Oclean X Pro Elite Sonic Toothbrush Review

The Oclean X Pro Elite Sonic Toothbrush is their latest on offer and comes in at an affordable price too in comparison to other well known brands on the market some time ago we checked out the X10 toothbrush and now it is time to go to their Pro Elite premium set this time around.

The package comes well presented and packed with everything you need including a carry bag, wireless charge a wall mount and of course extra brushes which is handy and you now have an app to help you along with your dental routine.

With the app can select tooth grade and programmes for your needs and the AI will even suggest plans for you based on your brushing and gives you a breakdown of your cleaning habits which is cool and I put to the test myself and shows in a 3D image where needs attention. It effectively gives you a health report on your brushing

As for a user experience with cleaning is it good you ask. Well yes we are habitual creatures and with a regular toothbrush it is boring with a smart one it seems longer than the time you assign, two minutes for example seems a lifetime but the thing is with the programmes you get it done as stay at it till the brush switches off which it does however there is no warning as to when the time is up like say a 10 second warning beep to let you know your hard work has been done. There is 4 different modes and 32 different intensities with a cool sounding maglev motor.

The grip on the toothbrush is quite nice with a sandstone feel to it so it wont slip out of hand and leaves no mess when finished and a simple rinse cleans it off.

There is a small touch sensitive display on the toothbrush which is hand to change modes and settings on the fly you can of course use the app for a more detailed look though for your personal needs.

Overall this toothbrush is quite good it is not as noisy as others here that I have and cost more and it coaches you into a better mouth hygiene regime pushing you to miss the places with a report each time it is used this is a great feature to have for me rather than be stuck in typical routine with a regular boring toothbrush this gives you insights encourages you to break old habits and of course leaves your teeth clean which feels and looks good and has a great battery life.

  • Smart Screen-Brushing Result Instant Display

Nikon announces the all-new Z5II, a powerhouse FX camera

Today, Nikon announces the all-new Z5II, a powerhouse FX camera for enthusiasts and a major leap forward for the Z5 line. An exciting all-rounder, the Z5II is a compact full-frame model packed with features inherited from professional Z series cameras. Users can let their creativity flourish with fast intelligent focusing, superb low-light capabilities, a bright electronic viewfinder, 4K UHD video, extensive control over colour, and refined ergonomics for more intuitive handling.

Bolstered by Nikon’s most powerful image-processing engine, the Z5II full-frame camera opens incredible possibilities for handheld shooting. An ultra-high ISO range, multi-subject detection with 3D tracking, and AF sensitivity down to -10 EV combine to deliver perfectly focused full-frame shots—even after dark. In addition, Nikon’s proprietary Focus Point VR can reduce image blur around the active focus point with up to 7.5 stops of Vibration Reduction image stabilisation in the centre of the frame, and up to 6.0 stops at the periphery.2,3

The compact Z5II is beautifully designed for confident full-frame shooting with a fully articulating vari-angle touchscreen and a 3000 cd/m high-luminance EVF that makes it much easier to compose in bright conditions. Creative controls for photos and video include a one-touch Picture Control button for previewing and switching between inspiring colour profiles in real time. Movie makers can record 4K N-RAW video straight to the camera’s SD memory card and users who want to colour grade, or unlock filmic looks with RED LUTs, can shoot footage in N-log, which allows more flexibility in post.

Nikon ergonomics ensure handling is instantly familiar to Nikon users, and Z5 upgraders benefit from a deeper grip and a more intuitive button layout. The compact Z5II full-frame camera also makes space for two SD card slots and boasts dust- and drip-resistance on a par with the acclaimed Z6III.

Zurab Kiknadze, Product Manager, Nikon Europe says: “The Z5II jumps way ahead by packing some of the best technology from our pro-level cameras into a tough yet compact package. If you’re ready to begin your full-frame creative journey, this is the thrilling and affordable full-frame upgrade you’ve been waiting for.”

Summary of key features: Z5II

24.5 MP FX IBIS sensor: full-frame sensor with up to 7.5-stop Vibration Reduction in-body image stabilisation at the centre of the frame and 6.0 stops at the periphery. Focus Point VR prioritises stabilisation around the active focus point .2,3

Higher, cleaner ISO: maximum ISO sensitivity of 64000 for stills, and 51200 for video. Sophisticated noise reduction skilfully achieves cleaner low-light shots with rich saturation and plenty of detail.

Faster, sharper, smarter AF: the autofocus system is 68 % faster than the Z5 and sensitive down to -10 EV for powerful performance after dark. 1 Intelligent multi-subject detection and 3D tracking brings even greater accuracy.

High-luminance EVF: bright high-resolution viewfinder with max brightness of 3000 nits and 13 levels of brightness control.

