HERE maps Beta for Android. #Maps #HERE by @jimboireland Get it free today. #TechBuzzIreland

HERE maps is a well known mapping service and it does come preinstalled on some of the latest Samsung devices running 4.0 or higher ,we have given it a quick test on our One Plus one and so far its been impressive,we have been using HERE maps on Windows Phone for  a long time now too and again its as equally impressive.

When you download HERE maps you will get the typical icon to add to your homescreen,(Header image) and with your location switched on it pics up your location very quick..

 

You can then chose between different views such as Traffic,Transport and satellite..

You need to be logged in to get the full features and of course any maps downloaded can be viewed offline saving you money without having to connect to your data.

 

HERE maps also gives you all the regular features of most mapping services such as Motorways,Tolls and Ferries as seen below..

 

 

HERE maps is very easy to use and of course comes with the DRIVE feature too,same again as windows phone users would be used to..

 

 

You can also collect your information and of course share it using email or social networks for example.You will also be given information where possible on your searches which is pretty good.

 

 

The benefits of HERE are layered maps,free voice guided navigation and free offline maps,you must be logged in to avail of this feature but those who have used HERE on Windows Phone will be able to use this without hassle.

On your android device you will need to allow unknown sources,to do this go to SETTINGS – SECURITY – UNKNOWN SOURCES and tick the box..

Then download the HERE APK from your device directly..

Yesterday we had the opportunity to spend some time with some new devices and the Sony Xperia range was on offer we had only expected to see the Z3 but the compact arrived just on time alongside some other devices and tech.

First thing to notice was the new packaging which has changed from the previous models in the Z2 range..

 

The back of the packaging to was different and gave us good detail on what to expect from the latest duo from Sony..

 

 

 

 

The Z3 and Z3 compact is now available in Ireland check with your network or call to the CarphoneWarehouse..

The One Plus One is arguably the best phone on the market today especially for you moneys worth anyway and its a very nice phone to own and its a joy to use,As  a rule of thumb i always suggest buying a case or cover but some chose not too,again this does take away the real feel of a device which for some is a better option.

Noreve have sent us the latest case in their catalogue for the One Plus One and its quite nice even though this type of case is not my first choice when investing in cases for whichever device i might be using.

#FlipBoard finally hits #WindowsPhone OVER A YEAR LATE (early build) ,And it DOES NOT FLIP.. by @jimboireland

Last year when we attended the Nokia World conference in Abu Dhabi we got to see flipboard and spoke to some of the guys there too,over ONE YEAR LATER  Flipboard finally hits windows phone.. By the way it was announced in JULY 2013

My first impressions of flipboard are not good,in fact its disappointing compared to other similar apps there,flipboard does NOT FLIP this will be a huge let down to people who have waited almost a year for this app.

I am a full time windows phone user and like the OS as well as Android ,i love apps,Millions have waited for this app.

Watch the video below and see how it stacks up towards Android and rival app on Windows Phone Magnify ,which gets my vote..Android still has the best flipboard experience overall…

You can download Flipboard for Windows Phone  HERE Hopefully this app we have all waited long enough for gets an update soon..The other thing is it does not support 512 MB devices,again this will annoy people.

Over all it seems to be fine elsewhere and has a similar layout..

Personally speaking i don’t drink wine at all so i don’t know what i am missing but wine fans can rejoice with this handy app.

The free to download app is designed to take the hard work out of wine selection by providing helpful information on things like tasting notes and food matching, special offers and latest additions to the range.
