Dell PowerEdge XR9700 Brings Cloud RAN and AI to Harsh Edge Environments

Dell Technologies introduces the Dell PowerEdge XR9700 server, a first of its kind closed-loop liquid-cooled, fully-enclosed, ruggedized server engineered to run Cloud RAN and edge AI workloads in unprotected outdoor environments. Designed to mount on utility poles, rooftops and building exteriors, the PowerEdge XR9700 brings high performance computing into dense urban areas, remote locations, and space-constrained facilities where traditional data center infrastructure cannot reach.

Why it matters

Telecommunications operators and those working at the edge often struggle to deploy compute due to lack of power and space. The PowerEdge XR9700 solves this, delivering high performance compute directly at the point of need in an ultra-compact, zero-footprint IP66-rated enclosure that’s sealed from the elements. For telecommunications operators, it provides a flexible, software-defined alternative to traditional RAN solutions, supporting Cloud RAN and Open RAN processing at the cell site. At the same time, the platform can run edge and AI applications directly where data is created and consumed.

Built for Extreme Conditions

Designed to withstand the harshest environments, this platform’s ultra-compact IP66-rated enclosure and GR-3108 Class 4 certification delivers reliable, quiet performance in environments exposed to extreme temperatures, dust and moisture. Closed-loop liquid cooling with a thermal management architecture maintains consistent operation across a temperature range of -40°C to 46°C (-40°F to 115°F) and withstands direct solar radiation, all in a compact 15-liter form factor suitable for mounting on utility poles, rooftops and building sides. This zero-footprint design brings telecom and edge workloads to locations where only traditional radio solutions could previously operate.

Performance that Scales

Powered by the Intel Xeon 6 SoC with integrated Intel vRAN Boost technology and Intel AMX technology, the PowerEdge XR9700 delivers the processing power and fronthaul connectivity to support up to 15 5G sectors in a single server. While optimized for Cloud RAN, the platform’s flexibility allows operators to run edge and AI workloads based on network architecture and service requirements.

As part of the Dell PowerEdge XR-Series, the XR9700 integrates with Dell’s existing management tools and software stack. Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller (iDRAC) provides remote visibility and control for zero-touch provisioning (ZTP), while compatibility with the same Cloud RAN software validated on the PowerEdge XR8720t simplifies certification and accelerates telecom deployments.

Andrew Vaz, vice president, Dell Technologies“Operators and enterprises shouldn’t have to compromise when deploying compute in challenging environments. The Dell PowerEdge XR9700 brings Cloud RAN, Open RAN, and edge AI capabilities to places they’ve never been able to go before, opening up new possibilities for network expansion and edge applications.”

EZVIZ EP3x Pro Video Doorbell And Chime Kit Review

The EZVIZ EP3x Pro Video Doorbell And Chime Kit which is battery powered and also comes with a solar panel for the doorbell is the perfect kit to have at your home at your front door, this can also be wired if you wish and with the back up of solar you are sure to not miss a thing.

The standout feature is the dual-lens system. The Main Camera is 2K resolution for a crisp view of visitors. The Bottom Camera 1080p downward-facing lens specifically for monitoring package deliveries. The app stitches these views together, so you don’t have to guess if a package was left behind a pillar or right at the threshold. Also these can be organised in the app to which set up or view you want ie you can see two camera in one screen like PIP (picture in picture)

The kit includes a rechargeable 5,200 mAh battery, but the real winner is the included solar panel weather and area/set up dependen even your door gets even a moderate amount of sunlight, you can theoretically go years without manually taking the doorbell down to charge it. It also supports hardwiring if you prefer a traditional setup which takes longer but not hard to do and if you are not comfortable get an electrician

The EP3x Pro uses on-device AI to distinguish between human shapes and packages. This is critical because it reduces “nuisance” notifications caused by swaying trees or passing cars. During testing, the package detection is surprisingly reliable, though human detection can occasionally be over-sensitive depending on your “Zone” settings.

