Legal and Ethical Considerations in People Search: Addressing the Legal Boundaries and Ethical Implications of Using People Search Sites

Hey there, curious minds! In this digital age, people search sites have become powerful tools for finding information about individuals.

Whether you’re reconnecting with old friends or conducting background checks, these sites offer a wealth of data at your fingertips.

However, with great power comes great responsibility. In this article, we’ll explore the legal and ethical considerations that come with using people search sites, ensuring you navigate this digital landscape with both confidence and respect.

Legal Boundaries and Data Protection

Howdy, law-abiding readers! When it comes to people search, treading within legal boundaries is paramount. Like a digital sheriff, each country has its own laws and regulations governing data protection and privacy.

Before you embark on your people search journey, take a moment to familiarize yourself with the relevant laws in your region. Ensure that you have proper authorization to access and use the data retrieved from people search sites. Like a responsible cowboy, complying with the law will safeguard you from legal troubles and uphold the rights of individuals to privacy and data protection.

Ethical Use of People Search Sites

Hey there, ethical explorers! While people search sites offer a treasure trove of information, using this data responsibly is crucial. Like a wise guide, always consider the ethical implications of your actions when using the data you find.

Avoid using people search sites to invade someone’s privacy, harass individuals, or engage in any harmful activities. Instead, focus on legitimate and respectful purposes, such as reconnecting with old acquaintances or conducting background checks for legitimate reasons like hiring or tenant screening.

Remember, each piece of information on people search sites represents a real person, and using it responsibly is like treating others how you’d want to be treated yourself.

Ensuring Accuracy and Verifying Information

Howdy, discerning researchers! People search sites can be like a gold mine, but it’s essential to verify the accuracy of the information you find. Like a skilled prospector, cross-referencing data from multiple sources can help ensure its authenticity.

People search sites may contain outdated or incorrect information, and relying solely on this data could lead to mistaken conclusions or actions. Like a cautious cowboy, verify the details you find through other reliable sources before making any significant decisions based on the information retrieved.

Transparency and User Consent

Hey there, informed users! When it comes to people search sites, transparency and user consent are like guiding stars in the night sky. Like a reliable compass, people search platforms should be clear and open about how they collect, store, and use personal data.

Before using a people search site, take the time to review their privacy policy and terms of service. Like an informed navigator, understanding how your data will be handled will empower you to make an educated decision about using the service.

Additionally, reputable people search sites will seek your consent before accessing and displaying personal information, respecting your right to control the data shared.

Protecting Sensitive Information

Howdy, privacy protectors! People search sites can be like open books, revealing a wealth of information. However, some details are like treasured secrets, meant to be kept safe and secure.

When using people search sites, be cautious about sharing sensitive information like social security numbers, financial data, or medical history. Like a safe with a combination lock, protect these details from falling into the wrong hands. Reputable people search platforms will also prioritize data security, employing encryption and other measures to keep sensitive information safe from prying eyes.

Combating Misuse and Online Harassment

Hey there, digital defenders! People search sites can be like double-edged swords, offering valuable insights while also potentially fueling misuse and online harassment. It’s essential to be mindful of how you and others use the information obtained through these platforms.

Avoid using people search sites to engage in cyberstalking, bullying, or any harmful activities. Instead, be like a virtual superhero, using your knowledge and insights for positive purposes.

If you encounter any instances of online harassment or misuse, report them to the platform’s administrators or relevant authorities. By being vigilant, you can contribute to a safer and more respectful digital environment.

Conclusion

Howdy, responsible navigators of people search sites! We’ve explored essential considerations, including transparency and user consent, protecting sensitive information, and combating misuse and online harassment.

As you journey through the digital landscape of people search, be mindful of these principles. Transparency and user consent will empower you to make informed decisions, while safeguarding sensitive information will ensure your data remains secure.

By using people search sites responsibly, you can contribute to a respectful and positive online community, and here you can find more information if you are curious.

Happy searching, and may your adventures in people search be guided by integrity and respect!

