Evolve IP Launches Anywhere Mobile – Putting The Power Of A Desk Phone Into The Hands Of Mobile Users

Evolve IP has launched a new Fixed Mobile Convergence [FMC] mobile solution, which seamlessly combines desk phone functionality within a personal mobile device, to further accelerate its ‘work from anywhere’ strategy.

The leading UCaaS collaborations provider has announced Anywhere Mobile which uses innovative eSIM technology, designed to streamline business communication into one personal device in a ‘best of both worlds’ scenario.

Powered by technology partner, Tango Networks, the service enables Evolve IP EMEA partners to have flexibility in device usage and encourages a BYOD (bring your own device) culture across a host of industries. This drives efficiencies and convenience by turning any employee’s personal mobile phone into a fully-featured business extension.

Making Business Mobile

Evolve IP Solutions Director, Scott Rixon says the new addition gives a business direct control over a second line on an employee’s phone, whilst personal communications remain private and secure. All business communications use the existing UC platform and business number.

“This represents a major step forward and offers a host of benefits to organisations and their staff,” he explained. “For example, it allows employees to use the mobile phones they like and are familiar with. It’s about working smarter and more effectively in an increasingly mobile-driven world. As it’s a full extension the presence of a user is visible, and the calls can be recorded and fully reported with reports and on dashboards. This should be thought of as just another way to take a call, supporting all our platform features.”

Anywhere Mobile is simple to use and requires no special apps, phone clients or training. It supports eSIM and physical SIMs. Furthermore, a business can reduce administrative overheads by eliminating personal phone expenses, according to Rixon.

“They can prevent employees from making business calls with personal numbers and retain business contacts when employees leave. Routing calls correctly means having proper call treatment, fewer missed calls and ultimately higher customer satisfaction.”

Work Anywhere Technologies

He says Anywhere Mobile offers the best of both worlds with added cost savings and convenience.

Rixon concluded: “This is another innovative addition to our Anywhere UCaaS Solutions. Anywhere Mobile is the latest UC solution we are excited to be offering to partners across EMEA after seeing a clear demand and understanding that mobile services should sit within the essential part of any UC offering. Empowering teams to have the tools that allow them to work anywhere.”

Lee Essex, SVP Global Sales and Marketing, Tango Networks, is equally enthusiastic and emphasised: “We are thrilled to partner with and support Evolve IP with their launch of Anywhere Mobile. As leaders in fixed mobile convergence, we want to work with fellow leaders in UCaaS. Evolve IP continue to show themselves as innovators in both technology and their approach to delivering customer focused outcomes. This collaboration underscores our joint commitment to delivering seamless communication solutions on a global scale.”

Tech Review – HONOR 200 Pro

The HONOR 200 Pro has been my main device the last couple of months and it is a device to behold if you are into photography, not only does it look good if feels good in the hand and grabs peoples attention and is one of my favourite devices this year so far.

We have gone over the specs before here so I will not waste time on that as most just read past it anyway but we also have done a detailed walkthrough of the phone here too so you can get some idea of what to expect if you have not picked this glorious phone up yet.

If you need a case for this beast you can check out the only one we could get so far here and then we will talk about this phone some more.

The design of the phone is nice and sits well in the hand despite the big hump on the rear this one looks better and gets resolved with a case for any table rock for those who like to use on a flat surface and the matte glass finish looks stunning with the curved edges and corners so no stabbing the palm of your hand here like other devices.

Most people who know me asked about the device when seen in hand or out for lunch all liked the design and colour of the phone and that large display not knowing what else was going on under the hood.

There is a big  5200mAh battery which will be music to people’s ears and that battery has held out well after several weeks of real world use and not a few days and with my workload and way too many apps it has been a solid day and a half phone most last a day, so for the average user you will easily get two days with 100w wired and 66w wireless charging on offer.

When it comes to use as a daily driver for me this sailed through everything without a hitch and as mentioned loaded to the gills with apps and my daily workflow so for those who want a powerhouse with a big display this is where it is at.

The display then is another topic which for me is also nice on this phone being a 120Hz Oled and is excellent for consuming media indoors and outdoors which for me is important.

