SETU software development student, Darren Maher and his co-creator Ava McGrk, have developed a new online application to support recreational therapists in creating individual therapy plans for clients.
His latest co-creation, ReCreo, is an app for recreational therapists that supports healthcare providers in building individualised therapy plans for clients. The app aims to increase face-to-face interaction between therapist and client, by cutting down on the amount of administration hours required outside of sessions.
ReCreo was brought to life when Darren and Ava took part in the Patch summer programme at Dublin’s Dogpatch labs. Patch is an accelerator programme for young people aged 16 to 21 who want to build projects that push society forward. Participants are interested in driving innovation in science, engineering, design, technology, and entrepreneurship.
Darren and Ava’s personal experience was the inspiration for developing technology to help in the vital area of recreational therapy.
“Both Ava and I have experience of younger relatives being in long term care, which is where the idea of therapeutic recreation (TR) first came from,” Darren explained.
“TR can help children with long term illnesses to restore the confidence they may have lost as a result of an extended stay in hospital. It uses a ‘therapy-through-play’ approach that helps to enhance a child’s physical, emotional, and social well-being. This is particularly important for kids who have had to spend a significant amount of time in hospital, away from their everyday settings with friends and family,” said Darren.
“Our hope for ReCreo is that it allows for increased face-to-face therapy between therapists and their clients by reducing the amount of time that therapists have to spend on repetitive admin,” Darren added.
Since finishing the Patch programme, Darren has been selected for the National Digital Research Centre (NDRC) pre-accelerator programme. The NDRC will help Darren continue to refine ReCreo and eventually build a tool that makes all therapists jobs easier.

Kids can also create a journal which I like here and this is good for mental health and your wellbeing and your child can express themselves in a more realistic manner with videos images and by writing down things which is good.
The device has 20mp front camera and 16mp selfie camera and allows 1080p recording for decent images and video and all this is housed in a robust frame built to last there is also a incremental light on the front too for your selfies. One press on the shutter key is for photos and holding it down is for video.

The Crossky C50 ear-clip earbuds are their latest product on the market that look and feel premium also the case they come in making it an overall nice package for the price and this brand to date has been quite good and under the radar as I have tested many of their products over the years.
The presentation is standard yet inside the box you get what looks like a higher end product the Crossky C50 are light,small and look more expensive and with the new clip-on stlye they look good in the finish we tested.
These are not in-ear earbuds however some think the sound quality is not as good as such here but they are wrong these sound like in-ear earbuds giving you the sound you would expect you have no ANC however you do have some awareness around you but when these are turned up to the max you can forget about hearing anything but your music or videos or what media you consume on phone or tablet.
There is the QCY app which also changes things up a gear with a selection of EQ settings such as spatial sound effects pop rock classic and much more and you can also customise your EQ to your needs having said all this the sound is excellent here for the price with no issues to report like no lag latency or tinny sound, you also dynamic EQ and Gaming mode so the 10.8mm drivers gives a good punch and users will not be dissapointed.
The touch controls can also be customised and work well you have multipoint pairing, adaptive volume and sleeping mode and also tone switch and if you happen to loos them you have the find headset option so overall for the price you pay here you are getting serious value for money.
Overall here these are almost an in ear earbuds experience which is great to see and they sound great no matter what you listen too and for the price you will pay there is nothing you can really complain about to be honest calls are great sound is great battery life is good and they look premium and put it up to others more expensive.

Presentation is top notch as expected from Edifier and when you take the speaker out and hold it it is nothing short of premium with the looks and finish on all sides.

When it comes to the audio it is quite remarkable for its size on a similar sized speaker from Edifier we reviewed some time ago it blows it out of the water with the sound it delivers and with the Edifier ConneX app you have more options at your disposal for your audio preferences.

The earbuds themselves are quite cool with not touch based options but they have a button at each end that works perfectly each time allowing you to get the command you want rather than unwanted ones you would get with gesture based earbuds.
The fit is secure and these will not fall out they are also light and robust look well and clean and not cumbersome looking, in fact after some time wearing them you will forget they are there.
There is all the features you would expect to find here and with their app you have some new options you can play/pause,skip/reverse access your voice assistant and volume control you can also manage calls and all actions tried and tested worked well each time.
Battery life is also impressive here with up to 32 hours on a single charge and there is also fast charging which 5 mins charging giving you up to 8 hours which is impressive. Battery longevity will of course vary by user and their settings as usual. Users can also set safe volume limits and over-time reminders via the APP as we demo in the video review below.
Sound is excellent here with the 12mm drivers and 30w output inside despite no ANC which means you can hear your surroundings but the type of user these are aimed at it is not a bad thing, in a quite environment you would be the full benefit of near in er earbuds it must be said and overall the sound is excellent for open-ear earbuds you also have access to the app seen below for more options including find your buds and much more.
Overall for the price here and being ope-ear earbuds they are easy to recommend and pack a punch with audio and do not sound tinny maxed out or have any latency issues, calls where also good here with their 4 mic AI noise cancellation and to top it off you have dual device connectivity which today is an important feature for those who work from phones and laptops together.
