Lotus has launched today its own electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions including an ultra-fast 450 kW DC charger, power cabinet and a modular unit for charging up to four vehicles at once.
Charging anxiety remains one of the main barriers to electric vehicle adoption, with nearly 80% of the public citing the lack of charging infrastructure as a primary reason for not buying an EV in a survey conducted by the Energy Policy Institute. With Lotus’ charging capabilities, the company is providing consumers with reliability and confidence wherever they are driving.
The new suite of EV charging solutions designed for businesses includes:
Liquid-Cooled All-in-One DC Charger: a new charger, which offers ultra-fast charging of up to 450 kW. For example, with the Lotus Eletre R, it can add up to 88.5 miles or 142 km of range with approximately 5 minutes of charge making it one of the most competitive electric vehicle chargers. A 10% to 80% charge can be achieved in just 20 minutes with a range extension of 74 miles or 120 kilometres from a 5-minute charge when using a 350 kW Rapid Charger.
Liquid-Cooled Power Cabinet: a modular power cabinet that is suited for spaces that require high energy in order to increase efficiency and minimise charging time, such as motorway rest stops. It offers market-leading power output capabilities of up to 480 kW.
Liquid-Cooled Charging Unit: a charging terminal, which when used with the Liquid-Cooled Power Cabinet, can charge up to four vehicles at once. The unit has a maximum current output of 600 Amp, which ensures it is able to meet the needs of all electric vehicle drivers. For instance, if they need a short top-up whilst on the go, or fast-charge for long distance drives, Lotus’ new offering provides them with a convenient solution.
Lotus is using liquid-cooled technologies throughout its suite of commercial charging solutions to make it easier and quicker for EV drivers to charge their vehicles.
Lotus’ fast-charging solutions have already been deployed in China and are expected to roll out across the majority of European countries and Middle East in Q2 2024. Further market availability will be announced in due course.
As charging infrastructure improves over time, Lotus is ensuring its customers are equipped by providing a 450 kW solution. Lotus has futureproofed its charging offering, which is expected to be the next step forward in fast charging when the infrastructure becomes readily available. Lotus customers will be able to easily upgrade to this power output without additional hardware costs once in-market service providers rollout grid upgrades.
Mike Johnstone, Chief Commercial Officer at Lotus Group, said: “Over the past six years, Lotus has been investing in the technology and infrastructure to accelerate the transition to electrification. We want to make it easier than ever to own an electric vehicle and with our latest offerings, Lotus is able to provide customers with the confidence to access easy, fast, and efficient charging.”
Alan Wang, Vice-President of Lotus Technology and CEO at Lotus Flash Charge, said: “As more governments are increasing investment into electrification in their journey to net-zero, the demand for a reliable electric vehicle charging infrastructure has never been higher than before. Lotus has developed best-in-class fast charging solutions to deliver a quick and reliable charging experience to meet customer needs.”
In 2018, Lotus announced its Vision80 strategy and plans to transform the brand from a British sports car maker to an all-electric global luxury technology brand by 2028. As part of this transition, the company is committed to developing its own range of EV charging solutions.
The company launched its first electric hyper-SUV Eletre in 2022, with customer deliveries across UK, Europe and China taking place this year. Lotus recently launched Emeya, its next-generation electric hyper-GT, in early September 2023.
Both vehicles integrate hardware, software, and cloud capabilities to deve op a full stack of intelligent driving technologies. They also include HD cameras, radar, and high-precision mapping capabilities to allow the vehicles to precisely perceive their environment in a stereoscopic display, providing a smooth drive even in extreme conditions. Lotus will continue to expand its range of premium electric vehicles, as the company looks to scale in this growing market.
Lotus has seen a huge demand for its products, with an orderbook of over 19,000 vehicles for its Emira sports car and Eletre hyper-SUV. The company has ramped up production this year, having had a record-breaking first half of 2023, and expects the full year to surpass all previous years.

Belfast based cyber security specialist ANGOKA says developers of the UK’s fast-growing network of electric vehicle charging points could be sleep-walking into a high-risk vulnerability to hacking and cyber-attacks.
Significant and rapid growth in the number of electric vehicle charging points is expected in the next three years. There are estimated to be more than 100,000 petrol and diesel pumps across the UK while the number of EV charging points( home and Public) stands at over 350,000 and counting. While the growth in public charging points will grow exponentially, the risk of hacking, disabling and even weaponizing these has become an increasingly recognized problem.
Richard Barrington, ANGOKA’s head of land mobility says the race to decarbonize and the shift to electrification goes hand in hand with digitization.