The camera. Here is where the fun starts and it is one of if not the best camera on a phone so far this year especially when it comes to portrait mode and partnered with Studio Harcourt it is a powerful camera and in fact a daily driver for my Video reviews and people have noticed this even when it comes to sound but it is portraits here and they have the lead here without question.

The HONOR 200 Pro takes portrait photography to new heights with the powerful AI-enhanced HONOR AI Portrait Engine. With a rich history of photographing legends from Roger Federer to the esteemed Queen Rania of Jordan, Studio Harcourt is synonymous with timeless portraits that showcase a symphony of visual storytelling through the skillful use of light and shadows. In collaboration with Studio Harcourt, the HONOR AI Portrait Engine distilled Studio Harcourt’s craftsmanship and understanding of shadow and light expression, empowering users to capture unique, distinctive portraits on their smartphones effortlessly.

Camera image and Video Samples

Enhanced Hardware Performance for Seamless Connectivity

The HONOR 200 Pro is packed with a large 5200mAh Silicon-carbon battery that enables up to 61 hours of continuous music streaming on a single charge. To maximize user productivity, the HONOR 200 Pro features powerful supercharge capabilities. With lightning-fast 100W Wired HONOR SuperCharge and 66W Wireless HONOR SuperCharge, users can charge their device fully in only 41 minute making it the ideal device for busy users who are always on the go. The HONOR 200 Pro also provides an impressive 12GB memory and large 512GB storage drive, which allows users to store and access their data without limitations, guaranteeing a seamless and hassle-free experience.

Walkthrough of Phone

Equipped with the robust Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 Mobile Platform, the HONOR 200 Pro achieves a CPU clock speed of up to 3GHz, guaranteeing seamless graphics rendering and real-time responsiveness. Featuring MagicOS 8.0, the HONOR 200 Pro offers an intelligent user experience enriched with a range of AI-powered smart functionalities. MagicOS 8.0 also offers flagship features such as Magic Portal, Magic Capsule and Magic Ring on the HONOR 200 Pro that streamline user digital interactions.

Overall this phone for me is top notch and not focussing on AI gung ho like others but does offer some features it is a powerhouse of a phone, a tool for work and a camera that sends a message on how portrait photography is done on mobile.

Consumers spending 15% more with Revolut this year than last

Revolut, the European-licensed bank with more than 45 million customers worldwide, and over 2.8 million in Ireland, has crunched the numbers on Irish consumer spending over the last month, with the app’s own data revealing that two bumper weekends, a rise in tourism, and the start of the school holidays all saw spending rise.

Revolut’s consumer spending analysis tracked 55.6 million card payments in June, indicating several real-world spending trends by Ireland’s Revolut account holders. The total amount spent with Revolut has grown by over 15% (YoY increase) when comparing June 2024 with June 2023, which also accounts for the 16.5% rise in Revolut customers in Ireland in that time.

As part of its 2023 Annual Report, Revolut highlighted how its customer balances had grown across the board in Ireland by more than 50% (2022 vs 2023) and over 26% (2023 vs 2024 YTD, i.e. June). A growing number of consumers across the country are choosing from Revolut’s broad array of products, which are offered at competitive rates and provide a top-quality customer journey.

With spending on taxis, buses, and general commuter transport rising by more than 12%,  12.5%, and 4.25% respectively (MoM increases), it was clear that the June Bank Holiday, along with the final weekend of the month (which saw the Taylor Swift concerts, GAA quarter-finals, and Dublin Pride) drove a spending hike. Customers in Ireland headed for bars, cafes, restaurants, and nightclubs more often, with spending collectively rising by more than 10% (MoM increase).

Domestic and international tourism was also a factor in Ireland’s increased Revolut spending, with June being a popular time to visit the country. There was an 11% jump (MoM increase) in hotel spending, up more than 13% compared to last June. Meanwhile, spending in souvenir shops (16% MoM increase) and tourist attractions (17% MoM increase) shot up. Car rentals also skyrocketed 35% (YoY increase), as excited holidaymakers made their way around Ireland.

