Deliveroo Ireland announces a year-long partnership with FoodCloud – it is using its technology to enable customers to add a round-up donation to the charity while ordering food in-app.

Deliveroo Ireland has today announced a year-long partnership with FoodCloud – which will see the food delivery company fundraise on behalf of the food waste and food security social enterprise who were recently named Charity of The Year for their work redistributing surplus food to their network of charities across the country.

As part of its Full Life campaign, Deliveroo is enabling customers to add a round-up donation to their in-app food orders, with all proceeds going to FoodCloud to tackle the twin issues of food waste and food insecurity.  Deliveroo, with their customers, will raise funds to provide up to 500,000 meals, which will be distributed to FoodCloud’s network of more than 600 charities and community groups over the course of 2023.

This partnership comes as new research from Deliveroo reveals that people in Ireland remain generous givers to charity despite the cost of living crisis – only 22% would consider cutting back on charitable giving to save money. The Irish public are more likely to spend less on clothing (49%), leisure activities (40%) and travelling by car (32%) to save money. In addition, 1 in 3 (33%) of the Irish public would be more likely to donate to charity if they were presented with a simpler, more convenient, way to make a donation. Donating through the Deliveroo app couldn’t be easier – Deliveroo customers need only to round-up their order to the nearest euro when paying for their takeaway or groceries. For every €1 raised, 3.2 meals will be provided to people facing food insecurity.

Through the partnership, Deliveroo is aiming to save 210 million tonnes of food from going to waste, which will prevent 675 tonnes of CO2 emissions from entering the atmosphere and damaging the environment in the process. With sustainability being a priority at Deliveroo,  the company is committed to playing a role in reducing food waste.

Working with Deliveroo to raise awareness of the partnership, TV presenter and food influencer, James Kavanagh commented:  It’s no secret that I’m pretty obsessed with food, so I am really pleased to play a role in raising awareness of the amazing partnership between FoodCloud and Deliveroo. This campaign will stop good quality surplus food from going to waste and help so many people who are struggling, which has never been more important. It’s so easy to support through the Deliveroo app – just a few cents will make such a difference, so next time you place an order, remember to round-up to make a donation!

Partnering with FoodCloud marks the next phase of Deliveroo’s Full Life campaign and its longstanding commitment to supporting local communities, following the company providing thousands of meals to people in need through a partnership with the Dublin Simon Community last year and its work to raise awareness of the Women’s Aid helpline working with the Deliveroo rider fleet.

Paddy Quinlan, Senior Regional Manager, Deliveroo Ireland commented: “Since we launched in 2015, Deliveroo Ireland has worked hard to make a positive contribution to the communities in which we operate. We are proud to be building on what’s been achieved so far and our partnership with FoodCloud, one of the most impactful charities around, will provide thousands of meals to those in need across Ireland.”

Iseult Ward, CEO & Co-Founder, FoodCloud said:  “We are delighted to partner with Deliveroo on its Full Life Campaign, an initiative on their platform to raise awareness on the twin issues of food waste and food insecurity that enables customers to make a donation to support our work. Investing in our work to redistribute food that might otherwise go to waste, ensures good food gets to people and families at a time when they are facing unprecedented levels or economic hardship while protecting our planet and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.”

The round-up charity function in the Deliveroo app can be found when customers go to pay for their order. Customers can round-up their order to the nearest euro. What is automated Crypto trading, and how does it work?

Many new cryptos, some viable strategies for trading, and different tools accessible to traders may create confusion. Luckily, technology made it possible to automate many trading processes such as market analysis, order execution, and predicting trends. It frees up a lot of time for strategic planning and establishing a solid foundation for long-term crypto trading success.

Automated crypto trading

Using computer programs (crypto trading bots) to buy and sell digital currencies on one’s behalf is known as automated crypto trading, also referred to as automated cryptocurrency trading. To trade at the best time, these software applications are designed to respond to changes in the market. Additionally, compared to manually buying and selling cryptocurrencies, automatic cryptocurrency trading removes the element of emotion and uncertainty.

Most automated cryptocurrency trading platforms are still APIs, although some recent crypto bots use smart contracts and operate directly on the blockchain. The application programming interface that enables your account to communicate with a cryptocurrency exchange and to open and close positions on your behalf according to predetermined conditions is called an API.

