Today, Facebook Ireland is launching a new campaign in partnership with the WHO and its European fact-checking partners to educate people on how to spot false vaccination news. The campaign, ‘Together Against Covid-19 Misinformation’ launches at an important juncture in the roll out of Ireland’s national Covid-19 vaccination programme, which reached a milestone of half a million vaccinations administered at the end of February.
‘Together Against Covid-19 Misinformation’ will roll out to Newsfeeds in Ireland through a series of ads encouraging people to connect with accurate information from credible sources such as Ireland’s Health Services Executive (HSE), and reduce misinformation by asking them to check the following when viewing content online;
1.Check The Source: Scrutinise content, even if it appears science based
2.Check How It Makes You Feel: False news can manipulate feelings for clicks
3.Check The Context: Look to public health authorities to confirm content
Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, Facebook has worked closely with the HSE – and global public health experts – to connect people to accurate information and tackle vaccine misinformation. This campaign has been launched to provide further tools, knowledge and resources to help inform people on how to detect false news – and ultimately stop sharing it.
Between March and October 2020, Facebook removed more than 12 million pieces of Covid-19 misinformation on Facebook and Instagram, and displayed warnings on about 167 million pieces of Covid-19 content on Facebook, pointing to debunking articles written by fact checking partners.
Facebook’s platforms also provide a channel for important public health messages. The HSE is experiencing significant increases in people accessing Covid-19 and vaccine information on their social channels. Since December 30th 2020, the HSE has reached over 9.2 million people on Facebook and had over 573,000 engagements on posts about Covid-19 health messaging. The HSE’s #OurHealthService Covid-19 vaccine stories featuring real people getting the vaccine have reached around 1 million people per post; while their Instagram posts have reached over 669,000 people.
Paul Reid, CEO, HSE said, “Social media is an essential platform for us to communicate and we’ve used it very successfully to communicate our key messages to the majority of the population. We welcome the work Facebook is undertaking to help users spot false news in relation to Covid-19 and vaccines. Public safety remains our top priority and we will continue to share factual, up-to-date information from trusted sources, which will in turn allow people to make informed and confident decisions about Covid-19 vaccines.”
Dualta Ó Broin, Head of Public Policy at Facebook Ireland said, “Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic we have been connecting people to accurate information and reducing misinformation on our platforms. We are removing harmful misinformation about vaccines and Covid-19. .We also want to empower people to decide for themselves what to read, trust, and share. This campaign will encourage users to connect with accurate information around vaccines, and will highlight the broader steps we are taking against misinformation on Facebook.”

Jabra, leaders in personal sound and office solutions, announces three new features on the Jabra Elite 85t, made available via the Jabra Sound+ app; MyFit, headset renaming and Off-mode to earbud toggle. This is the first software upgrade offered to Elite 85t users following the launch in October 2020, that adds brand new features to the earbud.
MyFit – ensuring the best ANC and music experience
The MyFit feature on the Sound+ app allows Elite 85t users to confirm their correct EarGel™ size and position to optimise their ANC and audio experience. The feature works as a fit test where a 6.5 second multitone is played to check for sound leakage with the help of the in-ear microphone. Sound leakage detected in either earbud is an indication of a poor fit and users will be requested to readjust their earbud or change their EarGel size. The process can be repeated until a good fit is achieved.
Through providing this feature, Jabra is ensuring that users of the Elite 85t have the best seal possible, ultimately giving the users an enhanced audio experience, improved active noise-cancellation and deeper base.
Further personalisation with more sound mode cycle options and a headset name
The next feature being offered to Elite 85t users is related to the sound mode cycles available (controlled via the buttons on the earbuds), which adds to the previously available cycle options; HearThrough and ANC. With this addition, users will now be able to cycle between HearThrough, ANC and off.
Jabra has now expanded the cycle option on the earbud to become the same as the cycle option in the app, providing users with the complete variety of sound mode cycles:
HearThrough & ANC
HearThrough & Off
HearThrough, ANC & Off
Finally, Elite 85t users will now also have the option to name their headset, further enhancing the personalisation experience Jabra strives to deliver. This addition will change the name of their headset in both the Sound+ app and the Bluetooth list, so there is no confusion on who they belong to.
Jabra Elite 85t key features and specifications:
Compact design and oval silicon EarGels™for a secure seal and comfortable fit
Dedicated ANC chip which is more efficient in cancelling surrounding noises
Adjustable ANC with dual sliders for full ANC or full HearThrough

Flow sensors can be purchased at any reputable distributor, such as RS Components and are used for:
oil and gas
solvents and chemicals
drugs
industrial coolants
steam
Which type of flow sensor is right for my business?
Water flow sensor
As the water passes through the sensor, the turbine is rotated sending a signal to the wire coil attached. The speed of the water passing through alters the speed the paddle or turbine is turned, providing a measurement of water flow.
