Pixel 8 features satin metal finishes, a polished glass back and comes in Rose, Hazel and Obsidian.

And on the back of the Pixel 8 Pro, a new temperature sensor lets you quickly scan an object to get its temperature. Use it to check if your pan is hot enough to start cooking or if the milk in your baby’s bottle is at the right temperature. We’ve also submitted an application to the FDA, to enable Pixel’s Thermometer App to take your temperature and save it to Fitbit.

More camera improvements

Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro feature powerful, upgraded camera systems for stunning photo and video quality, plus game-changing editing tools.

Every camera on the Pixel 8 Pro has been upgraded, starting with the main camera that captures better photos and videos in low-light settings. The bigger ultrawide lens delivers even better Macro Focus, the telephoto lens captures 56% more light and takes 10x photos at optical quality, and the front-facing camera now has autofocus for the best selfies on a Pixel phone.

And Pixel 8 has the same updated main camera, plus a new ultrawide lens that enables Macro Focus.

The camera app has an intuitive, redesigned interface, letting you quickly find and capture content in your favorite photo and video modes. And for Pixel 8 Pro, you’ll have access to Pro Controls, giving you more creative control of the Pixel Camera with settings like shutter speed, ISO, 50 MP photos throughout the zoom range and more.

We’ve all been in that situation where you have the perfect group photo, but someone isn’t looking at the camera. Best Take uses the photos you did take to get the photo you thought you took. To make that happen, an on-device algorithm creates a blended image from a series of photos to get everyone’s best look.
Magic Editor in Google Photos is a new experimental editing experience that uses generative AI to help you bring your photos in line with the essence of the moment you were trying to capture. You can reposition and resize subjects or use presets to make the background pop — all with just a few taps.
Audio Magic Eraser lets you easily reduce distracting sounds in your video, like howling winds or noisy crowds. This first-of-its-kind computational audio capability uses advanced machine learning models to sort sounds into distinct layers so you can control their levels.

Later this year, Pixel 8 Pro will get Video Boost, which pairs Tensor G3 with our powerful data centers to apply cutting-edge processing to your videos. It adjusts color, lighting, stabilization and graininess, and the result is stunning videos that look true to life. Video Boost also enables Night Sight Video on Pixel for better low-light smartphone video quality.

Features to help you save time and get things done

Now you can quickly get more context and dive deeper into a webpage. With Summarize, Pixel can generate a summary of a webpage, so you can quickly understand the key points. And your Pixel can even read aloud and translate webpages for you so you can listen to articles on the go.

Pixel is even better at understanding the nuances of human speech, so you can talk to it more naturally to get things done. If you take a pause or say “um,” it will wait until you’re done before responding. Use your voice to quickly type, edit and send messages, even if you speak multiple languages.

And with improved AI, Call Screen now helps you receive 50% fewer spam calls on average. It will silently answer calls from unknown numbers with a more natural-sounding voice to engage the caller. It’s also smart enough to separate the calls you want from the calls you don’t. And soon, Call Screen will suggest contextual replies for you to tap to quickly respond to simple calls, like appointment confirmations, without having to answer the phone.

7 years of updates to keep you and your personal information secure

Google Tensor G3 works with the Titan M2 security chip to protect personal information and make your Pixel more resilient to sophisticated attacks. And now, Face Unlock on Pixel 8 meets the highest Android biometric class, allowing you to access compatible banking and payment apps like Google Wallet.

With Pixel, you receive exclusive features and updates that keep your phone getting better over time. For the first time, we’re providing seven years of software support for Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro — including OS upgrades, security updates and regular Feature Drops.

6 Steps to Follow for Better Warehouse Organisation

Warehouse organisation is a crucial aspect of efficient supply chain management. An organized warehouse not only improves productivity but also reduces operational costs and enhances customer satisfaction. To achieve better warehouse organisation, you need a well-thought-out strategy and a commitment to maintaining it. In this blog post, we’ll outline six essential steps to help you streamline your warehouse operations and optimize your storage space.

