Tech Review – QCY MeoBuds Pro earbuds

The QCY MeloBuds Pro are the latest earbuds on offer from the company and the recently reviewed headphones called the H3 have been a great start to their new line-up of products and an excellent pair of headphones.

With these earbuds coming in at around 50 euro there is little to complain about here and they have a really good app to go with them that put more expensive models to shame and that say quite a lot here.

The style and fit is like most earbuds here, they sit well in the ears and have a secure fit but be sure to check out the tips for the best seal which yields the best results as I always say.

One stand out feature is the ANC on the MeloBuds Pro at the price they come in for as they have a wide frequency range and offer up to 46db on ANC and 6 yes 6 transparency modes built in so there is options for all here.

There is also 6 mics the most we see these days is two or four but 6 now being the standard and again at the price it is unheard of the features present in these earbuds.

There is dual device connectivity on board so if like me and you use two devices all day this is perfect and seamless and can be controlled via the app which you can see more of below and in the video review where we take a tour of the said app which is great and loaded with features including a decent battery life at around 34 hrs at 75% volume and with a ten minute charge you can get up to 1hr playtime. This will vary per user and EQ/Volume settings as always.

The sound is also where it is at here with the QCY MeloBuds Pro and it is superb for the price and with their companion app there is not much left to say but these are worth every single penny you spend which is little and what is on offer from more well established brands.

Highs lows and mids all great super ANC and transparency modes with a notable difference on switching unlike some others out there, great treble and bass high volume and you can also customise to your requirements with spatial sound.

For the gamers yes they are also covered here with up to 80ms latency when game mode is activated and their advanced spatial audio algorithm enhances the soundstage, offering a 360° Stereo Sound experience. Equipped with a 12mm dynamic driver units if it is music movies or gaming you are center stage.

Tech Review – QCY H3 Wireless Noise Cancelling headphones

The QCY H3 Wireless Noise Cancelling headphones are an affordable pair of headphones that have been a delight to use the last while and offer plenty for those who want something new, the brand name might not be familiar with everyone but it is one to check out.

The presentation is a standard affair here kept simple like the headphones themselves which are light, clean and kept simple. They are comfortable to wear for long periods of time and come with a gaming mode so for those who listen to music and game will be fine.

The controls are all on one side here too and kept simple with a dedicated ANC button and all other features present and the ANC is quite good here considering the price point.

ANC is something many like to take on board when buying new headphones and for new it was quite good here in comparison to other more expensive headphones tested and this for me is a good selling point and once this is activated you can forget about anything going on outside.

There is multipoint connection and good call quality which is most helpful these days and if you are like me and work on a laptop and phone it is ideal and with a good battery life of up to 60 hours depending on your settings again good solid points here.

Not only this there is other features to look at such as adaptive mode transparency mode you can also adjust to indoor noisy commuting anti-wind noise and commuting and not only that those modes are adjustable.

The sound is also great here and these are loud with 40mm drivers which is how I like it no lag or tinny sound on testing and generally hit the notes well be it on movies music and even gaming there is also sound channel balance built in, highs lows and mids good and direction and with access to their app which is excellent gives delivery of a real solid pair of headphones and should be check out.

Tech Review – Jabra Elite 10 Gen 2

The Jabra Elite 10 Gen 2 is probably the last pair of earbuds from the brand according to some new seen on the internet how true that is remains to be seen and for me hopefully not but perhaps dipping in a new area such as air conduction or bone conduction type earphones..

People may struggle to tell the difference between these and the previous generation and they would be right as this time around all the new upgrades or on the inside including the case for spatial audio when you connect another device to it, there is new colours too and overall better looking than the typical Black offering we tend to see much of these days.

When it comes to the fit there is no issues here at all and you get extra tips in the box as you can see in the unboxing of both new variants here.

The earbuds have a nice texture and look to them giving them a more premium look and so is the soft touch case, the case size is average for me and looks well although the colour I have is more difficult to keep clean for some reason however a wipe with a damp cloth brings it back to new.

The Jabra Sound Plus app is of course present here loaded with features as expected and again we see Dolby head tracking on board along with all the other features we have covered multiple times but we take a look in the video review below.

The speakers by some may be considered small but the other tech packed in here is up at the top with a new hear through better spatial sound and head tracking not only this there is better ANC  which is subjective and how you use your earbuds the EQs and volumes etc.

For me overall there is an improvement acrross the board with the Gen 2 and did not disappoint me at all and within the app alongside playing with the EQs there is much to like here and asked if they are worth the upgrade I would say yes however this is subjective but from using the last model I can tell a clear difference for the most.

