iClever Kid’s Bluetooth Air Conduction Headphones OWS01 review

The iClever Kid’s Bluetooth Air Conduction Headphones OWS01 are their latest product on offer for kids who like to music knowing their little ears will be kept safe.

Now being kids headphones I am keeping it as a kids product to review and it has to be said the audio is great on these with no lag latency or tinny sound from them maxed out which is of course limited.

They are light but robust and will last and I like the two tone colour here on offer there is three buttons in all here two for volume controls and skipping and reversing tracks.

There is a MFB which will play and pause manage calls and allow you access to your chosen  voice assistant which is also handy given the kids will never use it, but then again.

The fit is nice and these can be worn for hours the 14.2mm drivers pack a decent punch here and your kids will be kept entertained and not only that they will be able to hear their surroundings too which is a very important factor to consider.

Tech Review – iClever BTH20 kids wireless headphones with ANC

The iClever BTH20 kids wireless headphones are one of their new offerings for kids headphones which ads nicely to their line-up of products to keep your kids ears safe rather than handing them your phone or tablet and letting them listen away at higher volumes than they should.

These are very light and comfortable to wear too and even for me and I would wear them no problem, they can be worn for long periods of time and do not sweat the ears you can of course extend the arms each size for a comfortable fit.

The controls are simple to use and there is plenty here, you can play/pause skip/reverse tracks control the volume and take calls if they arrive, there is also an ANC control button on the cup to which is handy and works well.

The sound is good considering these are for kids and no issues there from me with good highs lows and mids and some bass, being a kids pair of headphones they sound good it has to be said with no tinny sound noted on any genre tested or at max volume.

Overall these are ideal for kids keeping their ears in check which I must take note of myself as I like to go full blast on all my headphones and earbuds and perhaps these might teach me a lesson to save the ears in the long run, these are comfortable look well and robust and perfect to keep your kids entertained when on a tablet or phone etc.

  • [Excellent Noise Reduction Performance]:These Kids Bluetooth Headphones feature two noise reduction modes with a maximum depth of 40dB (active + passive). The low noise reduction mode offers a gentler ear pressure for kids sensitive to ear pressure, while the high one blocks out most engines and other mechanical noises for an immersive auditory experience.
  • [Strong Durability]:These Kids Noise Cancelling Headphones are crafted from enhanced materials that are free of BPA and PVC, offers over twice the wear resistance, impact resistance, and lifespan of traditional materials and defies drops and bends. Plus, the new reinforced internal structure makes the button last longer and eliminates the issue of sound loss on one side.
  • [Comfortable to Wear]:Coming with a pressure-reducing, skin-like texture, these Noise Cancelling Headphones for Kids ensure comfy wear during airplane travel or road trip. Honored with FDA awards, the 90° rotatable earmuffs and 10-level adjustable headband give a perfect fit for kids aged 3 and up while large buttons make operation easy for kids.
  • [Safer Listening]:Employing the iClever Sound Refiner & 80dBA volume limit technology, these Noise Cancelling Headphones for Kids effectively reduce the volume in the most vulnerable hearing frequency range (2-4KHz) while delivers clearer and more balanced sound quality.
  • [Long-Lasting Battery Life]:These Bluetooth 5.4 Kids Bluetooth Headphones offer a more stable connection and less power consumption, providing non-stop fun (60 hours with ANC off; 35 hours with ANC on). Better yet, a quick 10-minute Type C fast charge provides 5 hours of use and the included 3.5mm audio cable means no more battery anxiety.

Tech Review – iClever BTH22 Kids Bluetooth Headphones

The iClever BTH22 Kids Bluetooth Headphones are one of several pairs of headphones aimed at kids from the brand keeping your kids ears safe and sound.

The headphones are robust and do not creak when bent which gives you peace of mind when it comes to being tough especially the way kids can thrown them about they will be also easy to keep clean and wipe with a damp cloth, there is a durable comfortable leather headband and the cups are the same giving a nice soft feeling on the ears and head, they also block out some elements of the outside world which is good. There is adjustable extensions either side and the cups twist and turn to ensure a secure fit without having that clamp effect on head.

There is no app with these so it is simple to connect to your phone or tablet and job is done, there is several control at hand here and the buttons are raised perfectly for kids to do what needs doing, there is also your 3.5 mm cable included should you run out of battery and the battery life is decent too.

The controls are simple to use and a safety features built in which changes the max volume from 74db to 85 to do this you press both the volume keys once and you will hear a voice prompt.

To skip or reverse tracks you press and hold either volume key and to higher and lower the volume you tap either key once, the buttons are nice and clicky and work perfectly every time.

The sound is not cheap or shabby here either with a nice bassy side to it there is no lag latency or tinny sound when maxed out and overall they deliver a better than expected audio experience which I was surprised with so your child will be listening to music in style and getting a decent audio experince overall.

