphones camera, gyroscope, clock and GPS, it created a unique location-based AR environment for the player.

The game sent players on the hunt for Pokemon monsters around their neighbourhood, and was able to display the creatures on screen in the user’s real-world environment. Another more recent example of AR is Nintendo’s Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit, which transforms your home into augmented reality-enhanced race tracks.

While the game is expensive due to the advanced technology involved, it is a great example of the possibilities of AR, and the exciting future that lies ahead for this tech.

Virtual Reality (VR)

VR has been around a while and in many ways, it’s still waiting for the gaming world to catch up – and prices to come down! Having said that, there are plenty of great titles out there that are making use of this great technology, such as Resident Evil 4 VR and No Man’s Sky VR.

There are still limitations to this tech however, with gamers needing to invest in expensive headsets such as Meta Quest. The physical limitations of a gamers playing space is also an issue when they are immersed in a seemingly boundless virtual world.

Virtual Reality is an exciting technology that can take players anywhere and allow them to immerse themselves in a game. Whether it’s playing table tennis, fighting Zombies or a visit to the casino, the possibilities are endless.

Smartphones

The single biggest cause behind the explosion in gaming popularity is the rise of the smartphone. Thanks to its portability and ease of access, anyone with a smartphone has access to games anytime and anywhere they choose.

Last year, mobile games were responsible for nearly half of the video game industry sales, and that doesn’t include the download of free games. One of the biggest benefactors of the mobile gaming revolution are online casino games such, poker, roulette, blackjack and slots like Rainbow Riches.

Previously, if gamers wanted to play casino games, they would have to physically visit a land-based casino. But thanks to the internet and smartphones, gamers can enjoy these classic games from the comfort of their own homes.

With smartphones boasting fast internet speeds, powerful graphics and quality screens, casino games are an immersive and entertaining experience.

Cloud Gaming

Cloud gaming has the potential to revolutionise the gaming industry. Thanks to fast broadband speeds, players are able to game in real time on almost any device.

Powerful servers in the cloud host the games, allowing gamers to access them online via their devices. This means that players do not need to invest in expensive gaming consoles and computers in order to play the latest games, all the processing is done in the cloud.

Also called gaming on demand, it is essentially a Netflix for games. And just like Netflix, there are plenty of competitors battling it out for market share.

Microsoft Xbox, Sony PlayStation, Google, Amazon, Nvidia and Nintendo, are just some of the many companies offering gamers access to their catalogues through a monthly subscription service.

This tech also brings other benefits, such as the removal of boundaries when it comes to game design. So often designers are limited in their imagination by the processing power of gamers devices, but with huge cloud servers powering games, the sky really is the limit.

3D Graphics

Old online games were based on two-dimensional graphics which still retain a certain charm, but the onset of 3D has changed everything in the gaming world. Games are now more immersive, realistic, exciting and enjoyable.

Racing games, first person shooters and sports titles have all benefitted, with games such as Call of Duty, Forza and EA’s FIFA series all fine examples. Open world games have also utilised this technology to create best selling games such as the worldwide hit, Minecraft, with its creativity and endless possibilities.

The future of gaming

As technology continues to improve players can expect to see many more exciting improvements to their gameplay experience. With fierce competition driving innovation in the sector, companies need to utilise technology to create unique games that will attract players to their offering. The winners will be the gamers who get to enjoy even better, more immersive titles.

Elite Ratalaika Games Shooter ‘Remote Life’ (PS4/Xbox/PS4) – new teaser trailer

Indie publisher Ratalaika Games, together with developer Next Game Level, is on a special countdown for its inspirational Shoot-em-up Remote Life due to be released on May 27th 2022. Releasing on all console platforms, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Microsoft Xbox One,  Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch, priced at a must have $18.99 / €17.99 / £14.99.

A Shooter that really kicks butt!

Top Marks

With a crazy  number of distinguishing features, neat level design, 3D  rendered  graphics, insane creature design, cool music and SFX, with the most important focus on challenging gameplay, variety and playability, Remote Life really packs a punch in a retro visionsed game fit for the 2020s.

