ABP Clones reduces carbon emissions by 80%

ABP, one of Europe’s leading food processors, has partnered with ESB to reduce carbon emissions at its Clones site by 80% with the installation of an innovative, state-of-the-art water heating system.

A reduction of 80% in carbon emissions equates to approximately 1,692 tons of CO2, which is the same as the emissions from 627,032 litres of diesel, or 268 homes oil usage for one year.

The heating system recycles the lost heat generated by refrigeration units, using it to heat the water used for cleaning, processing and hygiene on site. The result is that only a small amount of water needs to be heated using a smaller new and efficient gas boiler. The heating system principle is similar to the air to water heat pump system used in domestic homes; however, this system boosts waste heat instead of air.

The project forms part of ABP’s overall sustainability strategy and is part of an extensive decarbonisation plan that aims to reduce scope 1 and 2 emissions by 42% from 2021 to 2030 across all ABP sites in Ireland, UK and Europe. This is a significant step in successfully reaching these targets which have been officially validated by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi).

ABP is continually adopting measures to reduce its carbon footprint and improve its sustainable approach. The company’s sustainability strategy is ‘’Doing More with Less’’, which is closely aligned to the UN Sustainable Goals. This strategy runs through every aspect of ABP’s supply chain, from farms to processing sites and the end consumer. The decoupling of resource usage and productivity being a key feature.

Kevin Cahill,  Managing Director, ABP Ireland & Poland said; ‘’This is a very exciting innovative project for ABP and an important step in our drive for greater sustainability. This is a pilot project at the Clones site, we are in the process of replicating it at another of our facilities. This will result in an enormous reduction in the carbon footprint and go a long way to achieving our carbon reduction targets as set out by the Science Based Targets initiative.’’

“This project is a significant milestone in our mission to support businesses in achieving their sustainability goals,” said Ciaran Gallagher, Head of Smart Energy Services at ESB. “By partnering with ABP, we will demonstrate the transformative impact of advanced heat pump technology on reducing carbon footprints and enhancing energy efficiency. Our collaboration underscores the critical role of innovative solutions in driving progress towards Net Zero targets. As leaders in smarter energy solutions, we look forward to continuing our work with ABP and other forward-thinking companies to replicate this success across more facilities, paving the way for a more sustainable industrial sector.”

ABP has a long track record in developing sustainability initiatives and environmentally friendly policies. The company is a founding member of the Plastics Action Alliance (PAA), improving sustainability in plastic packaging supply chains. ABP’s Plastics Policy ensures that all plastic packaging used by ABP must be designed to reduce environmental impact and maximises recyclability.

ABP has planted over 40,000 trees since 2020 and aims to reach a target of 100,000 trees planted by 2030. The company also has an extensive waste management strategy across all its locations, which saw it successfully reduce the amount of cardboard packaging it uses annually by 800 tonnes since 2021.

Tech Review – iWatchpods i500 TWS and i500 TWS Pro #Tech #Audio #TWS

Clones are easy to find today and with demanding kids they want the best, the overpriced APPLE airpods which are not the best in the world in my book though some will argue that.  We have tried several pairs of these and more here and this company claims they are better than the other offerings out there, to an extent they are right especially with the pro version as you will see in the video review below.

We have both pair on offer from the company here and tested both out and both do a great job and the pros are really good and better than expected, I have found some pro models to be lacking in features but this pair does not and have ANC built in, Now when I say that it is not the best ANC in the world but it is there and works depending on your environment and you also get transparency mode too for those who commute or cycle with their earbud on even though you should not.

Below is the links for both products but check out the video review for more.. As always mentioned with clones I can not stand over how long they will last and from testing both these they seem solid and perhaps an alternative for parents to purchase for a stocking filler rather than spending silly money on the real thing.

Tech Review – MyMinipods #Tech #MiniPods

Recently I got these sent in the post to me and they are called minipods and true to form they are what they say on the tin but offer the same sound experince as expected from the larger sized ones available just about anywhere these days, After checking these out for two weeks now they are a decent set of true wireless earbuds that come in well under Apple pricing and are loud plus have all the features within however with the likes of clones how long they will last is something I cant comment on and never will and is always a risk when purchasing but overall they have served me fine still to this day and remember the cost element here and they are handy to have as a second pair or even a stocking filler this Christmas.

Review redo. Podsbay i200 TWS. How are they holding up. #Tech #Podsbay #TrueWireless

I have been asked multiple times on how some of my products have held up over the last few months and in particular in the true wireless earbuds area. One company in particular popped up quite often which is Podsbay who is a company that offer clones on the cheap, I have several pairs from this company and there is a bigger concern out there with other companies selling a similar product but fake and I will be discussing this on a later post as I am waiting for some to arrive from these and I have some here today.

The i200 TWS and the i500 TWS from Podsbay is what we will be talking about today the i500 TWS will have a separate video. The i200 TWS are the cheaper of the two and there is cheaper models again from the same company and obviously you get a little less when you pay less and the same applies here with the i200 TWS and the i500 TWS which cost a bit more than the i200 TWS.

So have they held up? In short yes they have and work as is when I first got them, I tend to rotate my earbuds during testing and let them all die then charge them up again as I go along so they all get fair usage across the board, Over time they will be put away as I tend to keep some in rotation that is current and eventually box some off as there is many true wireless earbuds passing through and I dont want them lying around all over the place.

These have held up well since I got them with all features still working as form day one, they hold their charge and all the features still work as is with no issues on my end, so rest assured these are fine, this is in my personal experience and does not reflect those of others and as most know if there is an issue I will call any company out be it here or on social if there is a problem with the product or I suspect something is up. So you can check these out over at https://podsbay.com/products/i200tws
