Tech Review – PSB M4U 8 MKII Headphones in Espresso Brown

Way back in 2018 and longer than I had thought in the unboxing video which I said three years ago, we checked out the PSB Speakers M4U-8 headphones and to me they were something else back then in 2018 and yeah my review was short but were  only starting out back then after covering Nokia only tech for years and have turned up the game since, Yes 2018 and a pair of headphones I miss, To this day certain brands are applauded every year and is now getting boring and after testing or trying most of these myself.

OK they look the same which is no harm and if something aint broke dont fix it is what they say the cans are comfortable to wear for hours on end even for gaming and movies which is what I have done here whilst reviewing, the headband and cups are super soft and comfortable as before only this time in a new colour which is Espresso Brown and I love it, it is not to often you seen brown headphones.

The controls are all on one side and again I like this it is my personal preference and the size of the controls again something I like which makes it super easy to execute commands every time and again all features are present with call control voice assistant skip and reverse tracks and volume up and down and of course play and pause is all preset and again demonstrated in the video review below.

The App

The app is excellent with two parts to it you could say and you need to once again complete a hearing test which is common these days and it is for your benefit in the end and my god the audio on these is as before superb, this is in the audiowizard side of the app where you can switch moods and cinema is the best one here for me but overall they all sound good and you can also custom tune the bass and treble here which will be welcome to anyone who uses them, the front end of the app is a bit on the lame side however there is again many options to control them, some of the options can be tuned on the controls too on the headphones, there could have been more presets here but there is enough to keep you going and fine tune yourself in the end and you have room feel,better dialogue, more detailed and tighter bass so in here you can tune to your personal taste.

 

 

Overall It has to be said the company have done it again with a superb pair of headphones with a new color that I like, you are getting super comfortable headphones loud volume and many other features thrown in, there is no lag latency they work great on calls and if you are watching a movie or gaming you are center stage here and will not be dissapointed one bit.

52% of Irish SME businesses have raised prices to counteract inflation squeeze

There is a continued trend of price hikes across the business landscape as 52% of Irish SME businesses have taken the step to raise their prices, according to the latest Linked Finance SME Confidence Index, based on research conducted by Behaviours & Attitudes.

According to the Central Statistics Office (CSO), Consumer Price Index was 4.6% for July, down from 4.8% in June; and 9.6% in July 2022. Initial steps taken by businesses to tackle the inflation squeeze have focused on price increases, but as Ireland’s rate of inflation slows down, businesses are looking to boost earnings.

The survey found 54% of businesses have taken measures beyond pricing to mitigate the effects of inflation. The measures include: 34% of businesses have cut their operational costs, 19% have pursued product diversification, and 12% have introduced discounts and promotions to navigate the challenging economic environment.

Despite tightness, a positive sign is evident as fewer businesses anticipate a decline in activity for the upcoming quarter, with a projected uptick in business activity for Q4 2023. The Index shows that 83% of businesses expect to perform better or in line with projected expectations compared with the same period last year.

“Notwithstanding inflation and a price squeeze on businesses and consumers, there is evidence of the resilience that defines Ireland’s SME sector and reflect its adaptability in the face of changing economic currents,” comments Niall O’Grady, CEO of Linked Finance. “The ability for businesses to innovative and put solutions in place such as product diversification and promotional campaigns, underscores the evolving strategies adopted by businesses as they navigate through a phase of tempered enthusiasm.”

Overall, the Q2 2023 SME Index sees a notable levelling off in business optimism. The latest Index showed Business Optimism at a level of 61.90 (out of 100), only slightly up from 61.62 a year ago, despite a large drop in inflation during the same period last year.

In a surprising turn, the retail sector has demonstrated remarkable performance, defying expectations. This quarter, retail businesses have seen significant gains in their business activity. Recent findings from the ESRI also found that strong improvements in retail sales continues to drive growth in the Irish economy.

However, it is noteworthy that 75% of Retail & Wholesale businesses have increased their prices, reflecting the overarching trend of price adjustments in response to inflationary pressures.

“While we are seeing increased business activity in segments of the economy and business continue to pass higher prices onto consumers, it hasn’t fully translated into higher profits and earnings. This highlight the pressure that businesses are under due to external factors and influences,” continues O’Grady.

“While challenges remain, the anticipation of improved business activity for Q4 2023 and the potential for job growth in regional markets provide hope for SMEs.”