Another win for me unlike many rivals, this unit comes with 32GB of eMMC storage built-in which means you do not need an SD card which is a rare thing to see these days, there is an anti tamper alarm built in like most doorbell cameras which again hadny as I have had one stolen before yet the culprit denied it when I found out who it was and approached them.

The “Pro” kit  includes the EZVIZ CH1 Chime. This isn’t just a speaker; it acts as a Wi-Fi booster for the doorbell. Since doorbells sit outside behind thick wood or brick, they often struggle with signal. Plugging the chime into an outlet near the door ensures a stable connection and allows you to hear the “Ding-Dong” inside without needing your phone nearby.

The Chime is loud and works well and can be heard anywhere in the house the speaker on the doorbell itself is also loud you can see all this in action in the video review down below, Overall this is a super addition to your home security and works well with an easy set and simple to use app full of features like speaking to people from the comfort of your couch or if you are away taking snapshots recording footage and you can also zoom in leave messages and most of all more cameras in one than your traditional video doorbell

The EZVIZ App

Features

  • Useful Dual LensesEZVIZ video doorbell EP3x Pro stitches views together to help you see much more. Its 2K forward-facing lens captures approaching people and the environment wide and clear, while the 1080p downward-facing lens allows you to check the ground for packages, where other cameras usually can’t see.
  • Smart Human Motion & Package DetectionEZVIZ smart doorbell camera EP3x integrates human-shape algorithm with radar-based motion detection, so as to smartly distinguish people movements from other insignificant activities, and instantly notifies you even before people knock. It’s extra useful when a postman drops a package but you are not at home.
  • 2K/3MP Clarity and Color Night VisionSee who’s at the door vividly in 2K video, even if you don’t have proper front-door lighting available and it’s totally dark outside. EZVIZ EP3x Pro uses a built-in LED to brighten up your hallway and render colorful night vision.
  • Green Solar Panel PowerThe battery-powered EP3x Pro can stick itself to any front door where electricity wiring isn’t planned, and run on green power by using the included solar panel. What’s better? It preserves the option to go hardwired if you live in a cloudy region.
  • Free 32GB eMMC storageYou don’t need to pay for storage cards or subscription plans before the doorbell camera starts saving video clips. EZVIZ EP3x Pro video doorbell camera is embedded with 32 GB eMMC storage capacity — which means it can store up to 6 months of video history if it records 10 minutes of activities every day.

Samsung Unveils Galaxy S26 Series. Ireland details

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced the Galaxy S26 series, featuring our most intuitive, proactive and adaptive Galaxy AI experiences yet and designed to simplify the tasks people do on their phones every day. From managing plans and finding information to capturing and refining content, Galaxy S26 reduces the effort and number of steps required to get things done. As Samsung’s third-generation AI phones, Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra handle complex tasks in the background, allowing users to focus on results rather than how the technology works.

The Galaxy S26 series was engineered with Samsung’s most advanced capabilities working together as one: incredible performance, an industry leading camera system and Galaxy AI. This provides a strong foundation that gives Galaxy S26 users the confidence to depend on their phone throughout the day without compromising security or privacy.

Building on Samsung’s decades of innovation in display technology, Galaxy S26 Ultra introduces the world’s first built-in Privacy Display for mobile phones to unlock a new class of display experiences and reinforce Samsung’s commitment to privacy at a pixel level. Galaxy S26 Ultra also delivers a customised chipset and upgraded thermal management that enable faster and more powerful AI — all wrapped up in the slimmest Ultra yet.

Together, these choices allow the Galaxy S26 series to deliver the most powerful Galaxy experience yet.