One Man – One Vision

Remote Life has been put together by a one man production team, with a skill set that is remarkable. Inspired by seeing and playing games from the past decades that have helped formulate and create his concept, design, gameplay elements and mechanics. From Commodore 64, SNES, Sega Genesis and Amiga 500, to current consoles, he has captured the essence of those games and their playability and game feel to create his own unique game – Remote Life……and so the story goes

A Huge and menacing Alien Hive is approaching our planet. The only way to defeat it is to get inside and destroy it from the centre. You are John Leone, an ambitious pilot, ready to fire all his ammo inside the jaws of horror! Take your space Jet and save our planet. Discover the reason why the aliens are attacking  and experience a mysterious story behind this attack.

Insane and delightful

Insanely scary graphics, with a pointer to sci-fi films of the 80s and 90s, set in a credible alien world,  Remote life  will suck the player into the atmosphere of the game and create excitement with background music and sound effects that summon a nice balance to the pending chaos that unfolds.

A Message to Gamers

Developer, Mario Malagrino, gives a poignant message,  “For Remote Life I tried not to be inspired by any specific game. That ensures its  uniqueness in this genre. I don’t think that producing clones of other games is a great challenge . This allowed me to have a free mindset, and you can see that especially in the weapon system that is quite unique for shmups. Another thing that you do not see usually is the autosave of level progress. This allows you to finish the game in a longer timeline, and does not force you to play ‘restless’ the entire day. There are so many other features on offer”.

The Game, The Objective

To defeat each Final Boss on each level in this way the players progress until they arrive at the centre of  HIVE. Mainly because, only from the centre of the Alien Hive, humans can launch a big missile and destroy the Hive. There are also special levels where the pilot (gamer) has to escort bigger vehicles  that are carrying items that are needed to win this war. All these great features make sure that the game is really a great challenge every time you play without being boring or repetitive.

Exciting Elements:

  • Aggressive, smart and ceaseless enemy attacks

  • Use your brain to select the right weapons – there are lots

  • Fabulous auto save function

  • Unlock other spaceships that are faster and better suited

  • Special Missions

  • Guns galore with their own attributes

  • 16 levels with great final bosses

  • Mid level bosses

  • 4 difficulty levels

  • OnScreen frame rate to impress

Mobile gaming facts that might surprise you

More than 2.6 billion people play games on their mobile devices, with most said to be enjoying the games while on the loo! Over the years, technological enhancements and new game features have meant the overall experience has changed dramatically – but that’s not the only impressive thing. In fact, here we reveal some of the most interesting facts that just might surprise you.

Mobile gaming launched in the 90s

The 90s doesn’t feel that long ago, does it? But this was when the first-ever mobile phone game was released. In 1994, gamers began to play a pre-installed version of Tetris. A few years later, in 1997, Nokia launched Snake, but only selected phone models could enjoy it. Having first been played by Nokia 6110 users, now over 400 million devices have the game. In fact, it soon became one of the most played video games in the world.

As more people became interested, mobile manufacturers launched even more products. It was only time before big-name casino brands and online gaming platforms began to tap into the mobile network. Today, individuals can enjoy bingo, slot games, and even poker – whenever and wherever they want. There isn’t just variety in the types of games either, every subcategory boasts a myriad of game styles from a variety of respected developers.

Nokia kicked off multiplayer games

First, they launched one of our favourite games and then they introduced multiplayer gaming – again, on the Nokia 6110. This time, it allowed two individuals to play Snake using their own mobile phones.

Fast forward to 2011 and Nokia Malaysia actually broke a world record for the largest group of people in a mobile phone game. Over 2,000 people showed up to play Angry Birds for 10 hours straight! While we’re on the subject of Angry Birds, you probably won’t be surprised to know that this game has had over 250 million downloads.

The 10-hour gameplay of Angry Birds isn’t the longest session though. In 2011, a team of Austrian mobile gamers played for 24 hours and 10 minutes continuously.