Automated trading is best

They will always stick to their game plan and follow any new market trend or event as soon as it happens because they are also emotion-free.

There are several crypto trading bots, each with features, capabilities, and costs. Arbitrage or grid trading bots tend to be the ones that are used the most. Grid trading, on the other hand, focuses on the “buy low, sell high” strategy, while arbitrage bots take advantage of price differences across trading.

The hodl function on 3Commas is one example of a differentiating feature of some automated crypto platforms. This goes beyond trading. It also lets users buy crypto at low prices and automatically hold it. A bot will help the user select the cryptocurrencies they want, but the user is responsible for doing so.

In general, there are four stages in automated cryptocurrency trading: generating signals from data, allocating risks, and carrying them out:

Data analysis:

A crypto trading bot necessitates data analysis. It is because of the importance of data in today’s technology-driven world. Software with machine learning capabilities can complete data mining tasks faster than humans. A bot predicts market trends and identifies potential trades. It depends on market data and technical analysis indicators. It is after the data analysis gets finished.

Risk allocation:

The risk allocation function is where the bot allocates risk among various investments. They depend on the trader’s predetermined parameters. When trading, these rules specify how much of a percentage of capital you will invest.

Execution:

An execution is a procedure by which you can buy and sell cryptocurrencies. It is in response to signals from the pre-activated trading system. During this time, the signals will generate buy or sell orders and send them to the exchange via its API.

How profitable is crypto bot trading?

Despite popular belief, manual trading is less common. Algorithmic trading bots have dominated the financial sector. Algorithms drive most Wall Street activity. They get used to buy and sell almost everything, including cryptocurrencies and bonds. It includes foreign trading.

The primary cause of this shift is simple. Compared to humans, bots can make decisions faster. They can stick to their trading strategy. It happens even in volatile markets because emotions do not influence them.

Remember that crypto trading bots aren’t perfect and can’t protect you from all risks. They can automate trading procedures to assist novice and seasoned traders generate profits. It is a must to have a fundamental understanding of the market. Be aware of trading regulations and tools to configure a bot.

What amount does a crypto trading bot cost? It all depends on the user’s requirements for features and functions. Some crypto trading bots are free. Others may cost a huge amount each month.

The system’s design and whether trades get monitored on a regular basis. They determine how safe automated cryptocurrency trading is. Yet you cannot set them and forget. You can’t expect them to deal with market volatility and protect traders from losses. They may be a dependable instrument. They can simplify cryptocurrency trading through process optimisation and hassle-free 24/7 trading. They are emotionless by default. Thus they help avoid bad decisions that could result in a loss of money due to human error or the other way around.

Conclusion

Before you pay for anything or place your money down for a trading account, be alert. You must conduct proper due diligence on the platforms and projects. Always ask questions to clear your doubts. Or else you may end up losing money if you do not. Are you looking for a safe cryptocurrency trading platform to invest in crypto? Then you must check out digital yuan.

Energia Group highlight the infinite possibilities of machine learning and artificial intelligence in the energy sector this Science Week

As one of Ireland’s leading renewable energy developers and suppliers of green electricity, Energia Group proudly employs numerous scientists working across various fields, from marine biology to data science. Ahead of Science Week, which runs from the 13th to the 20th of November, Energia Group is celebrating the infinite possibilities and the role of science in the energy sector and how that contributes to Ireland’s climate goals. Neil Mc Caul, Gregory Balogh and Anchit Bhagat are working together on an innovative artificial intelligence solution that can support energy traders in the decisions they make.

Neil Mc Caul, Energy Trading Development Manager with Energia Group has more than 15 years energy trading experience. He has seen first-hand how the rapid increase in digitalization plus the added complexity of many additional energy sources such as solar, increased levels of wind (both onshore & offshore) and battery storage has changed the energy trading industry. Commenting on the changes, Neil said, “The historical practice of trading by commercial intuition, supported by limited analytics, is being challenged by more data-driven, machine-based trading.”