Large, high-resolution vari-angle touchscreen: 170-degree viewing angle. The image, info displays, and menus auto rotate with the screen for smooth operation.

Cinematic video: get maximum detail with 4K/30p or go up to 4k/60p (cropped). Shoot N-RAW footage straight to the camera’s SD memory card and record in N-log to get more flexibility for colour grading.

One-touch Picture Control button: preview and apply inspiring colour profiles for photos and video in real time. Users can create and save their own Picture Control colour presets using Nikon NX Studio.

Camera-to-cloud connectivity with Nikon Imaging Cloud: automate photo storage and download image recipes from Nikon and creators directly to the Z5II.

Advanced AF-A mode: spots even the subtlest movement to go from AF-S (for still subjects) to AF-C (for moving subjects) as needed.

Up to 30 fps with Pre-Release Capture: nail peak action shots, even if they happen before the shutter is released.4

Better sound: equipped with a 3.5 mm socket for an external stereo mic, and a headphone socket.

Improved ergonomics: deeper grip for more stability, intuitive button layout, and two SD (UHS-II) card slots. Compatible with the MB-N14 power battery for vertical shooting, or to extend shooting time versus the Z5II battery alone.

Weather-proof build: lightweight (approx. 700 g, body only) magnesium-alloy body with dust- and drip-resistance on a par with the acclaimed Z6III.

What is Wi-Fi Calling and why should you have it switched on

Vodafone Ireland is encouraging Irish users to unlock the full potential of their mobile phones by enabling the hidden Wi-Fi Calling feature to improve their phone network experience. Available on most Apple and Android devices, Wi-Fi Calling, also known as VoWi-Fi, allows users to make and receive calls in any location where you are connected to a Wi-Fi network, even if there is no regular phone signal or poor indoor coverage.

This easy-to-use feature allows calls to be made using Wi-Fi, ensuring seamless communication, even in areas with challenging signal conditions. While mobile networks technology is continually advancing and improving for the better, network coverage may occasionally be influenced by structural, natural, and geographical factors. Consequently, mobile users may experience varying levels of cellular network as they go about their daily activities, especially in areas with unique signal conditions. By enabling VoWi-Fi, users can experience consistent call quality and connectivity, regardless of their location.
Fiona Sheridan, Head of Network Deployment for Vodafone Ireland said:

“Vodafone has been consistently recognised as the best mobile network in Ireland by independent awards such as nPerf and Umlaut. Even so, we want to enhance our customers network experience even more. By activating the Wi-Fi Calling feature, users can fully utilise their mobile phones, ensuring uninterrupted communication even in areas with weak signal coverage. This feature leverages Wi-Fi to make calls, offering consistent call quality and connectivity, without any additional costs.

We encourage all our customers to enable VoWi-Fi and enjoy the benefits of seamless communication, no matter where they are.”

Wi-Fi Calling

Providing seamless call quality, VoWi-Fi offers connection without fuss, and all from places that regular phone signal cannot reach – no separate app needed.

At no extra cost or hidden charges, Vodafone VoWi-Fi calling is charged at the same rate as making a call over the cellular network.

Users can enable VoWi-Fi Calling on their iOS and Android mobile device by enabling the feature in ‘Settings’ and switching the toggle ‘Wi-Fi Calling’ to the ‘On’ position, then click ‘OK’ to confirm.

Three steps to set up Wi-Fi Calling on iOS/Apple:

  1. From your start screen – select Settings then Mobile Service
  2. Select Wi-Fi Calling
  3. Toggle Wi-Fi Calling to the on position, then click Enable to confirm

  2. Tap the menu on the top-right then select Settings
  1. Toggle Wi-Fi Calling to the on position then click OK to confirm

4G Calling

Want even more connectivity? Experience seamless, high-quality calls with 4G Calling, also known as VoLTE. This feature is also available to Vodafone customers with compatible devices, allowing seamless, high-quality calls to take place via mobile wherever the user has access the 4G network.

Like with Wi-Fi Calling, 4G Calling has no effect on the user’s data streaming, enabling users to carry on multi-tasking – watch videos, use apps, or do anything that uses data – all while enjoying consistent call quality.

To learn more or to check if your phone supports 4G and Wi-Fi Calling, please visit your local Vodafone store or visit Vodafone WiFi Calling.

Biotech firm with obesity ambitions: We aim for an agreement within a few years

The Danish-founded biotech company Pila Pharma looks to secure a partnership or acquisition within the next few years. The short-term goal is to advance the development of a promising new drug candidate for the treatment of obesity and diabetes.

Pila Pharma, listed on the Nasdaq First North stock exchange in Stockholm, has set a clear strategy for the future: Within a few years, the company aims to be acquired by or partner with an industry player capable of furthering and realizing its research in obesity and other metabolic diseases using TRPV1 inhibitors. The goal is to ensure that Pila Pharma’s potential new weight-loss pill reaches the market as quickly as possible.