“The most powerful phones should also be the easiest to use,” said Annika Bizon, Vice President of Product and Marketing for Mobile Experience at Samsung UK and Ireland. “The Galaxy S26 Series featuring our most intuitive Galaxy AI ever is designed to reduce the mental load people carry daily, with hardware and AI working together so tasks are handled in the background while privacy stays protected at every level. When technology removes friction, you start experiencing what it enables: more time, less effort and the confidence that your life stays yours.”

Engineered for enhanced performance, the Galaxy S26 series is built on the most powerful hardware ever on a Galaxy S series, powered by a customised chipset. Across the line-up, the Galaxy S26 series is engineered for AI performance, power efficiency and thermal management, ensuring demanding tasks run smoothly and consistently, so users can rely on their device when it matters.

On Galaxy S26 Ultra, a customised mobile processor — Snapdragon® 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy — delivers enhanced performance with significant gains across CPU, GPU, and NPU to support faster, smoother experiences that keep up throughout the day.

A CPU performance increase of up to 19% means Galaxy S26 Ultra responds more quickly and handle complex workloads intelligently, even when multiple tasks are running at once. A 39% improvement in NPU performance powers always-on Galaxy AI features that run seamlessly, allowing users to move between tasks without lag or interruption. A 24% boost in GPU performance delivers richer visuals and more fluid gameplay.

To sustain this level of performance, Galaxy S26 Ultra introduces a redesigned Vapor Chamber with thermal interface material positioned along the sides of the processor, allowing heat to spread more efficiently across a larger surface area. This improves heat dissipation to keep the device cool and consistent, even during demanding activities such as gaming, multitasking and video capture. Galaxy S26 Ultra also brings Super-Fast Charging 3.0, minimising downtime by reaching up to 75% charge in just 30 minutes.

Embedded into the processor, Samsung’s proprietary technologies enhance visual performance. ProScaler improves image scaling so photos and videos appear rich and clear at a glance by sharpening text and fine detail while smoothing textures. Additionally, Samsung’s mobile Digital Natural Image engine (mDNIe) delivers more subtle and lifelike colours thanks to image processing with four times the precision compared to the previous generation.

Taken together, these advancements deliver dependable all-day performance, making every action feel effortless.

The Galaxy S26 series brings the same focus on intuitive interaction to creativity and productivity, delivered through the industry-leading Galaxy camera system. With an approach that integrates capturing stunning photos and videos, editing and sharing into a single, seamless experience, creativity feels more natural and accessible even without professional tools or technical knowledge.

On Galaxy S26 Ultra, wider camera apertures  allow more light to reach the sensor, delivering clearer photos with richer details in low-light conditions, even when zoomed in. Enhanced Nightography Video keeps footage clearer and more vibrant even in dim scenes, whether capturing concerts indoors or recording moments around a campfire after sunset. Video capture is further enhanced with upgraded Super Steady capabilities, which add a horizontal lock option for greater stability and to make consistent framing easier to achieve, even with bumpy trails or fast-paced activities.

Galaxy S26 Ultra is the first Galaxy device to support APV, a new professional-grade video codec designed to deliver efficient compression for high-quality production workflows. Optimised for advanced creators, it ensures visually lossless video quality that stays true even after repeated editing.

Improvements to the AI ISP now extend to the selfie camera, capturing more natural skin tones and finer detail in mixed lighting. Editing photos and videos is just as easy and straightforward, with AI-powered tools built into familiar workflows so users can make changes quickly and unlock their creativity without design expertise.

With the upgraded Photo Assist suite, users can simply describe what they want to change in their own words. Changing the scene from day to night is just a matter of asking. It can also add to images and restore missing parts of objects like a bite taken out of a cake. Personal details, such as a spill on clothing, can also be cleaned up with Galaxy AI’s new ability to change outfits in photos. Edits can now be made continuously, reviewed step by step, and easily adjusted or undone along the way, making the process feel fluid rather than final.

Creative Studio builds on this simplicity by bringing creation and customisation into one integrated space, making it easy to act on ideas when inspiration strikes. Starting from a sketch, photo or prompt, users can quickly turn ideas into polished visuals — from stickers and invitations to personalised wallpapers — and refine or share them without switching tools or interrupting creative flow.