“We need to electrify our economy but we have not fully understood the need for cyber security in this transition,” says Mr Barrington.
“While data protection through encryption is in place to prevent the theft of financial information through credit cards and electronic payment forms, the cyber security of the actual charging points should be at the top of the agenda,” he says.
Because EV charging points are all networked, the risk goes beyond theft of financial information or abstracting electricity. ANGOKA says the potential to engineer an attack back onto the national grid or spoof charging indicators allowing batteries to be over or undercharged means the industry must adopt the Zero Trust principles of Never Trust, Always Verify!
“The threat landscape becomes even more extensive when you consider the bi-directional data exchange between vehicle and charging point,” says Mr Barrington, “this data exchange can be unprotected and vulnerable meaning hijacking, the introduction of malware and denial of service attacks become probable.
ANGOKA says the responsibility of providing the cyber security to protect these from attack has fallen between the players in the supply chain, Manufacturers, Installers, operators and procurers e.g. local authorities.
New regulations coming into force next year creates a more open market in that anyone should be able to use any charging point irrespective of the operator. Unfortunately greater levels of interconnectivity will lead to a widening of the threat landscape and risk potentially at national scale. Mr Barrington. “We believe there is an approach that can address these concerns and the EV charging sector and the motor industry must step up and take action.”
Representatives from the automotive sectors are due to meet ANGOKA representatives in Belfast in the coming weeks in anticipation of new EV charging point regulations to be introduced next summer.
Erapid Charger Company Limited (Erapid) has today announced an investment of €30 million by Aviva Investors, the global asset management business of Aviva plc. This investment will lead to the direct creation of 60 Irish jobs. Erapid trades in Ireland as EasyGo, Ireland’s largest private car charging network provider, and CarCharger EV Limited.
The phased investment, which is being made by Aviva Investors as part of its Climate Transition Real Assets strategy, will enable Erapid to rapidly expand CarCharger and EasyGo, increasing operational capabilities and its network of chargers. In addition, and as part of the transaction, Rubicon Capital Advisors, an Irish based merchant banking boutique and one of Erapid’s largest shareholders, will also increase its stake in the company to further assist with the growth of the business. Erapid plans to roll out over 3,000 fast DC chargers onto the national charging network by 2032. The company also plans to add over 20,000 commercial AC chargers into apartment, buildings, hotels and other key locations. To facilitate this next growth stage, the company’s new headquarters will be based in Maynooth, where the company has also established an operations support centre of excellence.
Chris Kelly, co-founder of Erapid, said: “Today’s announcement will accelerate our mission to decarbonise transport, providing accessible and efficient EV charging solutions across the island of Ireland and into the UK. As Ireland’s largest owner and operator of charging stations, this strategic investment by Aviva Investors propels us into an exciting phase of growth. One of the immediate goals resulting from this funding is the significant expansion of our network, including the rollout of over 3,000 fast chargers. We will also be hiring for up to 60 new roles across operations, customer support and sales.”
Mr Kelly added: “This marks an exciting new phase for Erapid and our two brands. With this funding, we will be strategically reviewing our market approach, with plans in place for an overall brand refresh to reflect the new vision and growth plans for the business. The EV sales market in Ireland is booming but needs the infrastructure to catch up. This investment combined with our history of introducing the latest charging technology to Ireland means we are well positioned to create and scale a seamless EV charging network that supports a sustainable future. We are delighted to be partnering with Aviva Investors, whose strong focus and presence in sectors including sustainability and commercial property mirrors our own. We look forward to working together to capitalise on synergies arising that can lead to future shared growth.”
Adam Irwin, Fund Manager, Infrastructure Equity, at Aviva Investors said: “Our investment into Erapid and its two core brands CarCharger and EasyGo is a terrific opportunity to invest into one of our home markets and support the growing Irish and Northern Irish EV charging sector. Ireland has some of the lowest public charger to EV ratios in the EU, giving potential for substantial growth in the platform as part of the transition from internal combustion engines and towards electric powertrains. We view this as a great opportunity for the money we look after on behalf of our clients to make a material contribution to delivering on the UK and Ireland’s net zero ambitions, whilst also meeting their long-term investment objectives.”
Conor Kelly, CEO of Rubicon said “Our further investment into the Erapid business demonstrates our confidence in the business, its two brands and its excellent management team to build Ireland’s premium EV car charger business and solidify its market leading position. We are also delighted to be making a significant investment in the build out of Ireland’s essential, and much needed, EV car charging infrastructure which will greatly assist Ireland with meeting its 2030 targets as laid out in the Climate Action Plan 2023 (CAP23).”
