Fujifilm Introduces the INSTAX SQUARE SQ40 Instant Camera

FUJIFILM Europe GmbH, Imaging Division, announced today the launch of its new INSTAX SQUARE SQ40 instant camera (SQ40), a new addition to the INSTAX SQUARE lineup of instant cameras. Fujifilm has also introduced a new INSTAX SQUARE instant film variety, “Sunset”, featuring a variety of film borders with soft color gradients designed to be reminiscent of a serene, peaceful sunset.

“Consumers love our INSTAX MINI 40 instant camera, so expanding the line to also include a SQUARE format option just made sense,” said Shin Udono, Senior Vice President, Imaging Solutions, FUJIFILM Europe. “Not only can INSTAX fans now have another instant camera with a classic look, but they can also now enjoy the SQ40’s large, square image area.”

Automatic Exposure function

The SQ40’s Automatic Exposure function automatically senses the level of ambient light when the shutter button is pressed, optimizing the shutter speed and flash output according to the scene. It allows even novice INSTAX instant camera users to take photos that are automatically adjusted regardless of interior or exterior conditions, producing high-quality photos on-the-spot.


Selfie Mode for quicker and easier selfies

Users can activate the Selfie Mode, perfect for taking selfies and close-up shots, by simply twisting the lens after powering the SQ40 on. Using this mode to take amazing selfies and close-ups is incredibly easy and convenient.

New Film Variety Introduced:

Also accompanying the launch of SQ40 is Fujifilm’s launch of the new INSTAX SQUARE “Sunset” variety of instant film. The design of this new square format instant film is inspired by the gentle gradation of the colors in the sky during a sunset. As with all INSTAX SQUARE instant film varieties, Sunset will be available in a single pack with 10 exposures.

INSTAX MINI EVO Now Available in Brown:

Fujifilm is also pleased to introduce brown as a new color option for its FUJIFILM INSTAX MINI EVO hybrid instant camera (MINI EVO) product line. Initially introduced in 2021 in a black camera body, MINI EVO’s unique hybrid format combines the excitement and satisfaction of traditional instant camera functionality with the capabilities of digital imaging technology to select, share, and store specific images. Paired with INSTAX MINI instant film, MINI EVO creates high-quality prints directly from the camera. Sony launches their new ZV-1 II vlogging camera

Sony has launched the all-new second generation camera to the ZV-1 in the vlog camera ZV series, the ZV-1 II which includes highly requested and popular market-leading features.  With a wider angle than ZV-1, the ZV-1 II helps vloggers make more engaging storytelling with attractive photogenic image quality.

Accessibility features allow anyone to enjoy shooting and playback.  When the screen reader functionxv is activated, text on the menu screens is read aloud. The screen reader function can be activated by turning the [Screen Reader] function in the [Setup] tab ON. Screen reader volume can be adjusted via the [Sound Options] settings. In addition to the above, the ZV-1 II includes a number of functions that assist in achieving pinpoint focus on a variety of subjects. The Real-time Eye AF can automatically recognise and focus on [Human] or [Animal], or the Real-time Tracking function. Tech Review – Instax Mini 12 instant camera

I am a huge fan of Instax cameras and some might see it as a niche thing which is fine and due to how powerful our smartphones are today the sales of cameras have dropped over the years but there is still a market out there for all things camera and including retro cameras like Instax from FUJIFILM.

OK OK I say it every time an Instax camera comes in for a review “do you remember when we used to take photos with disposable cameras and so on or even your DSLRs etc and go get them sent off and you could not wait to get the envelope stuff with photos back?” Well do you? Have you changed or picked up a camera from Instax and actually tried to bring back how things used to be like all the retro tech we now are seeing more of?

The latest offering from the company the Mini 12 instant camera is not what I expected at first glance when it comes to the tech side of things using their app and probably because they launched a new app called the Instax Up app the same day which we will review another day but unlike previous cameras this does not require an app to use it to edit photos etc it is just a simple point and shoot camera, with the Instax app you can scan INSTAX prints and store them digitally in one place, Organize photos by category/list views for easy locating, Easily share stored photos and collections via social media or text, Import photos from other INSTAX apps (INSTAX mini LINK, INSTAX Link WIDE etc.) into the INSTAX Up. There is no app for this camera however we are testing today which I thought initially there was and this might make the case for making things easier if you look at it another way.

On testing this camera I found it is ideal for the selfie fan which myself is not someone who posts the likes on a daily basis and it does well mostly so on outdoors and takes decent images as you will see in the video review below, it is on the bulky side however these cameras always have been and certainly will be a talking point when you take it out to get some photos you can hold in your hand.

Tech Review – EMEET Meeting Capsule 360° Video Conference Camera with 8 Mics, Hi-Fi Speaker

When it comes to working from home or the office conference calls can be part of the daily routine and it happens quite often here with myself and having the right tools is essential to do the job at hand but how many tools do you need to get the job done, you could look at this as an all in one package though by looking at it you might not see how it works and this is what makes this piece of kit something different and quite unique and it is pretty cool too.