The Galaxy S26 series also simplifies frequent visual tasks with AI-powered tools like the Document Scan, which removes distortions and distractions such as creases or fingers to deliver clean scans instantly. Multiple images can be organised automatically into a single PDF, making it easy to digitise receipts, forms or notes.

The Galaxy S26 series is designed to make frequently used experiences feel straightforward and user-friendly, with Galaxy AI reducing the steps between intent and action. It works proactively and seamlessly on the user’s behalf based on context, surfacing the right support at the right moment and automating tasks with minimal manual input. As the technology fades and handles tasks in the background, users can focus on the results.

With Now Nudge, timely and relevant suggestions help users stay in the flow without being distracted. If a friend asks for photos from a recent trip, Galaxy S26 automatically suggests photos from the Gallery, removing the need to search through albums or switch between apps. When receiving a message about a meeting, Galaxy S26 can recognise related Calendar entries and check for conflicts.

On the Galaxy S26 series, Now Brief has become proactive and personalised. It surfaces timely reminders for important events – from reservations to travel updates – based on personal context, helping users stay organised throughout the day.

Searching for information is also easier than ever. Circle to Search with Google on the Galaxy S26 series has been upgraded with enhanced multi-object recognition, so users can now explore more deeply on multiple parts of an image at once. If users spot a look they love, the feature also identifies everything from the jacket to the shoes, all in one search.

Galaxy S26 series features an upgraded Bixby as a conversational device agent, making it more intuitive and easier than ever to interact with Galaxy devices. Users can navigate their devices and adjust settings using natural language, without the need for exact terminology or commands.

Alongside Bixby, Galaxy S26 series integrates a choice of agents, including Gemini[19] and Perplexity[20]. Once set up, tasks can be completed with a single button press or voice prompt. Galaxy S26 can also handle multi-step tasks in the background, streamlining the process on the user’s behalf.

Together, these proactive, personalised and adaptive experiences lay the foundation for more agentic AI experiences — setting the stage for Galaxy devices to become trusted companions that understand and anticipate user needs.

As mobile experiences become more personalised thanks to AI, protecting user privacy becomes even more critical. Samsung builds protection into every layer of Galaxy S26, keeping personal data secure while giving users transparency and control over how their information is used.

Galaxy S26 Ultra introduces privacy at the pixel level with the mobile industry’s first built-in Privacy Display, a breakthrough in display technology that fundamentally changes how privacy can be protected on a phone. Designed for everyday situations like transit, cafés and shared environments, Privacy Display goes beyond anything previously available on mobile devices — hardware and software working as one to protect privacy without compromising the viewing experience.

By controlling how pixels disperse light, the display keeps content clear, bright and comfortable for the user in everyday use, while limiting what others can see. Unlike traditional stick-on privacy films, Galaxy’s integrated Privacy Display preserves full viewing quality from all directions when off, and limits visibility for others from side viewing angles when activated, even when switching between portrait and landscape orientation.

Users can customise when it turns on — such as when entering PINs, patterns and passwords or opening selected apps — and adjust privacy levels depending on the situation. Partial Screen Privacy intelligently limits visibility for notification pop-ups, while Maximum Privacy Protection further obscures side views for added discretion, all with minimal impact on power or usability.

The Galaxy S26 series also brings smarter software safeguards that work quietly in the background. AI-powered Call Screening identifies unknown callers and summarises intent, making it easier to safely manage calls. Privacy Alerts use machine learning to proactively notify users in real time when apps with device admin privileges unnecessarily attempt to access sensitive data, such as precise location, call logs or contacts. These alerts help users quickly understand when apps are seeking deeper access, so they can manage permissions with greater clarity and control.

