Have you ever been on a trip and desperately needed an internet conection but couldn’t find a wifi spot and so avoiding to owe your soul to the carrier by roaming?

Well, here we have something to assist never being in that position again.

Introducing WifiMapper

wifimapperAs the app name suggests what it does is pretty simple, it shows you in a map where you can find FREE WI-FI spots with some green dots on the screen.

“The circle shows the place”

When you tap a location on your map, it will tells some relevant information such as:

– What the location is
– Name of the connection
– If you need to register to use it
– Connection speed
– If it’s an unsecured network or not.

and other some minor details.

You can also see if the connection isn’t actually free and help to keep update the data.

The app is Powered by Foursquare so apart from having the needed internet information, you’ll also get information about the place (would be good having a good coffee with the “free” internet)

To use the app you’ll need to log in with your Facebook account, and soon would be possible to use Google +

The app is Free and it’s available on IOS and Android

Help stop illegal dumping and pollution with #SeeItSayIt app. #Ireland #Dumping #EPA

Illegal dumping has always been a problem but over the years with systems such as CCTV you would think it has eased off, apparently not, people move along and find somewhere else to illegally dump rubbish and more,an attributing factor to this is of course charges and they are reportedly going up next year again with stopping the flat charge and moving to a “charge by weight” system.

Featured on Countrywide on over the weekend there was talk of a new app,one I have not heard of and its got to do with PureProject1 so its worth letting more people know about the app. I hate the sight of rubbish on the side of roads myself or anywhere for that matter.

This App makes it really easy to report environmental pollution (Republic of Ireland only) with the GPS location and a photo submitted at the touch of a button. It is a simple app to use with easy steps to follow..All you need to do is take a photo add some details and thats it,then press send.

The app will send the GPS coordinates and will make it easy for those investigating to locate the problem. This will allow your local County or City Council to follow up on the complaint.

Additional information

You can also use the App to make a phone call to the National Environmental Complaints Line 1850 365 121. The phone line is open 24hrs a day, 7 days a week and all calls will be answered by dedicated staff. The details of the complaint, such as location, nature of the complaint, will be recorded and passed to the relevant local authority, and followed up by them, the Gardaí or the EPA as appropriate.

#PiggySmalls – A virtual savings app for kids. #Apps #iOS #Saving #Kids

Kids love to save money and the traditional piggy bank is quite popular and very common amongst kids these days but that is still all too tempting to break open and dip into the savings, there is now another alternative called Piggy Smalls and its an app, this way at last ensures your child cant dip into their savings and perhaps learn the value of money,at the end of the week/month you can then give your child some hard real cash to the amount you have given over whichever period suits..This also is another way of having no coins lying around them house which can be annoying at times.

Here is how the app works and its quite simple..give it a go and tell us what you think of it.

1. Every week (or whenever you want) you send a package of money to your kid, from the same app
2. The child opens the package and drags the coins to the piggy.
3. When the child needs real money, you as a parent give him/her real money, and remove the same amount from the virtual piggy. Or you might want to move real money to the child’s own account whenever a certain amount of virtual coins is saved.

The parental functions (adding/removing piggies, sending/removing coins) are protected by a pin code that you create in the beginning so there is no worry about the children getting to do something they are not supposed to.This is a nice built in feature as kids are much more clever these days with the amount of technology that surrounds us.

Find your nearest Garda station with an app. #Apps #Irish #Garda #iOS @GardaTraffic

There is an app for just about anything these days and recently we even seen one for Marmite, but this app is much more useful than the Marmite app and it can tell you where your nearest Garda Station is.

The app has been created by John Keane and is GPS based which gives you the nearest stations with all the details required and its all free. You can also search the app for stations too should you need to do so.

Future additions are on the way such as hospitals which again sounds like a neat idea.

Download the App on iTunes And don’t forget to share from below..

They say there is an app for everything. Now there is a #Marmite App #Apps #Tech

Questions may be asked here as to why bother but its here yes a Marmite app I kid you not.It is only available on iOS for now but we may see it spread to Android at a later date..The app has been developed to transform the way Marmite is consumed forever!