It’s a sociable thing

study from Twitch revealed that mobile gamers are more socially active than those that don’t play games. Not just that, but gamers are more socially conscious and value friendships more, compared to non-gamers.

It doesn’t just have an effect on your relationships, as gaming can be good for our brain and thinking abilities. Cynthia Green, a doctor, explained that mobile games require us to think and focus quickly and keep our brains flexible. What’s more, some mobile games can actually train the brain to be and stay sharp.

It’s becoming more popular

Gaming as an industry is growing in size and popularity, and mobile gaming has a big role to play. It’s believed that 200 million minutes every day are spent playing games, but it’s not just becoming more popular amongst gamers.

The Academy of Interactive Arts and Science hosts its Interactive Achievement Awards every year. In 2012, they added the Mobile Game of the Year Award for the first time – highlighting that, as a sub-sector, it’s becoming commemorated too.

These facts show how far mobile gaming has come. As we look ahead, it’s thought that even more games will be released and the likes of cryptocurrency and virtual reality will further change the experience for gamers and mobile manufacturers. One thing’s for sure, whatever type of mobile game you’re interested in, you’re sure to find it online.

No Ifs or Putts as Frenetic Deck-Builder Golfie Launches into Early Access on 26th May for PC

Triheart Studio and Yogscast Games today announced Golfie, an eccentric, fast-paced mini golf experience that combines deck-building and roguelike mechanics, launches into Early Access on PC via Steam on 26th May.

See Golfie in action in the trailer here:

Golfie challenges players to complete 18 procedurally generated holes by combining standard mini golf shots with randomly drawn shot and effect cards which players collect as they progress through their round.

Each run requires strategy, planning, and skill by building unique decks which can unlock incredible new ways to play. Card powers can vary from increasing the distance or elevation of a standard shot, through to out-of-this-world abilities and power-ups which can be combined to dazzling effect. But be careful: finish over par or fall into traps and players will lose energy – and once it’s totally depleted, the run is over.

The game debuts into Early Access with a thrilling single-player roguelike campaign, which can be played via random courses, Daily Runs and individual seeds – each with their own global leader board. The further players get through a run, the more progression points they will gain, allowing them to unlock an ever-expanding list of cosmetic items with which they can customise their ball. Eventually complete a full 18 holes and players will gain access to the daunting endless mode, which is where the real challenge begins.

Golfie will evolve during Early Access thanks to feedback from the wonderful community. Planned content updates include online multiplayer (scheduled to arrive in the Summer), expanded card powers and perks, plus a new series of hazards which will challenge even the most experienced Golfie players.

“Golfie is unlike any golf or deckbuilding game you have ever played,” says Simon Byron, Director of Publishing, Yogscast Games. “It’s been a real pleasure working with Triheart Studio to create something so uniquely enjoyable that it defies comparison. Some of the shot combinations during the public playtests have been eye-poppingly joyful – elements of skill and chance combining to create nothing you’ve seen in a golf game before. I’m really, really looking forward to seeing what players can do when the game launches in a couple of weeks.

Golfie key features:

  • Pitch and putt your way through beautiful courses set across four distinct biomes
  • No two courses are the same, thanks to the procedurally generated nature of each hole
  • Collect cards, coins and perks on your way to golfing glory
  • Create incredible shot synergies which can result in extraordinarily powerful ways to play – can you get a hole in *none*?
  • Play entirely randomised courses, or compete against the world in Daily Runs, which offer one chance to play the same course as the rest of the world
  • So much more to come.

Golfie is available on 26th May via Steam priced at £14.99 / €17.99 / $17.99, with a 20 per cent launch discount. It has been developed by Triheart Studio and will be published by Yogscast Games.

Mobile Gaming Took the World By Storm: Here’s Why

Find out why mobile gaming has succeeded in proliferating around the world and what drives consumer interest in this segment.

Why Are People Turning to Mobile Gaming?