Step 1: Conduct a Comprehensive Inventory Analysis

The first step toward better warehouse organisation is to conduct a comprehensive inventory analysis. This involves taking stock of all your products, their quantities, and their storage requirements. Utilizing inventory management software can make this task more manageable and accurate. By understanding your inventory, you can identify slow-moving items, prioritize popular ones, and allocate storage space accordingly. Additionally, this analysis helps prevent overstocking or understocking, reducing carrying costs and improving order fulfillment.

Step 2: Utilize Freezer Spacers for Cold Storage

Effective cold storage management is crucial for businesses dealing with perishable goods, particularly in industries like food and pharmaceuticals. Also, freezer spacers play a vital role in maintaining proper airflow and temperature distribution in cold storage environments. These spacers are designed to create gaps between pallets, allowing cold air to circulate evenly and prevent temperature fluctuations. By using freezer spacers, you can ensure that your frozen or refrigerated products remain in optimal condition, reducing the risk of spoilage and financial losses.

Step 3: Optimize Aisles and Walkways

Warehouse efficiency isn’t just about storage; it’s also about ease of movement. Optimize your aisles and walkways to ensure smooth traffic flow and minimize the risk of accidents. Consider using floor markings to designate pedestrian paths and forklift lanes. Keep emergency exits and fire safety equipment accessible and unobstructed. A well-organized layout reduces the time it takes to retrieve items, improving overall productivity. Incorporating dust extraction systems into your workspace can further enhance efficiency by maintaining a clean and safe environment, free from harmful particles and debris.

Step 4: Prioritize FIFO (First-In, First-Out) and LIFO (Last-In, First-Out) Inventory Methods

When it comes to efficient warehouse organisation, choosing the right inventory method is pivotal. FIFO and LIFO are two widely recognized methods, each with its own set of advantages. FIFO, or First-In, First-Out, is a method commonly used for perishable or time-sensitive goods. It ensures that the oldest inventory is utilized first, reducing the risk of product spoilage or obsolescence. This method not only helps maintain product quality but also minimizes financial losses due to expired goods. On the other hand, LIFO, or Last-In, First-Out, is suitable for products with a longer shelf life. It prioritizes using the most recent inventory first, allowing you to sell or distribute newer items before older ones. By understanding the nature of your inventory and implementing the appropriate method for each product category, you can enhance inventory turnover, minimize waste, and make the most of your warehouse’s storage capacity.

Step 5: Implement an Efficient Shelving System

Implementing an efficient shelving system is a pivotal step in the journey towards better warehouse organisation. Your choice of shelving units can significantly impact the accessibility and overall functionality of your warehouse. Opt for adjustable shelving that can adapt to varying product sizes, ensuring that every inch of storage space is utilized effectively. Utilizing bin locations and clear labeling on shelves and bins allows for quick and accurate item retrieval, reducing the time employees spend searching for products and minimizing picking errors. An efficient shelving system not only maximizes your storage capacity but also enhances the overall organization and productivity of your warehouse operations.

Step 6: Implement a Robust Warehouse Management System (WMS)

In the fast-paced world of modern warehousing, the implementation of a Warehouse Management System (WMS) is akin to the backbone of efficient operations. A WMS is a software solution that not only streamlines the management of inventory but also orchestrates various critical tasks within the warehouse. With its automated features and real-time data integration, a WMS empowers businesses to optimize their warehouse processes. From tracking inventory levels and their exact locations to orchestrating order fulfillment with pinpoint accuracy, a robust WMS takes the guesswork out of warehouse management. It enables barcode scanning for rapid item identification, forecasts inventory needs for efficient replenishment and prioritizes orders to meet customer demands promptly. Ultimately, a WMS is the linchpin that enhances accuracy, reduces errors, boosts productivity, and delivers the responsiveness needed to stay competitive in the dynamic world of logistics. Modula storage systems are perfect in this case as they provide the best WMS systems.

Better warehouse organisation is essential for businesses aiming to improve their supply chain efficiency, reduce operational costs, and deliver superior customer service. By following the six steps outlined in this blog post, you can create a well-organized warehouse that maximizes storage space, minimizes waste, and ensures a smooth workflow. Remember that warehouse organisation is an ongoing process, and regular audits and adjustments are necessary to maintain optimal efficiency and responsiveness to changing market demands.

