Jabra today have announced their first true wireless sports earbuds under its new Elite franchise. They are a true training aid which are waterproof and delivers freedom of movement, ground-breaking in-ear fitness analysis, strong battery life and great music for anyone who wants to work out. Jabra are a regular here at techbuzz and of late their products have been quality and we continue to use when applicable which is quite often.. The Elite Sport supports all major smartphone operating systems (both Android & iOS) and also has a focus on the in-call experience. This is thanks to earbuds that analyse external sounds and automatically switch to the earbud with least background noise. These state-of-the-art earbuds deliver superior audio quality for calls and music without wires.
True wireless for true freedom
Designed with true freedom in mind, Jabra Elite Sport delivers a cord-free wearing style whether you choose to use one or both earbuds. They offer outstanding stereo sound for calls and music, as well as full sports functionality.
With an array of ear gels and ear wings presented in-box, as well as foam tips for passive noise-cancellation and enhanced bass, you can be confident of a secure, comfortable fit. At the same time, audio pass-through allows you to hear your surroundings at the touch of a button.
When it comes to phone calls, Jabra Elite Sport benefits from two integrated microphones in each earbud. One captures your voice and the other focuses on external noise. Together, the earbuds overlay the two feeds, identify the background noise and remove it, allowing you to take calls without interruption, listen to your favourite songs or hear in-ear training tips. If a call comes in whilst you’re running, voice controls and audio prompts let you manage your calls without having to touch your phone. The earbud will run up to three hours of calls and music when fully charged – more than enough for most workouts – plus up to six hours of additional charge from the compact carry-case.
Workout without wires
With 77 per cent of people preferring to train without wires, (to avoid the cable getting caught and pulling the earbuds out), and 69 per cent regularly listening to music as they workout, it’s no surprise the first offering in the Jabra Elite true-wireless franchise comes with sports credentials.
Jabra Elite Sport delivers the most comprehensive range of audio training tools to ensure you have the perfect training companion with you, whatever your fitness level or work-out regime preference. This includes an advanced personalised fitness analysis thanks to an in-ear heart rate monitor with 90%+ accuracy and an integrated app that offers automatic fitness testing (VO2 Max measurement), race-time predictor and recovery advisor. The Jabra Sport Life app delivers these updates via real-time in-ear coaching to ensure an uninterrupted workout.
The personalised VO2 Max data generated by Jabra Elite Sport, and captured by the app, allows you to track your fitness development over time. It uses intelligent in-ear coaching to provide real-time feedback based on your heart rate and fitness level. When you’ve finished your workout, the Jabra Sport Life app provides a range of information to help you improve your fitness level in the future, including distance covered, pace, route, calories burnt and training effect.
As a training partner, Jabra Elite Sport has the added assurance of a three year extended warranty against sweat, and being IP67 rated is tested to work for at least 30 minutes whilst submerged in up to one metre of water.
Medical grade credentials
Pioneers in sound, from sports earbuds to hearing aids, Jabra (as part of the GN Group) has used its unique understanding of high-quality sound in the development of Jabra Elite Sport. Created in collaboration with engineers from ReSound, a specialist in medical grade sound solutions and a world leader in Smart Hearing Aids, Jabra Elite Sport draws on more than 145 years of experience in hearing innovation and fit.
René Svendsen-Tune, CEO of Jabra said: “What truly excites me about our first true wireless earbuds is that they offer an experience that only Jabra can bring-to-life. We’ve used our R&D expertise from across the GN Group to deliver not just the most technically advanced true wireless sports earbuds, but actually the most complete cord-free experience for our customers. Jabra Elite Sport is an example of an intelligent sound solution that delivers calls and music very well, and does so much more besides.”