Mobile gaming has quickly become one of the most popular forms of entertainment. There are many good reasons why this is and if you go from one region to the next, you will see specific reasons why this is the case. In places such as Australia, people just find it much handier to use websites such as those listed on https://hellsbet.com/en-au/ from their mobile devices in order to place a bet. It’s really just a convenience thing, but mobile gaming has boomed for other reasons, too. Today, we look at some of the reasons that have driven the remarkable growth of mobile gaming which has already beaten PC and console gaming in terms of revenue.

No Strings Attached

The first and perhaps most vital reason why mobile gaming has become so popular is none other than the fact that mobile is just more accessible. The bulk of the games designed for it, from Candy Crash to Mario Kart Tour is just so casual that you don’t really have to dedicate much time or look for a special place to enjoy them. Want to shoot a few Angry Birds? That is okay – you can do so while waiting for the dentist. This is precisely what has driven the rise of this sector. Better yet? You can quit any time you wish without really impacting your performance or results, and without diminishing your performance at the time you quit.

Don’t Make Me Think

Mobile games, unlike PC games, are really about being intuitive. In a PC game, you would often need to figure out how something works and then try to apply this solution. Mobile gaming has relied on a combination of gut feeling and reflexes which has generated huge revenue for the segment and made it one of the most desirable forms of entertainment out there, and this is a fact. Players who are looking to enjoy intuitive gaming will definitely pick mobile gaming over anything else. The fact that you “don’t have to think” to play mobile games is actually quite a big factor in driving consumer interests and preferences.

Cheap Technology on the Rise

Everyone these days can afford a fairly powerful mobile phone, perfect for games like OSRS mobile where players can earn OSRS gold. Because of the proliferation of mobile technology, many people have even foregone computers altogether. You can browse the internet on it, take photos, connect with others and admittedly, spend many hours gaming.

This is precisely how it works and you will have an enjoyable time doing this and more as you go along. The affordability of the technology doesn’t mean it’s necessarily “cheap,” but it’s certainly easier and more practical to have a phone that allows you to game rather than having a dedicated computer for that.

Overall, there are other factors that may define why some people like to game on their mobile – it could be even peer pressure with your friends playing on their phones all the time PC is suddenly not such a good idea.

Tech Review – Asus ROG 5s phone.

The Asus ROG 5s phone is a bit of a beast it must be said. Given it is aimed at gamers it also has great battery life and an excellent camera with great speakers too and a great display.

The phone is not light and not small by any means either which is fine with me however the back of the phone is slippy and can move on a table etc if it starts vibrating. I like phones like this aside the slippy part as you can feel the phone feel the quality and feel it in your pocket, having this alongside other devices I own it is the biggest and heaviest but again I am fine with this because it looks good and is a powerhouse too.

The camera hump is raised but nothing like some others out there which are starting to look stupid now and its angular design blends in well on the device too but it does rock on a table if typing so a case would be a good idea to eliminate this and also protect the device.

On the right you have your power on/off and volume keys on the left you have a docking point, on the bottom you have a headphone jack, yes you heard me right and you also have your USB-C port and a mic.Up to there is just a mic so it is a clean looking device overall and feels solid in the hands and you know you are not holding something cheap. Also as it is a gamer phone you have Air Triggers built in.

Check out the unboxing below and walkthrough and we look at the specs etc

The gaming and user experience

If you are into mobile gaming this is what you could look into, not a huge mobile gamer myself but once was and this phone not only caters for that well it caters for everyday use too, the 6.78 inch screen is ideal for media consumption and more with a peak brightness of 1200 nits and that 144 hz screen refresh which seem to be the buzzword of late, in short here a superb display.

To top of the visual aspects you also get the audio goodness thrown in with dual speakers that are loud and as good as my iPhone 13 pro which are seen as one of the best speakers on a phone today, both the sound and picture just make it a really good experience for anyone to use as just a normal phone as well as gaming.