Getting Started with Power BI: Practical Steps for Beginners

Given that we live in a data-driven era, it is hardly unexpected that analytics is a flaming hot topic right now. Analytics is the study, interpretation, and processing of data. However, there are many tools available for data and business analysts to pick from, making it difficult to select the right one for each project. Today, by concentrating on Power BI, a Microsoft analytics product, we will do our lot to facilitate that decision. Before learning how to learn Power BI, let’s start with the fundamentals.

What is a Power BI, and why is it a significant tool to learn?

When it comes to knowing what Power BI is, we’re digging into the answers to who designed it. It was developed by Microsoft. Power BI is a group of software services, apps, and connectors that collaborate to transform your disparate data sources into coherent, visually immersive, and interactive insights. An organization’s data is searched for information using Microsoft Power BI. It may assist in connecting:

  • separate data sets
  • transforming and cleaning the data into a data model
  • producing charts or graphs to show the data visually

Take a look at the Power BI step-by-step tutorial about its resources to gather, visualize, analyze, and exchange data. This tool gathers and examines pertinent data and then presents conclusions as graphs, reports, summaries, maps, and dashboards to give users precise and in-depth information about the status of the business.

What are the key steps of using Power BI for beginners?

Power BI makes it easier to make wise decisions, lowering the probability of failure and minimizing inherent hazards. Anywhere you have a mobile connection, the data that BI processes is available for viewing and engagement around the clock. Users may access, process, and share real-time data whenever they want, from any location.

Professionals in a wide range of roles utilize Power BI because it is so adaptable and jam-packed with valuable capabilities, including:

  • Designers
  • Developers
  • Administrators
  • Professionals (accountants, salespeople, and marketers)

Here are steps for using Power BI if you’re interested in analyzing your raw and complex data by using its valuable capabilities.

Setting Up Power BI on your desktop

There are three different versions of Power BI: Power BI Desktop, Power BI Pro, and Power BI Premium. We’ve created a table that compares these versions succinctly below. Select Power BI Desktop after clicking the Download button in the top menu bar. To install Power BI Desktop on your PC, click Get on the Microsoft Store page and then follow the on-screen instructions. From the Windows Start menu or the icon in the taskbar, launch Power BI Desktop. The Welcome screen appears when Power BI Desktop launches for the first time. You can get data, view recent sources, access recent reports, open other reports, or choose other links from the welcome screen. To exit the Welcome screen, click the close button.

Loading your Data Sources into Power BI

It’s time to upload your data once you’ve configured yourself with the desired version! You can import or connect to your data using the databases or files that are saved on your computer from the welcome page that you see above. Select the data type you want to upload, then click the “Get” button. After that, pick one of the many choices you have. Remember that you can obtain data from a variety of sources, including local files, OneDrive files, SharePoint site files, and more. Your file name will display as a tab under “Dashboards” on the left side of your screen once you click “Open” since Power BI will generate a dashboard.

Exploring Power BI Interface and creating your first data chart

Using Power BI, your experience is all about learning from your data. Therefore, it’s time to begin investigating those datasets when you’ve uploaded the ones you wish to use.

Natural-language queries, which Power BI now supports, make it simpler for you to extract value from the data you’re looking to examine. Natural-language searches don’t need any additional code or syntax; just put your inquiry in the search area in plain English, and Power BI will handle the rest. When you press “enter,” Power BI will create a chart that displays the information you selected.

Understanding Data Analysis Expressions through Your First Data Visualization

A report can be made in a few simple steps. The steps to put together your first report from start to finish are outlined below:

  1. Choose a pre-existing workspace or make one from scratch.
  2. Get data in the left navigation pane’s bottom section.
  3. Choose Files and go to the folder where you saved the information you want to use for the report.
  4. Click “Import”.
  5. Select “View dataset” after the dataset has been imported.
  6. The report editor is actually opened when viewing a dataset

You can see a white page and the tools for altering reports. Explore this area as much as you can.

Publishing Reports: Sharing Your Insights with Power BI

With the use of Power BI, you may acquire new insights from your data and see it in a fresh light. We’ve covered easy procedures to assist you in quickly uncovering insights from your data that can aid in smarter business decisions. You can share BI reports that have been prepared on the Power BI desktop with other business users. All BI data, reports, and dashboards may be shared with coworkers and business users within the company. However, you can also benefit from more powerful capabilities like in-depth modeling, real-time analytics, platform integration, and bespoke development. By learning more about Power BI, you can guide through these more complex options and demonstrate the value of it which can add to your company.

