Ping to launch as perfect replacement to Skype for business messaging

With Microsoft officially shutting down Skype in May, a new purpose-built communication platform has emerged as the ideal successor.

Ping, a secure and fully encrypted end-to-end messaging platform, is primed to launch as a modern, intuitive, and industry-focused alternative to legacy platforms like Skype and Teams.

Designed for seamless transition

Unlike Microsoft Teams, which is being positioned as Skype’s successor, Ping is built with speed, security, and usability at its core.

It enables professionals to migrate effortlessly, offering a straightforward way to download and transfer their Skype contacts directly into Ping.

A dedicated iGaming directory

What sets Ping apart is its fully authenticated iGaming industry directory, allowing users to connect instantly with verified professionals across major operators, suppliers, and service providers.

Unlike traditional messaging platforms, Ping ensures company-verified employee authentication, reducing spam, fraud, and phishing risks while fostering trust and transparency across the industry.

Built for the modern age

Available on both desktop and mobile, Ping delivers a seamless experience across multiple devices. More akin to WhatsApp or Telegram than Skype or Teams, it provides real-time messaging, voice and video calls, and enhanced security features designed for the fast-paced iGaming sector.

“With Skype fading into obsolescence, the industry needs a communication tool that truly understands its needs,” said Ping CEO Agne Galvelyte.

“Ping is not just a replacement—it’s an upgrade. It brings the iGaming community together with verified connections, industry-specific features, and a modern interface that makes business communication effortless.”

Ping is set to become the go-to communication tool for iGaming professionals following an official launch on 25 March 2025.

WhatsApp popular in Europe but Irish prefer Zoom during the COVID pandemic. #Messaging #Apps #Zoom #WhatsApp

Over the last few weeks the use of Messaging apps has surged due to the covid pandemic and has changed the way we communicate for some and some apps in particular have seen an astronomical rise in use such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams. Video messaging is a huge thing today and may be the norm for some time to come yet and could be a new move going forward in how we communicate which might make some businesses rethink their strategy.

Our friends at picodi have sent over this study to showcase what apps are being used

In 14 countries — including Ireland — the most popular messaging client was Zoom. The interest in this app skyrocketed mostly in the northern European countries (United Kingdom, Norway), in some Baltic countries (Lithuania, Estonia), as well as in Ukraine and Moldavia.

Skype gained popularity in Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, and Greece. Similar to Skype, Viber and Microsoft Teams ruled only in four countries. The popularity of both messaging clients increased in the Balkans. Microsoft Teams won in Liechtenstein and Viber ranked first in Belarus. Denmark was the only country where Google Meet took first place among other messaging clients.

We’ve improved the way you search for people and groups on Skype. Instead of two separate lists for contacts and recent conversations, Skype for Web introduces a timeline view – a single, searchable list that makes it easier to start new conversations and find existing ones.Great for all your conversation types

Video calls, instant messaging and audio calling with a friend or group of friends – however you want to keep in touch, Skype for Web gets you to the conversation quickly from your desktop browser (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Safari and Firefox). Don’t forget to install the plug-in before you make or receive your first call.

Never miss a moment

We’ve added notifications on Skype for Web (you’ll need to enable them when you sign-in), so you don’t miss incoming instant messages, audio or video calls, even if you’re using another app or viewing a different website in another browser window.

We’ll be continuing to roll-out Skype for Web worldwide in the next few weeks, so please share your thoughts in the Skype Community. We are constantly improving Skype for Web and would love to hear your feedback.

Microsoft to withdraw modern Skype starting July 7 by @Tiwaash #Microsoft #Skype #Windows

Microsoft has been busy lately unifying it’s core apps to gel with the soon to be available Windows 10, that’s why today it announced to withdraw support from the modern Skype simplifying your PC experience down to one app that you can use either with your mouse and keyboard or with touch. Starting on July 7, Skype is updating PC users of the Windows modern application to the Windows desktop application, and retiring the modern application.

With the upcoming release of Windows 10 for PCs, it makes sense to use the Skype application optimized for mouse and keyboards use, capable of doing touch as well rather than 2 separate applications performing the same function. This is result of the feedback taken by the Skype team through its users.

Anyone trying to access the modern application on PCs starting from July 7 forward will be automatically directed to download the desktop application. If you already have Skype for Windows desktop you don’t need to do anything. Also, if you’re on a Windows RT tablet device, there is no change for you.

Stay tuned for more tech buzz.