With some schools signing off for summer in early June, spending on children’s activities rose. The mid-month release of Disney’s ‘Inside Out 2’ can be attributed to the over 34% rise (MoM increase) in spending in cinemas. Amusement parks (26% MoM increase) and aquariums (19% MoM increase) also proved popular in June for those with kids.

Maurice Murphy, General Manager at Revolut Bank UAB – Ireland Branch, said: “The 15% rise in the amount of money customers are spending with us each month is notable. While we have continued to innovate at pace for the benefit of the Irish market, we’re also doing more to become people’s primary bank. Our customers are encouraged by what they see, and we will continue to encourage more to see Revolut as the bank they go to first time, every time. Overall, the bumper month of June provided a visible uplift to a variety of economic sectors.”

Revolut, a European-licensed bank, was recently recognised by financial comparison site Bonkers.ie as ‘Ireland’s Best Consumer Business’ and ‘provider of the Best Current Account’, while the company ranked 9th as part of the Ireland RepTrak® 2024 study earlier this year.

IT.ie forecasts €1M revenue increase from ethical hacking service

IT.ie, the Irish-owned Managed IT Services company, today announces that it expects to generate an additional €1M in revenue through an automated testing service that imitates the movements of hackers to uncover and exploit cybersecurity weak spots within organisations.

The company’s new penetration testing as-a-service (PTaaS), also known as pen testing or ‘ethical hacking’, is an automated cyber security solution designed to fully replicate a hacker’s attack on an organisation, as it attempts to exploit and gain access to its network. This forewarns the organisation to the potential dangers before cybercriminals have an opportunity to exploit them, potentially preventing an attack.

Pen testing has emerged as a key solution for businesses with the growth and increased sophistication of cyberattacks in the modern business landscape. As threats develop at a previously unforeseen rate, regular, automated testing – which takes into account human oversight – is essential.

The new service provides an in-depth scan of the organisation’s network to identify vulnerabilities. It then exploits any vulnerabilities found by replicating the actions of a hacker via a diverse and sustained attack.

PTaaS is preferable to traditional pen testing, which typically only occurs once per year. It represents a significant upgrade on the previous method, which was less precise, more expensive, and more prone to human error. Monthly assessments, however, allow organisations to constantly evaluate and reinforce their systems, enabling them to protect themselves from emerging threats.

Significantly, regular pen testing also enables a reduction in business’ insurance premiums, representing long-term cost savings. As insurance premiums for businesses continue to rise, PTaaS can reduce the likelihood of needing to pay out a ransomware attack – along with the associated costs of a major cybersecurity incident – making them less of a risk to insurance companies.

The new service is being introduced at a time of significant growth for IT.ie. Earlier this year, the company announced plans to double its headcount to 50 people by the end of 2025 and increase annual revenue to €8M.

Wayne Morgan, CTO at IT.ie, said: “To stay ahead of hackers, we must think like them and view our defences as their points of attack. Manual penetration testing led the way for many years, highlighting vulnerabilities in our networks and systems. Identifying these issues internally gave us time and direction to apply remediation steps before falling victim to malicious intent.

“Although this is effective at the time it is carried out, it fails to account for the dynamic nature of cyber threats. Hackers don’t just knock on your door once; they are constantly there, looking for ways in. Automated monthly pen testing is the next generation approach and is a much more effective means of testing your network to highlight any potential weaknesses, helping you to keep hackers at bay. This new innovative service offers cost-effective, monthly assessments, reducing costs and helping achieve regulatory compliance.”

“At IT.ie, we are determined that we remain at the cutting edge of cybersecurity and provide our customers with the most up-to-date services available as we continue to grow, and this new solution adds to our armoury.”

How Chargeback Prevention Alerts Save Merchants Time and Money

Chargebacks can seriously damage your merchants and cause significant revenue losses, which is why chargeback prevention alerts are essential for businesses of all types and sizes. But what are chargeback protection systems, and how exactly do they save you time and money? Let’s try to answer this question together.

What Are Chargeback Prevention Alerts?