Ørsted secures solar and wind renewable energy contracts under Irish RESS 3 auction

Ørsted has secured two contracts in the Irish Government’s third onshore Renewable Electricity Support Scheme (RESS 3) auction. The approved Ørsted projects were the 81 MW Garreenleen Solar Farm in Carlow, and the 43.2 MW Farranrory Onshore Wind Farm in Tipperary.

Commenting on the provisional results of the RESS 3 auction, KieranWhite, Senior Vice President of Onshore in Region Europe at Ørsted, said: “With a combined output of 124 MW, these projects will assist in driving down the cost of electricity compared to fossil fuel generation and contribute to Ireland’s overall energy independence while meeting our value creation targets. We expect to deliver the projects before 2030 within the RESS 3 timelines.”

A total of 24 onshore wind and solar projects, including Ørsted’s two projects, cleared in the RESS 3 auction at an average strike price of EUR 100.47 per MWh.

Ørsted’s Irish headquarters are based in Cork City, where it employs over 100 people. Ørsted currently operates 378 MW of onshore wind across the island of Ireland, producing enough power for over 230,000 homes. Ørsted recently announced a partnership with ESB to jointly develop an Irish offshore wind portfolio and a partnership with Terra Solar to develop 400MW of solar energy.

Ranked as one of the world’s most sustainable energy companies, Ørsted has over 5.7 GW of onshore renewables in operation, under construction or consented across the United States and Europe.

Dublin and Sligo students release ‘smart’ pebbles to track climate change impacts

Primary and second-level students are this week placing 300 specially adapted RFID-enabled pebbles at Killiney Beach (Dublin) and Raghly Beach (Sligo) in a project to track coastal erosion. The innovative project aims to strengthen coastal communities’ ability to deal with the impacts of climate change using digital technologies.

Led by Dr Chiara Cocco and Dr Francesco Pilla, researchers with Lero, the Science Foundation Ireland Research Centre for Software, at University College Dublin and Dr Iulia Anton, a researcher at Atlantic Technological University Sligo, the ‘smart’ pebbles initiative is part of the €10 million European-wide project SCORE (score-eu-project.eu) funded by the European Commission.

“This project is really exciting because we are collaborating with people of all ages – primary school students, transition year students and a local Tidy Towns group – and using innovative technologies to examine the impacts of climate change on their coastal communities. The students will play a key role in releasing and monitoring 300 specially adapted Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) enabled pebbles over the coming months. Each ‘smart’ pebble, painted yellow and typically about 10cm in size, has a RFID transponder cemented into drilled holes, enabling us to trace the impacts of erosion and their movements over the coming months,” explained Dr Cocco, Assistant Professor at UCD.

Dr Anton, the project manager of the SCORE project, said: Each pebble will be 3D scanned by the ‘search and rescue’ students, enabling the tracking of abrasions and markings. Then, we will be able to track the pebble’s movements using RFID readers and GPS locators. These citizen science results will be analysed in the lab utilising algorithms to determine climate change impacts on coastal erosion on the beach.”

“We are thrilled to start this exciting initiative at Killiney and Raghly Beaches. Our collaboration with local schools, led by dedicated students, is pivotal in this activity. Their role in releasing and monitoring these pebbles, equipped with state-of-the-art technology, will provide invaluable insights into erosion patterns and movements. This citizen science initiative not only fosters environmental stewardship but also empowers the younger generation to engage in climate resilience efforts actively,” Dr Anton added.

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and Sligo County Council are also part of this initiative, one of the winning projects of the Accelerator Programme promoted by the EU-funded IMPETUS project (impetus4cs.eu). Dalkey Tidy Towns is involved in the Killiney project in Dublin with Monkstown CBS, Rathdown School and Holy Child. In Sligo, Grange Post Primary School is actively participating in the Raghly Beach project.

Dr Cocco said it is important to raise citizen awareness about climate risks in coastal urban areas.

“The project aims to actively involve younger people and empower them to become active participants in scientific activities related to climate risks,” she concluded.