– We have a promising drug candidate with a completely different side effect profile compared to other treatments currently in development or on the market. Our ambition is to progress the candidate over the next few years and then hand it over to a larger player who can take it to the next level. The global market is in dire need of effective obesity treatments, particularly scalable pill-based solutions, and we believe we could have a role to play in this development, says CEO Gustav H. Gram, adding:

– Since our founders’ discovery in 1999 and the company’s founding in 2014, we have made significant progress and gathered data that suggests we are on the right track. The next major step is to establish proof of concept for weight loss. We are the only company working with this specific type of molecule—TRPV1 inhibitors—as a novel therapeutic approach to treating obesity and other metabolic diseases. If we succeed, I firmly believe we will emerge as a strong and attractive candidate for partnership or acquisition.

A Scalable Pill Solution with a Different Side Effect Profile

Pila Pharma was founded by former Novo Nordisk researcher Dorte X. Gram, who was the first researcher to identify the molecule that later became semaglutide—the active ingredient in Novo Nordisk’s blockbuster drugs Ozempic and Wegovy.

During her tenure at Novo Nordisk, she also discovered— blocking the TRPV1 receptor— could be a potential new mechanism for treating metabolic diseases. With the rise of GLP-1 treatments, Pila Pharma is entering a highly competitive market where unique advantages will determine success.

– In our research and development efforts, we are focused on generating clinical data on the safety and efficacy of XEN-D0501 for treating obesity and related conditions such as diabetes. Patients, physicians, and the industry are all seeking effective weight-loss treatments without common side effects such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. If we can achieve this with an oral solution that can be scaled to meet market demand, we envision a future where more patients have better access to sustainable weight management options, says Dorte X. Gram. She elaborates:

– Approximately one-third of patients worldwide who use GLP-1 medications for severe obesity—such as Wegovy—discontinue treatment prematurely due to side effects, cost, and availability issues. If we can offer a scalable pill alternative based on small molecules, it will significantly improve accessibility and help patients adhere to their treatment plans.

A Major Opportunity for Pill-Based Obesity Treatments

Professor Jens Juul Holst from the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen was among the first to discover the GLP-1 hormone in 1986, which plays a key role in stimulating insulin secretion from the pancreas. Today, GLP-1 receptor agonists are used to treat type 2 diabetes and severe obesity.

He sees significant potential for pill-based obesity treatments in certain markets.

– In some parts of the world, injection-based treatments pose a challenge, making a pill a far more attractive option. This is particularly true in Asian and African markets, where needle phobia is widespread, creating an enormous market opportunity. This factor is highly relevant to pharmaceutical companies, many of which avoid investing in injectable drugs due to economic considerations, says Jens Juul Holst.

He also predicts that pricing will play a decisive role in the future:

– With several new drugs on the horizon, if they deliver on their promises, small-molecule pills are poised to become a major success. One key reason is that they can be sold at a significantly lower price point compared to biologic drugs, which require more complex manufacturing, says Jens Juul Holst.

The core asset of Pila Pharma is its TRPV1 inhibitor, XEN-D0501 – an orally administered tablet currently in Phase 2 clinical development. At the end of 2024, the company announced its engagement with regulatory authorities to define the optimal approach for its next clinical trial in obesity and diabetes.

Kingston IronKey Locker+ 50 USB Flash Drive Review

The Kingston IronKey Locker+ 50 USB Flash Drive comes in several storage options to suit one’s personal needs these range from 32GB to 256GB which is what we have here today.

Flash drives are ten a penny these days but security is vital today with what we store and now with GDPR laws encryption is vital in any business and indeed personal use.

We have review many brands in the past like iStorage for example who seem to have vanished since we seen them last but Kingston offer similar products here too and again many other brands we have covered in this category of tech.

This USB Flash drive is built well with a nice finish that stands out and also has an LED light on board to show when it is in use. The build quality alone sets it apart from plastic housed devices out there and also you can attach to your keyring if required.

The set up is relatively simple here and a much simpler process than others there is a complex or passphrase mode here also an admin mode for others to access which is not the case for us here it is just me that will use it. You can see how this works in the video review below it is simple to be honest and not a complex process. You can also hide your password whilst typing which is hand for several obvious security reasons.

The LP50 comes with the latest AES hardware encryption and XTS mode and stops brute force attacks.

You can also back up direct to cloud with a pop up every time you use it  if not chosen from the start this is handy to have and supports several platforms such as box and google drive which would suit many again you can see this in the video review below.