Tech Review – Creative Outlier Free+ and Outlier Free Pro+

Bone conduction headphones have surged in popularity over the last two years and we know that due to the numerous models we have tested and stay tuned for more by the way which are in the review process and for the most these are simple products to use and set up and again for the most there is no app to content with so they are a connect to your phone device and away you go, some however offer more and then you have Air conduction headphones.

Creative however is not new to the scene here nor is the brand and known for delivering excellent audio products be it speakers headphones or earbuds and this is their second time around now with these bone conducting headphones and there is an improvement on last years models and that being in the sound department.

I am speaking about the two products in one review because they are almost identical and the pro offering extra on board storage and a better IP rating other than that the sound for me was identical the controls are identical and the audio profiles are also identical so is the looks apart from the colour choice.

The build quality is great as before and these are super robust they could be flung about the place and still work they can be twisted and tortured and they still work so they are built to last.

Some folk find these neckband type headphones annoying and the questions I always get asked is does the band bounce up and down and how do they sound same two questions all the time oddly enough they never ask about battery life or any other factors.

The neckband sits nicely on your neck to begin with and stays there even in the gym once you have these sat on your ears correct there will be no issue now you might get the odd bounce on the neck if you push it but for the most they are grand and comfortable the only difference is they don’t do in your ears and that is a transition you can only decide if it is for you and it is not as bad as some might be lead to believe.

Controls are simple to use on these guys and both identical you cet three small raised buttons that are tactile and work well to do all the things you need to do so which is volume control skip and reverse tracks play and pause control calls and activate your voice assistant so you have all the controls required however there is no app here.. You have a mfb or better known as a multifunction button which you press 4 times yes 4 times to change the latency, now I say 4 times however there is some earbuds I recently tested that went up to 5 times to do something which is a bit of a joke to be honest.

How do they sound then, well they will and bone conducting headphones will never be as good as headphones or earbuds however the sound quality is getting better as the technology improves over time and for me it has from what I have tested to date and these have vastly improved over their previous models and you have to take into account these are aimed at the sporty person but anyone can wear them which I often do asides from testing.

These both have some bass in there pretty decent sound overall for the technology in play here and deliver a good audio experience whilst being able to hear what is going on around you which is important, not as good as in ear earbuds or headphones but overall you can’t complain when using this technology but it is getting better.

Vhi launches new Dermatology service in partnership with AllView Healthcare & powered by technology & telehealth

Vhi today announced the launch of a new rapid access Dermatology service for the diagnosis and treatment of most dermatological conditions on an outpatient care basis.

Delivered in partnership with AllView Healthcare, Vhi’s Dermatology service provides end-to-end care for the diagnosis and treatment of medical dermatological conditions including common skin conditions such as acne, lesions, sun damage and melanoma – the most serious skin cancer.

With lengthy wait times for accessing dermatology services, Vhi’s new Dermatology service offers one of the fastest routes to medical dermatology treatment nationwide, with appointments available within ten days for Vhi members. Currently there are more 45,000 people awaiting a dermatology appointment in Ireland with 43% waiting for 6 months or more.[1]

By leveraging cutting-edge telehealth and digital technologies, Vhi Dermatology offers a new path to help meet the demand to treat serious skin conditions. Currently every year in Ireland, over 1,000 new cases of melanoma are diagnosed with non-melanoma skin cancer the most common cancer in Ireland. By 2045, it is projected that the number of cases of melanoma diagnosed among males will increase by 177% and among females will increase by 140%.[2]

New dermatology research commissioned by Vhi shows that 1 in 4 respondents are currently concerned about the impact of sun damage on their skin. Serious skin conditions also appear to be having a negative impact on people’s health and wellbeing. Close to half (47%) of those surveyed reported that they suffered stress and anxiety as a direct result of having a skin condition.

Dr Rupert Barry, Consultant Dermatologist and Clinical Lead for Vhi Dermatology Services said: “Over recent years, there has been a growing incidence of skin cancer and other skin conditions with an increasing number of patients requiring end-to-end care from diagnosis to surgical excision. This trend is only set to accelerate. That is resulting in considerable wait times for patients looking to access dermatology services in Ireland with 1 in 4 having to wait a year or more for treatment.

