How exactly do they help build social confidence?

AI companions can play a significant role in helping people build social confidence, especially for those who struggle with social anxiety. Here are some key ways they achieve this:

  1. Safe Environment for Practice:
AI companions provide a safe space for individuals to practice social interactions without the fear of judgment. Users can engage in conversations, express their feelings, and explore different social scenarios at their own pace. This practice can help them feel more comfortable when interacting with real people.
  2. Feeling Heard and Understood:
Research shows that feeling heard is crucial in alleviating loneliness and building confidence. AI companions are designed to listen actively and respond in ways that make users feel understood. This emotional support can boost self-esteem and encourage individuals to engage more in social situations.
  3. Personalized Interaction:
Many AI companions, like Nectar AI, can adapt to the user’s personality and preferences. They learn from interactions, which helps them provide responses that resonate with the user. This personalized approach allows individuals to feel more connected, making it easier for them to open up and express themselves.
  4. Reducing Feelings of Loneliness:
Loneliness can exacerbate social anxiety, creating a cycle that is hard to break. AI companions offer companionship and emotional support, helping users feel less isolated. By combating loneliness, these companions can indirectly foster greater social confidence.

These are just some of the ways that AI can help an individual improve their social skills, of course there are still more. AI companions provide valuable tools for individuals looking to build social confidence. Through safe practice environments, personalized interactions, and emotional support, they help users develop the skills and self-assurance needed for real-world connections.

Avoid over reliance on AI

While AI companions can be a valuable tool in building social confidence, it’s crucial to maintain a balance between virtual interactions and real-world connections. Over-reliance on AI girlfriends, AI boyfriends, or any virtual companion can be harmful in the long run. These platforms should serve as a supplement to, not a replacement for, genuine human interactions.

To strike a healthy balance, users should set boundaries on their AI companion usage and actively seek out opportunities to socialize with real people. This could involve joining clubs, attending social events, or simply making an effort to connect with friends and family.

Top 7 Digital Payment Trends in 2024

Digital payments have become an integral part of our daily lives, revolutionizing the way we transact. As technology continues to advance, so too does the landscape of digital payments. These trends are driven by factors such as increased smartphone adoption, growing consumer demand for convenience, and advancements in payment technologies.

In this article, we explore what digital payment trends are and highlight seven digital payment trends of 2024.

What Are Digital Payment Trends?

In the past decade, the financial landscape has undergone dramatic changes, and nowhere is this more evident than in the digital payments sector.

The rise of e-commerce, the global shift toward mobile-first solutions, and the advent of cutting-edge technologies have all transformed how consumers and businesses conduct financial transactions.

Digital payment trends reflect the innovative processes and technologies that drive these changes, shaping the way money is moved, managed, and stored.

Some impacts of digital payment trends have included:

  • Financial inclusion through providing financial access to populations that have historically been underserved by traditional banking systems.
  • Acting as new revenue streams for businesses by integrating financial services into their platforms. Whether it’s through subscription models, integrated marketplaces, or fintech partnerships, companies are capitalizing on the convenience of in-app payments.
  • Increased security and fraud prevention since these technologies are helping to reduce fraud, protect consumer data, and ensure that financial transactions are safe and reliable.
  • Increased competition for traditional financial systems which is pushing banks to rethink their role in the financial ecosystem, forcing them to innovate or risk becoming obsolete.

Top Digital Payment Trends of the Year

2024 has seen a further rise in digital payment, especially the uptake of tools and applications that make payment easier for individuals and businesses

Here are the top 7 digital payment trends of 2024.

Blockchain Payments

Blockchain technology is transforming the digital payments landscape in 2024, offering enhanced security, transparency, and efficiency. Its decentralized nature eliminates intermediaries, allowing peer-to-peer (P2P) transactions without the need for banks or payment processors. Each transaction is recorded on an immutable ledger, reducing the risk of fraud and ensuring data integrity.

Cross-border payments are a key area where blockchain shines. Traditional international transfers are slow and costly, but blockchain enables instant, low-cost payments by bypassing intermediaries using solutions such as stablecoins—digital assets pegged to stable currencies like the US dollar, which can be easily stored and transferred using a DeFi wallet.

