Firefox Brings Fresh new Look to Windows 10 #FireFox #Browser #Windows10

Firefox has a new look for Windows 10 for those who use,my primary search engine would be Google and have hardly ever used Firefox either on desktop or mobile yet alone windows..Given Windows 10 users will use Edge or Google its nice to see that its available for the fans of the search engine, also included is safer ad-ons…

Firefox say on their blog..

You’ll also notice bigger, bolder design elements as well as more space for viewing the Web. We had a lot of fun building this version of Firefox and we hope you’ll enjoy the new look.

Also they have created a restore or choose Firefox as your default browser in Windows 10 for your convenience.

Firefox also helps you preserve your choice when using the search field on the Windows 10 taskbar to search the Web. When using this search field, Windows 10 launches your default browser but only shows search results in Microsoft Bing. When you have Firefox set as your default browser on Windows 10, all your Web searches from the taskbar search field will show results in the default search engine you choose in Firefox.

Making Third Party Add-ons Safer in Firefox

Add-ons are another important aspect of how you control and customize Firefox. Add-ons will continue to provide limitless possibilities for customizing the look and functionality of Firefox, but today we’re also taking steps to ensure that using add-ons is a safe and secure experience for  users. Firefox  announced a process to certify add-ons based on guidelines we have provided to add-on developers.

Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 616 processor with 4G LTE support in their Snapdragon 600 lineup successor of the Snapdragon 615 SoC that was introduced last year. This has the same Quad-core ARM Cortex A53 + Quad-core ARM Cortex A53 arrangement, but the second set of Cortex A53 cores are clocked at 1.2GHz per core, compared to 1GHz in the Snapdragon 615 processor.

It has integrated X5 LTE Global Mode modem and the same Adreno 405 GPU present in the Snapdragon 615 chip. The 212 takes off from the 616 with its single cluster of Cortex-A7 being upped to 1.3GHz from 1.1GHz in the 210.

#Google gets new CEO as Co-founders experiment with new venture, #Alphabet by @Tiwaash

Sundar Pichai, the man who has long been the senior vice president of products like Chrome and Android will now serve as the CEO of Google and will take on the position earlier helmed by Larry Page. Confused?? This is true that Google now has a new CEO to care of the operations, thinking of what’s going on in Google?? Well, Google has restructured and the founders have a new venture Alphabet.

Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin are starting a new company called Alphabet. While there’s nothing very remarkable in that, the real bombshell is that Google will now be rolled under Alphabet alongside other more ‘risky’ ventures. Under Alphabet, Google is expected to be a leaner entity with a focus on the core products that the company is famous for.

Larry Page will take over as CEO of Alphabet, Sergey Brin will function as the President and current Google Chairman, Eric Schmidt, will be presiding as the executive chairman of Alphabet. All in all, the move while surprising is certainly very interesting and might we say good for business as well as investors.

Alphabet will act as an umbrella corporation for ventures like Nest, Google X, Google Fibre amongst others. For quite sometime, the search giant has been gaining mass in the form of acquisitions like Nest, Calico and home grown ventures like Fibre, Fi. Under the newly streamlined company, these add-ons that have been acquired will be spun off from Google and will operate as individual companies under Alphabet. Here onwards, Google will focus on its core competencies like search, advertising, maps, Android and Youtube.

By removing the bread and butter generating company from the equation, Larry Page & Sergey Brin are free to explore risky moonshot ventures without jeopardizing Google itself. We’ll just have to wait and watch how this one shapes out.

Stay tuned for more tech buzz.

Gardaí issue warning about a telephone scam #Vishing #Scam #Phone

Another day another scam, its a daily thing these days and something to keep in mind, there is still people that are vulnerable to these scams and that’s why they keep cropping up,be it an email, phone call or sms, they are here and by no means going away soon..Recently there has been an increase in scams hitting WhatsApp and Viber so common sense prevails,if it looks to good to be true it aint and just ignore any strange messages.

The Independent reports

The ‘vishing’ scam sees people receive calls from someone posing to be a ‘security manager’ for a well-known retailer.

The caller contacts unsuspecting people to tell them their credit or debit card has been fraudulently used at the store.

The ‘security manager’ then asks for the people to give their personal financial details. If people refuse to pass over their details, the ‘manager’ tells them to contact their bank or the gardaí to give them the information.

They then hang up and in some cases will call the gardaí or bank on the same landline.

However, the fraudsters on the other end of the line will stay on the phone, and an accomplice will pretend to be the gardaí, convincing people to hand over their details.

Gardaí have reported that a number of people have given over their financial details this way, and in some cases have allowed money to be taken out of their bank accounts.