Review – Hazel Quinn Slow Juicer

Having manzy gizmos today in your kitchen is not uncommon and for me a juicer was one thing I have had and went through a few of them in my time, now I am no juicer expert either so let me get that clear from the offset however like I said I have had a few and this one has been the simplest one I have tried and giving the best results with no lumps at the end of my glass which is disgusting in my opinion, not only that it takes the labour out of doing the work which with technology today has made people terrible lazy but this Slow juicer is a gift to use it is simple to set up simple to clean and looks great especially in this mint green colour.

It will take you literally 5 mins to get going after you read the manual so you know where you are at and after that if you are into juices you will get better lump free ones with this one and might be a better taste to them too. It is no a huge juicer either and will fit in any kitchen and requires a plug nearby, you get all you need in the box as you will see in the full video review below and you are good to go how much more simpler do you want it.

The design is nice and the unit feels robust and solid and after using it for a few weeks it has not caused any issues, I would suggest peeling skins of your Apples and Oranges though and what we have here in my house is Apple and Orange juice and sometimes carrot juice. You will see how simple it is to use via the manual and it is a very short process from putting the desired fruit into the hopper and watch the magic happen.

Check the video below for more and see what to expect and this is not expensive either.

PayPal survey reveals the second-hand economy is booming with 47% of people selling their preloved goods and average earning approximately €598

As the cost-of-living continues to climb, the second-hand economy is experiencing a surge. PayPal’s Resale Renaissance report*, conducted by Censuswide and involving more than 1,000 consumers across Ireland, revealed the reselling movement has gone mainstream.

An interesting trend, the report found that people are selling their unwanted or unused items to supplement their income. In fact, almost one in eight (12%) of those who buy preowned items do so in order to upcycle and sell on. This trend was found to be most prevalent among Gen Z (18%) and most prominent among respondents from Mayo (24%), Kerry (23%) and Clare (20%). It also seems that this could generate quite the profit with the average consumer in Ireland estimating they have approximately €222 worth of unwanted items gathering dust around the home.

Some 47 per cent of people across the country resell their preloved goods, with money earned from reselling unwanted items over past 12 months estimated, on average, to be approximately €598 – potentially providing people with an extra €50 per month. Gen Z led the way with earnings from reselling items over the last year, coming in at €844.

One person’s trash is another’s treasure

Delving deeper into the preowned trends, of those who have bought such items before, the average spend over the past year was found to be €101. Clothes (46%), books (23%) and furniture (22%) top thrift shopping lists – turning one person’s trash into their own treasure.

In terms of what is driving Irish second-hand shoppers, saving money is the leading reason for more than half (59%), followed by the drive to find a real bargain (41%). For others, it’s a conscious choice with a third (33%) choosing second-hand to be more sustainable and a similar proportion (31%) doing so to reduce waste.

More than three quarters of Irish people (78%) purchase preloved items and the average consumer makes such purchases 20 times a year. Gen Z are most active in this area (average of 26 times a year), followed by Millennials (21 times a year). Buying preowned items was most common among respondents from Longford (66 times a year), Roscommon (61 times a year) and Donegal (46 times a year).

The study noted that, on average, consumers estimated they have €401 of disposable income each month. People in Ireland are finding ways and adapting their behaviours to make their disposable income go that bit further. In this regard, some 61 per cent of consumers look for discounts and deals, while more than half (54%) have switched to cheaper brands and 52 per cent  are using store loyalty points/coupons more often.

Thrifty consumers are exercising caution

The PayPal study found that the preferred channels for purchasing preowned items were charity/thrift shops (51%), online and mobile marketplaces (35%), and social media (32%). However, while demand for preloved treasures is high, the second-hand economy isn’t without its concerns, with more than four in five (84%) people worrying about dishonest sellers and the quality of preowned items.

As a result, people are mindful when it comes to the checkout process and it turns out that the biggest factor that instills trust in preowned purchasers is having safe, recognised payment methods like PayPal (55%). Other important trust factors were found to be comments/reviews about the seller (54%) and more images and visuals of items (43%).

Maeve Dorman, Senior Vice President, PayPal Ireland shared: “With prices soaring, it’s no surprise we’re seeing a boom in the second-hand economy. Whether it’s shopping or selling on online marketplaces or resale mobile apps, or using the Goods and Services person-to-person payments on our mobile app at car boot sales, you can enjoy peace of mind knowing PayPal works hard to keep your financial information safe. Both buyers and sellers want – and should have – security, flexibility and confidence when it comes to managing transactions, making payments and taking control of their own budgets.”

