Bragi, the makers of the world’s first hearable is at it again! By collaborating with Mimi Hearing Technologies, all devices of The Dash product line are getting even smarter – and personalised.
The Dash series including the Dash Pro, the one and only ear computer in the market – with 27 sensors and its own operating system, now offers a truly personal music experience. Using the Mimi Defined TM technology, an intelligent hearing assessment embedded in the Bragi App, users can now create their personal hearing profile.
The music processing technology enables sounds replayed on Bragi devices or on devices connected to them to be dynamically adjusted to match the users individual hearing ability – music and audio input can now be heard clearly and with detail like never before.
Everyone’s hearing is unique and changes over time. Unfortunately, the audio data of a recorded song or file does not change, it is static. A deteriorating hearing ability causes people to hear those static sounds differently over time – they no longer perceive sounds as they were initially recorded. In order to overcome this challenge, Bragi partnered up with Mimi Hearing Technologies and integrated the patented Mimi Defined algorithm, a technology that intelligently assesses a person’s hearing ability with an on-board six-minute hearing test.
Based on the results of this test, audio sources or played back audio files, as well as the audio from streaming services such as Netflix and Spotify, are adjusted to be aligned with the user’s individual hearing if listened to through any product of The Dash series.
Once the hearing test is completed, users can control the intensity of the Music Personalisation by Mimi Defined via the Bragi App – all while the audio input is continually being adapted to the user’s individual hearing ability in real time. This unique sound personalisation technology can be easily included in the daily use of earphones, even while users are tracking running, cycling or swimming, the music they listen to will be personalised. Audio transparency can be used to choose whether a user wants to hear the world around them or not and connecting to the Bragi App also allows use of the integrated 4D-Menu to start and stop music, select playlists, change activities or take and end a call.
In addition to the music personalisation, the Bragi OS 3.2 update includes an improved connection procedure and a welcome tutorial. The Bragi Updater has also been upgraded, making it even easier for users to update the device.
The Bragi OS 3.2 software update, compatible with The Dash, The Dash Pro and The Dash Pro tailored by Starkey, is free of cost and will need to be accompanied by an update of the free Bragi App, available for Apple iOS and Android.
The Bragi Dash products are available from Currys in the UK and www.bragi.com worldwide with prices starting at £109.96

We’re well into the long days of summer 2018 and festival season is in full swing across Ireland, with well-known events like Another Love Story, Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann and Ireland’s favourite Electric Picnic coming up. But there’s one question on everyone’s lips: how do I make sure my phone battery lasts?
Whether you’re looking to take a video of the headline act, locate your friends among the sea of fellow festival revellers, or find out how to get home when it’s all over, it’s always a relief to know you’ve got plenty of charge left. A growing sense of ‘battery panic’ as your charge ebbs away over the course of the day can distract from the experience. We have covered plenty of ways to curb the battery anxiety with tech you can use and featured on RTE discussing the matter before but Sony have sent over some tips for you to check out..
Sony Xperia smartphones do come equipped with built-in features that help you conserve your charge for longer but, it’s always useful to have additional tips and tricks to help conserve your battery for as long as possible:
1) Disable location-sharing services You’re unlikely to want to use a maps app or hail a cab online if you’re on a campsite, so this is a sure-fire way to help you save battery.
2) Limit your connectivity Turn off Bluetooth and turn on airplane mode at times when you know you and your friends are all grouped together and won’t be needing to access the internet. Perhaps turn on airplane mode when you record your favourite artists’ performance, then turn it back off when you want to post the footage and images to social media.
3) Activate STAMINA mode Depending on your device and Android version, you’ll have either STAMINA mode or Battery Saver. This reduces battery consumption and increases standby time. STAMINA mode disables background activities and limits your Home screen to your most important apps.
4) Update your apps before you go New updates come with fixes and features that help keep your apps ticking along… and consuming less battery.
5) Turn off Wi-Fi If you’re on 4G, don’t send your phone roaming for the nearest Wi-Fi connection.
