With iDMobile launching very soon, KillBiller will be the only place that people can find out how much iD mobile plans will cost them – we’re the only ones with tariffs!says Bart Lehane
New mobile operator to spark price war, says mobile plan recommendation service KillBiller
-The New report by KillBiller, the Irish mobile plan recommendation service, says new mobile operator iD will deliver significant savings to Irish mobile users
– iD is set to be the most competitive 4G network on launch, being the cheapest operator for over 75% of 4G customers
– iD plans available in the KillBiller application from today (17th August)
The introduction of a new mobile operator will significantly shake up the Irish mobile market, says a new report by KillBiller, the Irish mobile phone plan recommendation service.
KillBiller analysed a database of over 15,000 Irish mobile users and over 350 plans as part of this comprehensive report, including plans seen exclusively by KillBiller in advance of the launch of iD. The report looks at the impact of iD, as Ireland’s newest mobile operator, on the Irish mobile market.
The KillBiller report reveals that iD will have most impact on the 4G network. It will be the best value 4G mobile operator at launch, with over three in four Irish smartphone users (76.2%) finding the best priced 4G plan with iD.
Its closest competitor in the 4G space will be Three, who will have the cheapest 4G plan for 14.3% of users.
When you consider both 3G and 4G, iD will be the best value for just under one in three Irish smartphone users (31.5%).
Tesco Mobile is the cheapest overall for four in ten users (42.4%), however, it should be noted that none of the Tesco Mobile plans include 4G data.
Vodafone is the most expensive operator on 3G and 4G; it is only best value for 1.8% of users.
Its findings reveal that the average SIM-only plan on iD will cost customers just €20.18 per month, this is €166[1] per annum less than the average billpay cost per user across the Irish market.
Commenting on the report, Bart Lehane said: “iD’s introduction is going to significantly add to the amount of competition in the market, which is good news for consumers. We know that there is a lot of wastage in the Irish mobile market. Based on our findings, iD will deliver plans that will result in genuine savings for the consumer. While consumers can expect iD to be strongest in the 4G space, overall, it will have the best value plan for one in three people on both 3G and 4G.”
Bart Lehane also predicts a reaction from other operators: “The entry of a new operator will always be watched closely by its competitors. Given how competitive iD is set to be at launch, we can expect to see the other operators react with offers and updated propositions. With increased competition in the market, we would advise consumers to shop around to find the best value plan that best suits their usage requirements. The KillBiller app will perform an phone audit for you and recommend the cheapest plan based on your actual call/SMS/data usage, meaning it is the most accurate way to select a mobile phone plan.”
KillBiller’s report into the impact of iD on the Irish mobile market analysed the phone usage data of over 15,000 Irish mobile phone users. Over 7.9 billion cost calculations were made as part of the report, with 350 plans – both prepay and billpay – analysed.
The flip design maybe getting a comeback, back in the 90s they where popular and today we hardly see them at all and only recently LG announced the LG WINE which is also a clamshell flip Phone and today Samsung have announced one but its china bound so it wont be appearing on our shores,so if this is your thing its an import job.
The dual-screen flip phone device comes with two 3.9 768p Super AMOLED displays (768 x 1280 – WXGA) protected by Gorilla Glass 4 and a front facing camera with 6MP and powered by a Snapdragon 808 chip with a hexa-core processor, 2GB RAM and 16GB of expandable storage.
We often wonder how hard it is to mend or repair devices and every device has to be repairable and some devices are easier to fix than others, from past experience in the repair sector myself they are getting harder and now involve more than your torx key set and a few bits and bobs, with the devices getting better and becoming uni-bodied as a near standard work is no easy task for some phones today. However this is the job for the guys at IFIXIT who love to get their hands on the latest and greatest devices on the market and give them points on repair-ability , lets see how the One Plus 2 fairs out this time after last years 5/10 for the original One Plus.
Self-styled as the “2016 flagship killer,” the OnePlus 2 steps into the Android phone market with circus-clown-sized shoes to fill. After the OnePlus 1’s lackluster repairability score last year, we’re hopeful that the new model brings some refinements and improvements for repair-minded folk like ourselves.

Samsung have today announced a keyboard attachment which is reminiscent of BlackBerry and Nokia E-Series,why for such a big phone sporting a huge screen with a more than capable keyboard is anyone’s guess but some seem to think its for those who miss Blackberry and trying to get some of the Blackberry pie… Will many people buy the keyboard, I dont think so to be honest but nonetheless is an option for buyers that prefer that physical touch… Perhaps it is better than it looks..Many people today still do miss the physical keyboard or either hate it so its a good move I guess from Samsung covering all angles especially current BlackBerry users ..
BlackBerry have yet to officially unveil the much rumored Venice device but here is what we are looking at comparing the two side by side…. Thinking ahead Samsung ??
No price has been quoted for this piece of hardware, its expected to go on sale same time as the Note 5 hits stores.. The keyboard just snaps onto the Note 5 so its a simple process to connect both together..
What do you think of this and would price sway you toward a purchase ???
Samsung have announced more members of the Galaxy Edge and Note range which are the S6 Edge Plus and the Note 5 its not long since the S6 and Edge have been on sale and a new Edge model so soon ?? On the other hand the Note Series is out quite a while and the last entry was the Note 4 last year which is still a popular device, however sale of the 6 and 6 edge have been poor due to the price structure and Samsung have recently cut the prices here to try attract more sales, will it work ?? Perhaps so, time will tell at the next financial announcement…Prices for the duo for the US have been announced and again they are high (We are talking around €800)but lets see what happens when they arrive on our shores, given that they are nice devices so lets take a look……. Both devices are available globally starting from August, 2015. Both have 32GB or 64GB storage options available in White Pearl, Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum and Silver Titanium . The plastic has been ditched from the Note 5 and both follow the same design language as the S6/Edge.

Samsung Mobile continues to push boundaries with premium Galaxy smartphones that offer users ultimate productivity. The newly redesigned Galaxy Note5 is a powerful tool for doing more. The Note range has always been a favourite of mine since the Note 1 and its been a popular handset and excellent for productivity..
Dropbox has added support for USB key authentication. This new feature can be used as part of a two-step verification – Users will be able to insert their USB key after typing their password instead of entering digits..Dropbox users will probably welcome this move which is a good idea.
Security keys are an easy way to use two-step verification when signing in to dropbox.com. After typing in your password, just insert your key into a USB port when you’re prompted, instead of typing in a six-digit code. And unlike two-step with a phone, you’ll never have to worry about your battery going dead when you use a security key.
How do I use it?
You’ll need a security key that follows an open standard called “FIDO Universal 2nd Factor (U2F)” from the FIDO Alliance. This U2F key can then be set up with your Dropbox account and any other U2F-enabled services, such as Google.
Once you have a key, go to the Security tab in your Dropbox account settings and click Add next toSecurity keys. Currently, U2F is only supported for dropbox.com using the Chrome web browser. Signing in from a device or platform U2F isn’t supported, or don’t have your key on hand? Don’t worry — you’ll still have the option to use two-step verification through text message or an authenticator app.
Just when you thought you seen it all ….No sex doctor required here… REAL tech for your dangly bits is here,NO not silly expensive pointless toys for your pleasure… You can now protect your fertility with underwear, yes that’s right….So if you carry you mobile around all day in your jeans pocket this maybe for you although there is still speculation on Wi-Fi having any mundane effect on mens crown jewels…or if being near your PC or Laptop causes any ill effects..Study tells different though..So in short lads it’s a faraday cage for your ball’s.