Why Multi-Camera Conferencing Represents The Next Generation Of Video Meetings

In an age of video bars and webcams more and more organisations are adding a dynamic new dimension to their remote meetings, by taking a multi-camera approach.

That’s the experience of hardware manufacturer, Boom Collaboration, which has seen growth in ‘live events’ and more intuitive conference calls, rise by over a third so far this year.

The Texas-based company is witnessing a significant acceleration in demand for multi-camera conferencing which it views as an exciting new era for larger remote gatherings, transforming standard meetings into more engaging and powerful customer experiences.

International appeal

Founders Fredrik Hörnkvist and Holli Hulett believe new technology is helping blur the lines between traditional video calls and once complex AV production broadcasting.

Church ceremonies, court rooms, auction houses and healthcare training are some of the most popular sectors so far – as deployments continue to diversify. Industry trade shows are attracting remote visitors where panel debates and live presentations are all benefitting from a multi-angle approach.

Equally larger traditional conference rooms are adding additional cameras for a more intuitive life-like experience – according to the company which has seen a 35% surge in multi-camera sales so far in 2023.

“There’s no doubt we are seeing major growth in live events and remote communication on an international scale across a growing number of sectors,” says Hörnkvist.

“Many of today’s popular software-based meeting apps have the option to share multiple cameras and it’s clear this type of technology adds a new edge to traditional meetings, presentations and live shows.

“Healthcare training for example, is an area where lots of students can witness heart surgery remotely, rather than all being crammed into an operating theatre which wouldn’t be viable. They can view and learn clearly from various camera angles, from anywhere in the world.”

He continued: “Equally there are many conferences, trade shows and industry events that can sell more tickets by having a remote element too. There’s one price to attend in-person plus an online pass option.”

Multi-dimensional meetings

Hörnkvist highlighted: “There are many things to consider when planning a remote gathering. The first is identifying a suitable location with good lighting and audio dynamics. Next is considering camera angles and decor plus how many actual cameras will be used. Technical knowledge is crucial too. Who is going to act as a producer and switch between cameras? How is content going to be shared? Do you need outside expertise? Also, how long will the event last is another factor. You don’t want people becoming bored and losing interest. Interaction is crucial.”

He feels advances in technology open the door to easier management of multi-dimensional meetings – creating more opportunities to enhance the overall customer experience.

“It’s often been a complex and technical process in the past. But advances in technology are inspiring greater user confidence and expertise,” he notes.

“Power and electricity supply capacity can be a challenge. We often recommend using cameras that have a PoE capability. This makes it easier to deploy devices on the same network and improve room aesthetics, without unsightly cables everywhere.”

He says overall appeal will be further enhanced by new solutions such as Boom’s GOJO camera controller, which can manage over 250 devices, if required.

New era

For Hulett the use of high performance 4K PTZ cameras and expandable audio is essential; insisting ‘quality counts’.

She explained: “High quality PoE cameras, expandable audio and easy to use camera controllers/mixing desks are some of the key ingredients for a successful remote experience. Don’t overlook the importance of audio compared to video. If people can’t be heard clearly, then the show is over.”

Hulett began the business with co-founder Fredrik Hörnkvist in 2020, with Boom now embarking on a global expansion drive including the UK and Europe.

She advises: “To overcome some of the fundamental room challenges we always suggest putting the main camera at eye level on the same wall as the display so that it’s natural and easy to engage directly with people.

“We feel something like a 360 degree camera is actually counter intuitive to the way we communicate as it doesn’t promote natural eye contact and reading of body language cues. Also because more people are using video calls now they are more aware of their physical appearance while on screen. This further enforces the need for high calibre cameras that make the most of a variety of meeting conditions.’

Hulett concluded: It’s about creating a space that goes beyond the traditional video conference room by facing cameras in multiple directions, for more fluid and engaging experiences. We expect these trends to continue to expand and diversify, as a new era and the next chapter in video conferencing begins to unfold.”