We have tested many conference kits here and this is the latest offering from the company who strive to give us good products at affordable prices and we use some of their kit still today and they work really well which is something to take note of.

The product itself is super robust and perhaps bigger than one would be use to having at home but maybe no the case in an office environment, it is simple to use with a remote control that is also simple to use and has all the buttons down one side of the device where there is LED status lights on the opposite site and then up top is where the magic happens the 360 degree panoramic HD camera that can be also turned off and muted like the audio when not in use.

OK so how does this work, well there is plenty of AI here involved which is pretty cool and it is a simple set-up and works cross platform and you can download some additional software if you like but there is no need to it is a plug and play product which what people like to see with no hassle to get moving. You have one cable to connect to your PC it will not work with a mobile phone  nor can you ad and external mic and you have on power cable for the device itself so it is not one of those systems that have wires for each individual at the table or product to match.

There is a cool speaker built in too which you can use during the conference calls etc or just even as a personal speaker and it has a good sound with some nice bass built in.

There is 5 modes of use here which covers all aspects.

1. Collaboration Mode

Under EMEET Meeting Capsule’s collaboration mode, all attendees’ 360° panoramic picture and main 1-3 speaker’ split screens will be shown on the same screen simultaneously. In the split screen, one speaker will be tracked and displayed, and when she/he isn’t talking anymore, she/he will be removed from the screen, ensuring the new speaker becomes the next on-screen speaker. By using this mode, all participants concentrate on not only the speakers but also the listeners.2. Speech Mode

Under EMEET Meeting Capsule’s speech mode, all attendees’ 360° panorama picture and only 1 speaker’s split slide will be displayed at the same time on the screen. If the former speaker stops talking, the device will automatically center on the latter speaker. Besides, the image can be adjusted via the remote control. In a speech occasion, the conference room webcam is the best choice to deliver the speaker’s expression content.

3. Classic Mode

Under EMEET Meeting Capsule’s classic mode, people in front of the 180° wide-angle device will be shown in a non-split screen. For a stabler and clearer image, the AI capturing tech is closed here. The webcam with remote control can be used to adjust the image and degree. The classic mode’s FOV (Field of View) is 180/120/60 degrees, being able to be adjusted by the remote control. The conference webcam is great for medium to large meetings.

4. Spotlight Mode

Under EMEET Meeting Capsule’s spotlight mode, the conference webcam becomes a personal video conference camera, which means you can choose the part you would like to show on the non-split screen. Auto capturing tech is forbidden here for a high-definition imaging. Both remote control and eMeetLink can be used to change the FOV between 60-95 degree. You are the only one who enjoys the 3 in 1 smart video conference system in the spotlight mode.

5. In-privacy Mode

Under EMEET Meeting Capsule’s privacy mode, you will enjoy both electronic privacy and physical privacy. To cut off the image transmission, the electronic 360 webcam flips the lens to 0° and the whole physical cap turns to 0°. Meanwhile, the microphone will quit picking up voice immediately. However, the 10W HIFI speaker continues to work to deliver the other side’s voice. Privacy mode is frequently used during your side’s negotiation and decision time.

Overall this is a one stop shop with less cables cameras and more for that important conference meeting be it at home or in the office and it is simple to set up and get going meaning a clutter free environment and excellent quality meetings. The cohe st might be an issue for some here but when you think about it one product can do the work of multiple here and for me this is a win and from testing with personal work meetings and so on the people at the other end agree.

Tech Review – Enfokus AI-based intelligent video conference camera

The EnFokus AI Video Conference Camera came in clearly defined packaging with the key features visible on the packaging. The kit is robust with no additional accessories to lose or carry around, the cable with a USB A plug connects directly to a windows laptop without any issues. The camera is mechanical in terms of operation adjusted which pops up with voice automation to advise the scanning AI on the views. This kit does not have any controls on the unit in terms of volume/ mute etc which have to be done via a Laptop etc.

Set up:

The setup is simple and easy Plug and play, and no additional drivers were required.  This took less than one minute to update and required no additional accessories required. Microsoft teams automatically changed the speaker and camera on numerous calls with no time lag or loss.

The AI face recognition was automatic in the background, as focused on a face within a room this took up to 30 seconds on initially plugging in the camera but the Pan tilt zoom part adjusted accordingly as a person’s face moved within the room as would be done during a presentation. The double talk where 2 people on a call spoke at the same time again worked without interference.  The camera when connected shows a red light and changes to a green line when on a call,

Warranty:

The warranty comes with a 1-year warranty, which is disappointing from the website in terms of manufacturing culture and mixed communication in terms of repair times and taking responsibility for customers.