Magnetic-Inductive Volumetric Flow Meters
As conductive liquid flows through the magnetic field, a voltage signal is created, with the signal increasing with the speed of the flow.
Thermal Mass Flow Sensor
Capillary Thermal Mass flow meter
Gas diverted through a narrow tube is measured via signals between two PRTD coils attached to the tube. The difference in the signals travelling either with or against the current is directly proportional to the flow, providing a measurement of the mass of the gas flow.
Immersible Thermal Mas flow meter.
A temperature sensor which measures the internal gas temperature and a velocity sensor are inserted through the piping into the flow with a constant differential maintained between each. The heat from the velocity sensor transfers to the gas molecules as they pass. The electrical wattage that is required to reheat the sensor is proportional to the mass flow rate providing an accurate measurement of total gas mass flow rate.
Transit Time flow measurement
A transducer emits an ultrasonic beam into the passing fluid which is reflected off present solid particles or air bubbles to the receiving transducer. The frequency that the reflected beam is received measures the flow, as the frequency shift is linearly proportional to the flow rate.
To measure flow that does not have bubbles or solid particles, the two transducers are placed on each side of the pipe diagonally opposite. The speed of the beam return changes according to whether the stream is going with or against the flow. If the flow has stopped, the beam will travel at the same speed in both directions.
Vortext shedding flow sensor.
A blocking body inside the pipe causes vortices to form which then create zones of low and high pressure known as the Karmen Vortex Street. A mechanical sensor detects changes in the pressure of the liquid measuring the flow by counting the vortices as they pass. The difference between the vortices corresponds with a defined measurement of the fluid.
Choosing your flow sensor
Ask your supplier about the most efficient type of flow sensor that will suit the velocity, viscosity, conductivity and purity of your liquid or gas flow. Higher quality flow sensors provide reliable data which will ensure that any issues with the liquid flow are immediately detected and preventative maintenance applied. Discuss your needs with an expert to get the most accurate and efficient use out of your flow sensors.
To celebrate its 25th anniversary, the Nik Collection, the famous photo plugin suite for Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom Classic, and DxO PhotoLab and the winner of the 2020-2021 EISA Award for Best Photo-Editing Software, released its latest 3.3 version. This version includes a pack of 25 brand-new Presets for Color Efex Pro and Silver Efex Pro. These twenty-five exclusive Presets are divided into five series, each with five Presets: “Classic Portrait Color,” “Classic Portrait Black & White,” “Light & Bright,” “Wildlife,” and “Street”. This update is also compatible with macOS Big Sur and the 2021 versions of Adobe’s host applications.
Designed for Multiple Genres and Today’s Photography
The new Presets included in the Nik Collection 3 by DxO showcase five photography genres, specifically colour portraiture, black-and-white portraits, landscape photography, wildlife photography, and street photography. These are the five most popular genres among expert and amateur photographers alike. Color Efex Pro, which already includes a number of creative colour Presets and recipes, and Silver Efex Pro, which continues to set the standard for black-and-white conversion, are the two Nik Collection plugins photographers turn to the most.
With its ten “Classic Portrait Color” Presets for Color Efex Pro and “Classic Portrait Black & White” Presets for Silver Efex Pro, the Nik Collection 3 by DxO offers users a modern and holistic approach to the genre. “High Key Bright” brings out the whites and brightness in colour portraits, giving images a joyful and optimistic ambiance. With its lower exposure levels, “Hint of Color” creates a more dramatic look that nonetheless remains soft through the addition of a colour tint.
With respect to black-and-white photography, “Hollywood Glamour” produces images with high contrast yet controls the darker tones in the image to conceal any flaws. For those nostalgic for the analogue film era, “Rugged” offers a perfectly balanced, fine-grain look.
When it comes to landscape photography, the “Light & Bright” series designed for Color Efex Pro opts for a colourful take on the genre through a selection of monochromatic or chromatic-dominant Presets. “Cafe Mocha” adds a dark beige tint, while “Pink Lemonade” uses a pink tint. With their green and blue tones, “Fade Away” and “Heavenly Blue” give landscapes a timeless look. “Sunshine Morning” creates softer and more balanced tints.
The “Wildlife” series for Color Efex Pro includes Presets that showcase a variety of lighting effects and highlight detail. With its blue tint and slight blur, “Cool Evening” simulates a semi-nocturnal ambiance. “Sunny Day” mimics the effect of a bright, noon-day sun without flattening the image. Wish your photo was a bit sharper? “Fur Details” increases micro-contrast and enhances textures, resulting in an incredibly realistic effect.
Finally, the “Street” series for Silver Efex Pro opts for an approach poised between classicism and modernism by playing up contrasts, grain, and tints simultaneously. “High Contrast” recreates that classic street photography look by producing dense blacks and stark whites. “Street Gritty” adds a slight grain over the top, which is reminiscent of Leica. With “Street Dramatic”, the background of the photo is darkened, and the depth of field is shortened.