Tech Review – SoundMAGIC P60BT ANC Headphones

The SoundMAGIC P60BT ANC headphones is an affordable pair of cans that get the job done and rather than use keys to get things moving these are gesture based and work really well and sound really good for the price the company is looking for which is great news for the consumer and I have said it many times there is no need to go out speding silly money on headphones or be a brand loyalist and this is coming from someone who tests more headphones than most in Ireland.

These are comfortable to wear too and do not clamp on the head either nor sweat after hours of use, when I mean hours I mean hours, most times when new earbuds or headphones arrive I give them an immediate 4 hour test as I would head to bed a tune into my projector and watch movies and YouTube for the evening or sat on the couch.

The controls work really well and I have had no issues getting the action I wanted, some headphones like this can make you take several attempts to get what you want done and to be fair it is a matter of getting use to them too which is by no means hard, a few minutes on the head and you will pick it up quite fast. Also a really cool feature is one touch hits are ruled out here so if you happen to tap or rub of pillow etc when on couch they will not do anything unlike other headphones, some of which I am testing now and they tap the pillow and pause the media playing etc which is super annoying.

The Hybrid ANC technology uses internal and external microphones to reduce a wider range of frequencies when compared to standard ANC. With Ambient mode selected, ambient awareness is increased and users are able to hear their surroundings without having to remove the headphones. aptX HD compatibility as well as AAC and SBC means that users will get the best audio quality delivered from their device. And aptX Low Latency provides gamers with lightning speed wireless audio so they won’t miss a thing. Not so much a gamer myself however I have tried these with gaming for some time and they offer an excellent immersive experience and they do come with a small mic to add on if you want to talk to others when gaming which is better all round.

SoundMAGIC P60BT ANC Headphones – techbuzzireland

Overall the sound that comes from these is more than decent at the price level they are on offer for and I enjoyed testing these out, highs lows and mids all great, nice bit of bass and no distortion or tinny sound when maxed out, so for gaming movies music and more they do a great job, the call quality was not bad either. NO lag latency was noted either in all my testing.

There is also great battery life here which is to be noted meaning you will not be in a rush to charge them up and if so you can get 5 hours of charge with ten minutes charging via USB-C. The only thing missing here for me is an app which I hope they will do next time around.

Tech Review – Sharp XParty Street Beat (PS-949)

The Sharp XParty Street Beat (PS-949) is a large speaker that can get several jobs done at once and ideal for street parties and more hence the name and it is still portable too, given that it is not too heavy but it comes ready to move like a suitcase either way which is really handy. This is one of the biggest speakers I have checked out recently and it certainly makes a statement when it comes to sound let me tell you, if like me you have neighbours playing all kinds of rubbish on their tinny sounding speakers this one just comes out and takes over them all.

What is also cool with this is the lighting effects on it so it is no one trick pony and to add to it there is a mic built in and not is only that loud the speaker is loud and comes with some cool presets too which is ideal for the street party or if you fancy doing a bit of dj work and so on.

The speaker is well built and has several inputs and outputs on it too which is covered by a rubber flap on the rear, this is where you plug in the mic and it also has two USB – A ports and a regular 3.5mm socket, you can connect your device that way or via Bluetooth which is how I used it and is probably the best way, not only that you have an app to go with it which matches the top deck which is super cool and makes life much easier if you are in control of the speaker.

The controls are simple to use and laid out nicely on top with a disc type wheel for volume etc,, this gives you the real dj effect which I am not by any stretch but it is fun to use and the controls again straight forward and it is easy to switch between modes and sounds. Also up to is a spot to rest your phone or tablet.

The sound is excellent from this speaker and being big gives you big sound, the bass is excellent and the EQ settings are also excellent with a notable difference between them unlike other speakers I have tested asides the sound the light show it emits is also great which takes the boring effect from a speaker with no RGB effects, there was also no lag latency noted on this speaker and it certainly packs a punch when it comes to banging out the tracks and dwarfs most home speakers your neighbours might have.