Private Album, built directly into Gallery, lets users easily hide selected photos and videos without creating a separate folder or signing into a Samsung Account. To stay ahead of emerging threats, Galaxy S26 also extends Samsung’s innovation in post-quantum cryptography (PQC) to critical system processes, including software verification and firmware protection, strengthening device integrity for the future.

New updates to Knox Matrix further strengthen protection across connected Galaxy devices, adding PQC-enabled end-to-end encryption for more services such as eSIM transfers and clearer visibility into firmware update status across the ecosystem through Security Status of Your Devices.

These experiences are supported by Samsung Knox, the multi-layer security platform that protects Galaxy devices from the chip level up. For on-device Galaxy AI, Personal Data Engine (PDE) enables context-aware, personalised AI experiences. To keep this process safe, Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP) encrypts each app’s data, while Knox Vault adds a physical layer of protection that isolates sensitive data inside its own secure hardware. Together with settings that let users choose how AI features operate, Galaxy S26 combines hardware and software to deliver a comprehensive, system-wide approach designed to keep personal data protected.

These updates build on Galaxy’s existing security and privacy portfolio which includes Auto Blocker, Theft Protection, Private Sharing, Secure Wi-Fi and more. These layers of protection are designed to give users greater transparency, choice and control through Samsung’s continued mobile security innovation in the age of AI. And with seven years of security updates, Galaxy S26 helps keep these layers resilient over time — supporting longer, more confident use well into the years ahead.

Galaxy S26’s ease of use continues even when the phone is out of reach. The new Galaxy Buds4 series is a natural companion to Galaxy S26, extending everyday experiences beyond the phone while delivering rich and immersive hi-fi sound. When Galaxy S26 is paired with Galaxy Buds4, interactions can continue naturally in moments when using hands isn’t practical. Users can activate AI agents with their voices, manage calls through simple Head Gestures on Buds4 Pro, and stay connected without breaking their flow. Customers who pre-order Samsung Galaxy S26 Series will receive 10% off the new Galaxy Buds4 Series[25] from Samsung.com or Samsung Experience Stores.

Jabra Evolve3 85 first look

Jabra, a global leader in professional audio and video solutions, announcedthe launch of the Evolve3 series, the next generation of its market-leading headset lineup. Building on the success of Evolve and Evolve2, this latest evolution introduces a boomless mic design with class-leading comfort and portability, future-ready voice access for AI and real-time adaptive noise cancellation. It’s engineered to be the first true cross-over headset, built to meet the needs of today’s hybrid professionals and designed for day-to-day personal use.

The Evolve3 85 (over-the-ear) and Evolve3 75 (on-the-ear) offer professional-grade voice clarity and all-day comfort in a modern, contemporary and Danish design. Whether switching between meetings, concentrating on complex projects or using voice to activate AI tools, Evolve3 is built to match the pace and flexibility of modern work.

I have been testing these out for a few days but this does not warant a review just yet but I will say so far after initial testing these are specatular with the audio both on PC calls and listening to music so far and the size difference between the last model and these is remarkable and in my opinion not just a typical cautious spec bump most companies put out each year but rather a big leap foward.

Poor sound quality remains a top concern for today’s professionals, with 99 percent of knowledge workers reporting that bad audio impacts online meetings and call quality ranking as the number one pain point in headset use. Despite this, only 20% are using an enterprise grade headset and rely on other solutions, with 46 percent still bringing consumer headsets to work, which often lack the clarity, comfort and compatibility needed for professional communication.

There is a preference for consumer headset design, and Evolve3 is intended to meet this challenge with a cross-over experience that delivers professional grade performance paired with matching consumer expectations on design. For the first time, users will sound professional but look smart, regardless of wearing it for prolonged time in the office, being on calls in an airport, listening to media on a flight, taking meetings while commuting in traffic or any other situation where you need a headset. Evolve3 delivers clear speech in any environment, even outdoors, which is a significant step up in performance from the previous Jabra Evolve2 85 and 75 boom arm products.