Highs lows and mids all fine super bass, this was one big improvement great hear through and a great audio experience all round indoors and outdoors, calls excellent to and a slight improvement over background noise, again this differs from indoors and outdoor use but the calls overall pretty good and clear both ends.

There is multi pairing again and like me if you use two products everyday it is a seamless effort here to get things done the buttons work well and do not apply any pressure on the ears like some can and all the commands worked well each time which is plenty, everything is hear from volume control skip and reverse tracks play and pause, voice assistant and sound modes.

Control options

Overall if you are in the market for new top end earbuds these should be on your list and taking into account they could be the last time to get earbuds from Jabra and if you have been a fan of other brands and not made the switch to test out what Jabra have to offer this is your final chance to see what you have been missing.

Tech Review – GELEIPU X5 Smart Projector

The GELEIPU X5 Smart Projector has been my tech of choice to check out recently and projectors are king in my house. Long gone now is the TV as a centerpiece in any room bar one and I will soon phase that out too as I no longer see the TV as attractive and it takes up space.

With projectors for me these offer a bigger screen with no room lost at home and if like me you have a portable screen it can be brought into any room and used outdoors which is great during the Summer months.

This projector is larger than what I currently have but not an issue they do come in all shapes and sizes now but they are getting smaller which is good news. There is plenty of options here built in such as options to plug in consoles headphones AV and more and all is kept simple with a simple UI to navigate on the set-up menu and then you have your own Android TV and once logged in you are good to go.

GELEIPU X5 Smart Projector – techbuzzireland

The sound is decent too with nice base and giving a cinematic experince just like the options to customize the colour of screen and so on, you are best using a white based wall or pull down screen if you have one or you could get a roll up one from Amazon for about 70 euro that sticks onto a stand and is portable.

Picture quality is great and not dark like others tested in the past so it is bright and the darker the room the better still applies being honest but overall a decent bright picture is to be had and get full benefit.

There is little to complain about here apart from the keystone setting which is the minimum however when placed facing a permanent place it will just focus and adjust for you and give you a great visual experience all round be if for movies and gaming and then pop on your headphones and just be immersed all round.

Setup and use

The headphones on opening allow for connection to Bluetooth directly while getting the most out of the JabraSound+  is the better option. The earbuds deliver excellent sound quality with customizable EQ settings through the Jabra Sound+ app. The app has received an impressive 4.5 out of 5 rating from over 199,000 reviews and 5 million downloads. The app also allows users to adjust call settings, HearThrough, and Sidetone to their preferences.

Smart Case

One of the standout features of the Elite 8 Active Gen 2 is the plug-and-play smart case that allows for audio streaming from any device with a 3.5mm or USB-C output. This versatile case makes it possible to enjoy spatial audio on gym equipment or even your TV at home.

Warranty

Jabra offers a 2-year warranty against failure from dust and water with app registration, providing peace of mind for users. The warranty can be easily registered through the Jabra Sound+ app.

Conclusion.

The Jabra Elite 8 Active Gen 2 is of excellent build quality using the same formula in design as the previous Elite 8 Active having excellent IP rating for water and dust to military standards. The software JabraSound+  has received excellent reviews and again can’t fault this. The Audio quality is great allowing for customisation of the audio experience or tailored to your style. The Adaptive Hybrid ANC auto-filters are good while the app default is to have the Wind environments turned off (possibly to save battery ) which I feel would be the best turned off as a regularly walking making calls and listening to a variety of music. (With this function turned off – wind distortion on calls is very annoying for the other end of the call. Picking up unwanted noise)

In conclusion, the Jabra Elite 8 Active Gen 2 is an excellent choice for those seeking durable, high-performance earbuds for their workouts and active lifestyles. The addition of the smart case and impressive battery life make them a top contender in the market.

Tech Review – emporia ME6 smartphone

The emporia ME6 smartphone is one with two faces you could say with more thrown in for those who want to keep things simple and play it up with just the normal Android skin.

emporia is known for their simple phones and with last year having their first full fledged smartphone so to speak the SMART 6 but still keeping it easy with this one you can pick which way you want to go and gear up for the full experience when confident enough too even the convoluted sub menus Android has to offer.

It is like any other smartphone when it comes to the specs for their price point which in this instance is very good after testing out and seeing it at launch so I will not bore you to tears with specs etc that are listed below and a detailed video walkthrough so you can see what you are getting into.