Finally there is also around 13 hours of battery life so no matter where you go with it you have power on the go and it will last the day and you can charge your mobile phone with it too should you run low on juice.

The App

Shared electric bike company Bolt partners with Sligo council, Atlantic Technological University, An Garda Síochána & NCBI to discuss safe and responsible cycling with ATU students

European shared mobility leader Bolt has joined forces with Sligo County Council, Sligo Gardaí, ATU Sligo and the National Council for the Blind of Ireland to develop and put on a training school at the university where students can learn and practise how to use shared electric bikes safely and responsibly.

The Bolt Safety Academy will be open 12-2pm on Wednesday 4th October at “The Fish” on the ATU Sligo campus and will be the first of its kind in the country.

Attendees can test their knowledge with a localised online test about how to use and park a shared electric bike safely and responsibly across Sligo. In a move that demonstrates fruitful cross-industry collaboration, the content of the test was jointly developed with the NCBI, ATU Sligo, ATU Students’ Union and Sligo County Council. Attendees will then be able to put their knowledge into practice by cycling around campus with guidance from Sligo’s Community Garda team.

The Safety Academy is expected to be busy as it’s part of the Universities’ “Connect for Success”: Your First Five Weeks” orientation programme which is dedicating a week to highlighting the various health and wellbeing resources available to students on campus. To further encourage attendance and learning, Bolt is rewarding those who complete the test with 20 minutes of free Bolt cycling which can be used at a later date, whilst those who partake in the test ride will be given a free helmet. In order to encourage usage, attendees can personalise their helmet on-site.

The Estonian-based company is also taking the opportunity to debut a brand new safety feature called the reckless rider score. Bolt’s software will calculate if a bike is being ridden recklessly according to sensors which can recognise multiple behaviours such as skidding or abrupt braking. A user’s reckless rider score is evaluated every five rides. If it falls below a certain threshold, they will receive education, a mandatory lower speed and a suspension according to how long the score remains.

The objective of the Safety Academy is two-fold. It’s intended to teach students and locals how to use a shared electric bike service responsibly – Bolt’s service has received a warm reception since arriving in June 2022. The academy is also intended to educate how to engage safely with light electric vehicles more generally, with the legalisation of shared electric scooters expected by the end of the year. Bolt is the largest scooter provider in Europe with over 260,000 scooters and e-bikes in operation.

The credentials and presence of the Tallinn-headquartered firm continues to grow in Ireland. Though Sligo was the first town to embrace the shared electric bikes, there have been launches in Kilkenny, Wexford, Bray, Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown, and Carlow just a couple of weeks ago. Bolt intends to roll out the Safety Academy everywhere it has operations in due course.

In addition to the reckless rider score, it has a strong suite of technology that encourages safe, responsible usage. For those with no or little experience of bicycles with pedal assisted motors, Beginner Mode limits the top speed to 15 km/h, down from the normal 25 km/h. Though the service operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the company employs an in-app cognitive reaction test 11pm-5am. This means prospective riders have to prove they are in a fit state to ride a bicycle through their reaction time and, if they’re unable to do so, are encouraged to take a taxi instead (including Bolt’s very own on-demand service in Bray and DLR).

Cathaoirleach, Cllr. Gerard Mullaney said: “Sligo County Council have been impressed with the usage of the Bolt e-bike scheme. Since launch in June 2022, Sligo has had almost 7,000 unique users, with almost 200,000 kilometres travelled on the bikes. This usage is contributing to modal shift away from the private car, which is very positive in our endeavours to reduce emissions from transport. Sligo County Council welcomes the launch of the Safety Academy in conjunction with Bolt and ATU. This is a significant opportunity to promote safety and awareness, and encourage correct usage of the e-bike system.”

Sligo Councillor Marie Casserly said: “The Bolt e-bikes have been a great addition to the whole town, but especially for providing students and staff at ATU with better access to hassle-free transport. We want to make sure the bikes are being used in a safe and responsible manner so I’m delighted to be working with Bolt, ATU, NCBI, the Students’ Union and the Council to educate students and help keep them safe.”