Distraction-free conversations in any environment

Evolve3 features Jabra ClearVoice, a combination of deep neural network (DNN) technology and Jabra’s multi-mic algorithms. Inspired by how the human brain filters noise in a crowded room, and leaning on technology from GN’s hearing division, the DNN model processes layers of sound data to distinguish the user’s voice from surrounding noise without the need for a visible boom arm. This means you can now always be heard clearly on a call with all background noise blocked. This AI-driven approach works with the hardware to enable discreet mic placement while maintaining high level clarity.

Adaptive Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) responds in real time to both your environment and how the headset fits. Unlike most headsets, the ANC on Evolve3 85 and 75 continues to block out distractions even during calls, not just between them. Whether in a meeting or listening to music, Jabra Evolve3 helps users stay in the zone with fewer interruptions.

Designed for both work and pleasure

Unlike traditional professional headsets, Jabra Evolve3 85 and Jabra Evolve3 75 offer a minimalist design that fits the flexibility of modern work scenarios as well as most user’s wish for a clean, every-day look. This makes Evolve3 a true cross-over headset from professional to leisure use. The Evolve3 85 is an over-the-ear headset designed for immersive focus, while the Evolve3 75 offers an on-the-ear fit for lighter wear with greater environmental awareness. Both models are the most compact and lightweight design in their class, setting new standards for comfort and portability.

Voice-ready for the future of work

Evolve3 supports voice interaction through seamless and accurate access to Gen AI, enabling professionals to use voice input in mobile and screen-free scenarios. Powered by Jabra ClearVoice, this system uses AI-driven deep learning technology trained on more than 60 million real-world sentences to isolate speech from background noise with high accuracy. In real-world environments, it delivers AI-ready performance capturing 96% of words accurately across tested environments (99% in open office), even without a visible boom-arm. This helps users with AI prompts, to complete tasks, issue commands or dictate messages on the go. Voice input is up to three times faster than typing, making it a practical option for staying productive in mobile or screen-free situations.

Smart, secure and scalable

The Evolve3 series is certified for major UC platforms, includes a pre-paired Bluetooth adapter for instant and secure connectivity and supports Bluetooth Native for connection directly to devices. With the Jabra Plus Management software, IT teams can manage devices remotely, push firmware updates and configure settings through a central dashboard. End-users benefit from the new Jabra Plus mobile app with customisation options like equalizer controls, wind noise reduction and quick firmware updates from their smartphone. A desktop version of the Jabra Plus app will be available later in 2026.

Both headsets also feature replaceable batteries for extended product life, in compliance with repair legislation. With up to 25 hours of calls and 120 hours of music, wireless charging and fast charging that provides up to 10 hours of power in just 10 minutes, the Evolve3 series is designed to keep professionals connected and powered throughout the day.

Calum MacDougall, President at Jabra says, “In today’s hybrid world your work and life converge into one and with Evolve3 we deliver a real step-change in user experience of a professional headset. This series brings together industry-leading voice technology, a design you want to wear and seamless integration with the tools and platforms you rely on every day both professionally and personally.”

The Unseen Engine: How Enterprise Storage Is Powering Business Innovation in Ireland

In the pursuit of digital transformation, businesses often spotlight their cutting-edge applications, their multicloud strategies, or their latest AI models. Yet, behind each of these advancements lies a powerful, unseen engine: the enterprise storage platform. Ivor Buckley, Field CTO, Dell Technologies Ireland tells us more below

Once regarded as a back‑end system, enterprise storage has become a strategic platform that underpins innovation. As Irish organisations race to modernise services, comply with regulation and compete internationally, the way they store, protect, and govern data is turning into a fundamental differentiator.