Contactless Payments

Contactless payments, which allow users to simply tap their card, phone, or wearable device to a terminal, have become increasingly popular due to their speed and ease of use. In 2024, they continue to revolutionize the way we pay for goods and services.

Some contactless payment technologies include NFC-enabled cards and smartphones that enable secure communication with a payment terminal, allowing users to complete transactions in seconds.

Another notable contactless payment trend in 2024 is the rise of wearable payment devices such as smartwatches, fitness trackers, and rings. These devices offer an even more convenient and hands-free way to pay, particularly appealing to tech-savvy consumers who seek quick, seamless transactions on the go.

Biometric Authentication

With security concerns growing in tandem with the rise of digital payments, biometric authentication has emerged as a game-changing technology in the payment space.

By using unique physical attributes like fingerprints, facial recognition, or even iris scans, biometric authentication offers a highly secure method for verifying identities and authorizing payments.

In 2024, many smartphones and digital wallets already incorporate biometric authentication features, with fingerprint and facial recognition being the most common. Consumers can now unlock their wallets, authorize payments, and verify transactions through a simple scan, offering both security and convenience.

QR Code Payments

QR codes have been around for years, but their use in digital payments has exploded, particularly in markets like Asia. In 2024, QR code payments have become a global trend, enabling quick, simple, and secure transactions.

To make a QR code payment, a merchant generates a unique code that encodes payment details. The consumer scans the QR code with their mobile device, which redirects them to a secure payment platform. This process is both convenient and adaptable, working for in-store purchases, e-commerce transactions, and even peer-to-peer payments.

QR code payments have seen rapid adoption in countries like China and India, where smartphone penetration is high but banking infrastructure may be less developed.

Platforms like WeChat Pay and Alipay have led the charge in China, with millions of users adopting QR codes for everything from small retail purchases to larger business transactions.

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Artificial intelligence is transforming the payments industry, enhancing everything from fraud detection to personalized payment experiences. AI is a critical player in optimizing and securing digital payment systems in 2024.

AI-powered algorithms are revolutionizing fraud detection by analyzing transaction patterns in real-time to detect anomalies. This proactive approach helps prevent fraudulent activity before it occurs, safeguarding both consumers and businesses. Machine learning models become more effective with each transaction, learning from data to improve their ability to spot suspicious activity.

AI is also being used to offer more personalized payment experiences. For example, AI can analyze a user’s spending habits and offer tailored recommendations, such as which card to use for rewards or when to make purchases to maximize savings. By understanding user behavior, AI enhances convenience and creates a more seamless payment journey.

Lastly, AI-driven automation is streamlining back-end operations for financial institutions and businesses alike. Processes such as payment reconciliation, customer service, and transaction processing are being optimized through AI, reducing costs and improving service delivery.

Open Banking

Open banking is a trend that has been gaining momentum in recent years by granting third-party providers access to consumer banking data through application programming interfaces (APIs).

Open banking allows consumers to authorize third-party applications to access their financial information, such as transaction history and account details. This empowers consumers to use financial apps that provide budgeting tools, personalized payment services, or investment advice tailored to their needs. The control over how data is shared leads to better financial management.

This digital payment trend has also paved the way for more direct payment methods. Instead of relying on intermediaries like card networks, open banking enables consumers to make payments directly from their bank accounts. This reduces transaction fees and offers a more seamless payment experience for both consumers and businesses. By opening up access to consumer data, banks and fintech companies can collaborate to create more innovative financial products and services.

Embedded Payments

Embedded payments represent one of the most transformative shifts in the payments landscape.

By embedding payment functionality directly into apps, websites, and platforms, businesses are creating frictionless experiences where payments occur almost invisibly.

Embedded payments allow users to complete transactions without being redirected to a third-party payment gateway. Instead, payments are processed seamlessly within the platform. For example, ride-hailing apps like Uber and Lyft enable users to pay for their rides without ever leaving the app, with payment happening automatically in the background. By removing steps in the payment process, businesses can lower cart abandonment rates and increase customer satisfaction.

Wrapping Up

Digital payments are evolving at an unprecedented rate, and the trends of 2024 reflect the fast-paced innovation in this space.