For my daily use it walked through anything with ease so that emails, social, browsing, and all the daily tasks I use my phone for but the thing is it doesn’t stop there it is also super when it comes to gaming, typical gaming phones I have seen from other manufacturers skimp out somewhere but not this phone.

Cameras

The camera set up here is also typical of a gaming phone a 64mp main camera 13mp wide and 5mp macro and a 24mp front facing camera, you can shoot up to 8k in video here but there is no point just yet in doing so as where can you watch it? This wont be mainstream for another 2 years at least and then think of those large files too if using 8k but the fact that it is there those fe who have 8K tv and has tech than 8K capabilities can enjoy now. The cameras are good in my eyes given it is not the main feature of the phone and who it is aimed at you can take great photos and videos but check them out for yourself below.

We shot in 4K on this phone as I felt it was the best thing to do to a wider audience but we can upload 8K video if requested.

We have done both night and daytime sample videos and photos here so you can get some context.

Full camera specs

8K UHD (7680 x 4320) video at 30 fps for main rear camera 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) video at 30 / 60 fps for main rear camera, at 30 fps for second rear camera 1080p FHD video recording at 30 / 60 fps 720p HD video recording at 30 fps 3-axis electronic image stabilization for rear cameras Time Lapse (4K UHD video) Slow Motion video (4K at 120 fps; 1080p at 240 / 120 fps; 720p at 480 fps) Take still photo while recording video.

Overall this phone is ideal for those who want it all, which is gaming audio camera power and more it is a solid phone not lacking where others do.

Lamborghini Launches the Third Season of The Real Race

Lamborghini Esports is proud to present the third edition of its virtual competition, The Real Race, which returns this year with a brand-new format across the three regions, Europe/Middle East/AfricaNorth America/Latin America and Asia-Pacific. The competition has become an important meeting place for sim drivers from all over the world following the success of the first two editions. This year, the winner will have the opportunity to become an official member of the Lamborghini Esports team, which was launched in 2022. And like the previous two seasons, all races will take place on the Assetto Corsa Competizione game.

A New Format for this Third Edition of The Real Race

Lamborghini recently presented its first official esports team for the most important virtual races dedicated to sim racing. The creation of this team is the result of the massive experience gained with The Real Race competition. This is also an opportunity to further extend the brand’s visibility in a sector that is constantly developing and, above all, allows users to experience sensations comparable to those of a real race. Currently made up of three simulation drivers, Jordan Sherratt, Gianfranco Giglioli and Giorgio Simonini, this year the overall winner of the championship may have the chance to join this official team.

“With this new edition of The Real Race, we are proud to once again show our commitment and passion for Esports racing. The competition is a remarkable way to engage with the new generation and to expand our community.” says Christian Mastro, Automobili Lamborghini Marketing Director“We are confident that the players will have the best experience possible with the new Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2, and we are excited to discover which racer will have the opportunity to join our brand-new Lamborghini Esports team at the end of the competition.”

For this edition, Lamborghini has decided to change the format of the competition. Each region will have a new format which will now incorporate:

  • Qualifiers: at the end of the four qualifiers, one winner per group will be chosen to join the group stage directly. All other competitors will receive points and the top 20 from each qualifier will have the chance to wait for the next stage.
  • Group Stage: There will be six days for the group stage of the competition, divided by regions. Each day will consist of two races played and the participants will again be decided by a point system. The top 15 will qualify for the grand finale.
  • The Last Chance: An in-game event will offer one driver per region the chance to reach the final phase.
  • The Final: The three finals will be played in one day and the top 16 will compete for the ultimate title. The winner will have the chance to join the official sports team.

A Successful 2021 Edition

The 2021 edition of The Real Race brought more than 3,100 drivers competing in several races between June and November. The public was also heavily involved, with more than 1.15 million spectators throughout the tournament. At the end of the finale, which took place at the legendary Misano Adriatico circuit, Jordan Sherratt became Lamborghini’s first official sim driver and joined the ranks of this newly created esports team in 2022.