There are several variants and style on offer in the link below and check out the video review for more.

Features

  • [Safe Volume Protection]: These kids wireless headphones adopt iClever Sound Refiner technology, effectively limiting the sound below 85 dBA and lowering the volume of high frequencies (2-4 KHz) that are prone to cause hearing damage. Plus, you can choose the 74 dBA volume by pressing the “+” and “-” together for added protection.
  • [Enhanced Durability]: Crafted from improved ABS materials without BPA and PVC, these kids headphones wireless are 50% stronger than regular ones, making them incredibly resistant to rough drops and bends. Plus, the enhanced button structure impressively doubles the times of button presses – feel free to operate as want.
  • [Extended Battery Life]: Thanks to the excellent chip architecture of Bluetooth 5.4, these kids Bluetooth headphones feature a 60-hour battery life – way enough to last half a month if used 4 hours a day! Out of juice? No problem! Just plug in the 3.5mm audio cable to keep the music on, banishing battery anxiety during trips.

Better yet, the Bluetooth connectivity offers seamless pairing with a variety of devices, like smartphones and tablets.

Tech Review – Skullcandy GROM Wireless headphones for kids

The Skullcandy GROM Wireless headphones for kids are a new range of headphones that also come in a wired version for kids that want the best in audio and simplicity to use with no fuss and these super lightweight headphones do all this and keep it simple. They are very comfortable to wear too by the way and no clamping effect like some headphones suffer with.

The presentation is as we expect from Skullcandy and that is one that will stand out and kept simple too and the same for inside the box with some leaflets cables and we also get some stickers now which is nice and destined for my new laptop.

The headphones could not be easier to use with all the controls on one side and you can tap the cup to make some commands which is super simple and means no buttons for kids to be fooling around with, I like this idea and we have seen gesture controlled headphones before but this idea work just as well. You also have a port to share your audio with someone else too which is neat.

All the controls are on one side of which allows you to pair up, use your voice assistant skip and reverse tracks and volume control you can also control your calls here too. With the volume wheel you can override the volume and you need to give a slightly more hard push to move it along and get to the max volume which is decent and of course safe protecting kids ears.

There is no app here again kept simple and they just connect via Bluetooth and job done if you run out of juice you can still use the traditional route of the 3.5mm cable provided in the box.

When it comes to sound well they are for kids and I have to take into consideration my thoughts and the thoughts of others and being honest it is perfectly fine and with the Skullcandy signature sound kids will not be disappointed and the music is crisp and clear with no distortion or lag latency noted during my testing, highs lows and mids all fine too and any genre of music will sound great and for all the family and relations kids that tested them where happy.

Helping children & young people reflect, recognise and reset- Safer Internet Day Turns 21

Celebrated in more than 180 countries worldwide, today, February 6th marks the 21st anniversary of Safer Internet Day, which has become a landmark global event in the online safety calendar. The theme for Safer Internet Day 2024 is ‘Tech in our World’ and through a series of events taking place involving 200,000 children and young people from schools and organisations across Ireland, will explore the role of digital technology in young people’s lives, their views on new and emerging technology and the changes they would like to see enacted online.
Safer Internet Day 2024 kicks off today with an event hosted in Microsoft’s Dream Space and will feature contributions from the Webwise Youth Advisory Panel; Niamh Hodnett, Online Safety Commissioner; Kieran McCorry, National Technology Officer, Microsoft, and Dr Emma Murphy, School of Computer Science – TU Dublin.  The session will also include interactive stakeholders’ discussions that will explore some of the opportunities and challenges as they relate to the role of the internet and digital technology in young people’s lives.

Webwise Youth Panellist Billie Constantinou, 19, said:‘We live in a world where internet technology is constantly evolving, one where we wake up with new AI capabilities, new apps and new trends every single day. To discuss tech in our world, we must understand that the future is uncertain and being able to adapt in tandem with this advancing online technology is a key skill in ensuring our safety in this every changing world.’

The themes that will be explored at today’s event will encourage schools, children, teens and parents to:

  • Reflect: an opportunity to reflect on tech in their world, the challenges, opportunities and big changes.
  • Recognise: give learners an understanding of the influence of digital technology in their daily life, exploring the concept of persuasive design and the influence of algorithms.
  • Reset: learn tips to help reset online experiences and empower young people to make the most of their online world.

Niamh Hodnett, Online Safety Commissioner said: “I am delighted to celebrate my first Safer Internet Day as Online Safety Commissioner by taking part in Webwise’s ‘Tech in our World’ session. Safer Internet Day is a great chance for me to hear the views of young people on the role technology plays in their lives. It is also an opportunity to highlight the work of Coimisiún na Meán including preparing our first Online Safety Code, as part of our overall online safety framework. I would especially like to commend the essential work of the Irish Safer Internet Centre in supporting parents, children and teachers in navigating the online world in a safe and responsible way through the work of Webwise, the ISPCC, the National Parents Council and Hotline.ie.”