Twenty-five Years Dedicated to Innovation and Photography
Since Nils Kokemohr founded the company in 1995, Nik Multimedia, which later became Nik Software in 2006, has sought to develop photo-editing software that helps photographers who use Adobe Photoshop realise their vision through the use of simple tools based on exclusive algorithms and designed to improve their workflow. The software developer created Color Efex Pro to improve colour conversion, Sharpener Pro to boost sharpness, Dfine to reduce noise, Viveza to apply local colour adjustments, HDR Efex Pro to edit HDR images, Silver Efex Pro for white-and-black conversions, and Analog Efex to recreate the look of silver halide film. It also released a number of innovations, including the famous local adjustment technology U POINT™.
After Google purchased it in 2012, the Nik Collection was gradually side-lined. When DxO bought it in 2017, the suite was re-released, much to the delight of its extensive community of users. Its latest version, released in June 2020, added a number of new features, including the Selective Tool, which was redesigned to work with Adobe Photoshop, a non-destructive workflow for Adobe Lightroom users, and an eighth plugin, Perspective Efex.
Compatible with macOS Big Sur and the Latest Versions of Adobe software
To ensure the best possible user experience, the Nik Collection 3.3 by DxO was optimised to be fully compatible with macOS Big Sur as well as the latest versions of Adobe Lightroom Classic, Photoshop, and Photoshop Elements.
Users who purchased Nik Collection 3 by DxO after June 2020 may upgrade their software for free. Photographers who already own Nik Collection 2 By DxO or a previous version can upgrade their software by signing into their customer accounts. A fully-functional, one-month trial version of Nik Collection 3.3 By DxO is available on the DxO website: https://nikcollection.dxo.com/download/.

Over the last while I have been testing out these earbuds and I have been impressed to say the least and not only this the attention they have been getting from people on the street or family circle due to how they look, they really stand out and look great and to top it off they sound great too and potential buyers will not be disappointed at all here with the overall package on offer.
The Marley Redemption are not your typical pair of true wireless earbuds but made with bamboo and sustainable materials which many companies are now doing to tackle the climate change issue we constantly hear about. The charging case is also quite nice and different with a bamboo finish and a speckled soft touch finish on the inside, We have quick charge here which will see you around two hours in a 15 minute charge which is great. The overall battery without ANC is on par with the claims and without ANC on the last longer but you will be using the ANC here.
When you pair these up they for the first time you will have no issues from here on and they pair pretty quick too out of the box once you have your bluetooth activated, You also get a non robotic voice when changing mode and a real stereo effect sounding lady which also sounds nice and better than what we typically here with true wireless earbuds and this is when you first experience how good these sound as a whole.
Controls are easy to use with touch set up rather than button and these worked great during my testing each and every time, We have double tap on the left for voice assistants and the same for call control and calls are pretty clear too and sounded good both ends on my testing, They do not allow you to reverse track which was my only real gripe but not an issue for me, You can play and pause tracks with a double tap on the right and again on the right a tripple tap will skip tracks. Tripple tap on the left allows you to change the mode with ANC, There is no volume control on these which might bother some but we have auto play and pause. These offer a great seal in general and block out a good deal of the outside world but you can let that in should you wish to do so and for those into fitness they will not fall out.
On my usual test run with Netflix/You Tube they worked a treat with great balance overall and good direction with loud volume and good highs lows and mids and overall pretty impressive with a good bit of bass and good separation you will not be let down here, No lag latency either I am no audiophile expert but have tested over a 100 pairs of true wireless and I know a good pair when I hear them and these certainly fit in my top ten to date.
Battery life is on the low to mid end here but you get fast charging and there is no wireless charging on the case which would have been a nice finish to the product as a whole but with whats on offer here they are priced a little high for some and I tend to agree but you get something different here that stands out and they would earn my hard earned money if put in front of me.
Bright Sky Ireland, A new free app that connects victims of domestic violence and abuse to advice and support services across the country. Bright Sky Ireland is the latest addition to Vodafone Foundation’s domestic violence project, which uses connectivity to help support those affected by domestic abuse here and across Europe. The app launches today on the Android and iOS platforms.
Bright Sky Ireland, created in partnership with the UK-based domestic abuse charity Hestia, along with Women’s Aid Ireland and An Garda Síochána, enables users to locate their nearest support centre by searching their area, eircode or current location. A short questionnaire will help users assess the safety of a relationship while also providing information about different forms of abuse such as sexual violence, stalking and harassment. The app also highlights the types of supports available, steps to consider if leaving an abusive relationship and how to help a friend affected by domestic abuse.