This year the best sim drivers in the world will compete again in the race game Assetto Corsa Competizione at the wheel of a Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo Evo 2, the new version of the racing vehicle that will be the only car in the three continental series of the competition. Participants will be able to drive the digital version of the high-performance Lamborghini last race car.

Assetto Corsa Competizione was developed in collaboration with car manufacturers and is a dynamic support for Lamborghini’s latest racing series. The game is also used by the official test and racing drivers of the Lamborghini Squadra Corse in their preparations for physical races. And as Lamborghini wants to give the whole world a chance to join the competition and become the next gen sim racer, the famous brand announces good news for all racing game lovers; Assetto Corsa Competizione will be free on steam during the first weekend of the competition from 5 to 8 May 2022.

A wide engagement in Esports

This third edition of The Real Race will continue to prove the Lamborghini’s support and commitment to the esports scene. After launching its virtual competition in 2020, Automobili Lamborghini has signed partnerships with the main gaming brands on the esports scene such as Rocket League and Asphalt 9: Legends, which offer players the opportunity to drive Lamborghini models, such as the Huracán STO or the Essenza SCV12.

For example, Paddy Power Bingo is known for its large variety of games, Bet365 Bingo is known for its great bonuses and promotions, and BoyleSports Bingo is known for its low minimum deposit amount.

Now, without much further introduction, let’s explore the popularity of bingo in Ireland, the evolution of bingo brands, and the features that make one brand better than the other.

Why is bingo so popular in Ireland?

Bingo is an extremely popular pastime in Ireland because it is fun and easy to play. It does not require any special skills or knowledge (like casino games do, for example). For that reason, people of all ages can enjoy a good bingo game. On top of fun and excitement, the prizes available in bingo games are often quite lucrative, which greatly adds to its appeal.

Another reason why bingo is a popular pastime in Ireland is the fact that it offers numerous benefits to all players. One of the main benefits is that it is a great way to socialise. At its core, bingo is a very social game, and it is a lot of fun to play with friends or family members. In addition, playing bingo can help you improve your maths skills, as there will undoubtedly be a lot of calculations for each bingo game you play.

So yes, even though bingo doesn’t require any particular skills and knowledge, you’ll need to do some basic maths to play the game correctly. But that can only do you good since playing bingo and doing basic maths can help you to improve your cognitive abilities.

Because you need to remember the numbers called during the game, playing bingo can also improve your memory skills – yet another crucial benefit of this game. Finally, playing bingo can help you stay mentally active, which is important as you get older.

How have the bingo brands evolved?

The bingo brands have evolved to keep up with their players’ changing needs and wants. For instance, many brands have started offering online bingo games aside from traditional live games. Playing a bingo game online allows players to enjoy the game from the comfort of their own homes, which is a big draw for many people.

In addition, many brands have started offering bonus games and other incentives to attract new players and keep them coming back for more. Let’s not forget that many brands have started offering mobile apps so that players can enjoy bingo on the go. These changes have helped the brands stay competitive and continue to thrive.

What makes one bingo brand in Ireland unique and better than the other?

A few things make each of the top Irish bingo brands unique. For one, they all have their unique look and feel. Their uniqueness is thanks to their unique branding and marketing efforts. More importantly, each brand has its selection of games and promotions, which sets it apart from the others. Finally, each brand has its loyal following of players, who keep coming back for more because they are satisfied with the service.

When determining which bingo brand in Ireland is better than the other, several factors are considered. The first is the quality of the games. Good bingo brands have high-quality games with great graphics and sound effects. Top-quality bingo games make the experience more enjoyable for players and make them keep playing those games without the need to look for another bingo brand.

Another important factor is customer service. Good brands have responsive and helpful customer service teams who are available 24/7 to help players with any issues or questions. With top-notch customer service, you can rest assured that all your issues will be resolved.

And last but not least, trust is key. Players need to trust that their personal information is safe and secure and that their money will be handled responsibly. Good brands always use state-of-the-art security measures to protect their players’ data.