The app features Unique personalisation features within the app include; spreading style (do you dollop, smudge or scrape?), current jar status (are you barren or brimming?) and bespoke push notifications (does your Marmite need some TLC?). yes this is its description it the store…

A spokesperson for Marmite said: “We wanted to change the way people interacted with Marmite in a deeper, more meaningful way. The growth of apps that enhance our lives is undeniable and we’re excited to be entering the market with a first in spreadable tech. #Twitter adds autoplay video feature on web and iOS by @Tiwaash

Changes are good specially when they are done to simplify our actions and that’s what Twitter has done today with the videos. Twitter has been working constantly to improbe the user experience and also to do do away with the number of taps. Twitter said

Today, it’s become even easier to enjoy video on Twitter. Now native videos, Vines and GIFs will begin to play back automatically. So you can keep up with the action without missing a Tweet and get a better sense of what’s been shared instantly.

Once you tap the video, sound will turn on and the video will continue to play in an expanded view. If you turn the video to landscape mode, the sound will automatically turn on and the video will expand to fill the screen. Although you have ultimate control through your settings. You can choose to revert to the previous click-to-play experience all the time or simply have videos autoplay only when you’re connected to wifi.

This feature is made available to users on the web and iOS, Android users will get this feature soon, but there is no news for WindowsPhone users.

Moments by Facebook – Update creates music videos from photos #Facebook #Moments #Apps

Update – Now automatically creates music videos from your photos. 25/08/15

Facebook have just announced a new standalone app called Moments by creative labs which debuts in the US for now and its available on Android and iOS,its set to roll out to more regions over the coming weeks, the app basically helps you sync pictures with friends should you have missed the chance to take a snap yourself, explained below on their blog post.

Syncing photos with the Moments app is a private way to give photos to friends and get the photos you didn’t take. Moments groups the photos on your phone based on when they were taken and, using facial recognition technology, which friends are in them. You can then privately sync those photos quickly and easily with specific friends, and they can choose to sync their photos with you as well. Now, you and your friends have all the photos you took together.

Moments also keeps all of your synced photos organized and even lets you search them to find the ones that you or specific friends are in.

Moments uses facial recognition technology to group your photos based on the friends who are in them. This is the same technology that powers tag suggestions on Facebook. You can control tag suggestions in your Settings.

Download Moments from the App Store or Google Play.

Apple testing Ad Blocking feature for Safari by @Tiwaash #Apple #iOS

Annoyed of the popping ads on the web pages?? Well you might soon have a solution to it with a blocker built into the Safari browser both on the iOS 9 and the Mac OS X El Capitan versions. The new functionality allows apps to give Safari rules about blocking cookies, images, other resources, pop-ups and other content.

Anyway, the content blocking functionality is present in the developer beta of iOS 9 and will be in Mac OS X El Capitan too. Blocking apps will be allowed into the app store later this year.

Add the dreamy “back button” to your iPhone6 or 6+ with the guys of @Smart_Halo By @VicenteA_George #Iphone6 #haloback

One of the many reason why I’m not a big Apple fan is hardware, specially the lack of the back button, I don’t like all my apps to run in the background.

Well, that particular reason is about to be useless thanks to the guys of Halo Back and their “Smart Screen Protector”.

The guys of Halo Back have been working on this for the last four years and they finally have it.

I have pretty big hands and even I have some troubles to reach the upper left corner of phone; I know that IOS has a “Back gesture” and the “Double tap on the Home Button”, but I always found way more easier just have it right where it should be.

This “Smart Screen Protector” is unique on its territory, besides protect your phone from even explotions (it was really cool read this) it add the only thing that all your Android and WP friends always make fun of you,

THE BACK BUTTON

But let’s take a look to what are they offering us:

How it works? is much easier than you think:

Our fingers conduct electricity, which is used to trigger the actions on “capacitive touchscreens” (the one that all phones have) and the guys of Halo Back, added a circuit layer to traditional glass screen protector.

It helps to lead current when you press lower left corner of the screen, so that’s how the “new back button” works.

Here’s an example of how to install and use one in your phone:

Here are the specs:
Compatibility: iPhone 6 | iPhone 6 Plus
Crystal Clear: High-grade tempered glass provides ultimate clarity. Its nano coating repels natural skin oils making Glass simple to keep clean and looking great.
Height: 130mm | 150mm  Width: 59mm | 69mm  Depth: 0.21mm  Weight: 6g | 8g

As you can see they have thought a lot about it, and you can help they dream (and if you’re like me, yours too) to come true on our beloved Kickstarter for just $17.

And it will be nice taking in consideration the estimated retail price of $49

If everything works as it should it would be awesome! (and I’ll have to stand my Iphone friends for ages…)

You can order your HERE