The app contains a ground-breaking feature designed to log incidents of domestic abuse without any content being saved on the device itself. It enables users to send information about incidents in a secure digital journal, using a text, audio, video or photo function. Evidence collated through this function will enable Gardaí to intervene and can help secure prosecutions.
Recent research carried out by the Vodafone Foundation showed that 31% of Irish workers have experienced some form of domestic abuse of which, more than half (57%) felt safer at work compared to home. 63% experienced psychological abuse and control, 47% experienced physical violence, 23% experienced sexual violence or abuse and 19% experienced stalking. 21% said they experienced some form of domestic abuse daily and 28% said they experienced it two or three times a week.

Attendees at the event in the Science Gallery in Dublin this morning heard from Anne O’Leary, CEO, Vodafone Ireland, Sarah Benson, Executive Director, Women’s Aid Ireland, Declan Daly, Detective Chief Superintendent, Garda National Protective Services Bureau and Patrick Ryan, CEO, Hestia. John Liversidge from Thames Valley Partnership in the UK gave a demonstration of the app followed by a discussion with a panel of experts, facilitated by Dearbhail McDonald. The panel included Emma Murphy, domestic abuse survivor and advocate, Detective Sergeant Laura Sweeney, Services Manager at Women’s Aid Gillian Dennehy, Vodafone Group Foundation Director Andrew Dunnett and Sean Cooke, CEO of Men’s Development Network.
Speaking on the launch of the Bright Sky Ireland app, Vodafone Ireland CEO Anne O’Leary said: “Unfortunately domestic abuse impacts many people across Ireland, with victims in some cases unable to get the support and guidance they desperately need. Following a successful rollout in the UK, I am extremely proud to launch Bright Sky in Ireland to provide victims here with a localised information and support portal. The app, developed by Hestia, with support from our partners in Women’s Aid Ireland and An Garda Síochána, is a very practical tool for people facing a variety of difficult situations. This launch also compliments the domestic abuse policy Vodafone introduced earlier this year for employees and managers to provide support in the workplace.
“Vodafone supports the wider cause in Ireland and wants to help highlight all forms of domestic abuse. With a third of Irish workers experiencing domestic abuse and one in five Irish women affected by domestic violence, vital supports for victims are of paramount importance to us.”
Patrick Ryan, CEO at Hestia, said: “We know that without access to specialist services, the long-term impact of domestic abuse can be devastating. Bright Sky was conceived in consultation with women living in Hestia refuges in 2015. Their lived experience led us to create a much-needed app which has now been downloaded nearly 20,000 times. We are delighted that Bright Sky will now be available here in Ireland to provide those experiencing domestic abuse, as well as friends and family worried about someone, with the information and support they need to break the cycle of abuse.”
Sarah Benson, CEO of Women’s Aid said: “As Ireland’s national frontline domestic violence service provider, Women’s Aid is delighted to team up with Vodafone Ireland, An Garda Síochána and Hestia to provide a practical and useful tool for women experiencing abuse from current or former intimate partners. Bright Sky Ireland offers key National Helpline information and details of local supports as well as information for family and friends concerned about loved ones.
A very important feature of the app is the myth busting information as well as quiz to help people recognise the signs of abuse. However, our biggest hope is that the ability to log incidents of abuse whether it is photos, text notes or recordings, will help women experiencing abuse gather the pattern of evidence they need to avail of legal protection and secure convictions of the new crime of coercive control.”

Garda Commissioner Drew Harris said: “A core function of policing is protecting the vulnerable. Anything that can help An Garda Síochána to combat the terrible and all too common crime of domestic abuse is to be welcomed. This app will help inform victims as well as providing a safe way for them to record incidents of domestic abuse, which could help secure prosecutions, particularly in relation to the new offence of coercive control. The partnership approach to the development of this app also demonstrates once again how multi-agency collaboration is critical to keeping people safe.”
Minister for Justice and Equality, Charlie Flanagan said: “Violence against women is a blight on our society, and we must be more willing to accept this uncomfortable truth, to be open about it and to confront it. I am therefore delighted that the Vodafone foundation, along with their partners Hestia, have developed this innovative concept, the Bright Sky app, to tackle it. The app will no doubt be a significant resource to those experiencing domestic abuse situations.
I know that An Garda Síochana fully endorse it, and that in developing it, Vodafone had the support of Women’s Aid. The way forward is for the State, community and voluntary services to work together to respond to this violence, by educating the public, supporting the victims and dealing appropriately with the perpetrators.”
Early this year, Vodafone Ireland launched its new domestic abuse policy that aims to support employees who are experiencing domestic violence or abuse. The first comprehensive programme of its kind in Ireland, Vodafone provides support to employees – including, up to 10 additional days paid leave, specialist counselling, management training and support toolkits. The policy also provides emergency financial aid such as salary advances and assistance for employees to set up a new bank account that allows financial independence.