Speaking about the innovative machine learning and trading project, Neil said, “The aim of the project is to develop a machine learning system to provide decision support and additional confidence to the trading team. It is about bringing together the skillsets of traders who have a deep and detailed understanding of the market with the insights data scientists can garner from machine learning and artificial intelligence” Read more about machine learning solutions

The project has been announced as a finalist the in 2022 AI Awards which will be held later this month. The project demonstrates the importance of collaboration between academia and industry.

Gregory Balogh recently graduated from Queens University Belfast with a Masters in Data Analytics and is currently a PhD candidate exploring the topic of explainable AI in Queens University. Gregory is a Data Scientist working on the Trading Development team and he is responsible for designing and building artificial intelligence solutions to support trading decisions.

I really enjoy the collaborative aspect of my role working closely with energy traders and bringing my data insights to the table to enable strong trading decisions.”

Speaking about what he enjoys most about working in Data Science, Anchit said, “Data Science is about converting lots of complex data into useful information and insights helping the business to make rational decisions and solve complex problems based on large volumes of data. With the help of data science, you can in a way predict the future based on historical experiences or events.”

The Future of Autonomous Vehicles

Work on developing the technology behind autonomous vehicles began in the 1970s, and it continues apace. The idea behind these vehicles is that they can sense the environment around them and don’t require any human involvement to drive and control them. There are six stages to creating this type of autonomous vehicle. Read on to learn more about these stages, see which stage we’re currently at, and discover the positives, negatives, and challenges of developing autonomous vehicles.

How are autonomous vehicles being accepted by the public?

Public perception is one of the major challenges in developing autonomous vehicles. According to a 2021 American Automobile Association (AAA) survey, only 22% of respondents thought that manufacturers should focus on developing autonomous vehicles. The story is similar in the UK. A 2021 YouGov survey found that only 23% of respondents would be happy to sit in an autonomous vehicle, and 67% said they would be unhappy driving on the same roads as autonomous vehicles. People are also concerned about potential data protection issues and the probable high purchase costs of these vehicles.

It’s important to note that autonomous vehicles have several benefits, such as 360° vision, interconnection between vehicles, and enhanced access for people with disabilities. Despite these advantages, overcoming public mistrust is a significant obstacle that developers and manufacturers face.

The levels of autonomous vehicles

The autonomy of vehicles is categorised by six different levels as follows:

  • Level 0 – no automation present.
  • Level 1 – driver assistance present – hands on or shared control.
  • Level 2 – partial driving automation present – hands off.
  • Level 3 – conditional driving automation present – eyes off.
  • Level 4 – high level of driving automation present – mind off.
  • Level 5 – full driving automation present – optional steering wheel.

Currently, we are at level 2, with level 3 not far away. Level 4 is expected to be reached by the middle of the decade, and optimistic predictions suggest that level 5 will follow soon after. Once autonomous vehicles are at this level, it will be possible to do many other things while you are driving.

It will be possible to access entertainment which is a significant improvement on having to concentrate while navigating miles of long boring roads or motorways. For example, you could use your tablet or smartphone to watch a movie or play a game at Platincasino Ireland and keep yourself entertained during long journeys. Also, if you are travelling to an event, you could get ready during your journey, which is a big time saver.

Safer and reliable mobility

There’s still a long way to go before full vehicle automation is safe and reliable enough to be available on public roads. Technology is still evolving and testing is underway. The main problem with testing is getting enough mileage on roads to demonstrate the reliability of self-driving cars. So, other testing methods are being considered, such as simulation and closed courses. On-road testing has to be the last step for safety reasons.

Collaboration in the industry

There are substantial challenges facing automotive companies and tech companies looking to produce self-driving vehicles. In the case of automotive companies, these challenges are caused by the need for hardware and software, while tech companies face the challenge of producing safe and reliable vehicles. Companies will likely need to collaborate to benefit from their respective strengths and overcome these challenges.

Conclusion

Fully autonomous vehicles will allow us to play games, watch movies, and even get ready for a night out while travelling. However, these benefits are still a few years away. Full automation is categorised as level 5, and we’re currently at level 2. To progress further, developers and manufacturers must overcome public reluctance and ensure the safety and reliability of self-driving vehicles. Work is underway to do this.
