Tech Review – Vantrue N4 dashcam

Dashcams are a must have and it is one thing every time I drill into peoples heads when I check out a new dashcam yet they ignore it and some I know have seen the bad side of this but then went on to purchase on later on when it was too late, it is never to late to own a dashcam and the N4 is one of the latest on offer from Vantrue, this is very similar to the N2S we did before and has no app support so it is the old fashioned way to get the information from it via cable and PC.

This is companies latest dash cam Vantrue N4. It is a 3-way triple car camera, comes with IR night vision, 24 hours parking mode.

The key features of N4:

  1. Three channel front inside rear dash cam
  2. Infrared night vision with Sony STARVIS.
  3. 24*7 Hours Parking Mode (collision detection parking mode+ motion detection parking mode)
  4. Super Capacitor instead of the lithium battery.
  5. Advanced technology balances in all areas of exposure, reduce a bright screen and enhance the darker videos.

Set Up

Setting up is simple and is similar to most dash cams on the market and if you have never done one that requires putting cable in the rear of your car the tools are in the box to do so it is not hard and a simple process and once put in place you are good to go and just leave it there and let it do its job, the rest then is done on the front main camera unit and we go through all this in the video review below..

What you get

The N4 offers 155° front camera, 165° inside camera and 160° rear camera to record front, inside cabin and road back simultaneously at 1440P+1080P+1080P at 30fps, which gives you all-round protection when you’re on the roads. Dual recording mode captures a crystal clear 2560x1440P in the front and 1920x1080P 30fps inside cabin or rear. The front camera can seamlessly record up to 1520p when use alone, enabling clear capturing of license plates and road signs.

Sony STARVIS CMOS sensor, a big F1.4 aperture 6-glass lens observing road front, F1.8 6-glass lens observing rear, this car camera is able to increase exposure automatically in dark situations for capture clear videos footage; 4 IR LED lights facing the car cabin, which can accurately capture the driver and passengers even when the cabin is completely dark, perfect for rideshare drivers such as Uber, Lyft and Taxi.

Who is this for

Everyone in short, the motorist in Ireland is shafted by cartel insurers and false claims and this is ideal to cover you from all angles front, rear and inside so there is no excuse not to have one and it is an investment too so if you do not have a dashcam get one now.

24 Hours Motion Detection or Collision Detection

With the energy saving motion detection parking mode, the dash cam will be on standby mode until motion is detected, the dash cam will wake up and get ready to record once detects movement in front. With collision detection, If an impact is detected when car dash cam is off, it will auto on to record the impact. The 3 channel dash cam always be connected to hardwire kit(buy extra ASIN B083XB8T7T) or external battery for parking mode.

Variable sensitivity G-sensor emergency lock videos to event folder following impact, loop recording auto overwrite the oldest file when card is full, auto LCD off avoid distracting, capable of housing up to 256GB of external memory(not in the box, recommend Vantrue sd card), firmware updates for continuous improvements and new features, optional GPS (need to buy separately B083XBS88L) to track route, location and speed.

Is it worth the money

Yes, it is a more expensive dashcam however you are covered from all angles here and it is a simple to use gadget and no smarts involved like an app here, most folk have just the front window dashcam this is much better and covers you full stop

See the video review for more below and the company sent us this to review with no compensation, editorial input and is seeing the review the same time as you..

Tech Review – Vantrue N2S dual dashcam. #Motoring #Vantrue #Tech #Dashcams

I have tested a huge range of dashcams here in Ireland the most from any tech site anyway and this is the first time to test out the brand VANTRUE and today we have the N2S dual dashcam which is ideal for any driver and particularly those who carry passengers ie taxi men etc. But yes anyone can use this dashcam and everyone should have a dashcam.

First thing here to note is you will need to buy an SD card and do not cheap out here either you will need a class 10 card up to 256GB, the more storage the better due to the options on this cam the higher the setting the better the quality the more space it takes up however it does not overwrite protected files your normal recorded files are like any other dashcam but it is better to be safe than sorry buying cheap SD cards go and buy a good branded one rather than something cheap of Amazon.

The dashcam has plenty of features but no app which is shame but still it works really well and simple to use we go through all this on the video review anyway so you will be able to navigate through it. So we have two cameras in operation here that can be set to a resolution your prefer.

In Dual Recording mode:1440P+1080P(30FPS); 1080P+1080P
(30FPS): 1080P+720P(30FPS); 720P+1080P(30FPS); 720P+720P(30FPS); IN SINGLE FRONT CAM RECORDING mode, 2592x1520P(30FPS);
2560x1440P(30FPS); 1920x1080P(30FPS); 1280x720P(30FPS)
Other features included are loop recording, time lapse, parked recording inside and out with sensors, heat and cold resistance, wide angle, GPS player which you will need to download.
Set up is easy we go through this in the video review, you have some buttons up top for navigation and an emergency key to record on the back so once hit file is recorded and protected. You can adjust both the inside camera to your needs so it is not a fixed camera like the front but there is a ball and socket joint to get the angle you prefer this will work in any vehicle.
Once it is set up that is it job done just leave it there and let it do its job.
Overall this is a great dashcam coming in much cheaper than its rivals minus the app it is not a touch screen either but the controls work well and it is easy to use and the menu structure is not exhausted either by sub menus galore..
