This incorporates the VoLTE and M4/T4 hearing aid compatibility which is ideal for the hard of hearing requirements. This solid material weighs  115 g and is 4G LTE

The kit came with a USB C charging cable and stand and a set of USB C earphones, ( The quality of the earphones would be debatable )

Features:

  •         Big Button to use the flip phone

Connectivity and Accessibility

 Battery and Charging

The Emporia JOY-LTE V228 offers impressive battery life, with a standby time of 168 hours (7 days) and a talk time of 390 minutes (6.5 hours). The inclusion of a charging stand is a thoughtful addition, making it convenient for users to keep their devices powered up.

Comparison between emporia JOY-LTE   & emporiaTALKglam

Compared to the previously reviewed Emporia TALKglam, the JOY-LTE V228 boasts several upgrades. The larger 2.8-inch internal display, and the addition of a 2-megapixel camera, (albeit a reduced standby battery life ) make this model a more feature-rich offering for the target audience.

Company and Warranty

emporia, the manufacturer of the JOY-LTE V228, has a long-standing reputation in the development of user-friendly mobile devices, with a focus on the older generation. The company’s headquarters are located in Austria, and it sells its products in the UK, Ireland, and throughout the European Union.

The warranty provided with the JOY-LTE V228 includes 1 year for the handset and 6-month battery warranty which is disappointing in their ranges.  The presence of a local UK and Ireland support number remains a positive.

Conclusion

The emporia JOY-LTE V228 is a reliable and user-friendly flip phone that caters to the needs of the older generation and those seeking a simple, yet capable mobile device. With its large buttons, 4G LTE connectivity, quick/easy option for use of camera,/  torch via a side button, hearing aid compatibility, and impressive battery life, this phone offers a compelling package for its target audience. The JOY-LTE V228 is ideal for those in the market for a straightforward and accessible mobile solution with a nice touch including a charging stand.

The large, raised buttons provide excellent tactile feedback and are easy to press, a crucial consideration for the target audience. The 2.4-inch display, while modest by today’s standards, is clear and readable.

Specifications:

Functionality

Setting up the TALKglam is a straightforward process, though manually inputting the date and time may be required. The menu structure is intuitive, with quick access to essential functions like the camera and emergency call feature. While the camera resolution is low at 0.3MP, it can still capture basic images if needed.

The phone’s audio quality is commendable, with M4/T4 hearing aid compatibility for an enhanced listening experience. The impressive battery life, with up to 320 minutes of talk time and 200 hours of standby, ensures users can rely on the TALKglam for extended periods without the need for frequent charging.

Company and Warranty

The warranty provided with the TALKglam is a mixed bag, with 6 months of coverage for the battery and 1 year for the handset itself. While the shorter battery warranty is somewhat disappointing, the presence of a local UK and Ireland support number is a positive.

Conclusion

The Emporia TALKglam is a solid choice for those seeking a basic, easy-to-use flip phone. Its large buttons, clear audio, and emergency call functionality make it an attractive option for seniors or those who prefer to disconnect from the constant connectivity of modern smartphones. Tech Review – emporia 313 (FN313i)

With many folk now seeking time away from the constant notifications there is many options at hand to do so and recently one example was the Nokia 3210 we checked out, though that phone had some features at hand this one cuts it to the bone and is perhaps a better option to completely detach yourself from it all.

In the first of several phones from emporia we are taking a look at the emporia 313 today and will show you what it is on offer, now this phone does not have the bells and whistles you might think but it does have great battery life torch calendar calculator and a built in FM radio so that is plenty to keep your fingers moving should they get itchy.

The phone itself is well built with tactile keys and could take a good beating in my opinion and should last any festival or weekend away if you are clumsy

There is voice and text here and a VGA camera if you remember them and bluetooth connectivity and this device is a candybar shaped device that is slim and fits in any pocket with up to a weeks use and 4 hours talktime, this is ideal for taking away on holidays or festivals and even weekends away so you can leave the rest behind and check in when you get back.

With no apps or internet connectivity you can talk and text away to your hearts content and just enjoy the freedom and not having to get or receive messages from social or emails all day long. Unlike previous devices such as the emporia Smart 6 this is the opposite end of how you communicate and ideal for those who want to take a break from it all. There is also a Smart 4 on offer and emporia one which we checked out some years ago

Check out the video review below for more.

Tech Review – emporia ME6 smartphone

The emporia ME6 smartphone is one with two faces you could say with more thrown in for those who want to keep things simple and play it up with just the normal Android skin.

emporia is known for their simple phones and with last year having their first full fledged smartphone so to speak the SMART 6 but still keeping it easy with this one you can pick which way you want to go and gear up for the full experience when confident enough too even the convoluted sub menus Android has to offer.

It is like any other smartphone when it comes to the specs for their price point which in this instance is very good after testing out and seeing it at launch so I will not bore you to tears with specs etc that are listed below and a detailed video walkthrough so you can see what you are getting into.

The build quality is excellent here in my view and looks more premium than one would expect with nice soft edges that do not dig into your palm and a nice camera array set-up on the rear and prying eyes will be asking questions especially with the red circled heart icon on the rear which we are custom to with emporia devices and that is the panic button that can be remapped to take photos if you wish you can also use it for a torch silent mode or have it do nothing. The camera set-up is just nice anyway and not a huge hump we tend to see to much of today and is annoying now.

