Tech Review – Poetic cases for the Google Pixel 5

Poetic cases is a well known case maker overseas but we have been using them over the years and they have sent us the latest cases for the iPhone 13 Pro and the Google Pixel 5 and today we look at the latter, the pixel 5 might be considered old now however it is still a phone I use on a daily basis and very current and will remain so for some time yet given the Pixel 6 series is launching soon.

We look at two cases for the phone today and watch out for a bigger range for the iPhone 13 Pro in our mega case line up series. We have the poetic Guardian and Revolution cases for the Pixel 5 and these are really cool cases which will certainly protect your phone from harms way and they both come with optional screen protection built in or you can go without which is nice ans something you do not see with other case makers.

Tech Review – MNML case for the Google Pixel 5. #MNML #Pixel5 #Tech

Need a simple case for your Pixel 5 that is totally clean and simple well the MNML case might be one to check out, Without adding any thickness like other cases this is super thin and offers protection on the sides and rear and of course the camera hump gets some loving here too. They do not protect the screen but again they are designed for those who want something simple and not bulky, they are not a fingerprint magnet and cut-outs are perfect and nothing is obstructed. These cases are also not fingerprint magnets either like some cases can be and certainly phones and thankfully the pixel 5 is not a fingerprint magnet in the colour we have.

These cases are simply just minimal as the the brand name suggests and that they are they do not offer the ultimate protection for your device but give it a clean look and if like me and not out to much lately an ideal case for keeping it simple and looking good with no bulk and access to everything as you would expect.. Check out the range of cases on offer and our past reviews here on techbuzzireland and their site..

Tech Review – The Google Pixel 5. #Pixel5 #MadeByGoogle #Tech

I have been using Pixel devices since year one and they tend be devices I hold onto longer than any other smartphone due to their great clean software experience and camera, Over the years thought they have got expensive and followed the Apple and Samsung trends of  €1000 plus phones and this did not work out too well for them and with the Pixel 4 XL  the battery and price was its demise but they have turned this around completely with the 4a and now their latest flagship the Pixel 5.

I moved directly from the Pixel 4a to the 5 alongside some other devices I am testing but my main sim always remains in the Pixel phone once the testing is done most of the time I carry two phones and have the iPhone 12 ordered and they will be my two main devices bar the test units we have here now and what is coming and I will most likely swap the sim in the iPhone as I am so use to using the best android experience with Pixel phones. This time around they have added more to the already great pixel 4a which I have used since it launched and thrown everything at it and still works a treat today and when the 5 arrived I was excited to see what was new and how the device performed over the 4a and overall it is a win and the question people ask most is it worth moving up from a device only released a few months ago and the answer is yes.

You have a better build quality to begin with ( aluminium)  and that finish is really nice too and of course the colour, Under the hood is also better with the 765G chipset 128GB of storage which is handy and expected at the price, 8GB of RAM a 4080 mAh battery which is lasting me a day with heavy use, The rear camera is 12.2-megapixel  (f/1.7) + 16-megapixel (f/2.2) ultrawide and the front facing camera is 8MP f/2.0 whilst we have no face unlock which by the way is convenience we have a finger print sensor on the back which is perfectly placed and works all the time, also 18W fastcharge , wireless charging and reverse wireless charging.

Throwing my usual daily tasks at this phone where no problem at all and it flew at anything thrown at it from multitasking to some gaming whilst testing products, of course the camera is the order of the day here for the Pixel 5 which never fails to impress and it is a simple point and shoot device with great results guaranteed almost every time check out the samples below in the video and overall I was impressed just as I was with the cheaper Pixel 4a , the device being small like the 4a did not bother me as I am custom to using bigger devices but since using the 4a smaller devices do not bother me so much and it is better than having a weighty chunk in your pocket.

In regards the camera there still seems to be a race as to whom can pack the biggest hump on the rear and the most lenses which is getting a bit lame now and you can only use one lens at a time and Google has done both here in a nice subtle way and still delivers with LESS hump and lenses which for me proves a point many fail to include and with many options in both camera and video modes there is more than enough to get the job done.

