Enhance your Android experience with Z Launcher Beta from Nokia #Android #HomeScreen by @Tiwaash

Yesterday the world witnessed comeback of the Finish mobile giant which was once synonymy for mobile phones, yes we are talking of Nokia and the rebirth of Nokia in the consumer goods segment. We all know what happened in the recent past but the determined Nokia has comeback with a bang with a winner device the Nokia N1, the company’s first product after the device and services were taken over by Microsoft, and mind you this is a winner.

The N1 tablet runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop with the home grown launcher from Nokia which takes the whole Android experience to a new level, the Z Launcher. With fluid and clean UI running over the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop users get to experience an entirely new UI and guess what Nokia made the Z Launcher (Beta) available for free on the Play Store for USA & EU and provided the direct link for other regions to get a hands on experience of the Z Launcher to android users.

How Z Launcher Works?

Z Launcher is a unique launcher and we have never experienced anything like this before on any platforms yet, it is simple, clean, sleek and understands you and your requirements. Using Z Launcher is very easy just scribble a letter and there u get the list of all the apps, webpages, contacts containing that letter, can even search the web directly from your start screen. It understand what we are trying to communicate making it easy for us find everything right there from the main screen instead of panning through pages, everything available just with simple scribbling. Swiping from right to left works as backspace.

User Interface

The top row of the home screen has 3 horizontal scrollable pages showing the time, calendar & weather, which gets increased by one when using music player providing with option to pause or play music.

Below this there is a list of the recently used apps which change the order with usage.

Below this list we get four customizable apps which can be changed with simple press and hold and drag and drop, they don’t change with usage. In the center of this row there is a button which allows you to access the whole list of apps just but single bit on it.

Again you have an option of either scroll and scribble to find the app you been looking for.

This page has shortcuts for Play Store & Z Launcher Settings on the right corner just above the app list.

You can hide any item from appearing from the home screen by pressing and holding the app and instead of the app icon it changes to hide, hit hide and it’s gone from the list.

Z Launcher got its first update today, the details in the picture above.

So enjoy the redefined user interface on your old Android to give your device a new life. Download for free from Play Store if you are in USA or EU or download from here if you are elsewhere.

Let us know what you have to say about this innovative UI from Nokia in the comments below.

Reddit News is the Material Design Reddit app you’ve been waiting for #App #Reddit

Today I went in search of a new client for Reddit. Until today, I used “Reddit is fun golden platinum”, and I thought it was the best app for the job.

It’s not.

The Beta version of Reddit News and Reddit News Free (Ads) has blown every other client I’ve ever used out of the water, without a doubt.

2014 - 1

The main reason why I love this client is because of it’s beautiful design and functionality.

The app’s beat version has the new “material design” look that we should all be expecting to see soon running on our devices. Animations are slick, text is clear, and it’s very well laid out so you can access almost anything with just a few swipes.

The functionality of this app is unrivaled. I’m not saying that other clients don’t offer the same capabilities as this one, this one just does it better. A lot better. I used to hate using reddit on my mobile, simply because I knew that it didn’t look pretty and tracking comments was an absolute nightmare, but now, reddit news is my second most used app and almost definitely my favourite.

To sign up for the beta to Reddit News, click the link below to join the community where you can opt-in to be a beta tester:

Once you’ve joined, just download the app, or if you already have it, wait for the update to be pushed to your device.

So what do you guys think? Do you like the new “material design”, or are you going to stick with the “Holo” look for now? Let me know in the comments below and I’ll do my best to answer 🙂