Minister for Education Norma Foley T.D. said:“Safer Internet Day is a day in which we focus on promoting the safer use of the internet by children.

We acknowledge the great work of our schools. We salute too the work of Webwise and the Oide Support Service for Teachers, who provide additional resources and training to schools and webinars for parents to support them in keeping their children safe on the internet.

“Of course, we’re also very keen that parents would continue to engage with the guidelines that have been presented around the use of smartphones for young people in primary schools.”

Safer Internet Day in Ireland is coordinated by the Irish Safer Internet Centre, a partnership between Webwise, ISPCC, National Parents Council and Hotline.ie, providing a range of complementary online safety services, including an education and awareness centre, child and parent helplines and a hotline. The Centre is coordinated by the Department of Justice and co-funded by the European Union.

Irish Safer Internet Centre

The Irish Safer Internet Centre is a partnership of four leading organisations – Webwise, Hotline.ie, ISPCC and National Parents Council, with a mission to make the Internet a better place for children and young people, under the coordination of the Department of Justice – Cybercrime Division. The Irish Safer Internet Centre partner organisations work towards a shared mission of making the internet a safer and more inclusive place for children and young people.

Webwise is the online safety initiative of the Department of Education and co-funded by the European Commission. Webwise promotes safer, better internet use through awareness raising and education initiatives targeting teachers, children, young people and parents. Webwise develops and disseminates resources that help teachers integrate digital citizenship and online safety into teaching and learning in their schools. Webwise also provides information, advice, and tools to parents to support their engagement in their children’s online lives. Webwise is part of Oide, a new support service for teachers and school leaders, funded from the Department of Education.
Hotline.ie is Ireland’s primary national channel for members of the public to anonymously and confidentially report suspected illegal content online, such as child sexual abuse material, technology facilitated child sexual exploitation – child grooming, non-consensual sharing of intimate images and videos (also known as intimate image abuse), racism and xenophobia, and financial scams. Further information can be found here.
ISPCC operates the Childline Listening Service, Ireland’s only 24-hour active listening service for children and young people. The service is here to listen to children, to support and empower them and to help to strengthen their resilience so they can cope with any challenges they face. Any child or young person can contact Childline for free and in confidence, at any time, to talk about any issue on their mind. The service can be reached online at Childline.ie or calling 1800 66 66 66. Parents/caregivers can check out the Digital Ready Hub to upskill their knowledge on the digital environment.

National Parents Council (NPC) provides a dedicated helpline to support parents and carers in dealing with issues relating to online safety, including cyberbullying. The National Parents Council also provides parents with training courses, both online and face-to-face. Further information about the National Parents Council Helpline can be found here.

Revolut teams up with RTÉ’s Toy Show Appeal for the third year in a row

Revolut, the global financial app with more than 2.5 million customers in Ireland, has teamed up with RTÉ’s Toy Show Appeal for the third year to enable viewers to donate instantly from their Revolut app. Last year, through the goodwill of the people in Ireland, the appeal raised €4 million for The Community Foundation Ireland, helping children and family members across the island.

In 2022, The Late Late Toy Show was RTÉ’s most-watched TV programme, with 1.6 million viewers. It was viewed in 139 countries around the world – including  Bolivia, Jamaica, Qatar, and Ukraine.

The partnership with Revolut began in 2021 when the extraordinary generosity of people in Ireland rushing to support the appeal led to technical difficulties with the Revolut app. After fixing them, Revolut co-founder Vlad Yatsenko announced he had made a €100,000 personal donation to the appeal: and he pledged to personally match any further donations made over the weekend via the Revolut app – up to €1m. Led by appeals from stars including Olympic champion Kellie Harrington, the Irish public donated a further €750,000: Vlad then gave the full €1m, taking the overall total raised via Revolut to €3.3m.

However, Revolut successfully fortified its Donations system last year, and encouraged the people of Ireland to continue their generosity to support the incredible work by Community Foundation Ireland, helping children who need it.

On Friday 24th November 2023, The Late Late Toy Show is back. This year, as Revolut has teamed up with the appeal again to welcome proceeds through Donations in the Revolut app which will go live on the night.

Vlad Yatsenko, Revolut co-founder, said, “We’re deeply honoured to once again support Ireland’s single biggest fundraising event for children: RTÉ’s Toy Show Appeal. More than 2.5 million people in Ireland now have a Revolut account, so we’re delighted to enable customers to donate to the appeal instantly from their Revolut app.”

“At Revolut, we have seen first-hand the power of digital donations as they have become an increasingly important tool for charities to raise funds and support their causes. As with all our charity appeals, we guarantee that every cent donated will go to the charity – with no fees or charges.”
