So there I was at home eating my dinner today and my phones go off with a message and it was from Just Eat and I am like WTF is this I did not order food and why would I when sitting down at my table and nobody has access to my account.. Then the next obvious thing is that came to mind.. Scam.. Nope! Next of all my partner gets the email and I started laughing and said OK they must be hacked and then my DMs on social media had several messages about the same thing and I began to wonder..
So here is the story lads it is not a scam they have not been hacked and all is fine according to Just Eat Ireland but then I had a look on social media and people in the UK are now having the same issue. So what it is after checking is backlogged emails from your last orders and ours here was last Friday even though we already got the said emails but it still looks fishy..
So I checked my partners orders and asked others to do the same whilst I got in touch with the company here in Ireland and here is what they told me. So hopefully this will be fixed soon and all is OK and not a scam for once. We hope that it is just a bug. So if you do get the email check your last order and the order number and so on should tally up. Let us know if you got the email.
Unfortunately, we have had a little bit of an issue with our emails which has caused some emails to get caught up in a backlog. Thankfully our tech team have been able to resolve the problem we’ve had and the emails that have been backed up have all been sent out at once, I do apologise if this has caused worry or confusion to you. Hopefully, that’s the last we’ll see of that bug, but I’d like to thank you for bringing this to our attention. If there’s anything else we can help with, please don’t hesitate to drop us another DM, and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible. Otherwise, thanks for reaching out and I hope you have a wonderful evening! – Mark
The Coca-Cola Football Manager 2021 Copa Challenge kicks off on October 1st with leading gamers, Just Eat to offer weekly discounts & giveaways to reward viewers
With an increased focus on expanding its ecommerce and digital footprint, Coca-Cola is pleased to announce its first competitive gaming tournament The Coca-Cola Copa Challenge, which will see gaming influencers compete against one another at the prominent Football Manager 2021 title.
Fuelled by the lockdown environment, gaming in Ireland is experiencing exponential growth, both in revenue and viewership, and is set for further acceleration in the coming years. Today, 2.7 million people make up the gaming community in Ireland.
Managed by a world-leading gaming company Gfinity, this esports partnership is the first of its kind for a leading drinks brand in Ireland and will see Coca-Cola engage gamers in new and exciting ways, with a focus on sponsorships, collaboration, and experiential moments.
From October 1st, leading gaming influencers will broadcast their Football Manager 2021 fantasy draft tournament series to entertain this captive audience. Hosted by Richie Sheridan and Chris Tunn, participants will include FIFA esports commentator and host Brandon Smith, TikTok stars Ryan Mar and Kyle Kehoe, and eSports influencers Conran Tobin and Paddy Murphy, to name but a few!
The tournament will span four weeks, with each of the influencers broadcasting their player selections on Fridays and games each Saturday, on Twitch. Each player will have an 18-man squad with each game lasting 90 mins with penalties deciding any draws. Players will accumulate points throughout the four weeks, with the Coca-Cola Copa Challenge Champion crowned in the finale.
The event will offer opportunities for engagement and entertainment for the viewership. A Coca-Cola microsite will host weekly challenges for the audience to vote on, along with the leaderboard and other tournament updates.
A partnership with Just Eat will also be key feature across the tournament, offering exclusive weekly discounts and giveaways for viewers at home who tune in to the action.
In addition to promotions across the microsite and Just Eat’s landing page, Coca-Cola’s marketing activation will focus primarily on Twitch; with Moobots, clickable broadcast adverts, and ad hoardings throughout the game.
To drive continual engagement, there will be competitions and giveaways by the hosts, participating influencers and across Coca-Cola social media channels.
Influencers will also stream the action on their own preferred social media channel, extending the organic reach through Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.
Tom Greenlees, Head of Digital Media & Influencer Strategy at The Coca-Cola Company said, “At The Coca-Cola Company, we are always looking at new ways to connect with our with our audiences and to bring them together through new and exciting experiences. That’s why we are really excited to partner with GFinity to launch the Coca-Cola Copa Challenge.
“We have a great selection of talent taking part in what we hope will be an exciting experience for both competitors and the audience. Initiatives like this provide a great opportunity to innovate and I’m really excited to see what we, and our partners, can learn from this to deliver more immersive and rewarding experiences like this for our consumers in the future.”
Head of E-Commerce for Coca-Cola HBC Ireland and Northern Ireland, Annmarie Markey explains, “esports has become equally as powerful as sports, media, or music as a vehicle to communicate and engage with consumers – and in 2020 there were twice more people watching esports globally than Superbowl, NBA and NFL combined! With a gaming community of 2.7 million in Ireland, eSports offers exponential opportunities for growth for the Coca-Cola system and our portfolio.”