From the widespread adoption of digital wallets and contactless payments to the security enhancements provided by biometric authentication, these trends are reshaping the way consumers and businesses handle transactions.

As we move forward, digital payments will only become more integrated into our everyday lives, leading us toward a truly cashless and frictionless financial future.

How AI is Shaping the Future of Creative Writing Tools

Alright, let’s dive into something super exciting and a little bit mind-bending—**AI in creative writing**. Now, if you’re a writer (or someone who’s even dabbled a little), you probably know the struggle of staring at a blank page, waiting for that *one* genius idea to strike. Writer’s block is no joke, and sometimes it feels like creativity decides to take a vacation right when you need it most. But what if I told you that artificial intelligence (yes, robots!) is stepping up to lend us creative humans a hand? Or, well…a few hundred lines of code.

Let’s face it: AI is slowly seeping into every aspect of our lives. We’ve got smart homes, self-driving cars, AI assistants that can remind you to drink water (because apparently, we forget), and now—creative writing tools powered by AI. It sounds a bit crazy, right? But believe me, it’s happening, and it’s shaking up how we approach writing. AI isn’t just for crunching numbers or playing chess anymore. It’s creating, innovating, and helping writers push boundaries in ways that were unimaginable just a few years ago.

So, let’s get into it. How exactly is AI shaping the future of creative writing tools, and should writers be celebrating or side-eyeing these advancements?

1. Breaking Through Writer’s Block

You know those moments where you’ve got the beginning of a brilliant story, but halfway through, you just…freeze? Yeah, we’ve all been there. Whether it’s writing a novel, a blog post, or even a short poem, getting stuck happens to the best of us. AI is like that friendly nudge you need to keep going.

Enter AI-powered plot generators like squibler, tools designed to help you get unstuck in your creative process. With just a few inputs, these systems can spit out ideas, generate plot twists, or help you develop characters in ways that might surprise you. It’s like having a brainstorming buddy that never runs out of juice or needs coffee breaks. Pretty neat, right?

And before you start thinking, “Oh, great, now AI is going to write my entire story for me,” hold up. AI isn’t here to replace writers. It’s more like a trusty sidekick—like Robin to your Batman. It helps kickstart your imagination, but you’re still the one in control of the steering wheel.

2. Personalized Writing Assistants

You’ve probably heard of **Grammarly** or **Hemingway Editor**, right? These tools use AI to polish your writing, catch pesky grammar mistakes, and suggest ways to improve readability. But we’re now moving way beyond just catching spelling errors.

Imagine an AI that understands your unique writing style, can analyze your voice, and suggests edits that don’t just fix grammar but enhance your flow and creativity. That’s where the future is headed. Personalized AI writing assistants could soon learn your favorite phrases, your tone, and even the genres you like to write in. They’d adapt to you, making the editing process a whole lot smoother.

Writers are already using AI-driven assistants to speed up their work and make their prose shine. And while nothing can fully replace a human editor’s nuanced touch, AI is getting frighteningly good at offering instant feedback and ideas. It’s like having an editor-in-chief sitting on your shoulder, minus the judgemental looks.

3. Experimenting with New Forms of Writing

Okay, this is where things get really interesting. AI is not just enhancing traditional forms of writing; it’s also pushing the boundaries of what we think of as “writing” altogether. AI-generated poetry, screenplays, and even interactive fiction are already in the works.

You’ve got platforms where you can input a few basic elements—like setting, characters, and a theme—and the AI takes it from there, crafting entire stories or scenarios. Writers are using AI to explore new kinds of narrative structures, testing out plotlines and character arcs that they might not have thought of otherwise. Sure, sometimes the results can be a little wacky, but that’s part of the charm, right? Creativity is all about experimentation, and AI is giving writers a playground full of possibilities.

Even big-name writers are getting in on the action. Novelist **Robin Sloan** (author of “Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore”) has openly talked about using AI to co-write parts of his novels. He feeds the AI writing prompts, sees what it churns out, and then tweaks it to fit his own style. The result? A blend of human intuition and machine creativity. Sounds like the future is already here, doesn’t it?