You now have an information center on board too which keeps all in one place similarly to your standard phone today but kept simple however this is only on simple mode. There is talkback mode which reads all actions done on device which is really handy. You can see more in the video below on how to switch between modes and it is simple and a key feature thanks to that little man in the corner that I labelled.

Ok so daily tasks then, this phone performs rather well not that the target market would have the phone loaded to the hilt like me but I loaded it and it done as any other phone has done so there is plenty of power under the hood should you happen to have a lot going on like me which is OTT for most daily users.

The screen is vibrant by the way and excellent for media consumption and you have biometric options with face or fingerprint unlock which both worked well you also have audio description to let you know what is going on in supported movies and shows.

Multitasking is fine doing your social and emails is fine and any other taxing applications you might have on the go.

The camera is decent too even with low light shots it is not the best in the world of what you would expect from a 1000 euro plus phone It did a decent job with excellent audio on recording too again you can decide with the samples below.

If you like music well this phone has a trick up its sleeve too and the audio experince is excellent and helped me out alot when testing other product the last few weeks it also has a super voice input option for recording text and ASHA support which means you can stream audio directly into the hearing aids via LE bluetooth.

Overall this is a decent mid range phone for someone who wants that bit more but there is much more under the skin here packed with features for those with some difficulties and certainly something they need in their life.

Key use case scenarios

1) The user makes the decision: clear, easy user interface or conventional Android mode.  The emporiaME.6 starts up in the familiar Android mode by default. The mobile phone can be switched to the clear, reduced easy mode with just two presses. Or straight back again. It is a conscious decision that YOU make.

2) The Info Centre, which is only available in simple mode.  This is where all notifications come together in one place. Whether it’s a missed call, new email, WhatsApp message or a notification from Facebook Messenger, you can keep an eye on everything here.

3) The external, directly accessible panic button. Press firmly once and help is automatically called. Good to know if you’re walking home alone at night, for example. Or if you are planning a lonely mountain tour. 360 hours (15 days!) of standby time should be enough even in this case.

emporia ME.6 smartphone first look and walkthrough

The emporiaME.6 is a top smartphone with the latest 5G technology, Android 13, triple main camera and Camera Pro, lightning-fast processor, NFC, fingerprint sensor, voice input, ASHA support (particularly good hearing quality even with a hearing aid), etc. This device follows on from the SMART.6 we reviewed last year.

And yet it stands out from the crowd in three respects:

1) The user makes the decision: clear, easy user interface or conventional Android mode.  The emporiaME.6 starts up in the familiar Android mode by default. The mobile phone can be switched to the clear, reduced easy mode with just two presses. Or straight back again. It is a conscious decision that YOU make.

2) The Info Centre, which is only available in simple mode.  This is where all notifications come together in one place. Whether it’s a missed call, new email, WhatsApp message or a notification from Facebook Messenger, you can keep an eye on everything here.

So much technology packed into just 209 grams, available for less than 300 euros and with a 2-year warranty? The European smartphone manufacturer emporia shows how it’s done.

We will be checking this phone out over the next few weeks so if you have any questions feel free to ask and stay tuned for more with our full review soon, check out the unboxing and walkthrough below and some image and video samples to date.

Tech Review – emporia SMART.6 user-friendly 5G smartphone

The emporia SMART.6 user-friendly 5G smartphone has been a daily driver for a bit now and compared to current smartphones this is a breeze to use without all the cumbersome sub menus you get today which can make it difficult for some especially those coming from dumb phones and feature phones which are a thing again for people detoxing from social media and more.

The emporia SMART.6 though does not look cheap nor feel cheap and it is their best built phone to date with a good weight to it too and at first glance when showing friends etc they asked what in the name of god is this one. So of course I explained what this phone is about and who it is for and let them play around with it and they could see the simplicity in using it without all the fuss and how easy it is to navigate through which was refreshing for them.

They liked the cover display and the 4 key button set up that lights up and I do too which is simply 4 shortcuts to access simple things like calls and camera and torch, you still have your big panel up top displaying other information in big clear numbers and letter just like you will find in the menus on the phone UI.

The camera array on the back is nicely set out too and not a cumbersome block you find on many of today’s phones and you have a heart labelled button there if you press and hold you can instantly call the emergency services which I accidently pressed on testing but can clarify it works.

You also have face unlock and fingerprint sensor on board here and these worked quite well however in darker environments the face unlock is less reliable but this can be the same on many traditional smartphones.

We have a decent camera and video performance too which for the target market of this device they will be happy with you can see the samples in the video review below, I did have to review this device with and older person in mind but did test other apps such as social media and emails as I tend to find now the older population using smart phones but would not use their full capabilities and would have some knowledge of how they work.

Technically, the emporia E6 plays in the same league as the Samsung A series or Apple refurbished. Latest 5G technology, top camera and Camera Pro, NFC, fingerprint sensor, voice input. The emporia E6 is a product that was created in collaboration directly with the target group. In countries such as the Federal Republic of Germany, Great Britain, Italy and France there were workshops in which the participants defined their demands and wishes for the smartphone of the future. The result: “A smartphone as it should be”.

Overall a solid phone that does more than one might think, and a huge upgrade to the emporia smart 4 having tested in two capacities it has worked well with no issues even doing some video editing on the device itself and for my social media it did not hang up shut down or anything like other smartphones have done especially with video editing apps on board, call quality is fine too and overall a simple phone to use without all the convoluted mess you find today on smartphones.