“We are therefore immensely proud to be the first leading drinks brand to launch an esports sponsorship in Ireland. To create a full experiential ‘in-home’ occasion, our partnership with Just Eat will also offer viewers the opportunity to snap up their favourite dishes and Coca Cola drinks from local restaurants, with weekly promotions and gift card giveaways.”
Senior Marketing Lead for Just Eat Ireland, John Carey said, “Just Eat is a technology business, so we’re always looking at new ways to innovate our approach and transform how we talk to our customers. The esports industry in Ireland is estimated to be growing by 5% per year and we are keen to ensure that they choose the leading food delivery platform in Ireland when they are looking to refuel.”
“We’re delighted to deliver value to entertainment fans taking part in this year’s Coca-Cola Copa Challenge, connecting esports enthusiasts and casual gamers alike with a diverse range of over 3,300 restaurants now available for delivery on Just Eat.”
Just Eat has announced that it is recruiting 700 additional couriers as the country enters a period of Level 5 restrictions. The new couriers will support the anticipated growth in online ordering in the period ahead, enabling restaurant owners across the country to deliver their food to more people, in more areas. The demand for couriers of late is on another level with thousands of jobs with the festive season approaching and big logistics firms already looking for hundreds of staff.
The investment in couriers is one of a package of measures developed to support the distressed restaurant sector and to help bring more food to more people throughout the country. Just Eat has also announced that this growing fleet will service expanded delivery areas in some key urban locations where independent restaurants have been most impacted by the latest set of restrictions. In addition, all restaurants that sign up to the platform in the next 2 weeks will enjoy a period of waived commission for their first 30 days on the platform.
The investments announced today build on a series of supports worth €1 million delivered in immediate response to the health crisis over the summer months. The focus by Just Eat has been on helping the traditional, local independent restaurant that wouldn’t previously have offered a delivery service to get online. While not replacing their traditional business model and sit-in offering, it does allow them to stay connected to customers and maintains some proportion of revenue during the period of forced closure.
Focused on reducing costs for those most at risk within the sector, Just Eat continues to help its new and existing restaurant partner base to trade efficiently during these difficult times with real-time business intelligence data providing valuable insights on menu offerings, opening times and geographic range.
Commenting on the announcement Amanda Roche-Kelly, Just Eat Ireland Managing Director said; “2020 has been an incredibly challenging year for everyone, but few have been hit harder than our partners in the restaurant sector, with these latest restrictions bringing huge uncertainty and worry for so many local independent business owners right across Ireland. As the market leader in the food delivery sector, we are committed to supporting our partners in the sector through the crisis which is why we are launching this additional package of support measures.
“For those restaurants who haven’t previously offered a delivery option, or are new to the Just Eat platform, we’re delighted to be in a position to help them get online and remain trading while their sit-in or outdoor dining options remain closed. Through our investment in the recruitment of drivers we’re both expanding our delivery within those key urban areas most impacted, but also our capacity to service the growing demand from our customers – helping our restaurant partners to deliver their much loved food to more and more people during these hugely difficult times.”
Commenting specifically on the plan to recruit 700 couriers Ms Roche-Kelly said: “We are delighted to be in a position to build our courier network at a time when many people have had to temporarily or permanently leave their jobs. We anticipate increased demand during the lockdown period and want to ramp up in order to ensure that we capture all those orders on behalf of our restaurant partners. With the additional fleet we can service more restaurants in more areas – reaching more hungry consumers.
“Anyone who is keen to join the Just Eat courier network as an independent contractor is encouraged to apply at https://couriers.just-eat.ie/application. We look forward to hearing from them.”
Effective immediately, Just Eat has also committed to an extension of the 14-day Courier Relief Payment for those who may become ill or need to self-isolate as a result of the virus. Equivalent to two-thirds of a courier’s average weekly earnings from the past 6 weeks, this Courier Relief Payment can be claimed weekly in addition to the COVID-19 illness benefit made available by the government for workers unable to make a living as a result of the virus.
Just Eat’s highest priority throughout this crisis is to protect the couriers it works with, its customers and restaurant partners. To date, Just Eat Takeaway.com has spent more than €30 million in support for restaurants worldwide and approximately €6 million in support for healthcare workers. The company will continue to explore introducing further support measures in the future, ensuring that its delivery courier network remains open and fully operational.
