Life360 launches new Tile Bluetooth tracker line

Life360, a family connection and safety company, today introduces an all-new lineup of Tile Bluetooth trackers. Dedicated to making everyday family life better, Life360’s new Tile trackers are designed to help families effortlessly keep track of their valuable items and ensure the safety of their loved ones with enhanced location-sharing capabilities. Each tracker will feature a multi-function button that extends the Life360 app’s SOS services, providing an extra layer of security at the user’s fingertips. Tech Review – Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra

The latest watch from Samsung will be now my third one and I still have two in my watch box and by far this is the best on offer today and that is their new Watch Ultra which I have been wearing for a few weeks now.

First up this stands out be it the bright Orange strap that comes with it or the shape though seen before though many will say it is a pure copy of the Apple watch Ultra series it is a big watch and how I like them like most I own today be is smart or just a regular watch anything under 44mm does not cut it.

On the wrist it feels good this is important that it feels comfortable and having tested this in Lanzarote with the rest of the recent releases it can be worn all day and had no issues with the heat and for someone who prefers fabric straps this done a great job and was comfortable and did not catch in pockets etc like some watches and their straps can do. It is rugged yet tough and comfortable to wear all day long even in the hotter climates.

OK so what did they miss or not copy as some say, the digital crown and the rotating bezel, no huge deal for me but seems like it may be for some but at the price you can see why it is cheaper omitting these two pieces out and I think it is for the best I would go one further and think it looks better the the Apple Ultra series which is a bit expensive and being honest this watch is not cheap either in comparison to others out there..

The build quality is excellent here too and it is certainly tough with the tough look it gives you on first glance and with the three pushers that work a treat you still can’t avoid the Apple esq look to it but it is different and it is not a rectangle but that is personal choice and for me it is not a huge deal buy hey the flat tyre look is gone, who remembers that.

The screen stands out, it is the same at the watch 7 44mm though with an Amoled always on display which is bright and with the right face stands out even more and you can see the one I chose with the added complications which are a plenty on this watch which makes it a very useful companion device.

Replacing rotating bezel here is their touch and scroll on the screen which is easy to use and navigate with so it is no big deal missing the bezel you can easily go through the device and its settings and you get prompted to do other things via phone if you want to do so which is just as handy.

Battery life on the watch Ultra is not bad I could get up to three days considering the amount of notifications pushed towards it which is the point of the watch in fairness it keeps you away from your phone but if you have either of their latest devices that is a hard thing to do and defeats the purpose but your get my point.

Overall this watch is quite compelling and sticks it up to Apple and they will have a rehashed version of their other models but for now this is the best on offer if you are in the Samsung eco system offering solid information good battery life and many excellent sports and outdoor features and worthy of the name ULTRA slapped on the end like Apples Pro..

Irish Tech Challenge Announces Top Seven Startup Finalists to Scale At Dogpatch Labs

The Irish Tech Challenge, a prestigious competition that identifies and supports high-impact South African start-ups, has announced its top seven finalists for the 2024 edition.
Launched in 2022, the Irish Tech Challenge is a leading partnership between the Embassy of Ireland in South Africa, the South African Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) and the Technology Innovation Agency (TIA) in Pretoria. Dogpatch Labs in Dublin and the Wits Tshimologong Digital Innovation Precinct in Johannesburg serve as key implementation partners.
The 2024 edition received more than 350 applicants from South African start-ups, with seven ultimately selected as finalists. Each of these finalists will receive a grant of €10,000 and a funded trip to Ireland at the end of September to participate in an intensive weeklong accelerator and mentorship programme hosted in Dublin by Dogpatch Labs.
“The Irish Tech Challenge is a flagship programme for the Irish Embassy and our partners, providing an important link for South African entrepreneurs to the Irish tech ecosystem. The growth and success of the programme is a testament to the abundance of talent and creative thinking among South African entrepreneurs. This year’s cohort showcases innovation across a number of sectors and will benefit hugely from this experience. We look forward to growing this successful partnership in the coming years,” said Austin Gormley, Ambassador of Ireland to South Africa.
Dogpatch Labs will serve as the base for the South African entrepreneurs while they are in Dublin. While at Dogpatch, the startups will meet with a select group of Irish tech leaders and potential investors who will help them face the challenges of limited resources, infrastructure, networks and staffing while preparing for scalability across Africa, Europe and beyond.
“Our mission at Dogpatch is to create an innovation ecosystem that supports entrepreneurs. The South African entrepreneurs joining us for an immersion week are developing solutions to address critical sustainability challenges. Our own Irish entrepreneurs can learn how we can incorporate this mindset into our own tech ecosystem, while supporting the South Africans in rolling out their technologies to the rest of the world,” said Ashley Shak, Head of Sustainability and Innovation Programmes at Dogpatch Labs.