6) Choose your apps wisely You probably won’t need a takeaway app while you’re at the festival, and you might want to avoid your health and exercise apps while you’re racking up lots of steps walking between stages. Switch off data usage for the apps you won’t need.
7) Check which apps are costing you battery charge Go into your settings, tap Battery and then Advanced to see a list of which apps are draining your battery the most. Limit your usage of these apps and your battery life will improve.
8) Lower your screen brightness In bright sunlight, you might need your screen brightness turned all the way up, but when you’re in your tent it’s a good idea to switch it as low as you can while still being able to read comfortably.
9) Don’t be always-on It’s tempting to keep up with the news, read your emails, check your social media and watch the latest videos from your favourite YouTube channels… but then are you really at the festival? Switch off your notifications to save battery, checking your apps when you want to rather than when you’re prompted.
I am known for sporting top of the range smartphones and budget alike and use both, The smartphone market is seeing change now and change for the better if you ask me. We now have phones at the €1000 euro mark which many manufacturers seem to be following and it has become a race to see who an bring out the most expensive phone but people are not buying into it from where I sit.
Another trend which is the better option is mid range pricing for really good devices with the likes of One Plus for example being one and other brands are now following suit and for me this is where people will spend their money and it is proving popular. I love my phones and have a large collection but why would you spend the guts of a grand on a phone that one that is half the price can do, Is it for a status symbol or just one to say I have the latest. The latest does not mean its the best and to be honest i fell into that category but from testing phones you do not need to spend stupid money on a mobile phone anymore.
The next thing is now really good specs for phones sub €200 and it’s happening already but most of these are chinese devices which have to be imported and not available on networks anywhere so you have a problem straight away if something goes wrong and that’s returning it or whats called reverse logistics and this is a huge caveat for people importing devices or any tech for that matter.
Alcatel is a known company and have mobile phones out some time now and they are predominantly sold on tesco mobile and on some other networks, Tesco Mobile Ireland have a large portfolio of mobile phones from them offering a decent phone at a good price giving them an edge especially in the entry level sector. They have now however thrown a spanner in the works for budget smartphones with their new 3V has to offer off the bat.
The Alcatel 3V can be bought on Tesco Mobile UK right now and comes in several colours and for the price it has much to offer compared to the standard offering and I have been using one a few weeks now and I have to say I was expecting a “MEH” experience but suprisingly enough it was not and for the money you cant really go wrong here.
This phone might have a cheap build but it looks the part and covered up with a decent case this will see you a year no problem once you look after it and dont bog it down with apps, games and images and so which slow phones down over time. The phone would make an ideal first if this is your first Android smartphone or perhaps even a spare device to have at hand, the only gripes I have is the build quality and the RAM which for many its probably enough if you are the social media, email and browsing type it would not be suitable for heavy duty work and heavy multitasking but wil fly along switching between social media accounts and so on as mentioned above I am thought nitpicking here when you look at the cost.
The phone design is quite nice and blends in with current trends on the market its smooth all round but no sweeping edges which is now common but rounded well all over, On the back we have the typical camera set-up which again is decent for its price and the back has a shiny finish but this means fingerprints which is also a common trend today. The camera itself is a bit hit and miss overall but under the right conditions you will get decent snaps which you can check out in the video above.
On the right we have the power keyand sim tray/micro sd card slot and on the left is the volume toggle and all these keys are raised perfectly and have good tactile feedback. On the bottom we have a speaker grille and micro usb port and finally on top is the headphone jack. Overall performance on this device is actually quite good but you will need an SD card as it will slow down once you start loading games, photos and videos. For the money in fairness this is a good device bottled down by the usual RAM factor which can be reduced by using an SD card as mentioned. This device has much to offer for its pricepoint which is only showing flagship features are now moving past mid tier priced phones onto entry level but performance still lacks overall especially for multitasking.
Battery performance will be an issue if you tend to be a powersuer but this device is not aimed at such I could not get a full day out of it but I am a poweruser but the average user who likes social media, you tube web broswing and emails will easily get the full day out of one charge. The phone does come with a case which you will need as the device is mostly madeof plastic which would be a concern if dropped