The Impact of Marketing Automation on Customer Advocacy for SaaS

In today’s era, SaaS (Software as a Service) companies heavily rely on customer advocacy to drive growth and achieve success. Customer advocacy refers to customers promoting and supporting a brand or product because they genuinely appreciate and are enthusiastic about their experience. These happy customers willingly share their experiences with others, resulting in increased brand recognition, customer acquisition, and business expansion.

Marketing automation plays a role in nurturing and enhancing customer advocacy for SaaS companies. By automating marketing processes, companies like Iterable company can streamline customer communication, personalize interactions, and gather insights to build strong relationships.

Now, let’s explore the impact of marketing automation on customer advocacy for SaaS.

  1. Tailored Customer Communication

One significant benefit of marketing automation for SaaS companies is the ability to deliver relevant communication to their customers. Through tools like email automation and dynamic content, SaaS companies can customize their messages based on each customer’s interests, preferences, and behavior.

Personalized communication helps strengthen the bond between SaaS companies and their customers. SaaS companies can effectively deliver personalized content, such as product updates, new feature releases, and exclusive offers, to keep customers engaged and well-informed. This personalized approach enhances the customer experience and cultivates a sense of loyalty and advocacy.

  1. Streamlining SaaS Customer Onboarding with Automated Workflows

Customer onboarding plays a role in the customer journey for SaaS companies. It involves guiding customers through the setup and training to ensure they can quickly and efficiently start using the software.

By leveraging marketing automation, SaaS companies can create automated onboarding workflows that offer users resources and guidance at each stage of the onboarding process. Automating this process guarantees a personalized experience for every customer.

A practical onboarding experience not only helps customers grasp the value of the software but also sets the foundation for an overall customer experience. When customers feel supported and witness benefits from using the software, they are likelier to become advocates who share their experiences with others.

  1. Lead Nurturing through Marketing Automation

Intelligent lead nurturing is a strategy for SaaS companies to convert prospects into paying customers. Through marketing automation, these companies can nurture leads by implementing automated workflows that deliver targeted and relevant content based on interests and behaviors.

Marketing automation plays a role for SaaS companies as it enables them to monitor and analyze how potential customers engage with their marketing campaigns. This valuable data allows them to gauge a lead’s level of interest and intention, empowering them to deliver content. By providing information, SaaS companies can establish trust and credibility, ultimately increasing the chances of conversion and fostering brand advocacy.

  1. Proactive Customer Support

Customer support is vital in cultivating customer advocacy. When customers receive practical assistance, their overall experience becomes more positive, leading them to advocate for the brand.

Marketing automation can create automated support workflows that offer customer support. For instance, SaaS companies can configure automated emails that follow up with customers after submitting a support ticket, ensuring their concerns are promptly addressed. Moreover, marketing automation can facilitate sending personalized content to educate customers on maximizing the software’s potential, thereby reducing the need for assistance.

By providing customer support, SaaS companies enhance customer satisfaction and cultivate advocates who are more inclined to recommend the software to others.

  1. Collecting Customer Feedback

Customer feedback holds value for SaaS companies as it aids in understanding customer needs, preferences, and pain points.

Marketing automation enables SaaS companies to collect feedback effortlessly using automated surveys, feedback forms, and social media monitoring.

Using marketing automation, SaaS companies can send tailored surveys to customer segments, ensuring they receive feedback. This valuable input can then be carefully analyzed to pinpoint areas for improvement, optimize product features, and enhance the customer experience.

Furthermore, marketing automation empowers SaaS companies to keep track of social media mentions and conversations related to their brand. By listening to what customers are expressing, SaaS companies can address concerns promptly, resolve issues effectively, and engage with their customers in a way that fosters loyalty.

In summary, marketing automation plays a role in cultivating customer advocacy within SaaS companies. Through communication with customers, improved onboarding processes lead nurturing initiatives, proactive customer support efforts, and valuable feedback-gathering mechanisms—they can establish a foundation of loyal advocates. Leveraging marketing automation enhances the customer experience and stimulates business growth by attracting new customers through positive word-of-mouth referrals.