4. Collaborative Writing with AI

Speaking of collaboration, one of the coolest things about AI is that it can actually *work with* writers in real-time. There are AI platforms where writers and AI can co-write a story together. How it works is simple: you write a paragraph, the AI generates the next one, and you build from there. The AI might suggest surprising plot twists or new character developments you hadn’t even considered. It’s like having a brainstorming session, except your partner is a super-fast, idea-generating machine.

And let’s not forget that AI doesn’t get tired, doesn’t lose focus, and never misses a deadline. While you’re off getting your second cup of coffee, AI is ready to keep churning out words.

5. Helping Writers Become More Efficient

One of the biggest perks of AI is how it helps writers become more productive. From outlining to drafting and even editing, AI can speed up various parts of the writing process. Think about all the hours we spend outlining story arcs, researching character backstories, or fact-checking our own work. AI can assist with all that.

For instance, there are tools that can help organize your notes, research for you, or even automate some of the more tedious parts of the writing process. And when you combine those tools with AI-powered brainstorming platforms like a **plot generator**, you’ve got yourself a powerful writing toolkit that’s designed to make the process faster and more efficient.

It’s not about cutting corners; it’s about freeing up more time for the part of writing we all love—the actual creation. AI handles the mundane, so we can focus on crafting those heart-pounding action scenes or perfecting that witty dialogue.

6. The Future is (Mostly) Bright

Of course, the rise of AI in creative writing comes with its fair share of skeptics. There are worries that relying too much on AI might lead to a loss of originality or that machine-written content could saturate the market with lifeless, cookie-cutter stories. But let’s be real: creativity is a deeply human trait. Sure, AI can assist, suggest, and even co-write, but it’s the human touch—the emotion, the lived experience—that makes a piece of writing truly special.

The key is finding a balance. Using AI as a tool to enhance creativity, not replace it. Writers who embrace these technologies will have an edge in productivity, experimentation, and efficiency. But ultimately, it’s still up to the writer to weave the magic that makes readers laugh, cry, and keep turning those pages.

Wrapping It Up: AI as a Creative Co-Pilot

AI might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of creative writing, but it’s fast becoming a game-changer. From overcoming writer’s block with tools like a plot generator to experimenting with new narrative forms, AI is pushing creative boundaries in all kinds of unexpected ways. While it’s still early days, the future of creative writing could be a fusion of human imagination and machine efficiency.

So, should you be worried? Nah. Should you be curious? Absolutely. Because in the end, AI might just be the spark that takes your writing to the next level.

Ardanis Technologies Creates 20 New Jobs and has Invested €2m in Aileen, its AI Solution

Irish software and digital consulting company Ardanis Technologies is creating 20 new jobs to support Aileen, the company’s new AI solution.  Aileen is a generative solution developed for call / contact centres.

New jobs will be created over the next 12 months and will include roles in sales, marketing, support, and innovative AI-driven technology.

Aileen was developed by Ardanis and is designed to be intelligent, adaptable and can integrate into all existing systems used by call/contact centres.  A key challenge for call centres/contact centres is managing call volumes and other inbound requests such as email, which need to be routed to the correct agents for processing. Aileen enables contact centres to fully automate this process, which frees up the agents to provide a better and quicker experience to their customers, while allowing them to focus on higher-value tasks.

“Aileen has resulted in the opening of new opportunities for Ardanis”, explains Ivan Goor, Group CEO at Ardanis.  “Aileen has proven that with the right blend of technology and human expertise, even the most complex problems can be solved, leading to happier customers, more empowered agents, and a brighter future for the contact centre industry”.

Aileen is a generative AI solution and goes beyond traditional rule-based AI by combining advanced Large Language Models (LLMs) with flow-based, agentic workflows to deliver context-aware, adaptive, and emotionally intelligent responses.  While LLMs enable Aileen to understand and generate human-like text by processing vast amounts of training data, the flow-based architecture allows Aileen to execute complex, multi-step tasks in a structured and efficient manner.  This dual approach enables the AI to understand the nuances of human communication while managing interactions dynamically through predefined workflows.

“Aileen has been designed to enhance the customer experience landscape”, concludes Ivan. “Ardanis will support every business in achieving its vision by reducing process lifecycles from hours to seconds”.