To understand what a chargeback prevention alert is, we need to give the definition of a chargeback first. So, a chargeback is the procedure of refunding a customer after a dispute. From the customer’s point of view, chargeback is a great service that protects customers’ funds. At the same time, disputes are not good for businesses, especially if they are fraudulent, since they often come with significant money losses and reputation damage. Thus, chargeback prevention alerts, like Verififi or Ethoca, are the tools aimed at preventing disputes at early stages and, therefore, protect your merchants, revenue, and reputation.

How Do Chargeback Prevention Alerts Work?

In general, most chargeback prevention alerts have a similar work algorithm, which is the following:

  • The issuer notifies the chargeback prevention alert about a dispute
  • A special alert is sent to the merchant
  • Merchant issues a refund to prevent the chargeback procedure
  • The issuer receives an outcome

Of course, this workflow is generalized, and most modern services have sophisticated alerts that do more than just refund customers before a dispute is issued. So, in the next paragraph, we will talk more about merchant chargeback prevention services and their benefits for businesses.

What Are the Benefits of Chargeback Prevention Alerts for Merchants?

It is needless to say, chargeback prevention alerts have plenty of benefits, so let’s talk about those in more detail.

  • Revenue losses prevention. As we have already mentioned above, disputes are costly, which leads to significant revenue losses, especially if we are talking about small businesses. Chargeback back prevention alerts help prevent unnecessary costs and therefore save you money.
  • Penalty reduction. Not only do disputes require you to refund a customer, but also come with penalties, which often are pretty high. Luckily, high-quality alerts will protect you against chargeback and, therefore, penalties.
  • Time saving. It is a known fact that chargeback prevention systems save a lot of time on processing and resolving dispute requests, which is also a great benefit.
  • Approval rate growth. You probably already know that a high approval rate is important for smooth payment processing as well as the security of your merchants. Chargeback prevention alerts help significantly increase your approval rate.
  • Improved reputation. The fewer disputes you have — the better your reputation is, which is a pretty obvious benefit of most chargeback protection systems.

Of course, the most significant benefit for most businesses is definitely revenue losses prevention since business is all about making money. At the same time, all the benefits we mentioned above are pretty significant, which makes chargeback prevention alerts worth your attention.

Chargeback Costs and How Do Alerts Save Money?

As we have already mentioned above, chargebacks are costly, but just how much? Well, except for the product or service refund fee (which might also be a problem if you provided a service or sold a product that cannot be returned and resold), there are also many chargeback fees. In particular, depending on the merchant’s agreement with their acquirer, a dispute fee might vary from $20 to $100 for a single chargeback request. That price includes transaction costs, operational fees, as well as marketing and acquisition expenses. For example, let’s say you sold a product that costs $100, and a customer requested a chargeback. If you do not have any prevention alerts, you will pay for the following:

  • Transaction value: $100
  • Transaction fee (usually 4%): $4
  • Product costs (usually 23%): $23
  • Marketing expenses (about 35%): $35
  • Operational costs (20%): $20
  • Chargeback fee: $25
  • Total: $207

So, basically, because of a chargeback, a $100 purchase will cost you twice as much. Moreover, you might also get pretty costly fines and penalties if you have too many disputes. Fortunately, chargeback prevention alerts can significantly reduce this cost since most systems prevent disputes and refund customers before a chargeback procedure is started. In other words, you will only lose the product or service value. Additionally, if the product is returned and can be resold, you won’t lose a penny. That’s pretty much how alerts save your money and protect businesses from financial losses.

What Chargeback Protection Services to Choose?

There are dozens of chargeback prevention alerts available on the market today, but some of them are worth your attention more than others. So, let’s take a brief look at the top three chargeback prevention alerts for businesses of all types and sizes.