Today’s IT leaders face a significant challenge. They must support an ever-expanding portfolio of workloads, from critical business databases to cloud-native applications and data-intensive AI projects. All this must be achieved within the constraints of tight budgets and limited staffing. The sheer volume of data being created and managed is staggering; global data generation is expected to reach 393.9 ZB by 2028 as per IDC. This explosion of information puts immense pressure on infrastructure that was not designed for this scale or complexity resulting in data foundations under strain

According to the latest Dell Innovation Catalyst Study, 48% of Irish organisations are prioritising data readiness for AI related workload, while 66% say they are still in their early or mid-stage of their AI/GenAI journey. This underscores a reality that organisations want to innovate but their data foundations and current storage systems are not fully equipped.

From Data Silo to Intelligent Hub

The perception of enterprise storage as a mere commodity is outdated. Modern platforms have become intelligent hubs that automate complex tasks and unlock new efficiencies. By integrating machine learning and advanced analytics, today’s storage systems can proactively optimise workload placement, predict performance bottlenecks before they occur, and simplify management tasks that once consumed countless hours.

This shift is relevant in Ireland, where businesses from multinationals to SMEs are accelerating digital transformation under the National AI Strategy. A study Dell undertook found that 96% of Irish organisations face challenges when it comes to identifying, preparing, and using data for AI/GenAI uses cases, with 40% struggle to integrate AI systems with existing IT infrastructure. Intelligent storage platforms directly address these pain points by reducing complexity and improving data accessibility without creating new data silos

For Irish businesses planning to expand their e-commerce operations and presence, a modern storage platform can intelligently prioritise these diverse workloads, ensuring that customer-facing applications remain responsive while they have high-speed access, they need to train their models that maintain the strategic initiatives that drive business growth.

Bridging Private Cloud and Multicloud for Seamless Innovation

In today’s digital landscape, businesses are increasingly faced with the decision to operate within a private cloud, adopt a multicloud environment, or find a balance between the two. Enterprise storage serves as the reliable backbone for these evolving strategies, delivering the infrastructure needed to provide both security and agility at scale.

For Irish businesses relying on private cloud infrastructure, enterprise storage provides robust data protection, predictable performance, and the confidence that sensitive information remains under their control.  As organisations here in Ireland expand further into multicloud setup, seamless data mobility becomes essential not just for storing data but also for making it accessible and secure wherever it resides.

According to the Dell study, 46% of local organisations plan to modernise their IT with intelligent infrastructure, and another 46% aim to optimise workload placement across edge, core, and cloud environments.

The right storage platform is central to both goals: it can synchronise data across environments, break down silos and help ensure that everyday operations remain stable even as new services and AI projects come online.

This reflects a clear shift towards hybrid architecture, a trend mirrored in Ireland’s public-sector digital transformation and the country’s growing cloud smart enterprise landscape.

Crucially, enterprise storage also addresses security, and compliance demands unique to both private and multicloud models. By providing unified management and strong governance features, these platforms make it easier for businesses across Ireland to implement consistent security policies and adhere to regulatory requirements. The result is an IT environment that’s not only flexible and responsive but also protected, adhering to regulation and aligned with business goals.

Fuelling the Future of AI and Analytics

Perhaps the most significant driver of storage innovation today is AI. AI and machine learning workloads are incredibly data-hungry, requiring massive datasets to be fed to powerful processors without delay. A bottleneck in the storage layer can bring an entire AI initiative to a standstill.

Modern enterprise storage platforms are engineered to meet these demands, delivering the high throughput and low latency needed to fuel advanced analytics. A healthcare provider, for instance, might use AI to analyse medical images to detect diseases earlier. This process requires rapid access to petabytes of high-resolution image data. An intelligent storage system ensures that this data is readily available, accelerating the model training process and ultimately improving patient outcomes.

One of the most significant developments in this space is the emergence of the data lakehouse – a modern data architecture that blends the flexibility of a data lake with the performance and governance of a data warehouse.

