#SipSup – A Mobile connected glass serves you your favourite drink, but also your favourite moments. #Kickstarter

SipSup, the uniquely designed social glassware, launched a Kickstarter campaign today. The 42- day Kickstarter campaign has a funding goal of $30,000 that will be used to begin mass production and app development.

Using a specialized NFC chip (for Android phones) and Visual ID (for iOS phones) to enable communication between a smartphone and the SipSup glass, users can drop and view photos and videos that commemorate idyllic life moments. Our ever-present smartphones have changed photography. They are always with us and we can now capture every single moment of our lives. What smartphones also changed is how we look at our photos.

“It’s funny how I carry all these photos in my pocket and I almost never look at them” Miha, SipSup co-founder.

“Dropping” captured moments easily into a SipSup drinking glass inspired the team to create a base that resembles a ripple effect, like a drop falling into water. After many prototypes and testing, the glassware was created with a tall, curved shape, designed to fit naturally in the drinker’s hand. SipSup can be used for coffee, smoothies, a cold mojito, or the iciest craft beer. SipSup glasses are uniquely designed in collaboration- tion with local Slovenian glassworks, Steklarna Hrastnik.

All glassware from the company has a Vitrux certificate, which guarantees that products from can be washed up to 3,000 times in a dishwasher without retaining a single scratch. The glass is free of heavy metals and yet achieves brilliance of the crystal. Backers for the Kickstarter campaign could receive a multitude of exclusive gifts, including original, custom prototypes that had the SipSup chip in the bottom of the glass instead of the side.

The final version of the glass contains the SipSup chip on the side, displaying the SipSup logo, which increases visibility and ease of use when uploading photos and videos. For more information on SipSup, or the Kickstarter campaign, visit SipSup.me

The SipSup app is free and will be available for Android and iOS devices, however, you can access the app only with a SipSup drinking glass.

Using a specialized NFC chip (for Android), or visual ID (for iOS) within the SipSup logo on the drinking glass, users can drop photos to be recalled in the future via SipSup app. Using the SipSup app, you can choose favorite photos and videos that you’d like to keep personal(private folder), or share (public folder) it with anyone who taps your SipSup glass.

Post-it feature is created for so your friends, family or other visiting guests can interact with you. They can leave you private messages on the photo only you will be able to see.

Connecting tradition with modernity. SipSup glasses are crafted in collaboration with local Slovenian glassworks, Steklarna Hrastnik. SipSup glasses have Vitrux certificate, which on the basis of research of independent laboratories guaranties that products can be washed up to 3,000 times in a dishwasher and remain without a single scratch. The glass is free of heavy metals and yet achieves brilliance of the crystal.

#Twitter adds autoplay video feature on web and iOS by @Tiwaash

Changes are good specially when they are done to simplify our actions and that’s what Twitter has done today with the videos. Twitter has been working constantly to improbe the user experience and also to do do away with the number of taps. Twitter said

Today, it’s become even easier to enjoy video on Twitter. Now native videos, Vines and GIFs will begin to play back automatically. So you can keep up with the action without missing a Tweet and get a better sense of what’s been shared instantly.

Once you tap the video, sound will turn on and the video will continue to play in an expanded view. If you turn the video to landscape mode, the sound will automatically turn on and the video will expand to fill the screen. Although you have ultimate control through your settings. You can choose to revert to the previous click-to-play experience all the time or simply have videos autoplay only when you’re connected to wifi.

This feature is made available to users on the web and iOS, Android users will get this feature soon, but there is no news for WindowsPhone users.

LG Electronics and Nokia Technologies agree on smartphone patent license. #Nokia #LG

News just in from LG and Nokia

LG Electronics has agreed to take a royalty-bearing smartphone patent license from Nokia Technologies. The Korean company is the latest of more than 60 licensees for Nokia’s 2G, 3G and 4G mobile communication technologies and the first major smartphone manufacturer to join the licensing program since Nokia divested its Devices & Services business to Microsoft in 2014.

Ramzi Haidamus says

“We are pleased to welcome LG Electronics to our licensing program,” said Ramzi Haidamus, President of Nokia Technologies. “We’ve worked constructively with LG Electronics and agreed a mutually beneficial approach, including the use of independent arbitration to resolve any differences. This agreement sets the scene for further collaboration between our companies in future.”

The detailed royalty payment obligations will be subject to commercial arbitration, expected to conclude within a 1-2 year timeframe. Other terms of the agreement remain confidential between the two companies.