  • Verifi. It is a chargeback prevention alert developed by Visa, which makes it perfect for Visa transactions (though it is compatible with other transactions, too). Verifi offers a wide variety of useful features, such as Rapid Dispute Resolution (RDR), Order Insight, CRDN, Compelling Evidence 3.0, and more. Such functionality provides transaction security and reliable chargeback protection that will save you money and protect the reputation of your business, and you can have all of that within Gemius CRM.
  • Ethoca. This dispute prevention service is also an efficient tool for preventing chargebacks, especially for Mastercard payments. Ethoca is a great way to eliminate chargebacks as well as protect your merchants from fraud thanks to its Fraud Insights feature that provides merchants with all the info about declines and disputes. The good news is that you can get Ethoca easily and completely stress-free within Germius.
  • Kount. Last but not least, Kount is one of the market leaders that will provide AI chargeback prevention solutions and automated fraud protection for your merchants. Though this service is pretty expensive, it is reliable and definitely won’t let you down.

These were the leaders that are surely worth your attention and, most importantly, money, so pick one of those and won’t go wrong.

Wrapping Up

Chargeback prevention is essential for businesses of all types and sizes since it does help reduce revenue losses. So, no matter if you have a small handmade pottery online store or a large corporation, chargeback protection is something you simply cannot neglect.

Tech Review – emporia ME6 smartphone

The emporia ME6 smartphone is one with two faces you could say with more thrown in for those who want to keep things simple and play it up with just the normal Android skin.

emporia is known for their simple phones and with last year having their first full fledged smartphone so to speak the SMART 6 but still keeping it easy with this one you can pick which way you want to go and gear up for the full experience when confident enough too even the convoluted sub menus Android has to offer.

It is like any other smartphone when it comes to the specs for their price point which in this instance is very good after testing out and seeing it at launch so I will not bore you to tears with specs etc that are listed below and a detailed video walkthrough so you can see what you are getting into.

The build quality is excellent here in my view and looks more premium than one would expect with nice soft edges that do not dig into your palm and a nice camera array set-up on the rear and prying eyes will be asking questions especially with the red circled heart icon on the rear which we are custom to with emporia devices and that is the panic button that can be remapped to take photos if you wish you can also use it for a torch silent mode or have it do nothing. The camera set-up is just nice anyway and not a huge hump we tend to see to much of today and is annoying now.

You now have an information center on board too which keeps all in one place similarly to your standard phone today but kept simple however this is only on simple mode. There is talkback mode which reads all actions done on device which is really handy. You can see more in the video below on how to switch between modes and it is simple and a key feature thanks to that little man in the corner that I labelled.

Ok so daily tasks then, this phone performs rather well not that the target market would have the phone loaded to the hilt like me but I loaded it and it done as any other phone has done so there is plenty of power under the hood should you happen to have a lot going on like me which is OTT for most daily users.

The screen is vibrant by the way and excellent for media consumption and you have biometric options with face or fingerprint unlock which both worked well you also have audio description to let you know what is going on in supported movies and shows.

Multitasking is fine doing your social and emails is fine and any other taxing applications you might have on the go.

The camera is decent too even with low light shots it is not the best in the world of what you would expect from a 1000 euro plus phone It did a decent job with excellent audio on recording too again you can decide with the samples below.

If you like music well this phone has a trick up its sleeve too and the audio experince is excellent and helped me out alot when testing other product the last few weeks it also has a super voice input option for recording text and ASHA support which means you can stream audio directly into the hearing aids via LE bluetooth.

Overall this is a decent mid range phone for someone who wants that bit more but there is much more under the skin here packed with features for those with some difficulties and certainly something they need in their life.

Key use case scenarios

1) The user makes the decision: clear, easy user interface or conventional Android mode.  The emporiaME.6 starts up in the familiar Android mode by default. The mobile phone can be switched to the clear, reduced easy mode with just two presses. Or straight back again. It is a conscious decision that YOU make.

2) The Info Centre, which is only available in simple mode.  This is where all notifications come together in one place. Whether it’s a missed call, new email, WhatsApp message or a notification from Facebook Messenger, you can keep an eye on everything here.

3) The external, directly accessible panic button. Press firmly once and help is automatically called. Good to know if you’re walking home alone at night, for example. Or if you are planning a lonely mountain tour. 360 hours (15 days!) of standby time should be enough even in this case.

Normal and easy modes on the emporia ME6

Features

  • 5G smartphone, 6.58-inch touchscreen
  • Physical panic button with 999 / Quick-key
  • Triple-lens 50+2+TOF-MP back camera