HONOR announces unprecedented demand for Magic V3 and confirms stock is currently limited in some European markets

Tech Review – NANK Runner Diver2 Pro – Bone Conduction Headphones

The NANK Runner Diver2 Pro – Bone Conduction Headphones comes with an array of features for those who like the outdoors and sports featuring noise cancelling an on board MP3 player with 32GB of on board storage an IP69 rating for Swimmers and Bluetooth 5.4 and give you 10 hours of battery life and 10 minutes charging gives you and hours time to listen to music which is not bad at all.

There is no app with these but the whole ideal is to keep you away from your phone as they are sports orientated but the casual user can use them too.

They have a robust build with a nice texture all round and will easily take many a knock.

Built in there is open ear mode and ANC mode whereby you twist headphones as you will see in the full video review below to set the tone, there is also earpieces you can op in your ears which give good passive noise isolation and the first time I have deen this and it is good to see something new, these work really well and fit well and like the headphones will not fall out or off.

The sound is decent with some slight leakage depending on how loud you have them but expected from such products the volume is decently loud and they are more on the bass heavy side for me but I am ok with that, the sound was fine on highs lows and mids and no tinny sound when maxed out or lag latency noted during my testing.

There is an on board MP3 player which is great and this also has several modes to pick from with 32GB storage there is plenty of room for your listening needs.

The controls are also placed on one side with the charge /data transfer and you have all the controls as expected with skip and reverse tracks, play and pause you can higher and lower the volume and access your voice assistant and calls, calls where fine and again on the deeper side.

Overall an ideal kit for those who are into sports and more they are a solid product that will last.

Sony announces the Playstation 5 Pro

The PlayStation5 Pro (PS5Pro) console is the latest hardware innovation to enter the PlayStation®5 (PS5®) family of products from Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE). Revealed today, the PS5 Pro console aims to provide players with richer gameplay experiences through super sharp image clarity, high frame rate gameplay, and advanced ray tracing and it has been a while since the PS5 launch.

PS5 Pro enables the world’s greatest game creators to develop enhanced gaming experiences by taking advantage of the console’s more powerful hardware and system architecture. PS5 Pro delivers the most impressive visuals and performance to date on a PlayStation console, with new features that include:

  • Upgraded GPU with 67 percent more Compute Units than the current PS5 console and 28 percent faster memory. This enables up to 45 percent faster rendering for gameplay, making games run even faster.
  • Advanced Ray Tracing that provides more dynamic reflection and refraction of light at more than double the speed of the current PS5 console.
  • AI-Driven Upscaling with PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, a machine learning-based technology that provides super sharp image clarity by adding an extraordinary amount of detail.

The PS5 Pro console comes in a familiar look that blends perfectly with the PlayStation 5 family of products. It also provides an option for players to add an Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive (sold separately).

Games that take advantage of the PS5 Pro features will include a “PS5 Pro Enhanced” designation within their title. Sample games that will be PS5 Pro Enhanced include blockbuster titles from PlayStation Studios and SIE’s partners, such as Alan Wake 2, Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, Demon’s Souls, Dragon’s Dogma 2, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Gran Turismo 7, Hogwarts Legacy, Horizon Forbidden West, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, The Crew Motorfest, The First Descendant, The Last of Us Part II Remastered, and more.

Games that are playable on the PS5 console will be playable on PS5 Pro, utilizing the same user interface and online community for multiplayer gaming and network services. Other features include PS5 Pro Game Boost, which can apply to more than 8,500 backward compatible PlayStation®4 (PS4®) games playable on PS5 Pro. This feature may stabilize or improve the performance of supported PS4 and PS5 games. Enhanced Image Quality for PS4 games is also available to improve the resolution on select PS4 games.

Current accessories available for PS5 will also be compatible with PS5 Pro, including PlayStation®VR2, PlayStation Portal™ remote player, DualSense Edge™ wireless controller, Access™ controller, Pulse Elite™ wireless headset and Pulse Explore™ wireless earbuds.

Launching in time for the holiday shopping season, PS5 Pro will be available at participating retailers and directly from PlayStation at direct.playstation.com. Pre-orders will begin on September 26, 2024.

The PS5 Pro console launches on November 7, 2024, at a recommended retail price (RRP) of $699.99 USD, £699.99 GBP, €799.99 EUR, and ¥119,980 JPY (includes tax). It features a 2TB solid state drive and includes a DualSense wireless controller. PS5 Pro will also launch with the latest wireless technology, Wi-Fi 7, in territories supporting this standard.