Erapid, through CarCharger and EasyGo, currently manages over 4,000 charging points in 1,500 locations across the island of Ireland which are currently used by more than 50,000 registered drivers. Approximately 2,000 new users have been added each month in 2023.
Keeping your space tidy can be a challenge and for me it is a daily one due to my work and all the products around I have in for review and this applies to my work space and my bedside locked which I have some control of as I keep the tech to a minimum there with mostly what is in line for review as for me that includes earbuds and headphones and so on so it is important to have something to minimize the space use and this product fro X/Layout is one to help me out called the X-Plant.
The product is well built and solid and can do multiple things at once and it also has a space for storing your headphones, this part however does not charge them there is also a shelf behind the see- through panels to store small items which is neat and there is two shelves here which can be removed, there is 5 light effects inside this panel too that gives it a nice effect.
You can charge you mobile phones and earbuds and other compatible products which is hand and up to 10watts of power is available, there is then a small branch like structure on the end which is made with quality material and you can hang your keys or smartwatches there, this can be used to hold other products and for me it will be my smartwatches which gives me simple access and walk away and the same for putting them on.

There is many charging solutions on the market today in all shapes and size which is welcome and there is something to suit everyone’s needs and we all have different needs and there is no denying that one, over the years I have tried and tested many of these in all shapes and size and they all do the same thing but over the years things have have changed with more options being built into one unit and with the tech changing you can implement several products into on now and this is what this product does.
Small and portable which is what we want for at home and mostly for travel purposes the PowerCube is the ultimate 4-in-1 charging solution according to the company, this is in short a hybrid charging device that features a 5,000mAh battery pack, a 20W charger, a built-in charging cable and a foldable phone stand.
This little palm sized gadget is versatile and can do more than charge your phone and we have been testing in out for the last few weeks so let’s take a look at what we are getting here and check the video review below.
What does PowerCube do then.
Doubles as A 20W Wall Charger
It also has a built-in AC wall plug (US plug) to give you flexibility when outside without having to bring additional cables and an adapter. If your smartphone needs more than a quick top-up, or the battery itself is dead, simply fold out the AC pins, and plug them into any standard outlet to begin charging. You will not need to face the wall or be tied by the wall socket when chilling at home or travelling with your phone. With pass-through charging you can charge PowerCube and your devices at the same time. It will automatically prioritize powering your devices from a power outlet before charging itself.
The integrated Lightning cable supports up to 20W Power Delivery fast charging. Your iPhone battery can be recharged from 0-50% in only 30 minutes.
The built-in USB-C cable delivers a maximum power output of 22.5W for Samsung, Google, and other compatible Android smartphones and tablets. It can even provide emergency power for low-powered laptops like MacBook Air 13″, Surface Go, Chromebook, Samsung Galaxy Book 2 etc.
Foldable Kickstand to Securely Hold Your Phone
Another interesting feature that sets it aside from other power banks, is its foldable kickstand, which allows for hands-free viewing while charging.
Charge Two Devices Simultaneously
PowerCube is also equipped with a USB-C port on the bottom with a rating of 5V / 2.1A that can be used as input and output. It is a capable mobile companion in its own right — both its USB-C port and integrated cable are capable of delivering 20W of battery power to your device, or 23W total if both ports are used simultaneously. It means you can charge two devices at the same time and share power with your friend.
Safe & Reliable Charging
The product is built with superior safety features, including battery overcharge protection, overcurrent protection, output overvoltage protection, temperature control, short circuit protection, etc.
Smallest,Lightest but Most Powerful
Combining wall charger, power bank, kickstand together, PowerCube is still one of the lightest and most compact power banks that you can buy. Having such fast charging speeds is quite unusual for such compact power banks.
PowerCube is remarkably portable – measuring up at a minuscule 4.2 inches(106mm) on its longest side and 1.5 inches (38mm) in width, making it perfect for stashing in your purse, pocket or makeup bag.
It weighs just 173g (6.1 ounces), about 30% lighter than a similar conventional 5000mAh power bank. This is the type of power bank you’ll even forget you have until the moment you actually need it.
Travel-friendly Pin Converters For Any Country
We provide this travel adapter bundle (including EU plug, UK plug and AU plug) as an add on. They are easy to carry with you in your luggage without issue. Easily convert UK/EU/AU plug to the US plug of PowerCube, you can get juiced up across borders.