Head of Public Policy for Bolt Ireland, Aisling Dunne, said: “It’s been fantastic to see our shared electric bike service be so embraced in Sligo. With darker, wetter winter months approaching, and the regulation of shared electric scooters expected this year, it’s especially crucial to continue to remind riders how they can keep themselves and pedestrians safe. We’ve been delighted to collaborate on this important work with such respected partners.”

Healthy Campus Coordinator ATU Sligo, Yvonne Kennedy said: “ATU Sligo, through our Healthy Campus initiatives, aspires to create a learning environment and organisation culture that enhances the health, wellbeing and sustainability of its community, and enables our campus population to achieve their full potential.

“Our partnership and support of the Bolt e-bike scheme, along with Sligo County Council, has been a very positive one for us. We have embraced the Bolt e-bike service with open arms – we have several Bolt bike stations located all around our campuses, making them a convenient and alternative mode of transport. There are obvious health benefits (both physical and mental) to using an e-bike – as a mode of transport to get to and from the college campus – but it is also much more sustainable, which aligns with our Green Campus goals.

“The ATU Sligo campus population is one of the biggest users of the Bolt e-bikes and we want to ensure that they do so in a safe and responsible way. Healthy Campus, along with ATU Sligo Students Union, were delighted to work with them in the development of the Bolt Safety Academy, and are honoured to have them here at ATU Sligo for the launch. It is crucial that our campus population use the Bolt e-bikes in a safe, responsible, and respectful manner and I would encourage all our on-campus users to take part.”

What is a Cryptocurrency and How to Start Your Own Crypto Project

The world of digital finance is rapidly evolving, with cryptocurrency at its forefront. It’s a brave new world, full of potential and challenges. This comprehensive guide will help you understand what a cryptocurrency is, why you might want to invest in it, and how to embark on your own crypto project.

Understanding Cryptocurrency: What is a Cryptocurrency?

Cryptocurrency. The word has been making waves in the financial world for a while now. But what is a cryptocurrency?

Cryptocurrency is a type of digital or virtual currency that uses cryptography for security. Unlike traditional currencies issued by central banks, cryptocurrencies are decentralized, meaning they operate on a technology called blockchain, which we’ll get into in the next section. The most famous cryptocurrency is undoubtedly Bitcoin, which was the first to implement blockchain technology and sparked the cryptocurrency revolution.

However, there are now thousands of other cryptocurrencies, collectively known as altcoins (alternative coins). Each one operates a little differently, but they all share the core principles of decentralization, encryption for security, and the use of blockchain technology. Cryptocurrencies can be used for a wide range of transactions, from buying goods and services to investing and beyond.

The Technology Behind Cryptocurrency: Blockchain Explained

Now that we’ve defined what a cryptocurrency is, let’s take a closer look at the technology behind it: blockchain. A blockchain is essentially a digital ledger of transactions that is duplicated and distributed across the entire network of computer systems on the blockchain. Each block in the chain contains a number of transactions, and every time a new transaction occurs on the blockchain, a record of that transaction is added to every participant’s ledger.

The decentralized nature of blockchain networks means that no single entity controls the data. Instead, all participants collectively maintain the network. This decentralization makes the system inherently resistant to fraud and hacking, as there isn’t a single point of failure that can be exploited.

Blockchain technology has far-reaching implications beyond cryptocurrency. It has potential applications in any field that requires secure, transparent transactions, from supply chain management to voting systems.

Why Invest in Cryptocurrency?

Now that you understand what cryptocurrency is and the technology behind it, you might be wondering: why should I invest in cryptocurrency? There are several reasons why investing in cryptocurrency could be a smart move.

Firstly, cryptocurrencies offer a high potential for return. Despite their volatility, the value of many cryptocurrencies has increased significantly over time. For instance, if you had invested just $1 in Bitcoin in 2010, that investment would be worth millions today.

Secondly, cryptocurrencies offer a level of freedom and control not possible with traditional financial systems. As a decentralized system, cryptocurrency is not subject to government control or interference. This means it can provide a level of financial freedom and privacy not possible with traditional currencies.

Lastly, investing in cryptocurrency can be a way to support the technology and the principles behind it. If you believe in the potential of blockchain technology and the benefits of decentralization, investing in cryptocurrency is a way to help make that future a reality.