Rather than forcing organisations to move and duplicate data repeatedly into different silos, a Data Lakehouse strategy is about bringing AI to the data. By minimising unnecessary data movement and providing a single point of access, it helps address some of the biggest blockers to AI projects: fragmented data, inconsistent governance, and slow time‑to‑insight.

Modern Enterprise Storage Has Become the Unseen Engine of Digital Innovation

The journey of enterprise storage reflects the broader story of technological progress. What was once a simple utility has become a strategic enabler for Cloud, AI and data-driven services, quietly powering the applications and insights that define modern business. By embracing automation, enabling seamless data mobility, and delivering the performance needed for next-generation workloads, enterprise storage has become the unseen engine of digital innovation.

Irish businesses are operating in one of Europe’s most dynamic digital economies and the opportunity is clear. Ireland’s National AI Strategy aims to see 75% of Irish enterprises using cloud, AI, and data analytics by 2030. To fully realise this potential, businesses must proactively evaluate, adopt, and integrate these advanced solutions into their Cloud Operating Model. This isn’t just about keeping up, it’s about unlocking new levels of efficiency, innovation, and competitiveness. By investing in vital storage infrastructure, businesses of all sizes can simplify data management, scale with confidence, and accelerate their AI journey for the next wave of AI-driven transformation.

Microsoft achieves 100% renewable energy match for global electricity use

Microsoft today announced it has achieved a key sustainability milestone: matching 100% of its annual global electricity consumption with renewable energy as of 2025.

The milestone marks significant progress in Microsoft’s 2020 commitment to become carbon negative by 2030 and reflects more than a decade of investment in renewable energy infrastructure worldwide.

Since announcing its carbon negative ambition, Microsoft has contracted 40 gigawatts (GW) of new renewable energy capacity across 26 countries, working with more than 95 utilities and energy developers through 400+ contracts.

This milestone positions Microsoft among the largest corporate purchasers of renewable energy globally and reinforces the company’s leadership in driving market investment in carbon-free energy systems. According to Microsoft Ireland’s most recent economic and social impact report, the company has made an investment in 1GW of renewable energy capacity in Ireland.

In 2020, Microsoft announced a moonshot commitment to become carbon negative by 2030, accelerating work across our company to advance the partnerships and technologies needed to advance sustainability for our businesses, our customers and the world,” said Microsoft’s Chief Sustainability Officer, Melanie Nakagawa and President of Cloud Operations + Innovation at Microsoft, Noelle Walsh“A key milestone on this journey was our aim to match 100% of our annual global electricity consumption with renewable energy by 2025. Today, we are pleased to share that Microsoft has achieved this milestone. This progress helps drive investment into the power systems where we operate, expand clean energy supply and advance broader energy innovation.”

Driving global clean energy investment

Microsoft’s renewable energy journey began in 2013 with a single 110 MW power purchase agreement in Texas. Since then, its portfolio has expanded into one of the world’s largest corporate clean energy programmes, with partnerships with over 95 global energy suppliers.

The company has also pioneered innovative procurement models, helping scale repeatable and bankable clean energy frameworks across multiple markets, including first-of-their-kind corporate Power Purchase Agreement (PPAs) in Japan and hybrid renewable agreements in India.

Supporting communities and infrastructure

Microsoft’s renewable energy agreements have mobilised billions of dollars in private investment, supported thousands of jobs and embedded community-focused benefits including workforce training, local grants and infrastructure development. The company continues to work closely with energy developers and community partners to ensure clean energy projects deliver local economic and social value alongside environmental benefits.

Looking ahead: expanding carbon-free energy technologies

As global electricity demand accelerates – driven by electrification, AI and digital infrastructure – Microsoft says achieving 100% renewable energy matching is a milestone, not the endpoint.

Microsoft’s Climate Innovation Fund has allocated $806 million to 67 climate-focused investees, with 38% directed toward energy systems innovation.

The company is also deploying AI-driven tools to accelerate power system design, permitting and grid optimisation.