Performance is fine here for a USB key with no issues swapping files across and back in no time and works well on all laptops I have here during testing overall a simple handy effective gadget to have to keep your data safe where it should be.

Features
  • XTS-AES Encryption with Brute Force and BadUSB Attack Protection
  • Multi-Password (Admin and User) Option with Complex/Passphrase modes
  • New Passphrase Mode
  • Automatic Personal Cloud Backup
  • Additional Security Features
  • 256GB

Irish Firms Embrace Responsible AI: Adoption of Guidelines Doubles in 12 Months

In the last 12 months, there has been a notable jump in the number of financial services firms in Ireland implementing guidelines to ensure the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). New research reveals that twice as many compliance experts as last year now report that their firm has adopted such measures.

This is according to the results of a new survey by Ireland’s professional body for compliance professionals, the Compliance Institute, which polled 144 compliance experts working primarily in Irish financial services organisations nationwide.

The survey, which examined trends around AI, found that this year, 16pc of compliance professionals said that an AI governance framework (an infrastructure with clear guidelines and standards to ensure that AI technologies are used responsibly) was in place in their organisation – up from 7pc in 2024

However, the Compliance Institute survey also found that there has been a fall in the take-up of AI tools in the financial services sector over the last year, with the number of compliance professionals saying their organisation is actively trialling and/ or using AI tools falling from almost four in ten (37pc) in 2024 to just over one in four (26pc) in 2025. This suggests a more cautious approach towards the use of AI within organisations.

Commenting on the survey findings, Michael Kavanagh, CEO of the Compliance Institute said:

“AI is a rapidly evolving technology that has advanced at a pace few anticipated. While there are many benefits, including its ability to detect illnesses and diseases as well as weather patterns and extreme storms, its fast-growing capabilities and increasingly widespread use have raised concerns – such as privacy and misinformation issues, the potential of the technology to lead to job displacement, or even the risk of AI-altered images and videos disrupting the democratic process. While many believe AI should be embraced for the benefits it delivers, it is important too that AI is used in a safe and transparent way, and that the use and adoption of the technology is overseen so that harmful outcomes are prevented.

The increase in the number of financial services firms that have put guidelines in place to ensure AI is used responsibly in their organisation shows that there is a strong awareness in the sector of the risks of AI and a determination to ensure the technology is used responsibly.”

Groundbreaking Legislation

The Compliance Institute survey also found that three times as many compliance experts as last year are aware of the groundbreaking piece of legislation that aims to tackle the risks of AI and ensure AI is used safely and transparently – the EU Artificial Intelligence Act.

Almost one in four (23pc) compliance professionals are familiar with the legislation today compared to only 7pc in 2024. However overall, awareness of the rules is still low with just over two-thirds (67pc) of compliance experts having either limited or no knowledge of the new legislation. The poll found there has been a substantial decrease in the number of experts with limited knowledge of the new rules – down from 58pc in 2024 to 29pc in 2023. However, almost three in ten (28pc) said they were not familiar with the legislation.

Mr Kavanagh added:

“It is important that there is strong regulation of AI and this is why the new EU AI Act is so important. This regulation should ensure that AI systems are designed, developed and deployed in an ethical and trustworthy manner and that the fundamental rights, health and safety of the individual are protected while promoting responsible innovation.

While our survey shows there’s been a notable increase in familiarity with the AI Act over the last year, it is worrying that only one in four (23pc) are familiar with the legislation and that almost three in ten are not. The reasons for this lack of familiarity could simply because many compliance experts work in smaller organisations or in a specialist area that doesn’t deal with AI.  All the same, given that the AI Act entered into force on August 1, 2024 and will for the most part be fully applicable across the EU on August 2, 2026, it is important that all compliance experts get up to speed with these new rules. Non-compliance with the Act’s provisions could result in hefty fines ranging from €7.5m to €35m depending on the severity of the infringement and the company’s size.”

Other headline findings to emerge from the Compliance Institute survey include:

  • Almost seven in ten (67pc) compliance professionals say their organisation is not adopting AI tech “so far” – an increase on the 60pc who said this was the case when a similar survey was conducted in 2024.
  • While numbers were small, more than twice as many compliance professionals as last year believe that their organisation will not be using AI tools in the near future (7pc versus 3pc).
  • The percentage of organisations actively developing AI frameworks has fallen from 24pc in 2024 to 17pc in 2025.
  • The number of organisations planning to develop AI frameworks remains stable (40pc in 2025 versus 39pc in 2024).
  • The percentage of organisations that have no plans to implement AI governance frameworks has largely remained the same over the last year (27pc in 2025 versus 30pc in 2024).

Mr Kavanagh concluded:

The findings of our survey reflect a growing awareness and action on the governance of AI across the financial services sector, though progress is still in its early stages for many organisations.”