The days of  €1000 plus phones are over with mobile phones and it reminds me today of yesteryear when phones cost a lot of money and was nothing but a status symbol and we have reached this era again with the cost to performance ratio coming down some time now on mobiles there is plenty on offer that does the same thing for half the price and the Pixel 5 sits right in the middle and is a nicely packed clean device that puts it up to the competition, it seems like Google have ditched the bigger device for good now but with prices and parts coming down I would like to see a slightly bigger device next time around but for now it is one of if not the best  Android experiences you can buy now for the money and a phone that works on any task effortlessly.

Tech Review – Speck Presidio Exotech case for the Google Pixel 5 #Speck #Pixel5

If you are looking for a good case for your Pixel, the Presidio Exotech with grips is one to look at offering the ultimate protection for your device, this case offers the best grip with ridges on the sides and rear of the case and has a decent lip around the front of the device too which means you can place it face down, also the lens gets protected here and there is antimicrobial treatment built in to the case that delivers a 99% reduction in stain and odor-causing bacteria on the case, creating a cleaner surface.

This case is a soft touch with a matte finished which is different to the iPhone 12 range we covered recently and it feels good to hold in the hand too and giving you assurance your device will be protected if dropped, check out the video and image gallery below for the full review.

Unboxing, walkthrough first impressions – The Google Pixel 5 5G in Sorta Sage #Pixel5 #SortaSage

The all new Google Pixel 5 has just landed and it is offering many more features than the 4a as expected with extras like wireless charging and reverse wireless charging which is certainly welcome in my book, the build quality also has improved here but the overall form factor remains the same and it feels really good in the hand and to top it off we also have the original Pixel 5 case to go with it adding extra grip and of course more protection for your device. I have been using this for the last few days but this is just a first impressions and walkthrough of the device and so far I am impressed and the camera yet again delivers exceptional results along with all the new features. If you have any questions feel free to ask in the usual places.. We will have a long term review soon as you cant review a device in a few days properly but check out the unboxing, images and videos so far below.. Google announces the Pixel 4a 5G Pixel 5 New Chromecast and Nest Audio. #LaunchNiteIn #Google

Google this evening streamed their latest event which was fast and to the point dropping some more tech goodness to the fore including new handsets which might look familiar on the outside but have changed under the hood. Also dropped was their new Nest Audio which is a larger version of their previous iterations and an all new Chromecast with Google TV so there is something for everyone here and if you have bought into the Google Eco System you will find something here of value.

Pixel 4a 5g and Pixel 5

These are their new devices which both sport 5G. The 4a has been well received and has been my daily driver since it launched, The 4a 5G comes with more power with a 3800mAh battery and ultra wide lens and an edge to edge OLED 6.24 inch display, the wide lens was one thing many people where giving out about with the 4a and now this has been addressed, You also get a 12.2MP rear camera and an 8MP front facing camera but we get no wireless charging here. The device will cost €490.89 and is now available to pre-order

The Pixel 5 is the one that has my interest though, A metal unibody, 6 inch FHD OLDED display more RAM same camera set-up and chipset the 765G this has wireless charging and reverse wireless charging which is really cool so you can charge your Pixel Buds on the go with the 4000 mAh powerpack inside the Pixel 5 and this comes in two colours unlike the 4a which is Just Black you get the option to buy Sorta Sage here which would be my preference of the two. You can pre- order this now for €618.71

To top things off if you order either device you get a free pair of BOSE headphones but this is a limited offer so you will need to be quick, again these devices are on the small side and there is no XL variant this year but I and typically use to using the bigger device but have been using the 4a now some time and have found it fine bar typing sometimes so the trade off is not bad having a less bulky device in your pocket. There is also cases now available to order too for both devices and as always I advise you pick one up..

Google Nest Audio

If you are a fan of their smart speakers this one is something to check out offering 50% more Bass which for me is a win and any Bass fan and even louder claiming 75% more volume plus it has a bigger footprint over the Nest Mini and that cloth like finish this allows more tech to be packed inside giving the user an enhanced experience. This is also now available to pre-order for just €99 and is aimed at music fans and of course you can connect to pre existing google homes in your house or better again get two of these for some real oomph in your home. Read more on their blog HERE

Google TV and Chromecast

A new look and style and updated this is ideal for the home or those on the go, I do bring my existing chromecast with me when travelling and it is a must have you have 400k plus titles to pick from and a Google Assistant built into the remote to do more things in the home as well as search what is on, This is also now available on the waiting list for just €69.99 You can see more on the blog HERE
