Better late than never but our Nokia 8 has arrived this week although familiar with it by now we will just have a quick overview of the device today. The Nokia 8 has been out some time now and available on all networks bar the eir network and we also attended the Nokia 8 launch in London a few months ago which we had some time to play with it there and see all its features. The Nokia 8 is the current flagship on offer keeping in line with the device portfolio design language it looks nice is built well and its a solid performer.
Pricewise the Nokia 8 is priced well within the Irish market compared to other flagships but there is the threat with any smartphone maker from the new OEMs such as One Plus and XIAOMI just to mention two but Huawei could be considered also but they are also now going down the highly priced route like Apple and Samsung with phones touching 1000 euro or over this trend is not really an attractive price point for many,even on bill pay asking for up to €650 approx deposit on a certain plan this is just nuts.
Speaking of the OEM threat it’s also a factor to consider as they can’t be bought here and having issues with the devices is an issue itself with returning them although things have logistically got better its still an annoyance compared to a service you can get here at home with your provider or insurance company although i find the insurance companies to be a pain in the ass.

Yesterday it was announced that Android Oreo was made available to the owners of the flagship Nokia 8 but this did not specifically mention Ireland. Some think and perhaps are right in some ways relevent information for the UK is tied with Ireland but I have been constantly checking my Nokia 8 since the announcement yesterday but it was a fruitless exercise but most of us are aware updates roll out in waves.
If you have not picked up the new Nokia 3 yet this might be the chance for you to get a great device for peanuts. The Nokia 3 not only runs Android but is a really well built device too and will get the Oreo update in the coming weeks which has been clarified by HMD Global. This device is not for power users but for those whom want a device to get things done and it also sports a really good camera for the pricepoint its in. We have been using one some months now and if you have any quesitons on the device feel free to ask.

As seen this offers some more than the standard Nokia Steel and naturally costing that bit more which weighs in at €189.95 for the 36mm and €199.95 for the 40mm with free shipping but its available in limited quantities for now according to Nokia Health.
You can also customise this piece with wristbands and it comes in two sizes which is 36mm and 40mm. This watch offers to monitor your heart rate and activity tracking which the Nokia Steel did not have the heat rate monitor present,this also looks much nicer too,This also comes with a 2 year warranty and lasts up to 25 days on one charge and of course works with the Health Mate App..
The Nokia 3310 3G variant is now available at MVNO tesco mobile for a tidy price of €59.99 this is not to be confused with the 2G variant people complained about considering it was more a nostalgic offering which was first made available some months ago and until the fans screamed for a 3G version HMD Global delivered the 3G version of the retro a few weeks ago which has been available on some of our networks here.This is coming in at the same price as the former at €59.99 which would be seen as good value, check it out below or head to Tesco Mobile for more.