Bluetooth speakers are popular ,they come in all shapes and sizes and surely prices to match,we have tried quite a few here before and the latest one to drop in is called the XQISIT Bluetooth speaker XQ S20. This unit comes in several colours,Black,Silver and Gold and can be found online via the carphone warehouse..
Off the bat the packaging is nice and looks premium and when you take out the unit it also looks and feels premium with a nice presentation with speaker placed atop and the extras place beneath in a black box, Underneath the speaker is foam housing with the instruction manual tucked under it all..
Check out the image gallery below
Connecting the XQISIT to your mobile phone or tablet is simple and takes seconds, there was no delay in the pairing process which is good, some previous ones I tried had a slight delay, this was effortless, Should you wish to go the old route and go wired that option is also present and handy if you run out of juice on the speaker itself so you are covered here, there is that age old argument to contest which has the better sound being wired or wireless, the same applies to headphones, there is also a built in microphone which is excellent..
The build quality is excellent, It is solid all round flanked with a nice metallic finish and looks premium, the buttons too are also metal with a textured feel and very tactile given they are not much raised from the surface, they are almost like keys you would find on a mobile but as mentioned very tactile but not clicky, they work a treat in fact.
With outputs to suit everyone it comes with a 3.5mm inline socket and a cable is provided too and can be charged with USB and again there is cable provided which is good to see. The battery beneath is 2500mAh which should last you about 20hrs of continuous playback and charging the unit is typically around 5 hours for a full charge, this might seem long compared to a mobile phone of the same battery status..
Sound is excellent packed underneath is 2 x 3 watts of HD stereo sound which is immersive,I am no expert audiophile but use alot of products and I felt the sound was sharp, crisp and clear, the average consumer will be happy with its output due to the built in passive subwoofer… Its good a great bass sound to it..

Hands-free kit with integrated mic
6W HD stereo music with subwoofer

2500 mAh battery

Budget smartphones are aplenty these days but overall the cost even for high end phones is coming down to an extent, However new OEMs and chinee manufacturers are winning customers over taking a piece of the over saturated pie in the mobile space.
Medion have been resident at Aldi for some years now and they have a new model to check out called the Medion Life E5005 5 Inch smartphone.. These devices seem to be popular especially with Aldi shoppers and dont last long on the shelf..
Lest look at the specs and see what you get for its price tag of €99.99
Compact, powerful and modern, this LTE Medion Life Smartphone features a new-look Android™ 6.0 Marshmallow® operating system. It also has an impressive 5MP rear camera with autofocus, flash and digital zoom, along with a 2MP front camera.
We have gone through some amount of cases now for the Samsung S7 range and here is one more to look at from x-doria called the defense 360 case which comes in two pieces which does look nice on your expensive 7 Edge….
The back of the case has a frosted look to it whist giving it protection it just about covers you from all angles. The back of the case sites level with the camera hump which will give you some form of protection but the fact the hump is level with the case it is still prone to getting scratched depending on the surface, this is something to keep in mind.
All corners and edges are covered on the device which is nice giving way to easy access to the ports and keys, with the transparent front on the case you can see the natural colour of the device but this is a bit of a fingerprint magnet just like the phone itself….
Image gallery
Having tested the case for a few hours I did find at times having to tap icons more than once to work, I did find the top layer on the thick side which I would blame, Even standalone screen protectors for this device in particular can be are hard to come by,good ones that is due to the both sides of the device being curved.. That given you are protected but how much on a drop and hard impact is anyone’s guess, The front is a fingerprint magnet and the back is not,the back has a nice look and feel to it but overall it looks nice and offers a seamless fit surrounding the entire device and feels fine in the hand albeit a tad on the slippy side something the phone is already noted for..
To be fair the case is really to protect your device from getting scratched and yes this is what it will do but as far as for a drop I would not be sure what way the unfortunate mishap would turn out…
Want to have an event outdoors and wonder how many people would fit in the selected area??Yes we can guess or use suggested or use areas that are known or points of interest this new app aims to make event organisers visually get an idea of what an area can hold simply by drawing a perimeter on your device, sounds handy?? Not only is it used for just this purpose it can be used for property, construction and parks and so on. What is good here is this app can be used anywhere in the world, Sadly for now its just on iOS…
CrowdSize uses Apple Maps to produce an aerial view of any location in the world and operates in portrait mode. First type in the location of your event, or use the voice recognition feature on your keypad, and zoom into it’s exact location. Next tap the perimeter outline of the area you want to study, then use the slider to select a light, medium or dense factor for the number of people you see. Press Done and that’s it. The approximate number of people within your perimeter is presented. You can clear the calculation and the perimeter you just drew by shaking the device if you want to produce a new calculation.
Features
CrowdSize can do more than estimate crowds. It can also use it’s aerial images for estimating
areas in square feet or square meters. Prepare area estimates for bodies of water, parks or real
estate and multiply your area calculation by your own density factor to estimate numbers of
parking spaces or sod for the coverage of a homeowner’s yard. CrowdSize can also estimate
the area of roof tops, paving and landscaping for construction contractors and property
managers, and the calculations can be for any location in the world.
Need a job? Offer your services as a crowd size estimator to a political campaign or a news
organization. Attend an event, document the crowd you see with photographs and provide a
crowd size estimate with your hand held device and CrowdSize.
