The Nokia 2 would be an entry level device offering that bit more and is one of the latest devices availble to buy from the handset portfolio. Currently it will cost you €89.99 on pre-pay but the Nokia 3 can be bought for more or the less the same across the networks and even cheaper. The NOKIA 2 though is a fresh model to think about and is on offer now for €29.99 if you switch to Vodafone which is not a bad deal at all especially if you have a spare sim lying about..

I have been a fan of VR since inception and when it launched it took off like a speeding bullet for a year or two then things became slack as a whole and new apps tapered off and it was looking gloomy with AR becoming the main focus, However some companies continue to bring goods to the table such as VRCraftworks.
VRCraftworks have brought us some really great apps since they launched and I have been following them since. Cast your mind back to Quark Expeditions and VR Drop and share for example and how this company works.
Today Jack Maddalena has made an announcement which is welcome in the VR community which will transform brands ability to offer a high-quality experience via your smartphone, effectively meaning you do not need to go out and spend big money on other hardwear which can be costly as we know and this also provides 6 degrees of freedom (6DoF).
Jack says…
For some time, brands have wanted to engage customers with a high-quality VR experience, but consumer access to required hardware is limited (content distribution).
To bridge the gap, we have created software that uses a smartphone and its camera to deliver a high-quality immersive VR experience. The 6 degrees of freedom is vital to allow freedom of movement in a 3-dimensional space.
Via a branded app consumers can engage with brands in an exciting and engaging way from their home, office, in-store anywhere.

The survey found that two-thirds of healthcare professionals believe 3D-printing has the capacity to fundamentally transform the health sector, with new printing technology already being used by 79% to improve accurate diagnostic rates and lower mortality rates.
Ricoh Ireland is today announcing the results of a new survey of 3,100 decision makers from across Europe, including Ireland, about how emerging printing technologies are helping to reshape industries and open-up new opportunities for businesses across all sectors.
In healthcare, two-thirds (66%) of professionals believe 3D printing has the capacity to fundamentally transform the health sector, and without investment in these technologies, 41% believe they will struggle to meet the needs of patients in the next five years. 79% of healthcare professionals also revealed that they are using new printing technologies to improve accurate diagnostic rates and lower mortality rates.
Future of Print infographic
In the retail sector, 60% said that they are currently investing in 3D printing technologies and 58% are investing in on-demand printing. Retailers claim that they are turning to more innovative ways of printing to drive competitive advantage, highlighting advantages such as reduced delivery times (83%), more delivery options (74%) and the ability to personalise products (72%).
The research also found that 39% of businesses across all sectors have adopted new printing technologies to enable AI and automation.
Gary Hopwood, Managing Director, Ricoh Ireland, commented on the findings: “The refrain ‘print is dead’ is utterly misguided. New printing technologies are helping businesses to transform their operations. In healthcare, pharmaceutical companies are manufacturing 3D printed prosthetic limbs tailored to specific patients. In retail, vendors are manufacturing shoes and printing unique designs on demand, reducing stock wastage. In education, students can buy personalised textbooks, reducing costs and improving learning.”
Gary Hopwood, general manager, Ricoh Ireland
Findings from the study emphasise the prevalent view that new forms of printing are crucial components in strategies for success. Decision makers highlighted improved agility (77%) and innovation (69%) as key drivers behind investment in printing technologies. Furthermore, 66% of business leaders fear that their organisation will fall behind competitors in the next five years without new disruptive printing technologies.
Hopwood continued: “Irish business leaders must rethink the role of printing within their organisation to unlock new revenue and growth opportunities. With so many exciting new ways to design, print and personalise products, decisions about printing have fundamentally moved from the back office to the boardroom. Evolving print capabilities are providing the foundations for improved strategic agility and major innovation advancements.”
On-site IT shredding provider DiskShred is announcing that, in association with the Irish Security Industry Association, it will run a series of free shredding days across Ireland to help organisations prepare for GDPR.
The company will visit Sandyford and Dun Laoghaire in Dublin on the 23rd May and Cork on the 24th May, providing businesses, clubs, associations and householders with the opportunity to dispose of paper records and hard drives free of charge prior to the GDPR deadline on the 25th May. DiskShred will also be announcing additional shredding events following the deadline.
As an EU-wide law, GDPR will require all members of the community and business owners to be aware of the risks when dealing with personal data. GDPR will give greater power to regulators to sanction companies that misuse personal data or fail to demonstrate transparency about how they utilise this data. Companies that attend the shredding events will be entitled to shred up to 10 bags of paper and 10 electronic devices, free of charge.
DiskShred helps its customers to eliminate reputational and regulatory risks by providing on-site shredding and a highly secure shred measurement of 20mm to ensure the complete destruction of confidential data and to eradicate the risk of data leaks.
On-site IT shredding provider DiskShred will run a series of free shredding days across Ireland to help organisations prepare for GDPR.
The company is a member of the ISIA Secure Data Destruction (SDD) Division, which comprises organisations that work with Irish businesses to promote the secure destruction of information assets. The division collaborates closely with its members to set standards to manage information security risk.
Albert Kelly, vice chairman ISIA (SDD Division), said: “Compliance with GDPR is essential for all businesses and organisations. These nationwide shred events will enable members of the community, as well as local businesses, associations and clubs to safely and securely dispose of confidential information and receive guidance on how to best manage sensitive personal data going forward. They will receive free advice on how to achieve compliance with GDPR and learn how to avoid substantial fines to safeguard the future of their organisation.”
Jeremy Bryan, brand manager, DiskShred
Jeremy Bryan, brand manager, DiskShred, added; “Organisations of all sizes need to be aware of their responsibilities in managing their client information. There is no safer way to destroy data-bearing media than through shredding media into particles of just 20mm. DiskShred can help organisations to get ahead of the new legislation and remain compliant and isolated from fines of up to €20 million or 4% of global turnover. Our tamper-proof process eliminates reputational and regulatory risks and the shred is carried out in front of the customer so that complete data destruction can be verified by both parties.”