“The launch of the Vhi Dermatology service will help give patients access to the care they need, when they need it. Teledermatology appointments are available for Vhi members nationwide at AllView Healthcare Clinics and use specialist imaging equipment to record a series of high definition microscopic and macroscopic images of the skin complaint.

Following an initial appointment, AllView’s network of dermatology consultants deliver a diagnosis and treatment plan to manage conditions quickly and effectively. If surgery, biopsy or a face-to-face appointment is subsequently required, the AllView Healthcare GP will explain this to the patient and give them the fast access option of attending the Vhi Dermatology Clinic at Vhi 360 Health Centre, in Carrickmines, County Dublin.

Entries are now open for the 24th annual Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Awards. As one of Ireland’s foremost technology award programmes, the awards rank Ireland’s 50 fastest growing indigenous technology companies based on revenue growth over the last four years, celebrating innovation and entrepreneurship.

The list features both private and public listed technology companies that have demonstrated creative strategies, sound management practices and marketplace vision, driving them to achieve the status of high-growth leaders.

Speaking at the launch of this year’s programme, James Toomey, partner and Fast 50 programme lead at Deloitte, who is leading the programme for the first time this year, said:

Amazon Dublin Celebrates First Anniversary

The team at Amazon’s fulfilment centre in Dublin recently celebrated its first anniversary by hosting a week of activities for employees, including a fancy-dress day, prize giveaways and carnival games.

The state-of-the-art fulfilment centre, which created 500 jobs when it opened in August 2022, provides faster delivery for customers across the country, including one-day delivery on hundreds of thousands of items.

The 630,000 square foot centre at Baldonnell Business Park, holds millions of items that are picked, packed and shipped to customers across Ireland as well as the rest of Europe.

One of the team celebrating the first anniversary during the week of fun activities was Colm Jennings. Colm said: “Amazon has provided me with amazing opportunities to work on numerous projects, including site visits from the Tánaiste and volunteering at local charities. It’s great that we can celebrate all of our achievements and these events have been the perfect way to have fun and round off our first year together.”

Since opening its doors, the Dublin fulfilment centre has supported many community organisations locally, with donations totalling €24,000. Charities supported by the team at Amazon in Dublin include Cliona’s Foundation, Jigsaw and LauraLynn Children’s Hospice.

Lee Cox is one of the employees who helped launch the Dublin fulfilment centre and ended up with more than just a job. He said: “The past year has been full of amazing opportunities and experiences thanks to the Amazon family in Dublin. Before joining, I started my training in Edinburgh and didn’t realise that I would meet my future wife along the way.

“Thanks to our paths colliding, we have a new member of the family with the birth of our first son. Without the opportunity to launch Amazon in Dublin, I would never have met my partner, had my little boy and made the amazing friends I have here in Ireland.”

Tech Review – Jisulife Neck Fan Pro 3

Not so long ago we had a scorcher of a few weeks and hopefully not the last but now as this review goes out it is on the cool side which is is what the latest from Jisulife has on offer with their Neck Fan Pro 3 earlier we tested out the Handheld Fan Pro 1s and Neck Fan Pro 1 which literally saved my life as I am not a huge fan of the heat and they worked a treat and anyone that seen them first knda scoffed them however once they tried them out they quickly changed their mind which was funny.

So now we have the newer model Neck Fan Pro3 which has of course additional features thrown in and all for the benefit of the user, the design is similar but some aesthetic changes yet still comfortable to wear and we still have the same top fan speed which is what keeps you cool and I mean cool these products really work folks trust me.

This time around we have got a four dimensional balanced air duct, air negative ions which purifies the air, reduces particulate matter by 99.99%, removes allergens,pollen, dust mites and more and kills bacteria with a steraliation rate of 99.98%, now I can’t prove this but you can certainly feel the air and it feels clean with no smell and better noise reduction this time around.

 

We have also got an infinite 100 toggle setting so you are in control to what suits you best but from using it top speed is best for me and of course it will have an effect on the battery but this time around we have got fast charge with 18W and a 6000 mAh battery to give us a longer time of use.

There is two buttons, one each side and a speed toggle and of course a USB-C port to charge and that is it nothing complicated no app just turn on and go and that is all there is to it and of course enjoy the cool clean air. The switches are for turning on the negative ion which also has an indicator light and the other for speed as mentioned with an LED display but this time the cover seems frosted and not as easy to see.