The build quality is excellent here in my view and looks more premium than one would expect with nice soft edges that do not dig into your palm and a nice camera array set-up on the rear and prying eyes will be asking questions especially with the red circled heart icon on the rear which we are custom to with emporia devices and that is the panic button that can be remapped to take photos if you wish you can also use it for a torch silent mode or have it do nothing. The camera set-up is just nice anyway and not a huge hump we tend to see to much of today and is annoying now.

You now have an information center on board too which keeps all in one place similarly to your standard phone today but kept simple however this is only on simple mode. There is talkback mode which reads all actions done on device which is really handy. You can see more in the video below on how to switch between modes and it is simple and a key feature thanks to that little man in the corner that I labelled.

Ok so daily tasks then, this phone performs rather well not that the target market would have the phone loaded to the hilt like me but I loaded it and it done as any other phone has done so there is plenty of power under the hood should you happen to have a lot going on like me which is OTT for most daily users.

The screen is vibrant by the way and excellent for media consumption and you have biometric options with face or fingerprint unlock which both worked well you also have audio description to let you know what is going on in supported movies and shows.

Multitasking is fine doing your social and emails is fine and any other taxing applications you might have on the go.

The camera is decent too even with low light shots it is not the best in the world of what you would expect from a 1000 euro plus phone It did a decent job with excellent audio on recording too again you can decide with the samples below.

If you like music well this phone has a trick up its sleeve too and the audio experince is excellent and helped me out alot when testing other product the last few weeks it also has a super voice input option for recording text and ASHA support which means you can stream audio directly into the hearing aids via LE bluetooth.

Overall this is a decent mid range phone for someone who wants that bit more but there is much more under the skin here packed with features for those with some difficulties and certainly something they need in their life.

Key use case scenarios

1) The user makes the decision: clear, easy user interface or conventional Android mode.  The emporiaME.6 starts up in the familiar Android mode by default. The mobile phone can be switched to the clear, reduced easy mode with just two presses. Or straight back again. It is a conscious decision that YOU make.

2) The Info Centre, which is only available in simple mode.  This is where all notifications come together in one place. Whether it’s a missed call, new email, WhatsApp message or a notification from Facebook Messenger, you can keep an eye on everything here.

3) The external, directly accessible panic button. Press firmly once and help is automatically called. Good to know if you’re walking home alone at night, for example. Or if you are planning a lonely mountain tour. 360 hours (15 days!) of standby time should be enough even in this case.

Normal and easy modes on the emporia ME6

Features

  • 5G smartphone, 6.58-inch touchscreen
  • Physical panic button with 999 / Quick-key
  • Triple-lens 50+2+TOF-MP back camera
  • 8 MP selfie camera
  • Fingerprint sensor for biometric identification
  • NFC for contactless payments

Tech Review – Google Pixel 8a

Having used the Google Pixel 8a some time now it is time to talk about how it has been for me over the last few months and as expected with Google devices they get better over time not that there was anything wrong to start with.

First up the design is nice and sits well in the hand and better than the 8 Pro I have come to prefer the smaller device however now for consuming media which is still fine on the 8a, the look and feel i better here and not hefty with soft edges not digging into your hands I like the smaller hump the key placement and the front of the device which has an equal bezels all the way around however on the large side.

This Google Pixel 8a has an aluminium chassis with a nice matte finish on the rear leaving no fingerprints on the back of the phone however we have had plenty of cases and skins to keep the phone in top shape.

Performance has been great over the last few months and  being a power user has not let me down at all and I do put my phones to the test with the amount of apps and work tasks performed on a daily basis and it is not by any means light compared to a casual user of such a phone and with the Tensor G3 you will not see any lag in your daily tasks if like me it just flies along. Biometrics are on board again and work well.

When it comes to the camera it is dam good as expected and a joy to use and till one of the top contenders for a point and shoot phone and with all the AI features thrown in the Pixel 8a is not just a camera or a phone it is a tool for work in my opinion. There is photo unblur, portrait blur, Best take, circle to search magic eraser, magic audio eraser, live translate, pixel recorder app and at a glance and much more to take your pic from and of course Google lens and all of which I use daily. There is no thermometer here this time which I found handy at home..

The display is decent too being 6.1” OLED display FHD+ 2400×1080 and 20:9 aspect ratio with an Actua display making it fine to use in daylight and you can tune the display up to 120Hz which for most will not notice this and it automatically done but it is nice to have on the 8a this time round.

Overall the Pixel 8a does not disappoint and surely will not at this stage and as always I will still carry a Pixel device as a daily driver all year round as they just work for me and suit my work flow and so fluid to use for anything I throw at it. Plus I am invested in a house full of Google products that now are outdated so Google need to give us new cameras and Doorbells soon.