Conclusion :

The EnFokus AI Video Conference Camera does what is said on the box easily and efficiently and works as required. The 2-watt speaker is sufficient for voice calls but lacks a punch when used to listen to high-quality music ranges albeit this is not designed for this area while sufficient to listen to eg Youtube music in the background. The 4 inbuilt microphones have a range of 5 Meters which is sufficient for most boardrooms and can handle multiple people talking at once. The  2K ( 2560 X 1440)  Camera works well and has clarity in a variety of settings when the light dimmed or in a bright room. The AI face recognition worked well and zoomed in or Panned as required to a facial movement. This was noted to be slow which may be designed to ensure a steady smooth transition rather than a jump on the camera. The Manufactures’s website has a variety of mixed messages in terms of warranty repairs and lacks the customer-first ethos as seen by some of the brands tested in the past.

Overall, The product does what is supposed to do keeping it simple without the clutter of additional accessories getting lost, or additional buttons/displays on the units overcomplicating the product. An easy simple product to connect and use, and works as expected.

Sony Expands Cinema Line with New 4K Super 35 Camera, the FX30 for Future Filmmakers

Sony has just announced the newest addition to the brand’s prestigious Cinema Line – the FX30 (model ILME-FX30). The new FX30 is a 4K Super 35 compact cinema camera that offers many professional features of the Cinema Line, such as Dual Base ISO, Log shooting modes, and user-imported LUTs (Look Up Tables) at a price point that appeals to many aspiring filmmakers.

In addition to introducing the new FX30, Sony announced two new CFexpress Type A Memory Cards – CEA-G320T and CEA-G640T. Both are large capacity cards that support high-speed performance with high-speed performance in both reading and writing.

Creating a Cinematic Look

The FX30 offers up-and-coming filmmakers’ cinematic expression with the latest imaging systems. It features a new back-illuminated 20.1 megapixels APS-C Exmor R™ CMOS sensor (Super 35 format) with a dual base ISO (800/2500) to deliver high sensitivity, low noise, and 14+ stops of latitude.

The ILME-FX30 supports a variety of video recording codecs. It can shoot 4K Super 35 (16:9) by oversampling from 6K at up to 60fps. The ILME-FX30B also features the ability to shoot in high frame rates, including 4K at 120fps and full HD at 240fps. Both16:9 recording modes can shoot at 10-bit 4:2:2 while an HDMI Type-A connector can be used to output 4K, 16-bit RAW to an external recorder.

Like the rest of the Cinema Line, the FX30 features Log shooting modes by enabling Cine El, Cine El Quick, and Flexible ISO modes for recording with the S-Log3 gamma curve, which allows more flexibility when colour grading. All three modes allow video shooting while monitoring with an appropriate LUT to preview the final image. In addition, the FX30 includes a selection of built-in cinematic looks, such as Sony’s S-Cinetone™, and can shoot single stills. The camera offers advanced image processing capabilities with the BIONZ XR processing engine for natural gradations and realistic colour reproduction.

Designed to Support the Creators’ Needs

The FX30 features Sony’s fast and reliable autofocus, with settings including:

  • Real-time Eye AF (human, animal, or bird

  • AF Assist

Creatives also have more control when using the Focus Map, which makes it easy to visualise depth of field, and Breathing Compensation offers a stable angle of view when focusing. This metadata is available using the latest version of Sony’s Catalyst Prepare or Catalyst Browse applications. A new “Catalyst Prepare Plugin” for Adobe Premiere Pro was released in August.

Easy Operation and a Compact Form Factor

Compact and lightweight, the FX30 has a flat-top design with threaded accessory attachment points, making it easy to use for shooting handheld, capturing low-angle shots, mounting on a gimbal, or adding accessories. The FX30 also features an XLR handle unit which can be used to capture low-angle shots and also allows filmmakers to capture crystal clear audio through various audio inputs, including two XLR audio inputs and a 3.5 mm stereo mini jack for 4-channel recording. Tech Review – Tapo Outdoor Security Wifi Camera (C320WS)

Security is a must these days and I call it all the time when checking out new security cameras yet time and time again people come to me and ask what is a good camera for indoors or outdoors and good bell and never act on it, some unfortunately have had an incident at their home and have no comeback because no security devices installed and then later went out and bought the products I recommend to them, the thing is and always will be is that prevention is better than cure and not only that visibility of security cameras is a super deterrent too.

I have heard on our radio that indoor cameras are pointless from a so-called security expert and clear this lad is living under a rock, indoor cameras are used in more ways than one and are useful just as outdoor ones are and if an intruder for example was to breach your house you have them both on camera inside and outside, outside is where to start though in my book and have your house covered front and back and if you have a side entrance like I do.

The new outdoor cam from Tapo is something you could look at, given it is wired it is a pain however the one benefit is that you do not have to charge it, I prefer wireless but have some wired cameras myself now and it is better given you might use an extra plug and use some more electricity which people today are worried about.

Installation is simple which is good, a good drill and screwdriver and off you go and if you have existing holes which I did even better to give me a headstart from a previous tapo camera. Check out the unboxing below to see what you get and what you need to get going.
