After failing to seal the acquisition deal of Twitch last year, Google is here to give a stiff competition to the Amazon owned Twitch with a brand new service, YouTube Gaming. Google should make this service from this summer.
People are already using YouTube to post gaming videos, and this will give them a dedicated home. More than 25,000 games will each have their own page on YouTube Gaming, which will collect the best videos and live streams about that particular title. The service will also have channels from game developers and YouTube creators. You’ll be able to easily add a game to your collection, letting you quickly get to the latest videos about it. As for channels, you’ll subscribe to get notified when they start a live stream. Recommendations will be shown to you based on the games you like, and search inside YouTube Gaming will be restricted to game-related queries.
“In the coming weeks” it will become simpler to upload your gameplay to YouTube, thanks to “an improved live experience”. And you won’t need to schedule a live event ahead of time anymore. Furthermore, you will get a single link you can share for all your streams. YouTube Gaming will come with a new website and app, which will feature gaming-related videos and live streams, powered by what Google calls “the biggest community of gamers on the web”. This service will first be accessible in UK & USA & later to the rest of the world.
Microsoft has been busy lately unifying it’s core apps to gel with the soon to be available Windows 10, that’s why today it announced to withdraw support from the modern Skype simplifying your PC experience down to one app that you can use either with your mouse and keyboard or with touch. Starting on July 7, Skype is updating PC users of the Windows modern application to the Windows desktop application, and retiring the modern application.
With the upcoming release of Windows 10 for PCs, it makes sense to use the Skype application optimized for mouse and keyboards use, capable of doing touch as well rather than 2 separate applications performing the same function. This is result of the feedback taken by the Skype team through its users.
Anyone trying to access the modern application on PCs starting from July 7 forward will be automatically directed to download the desktop application. If you already have Skype for Windows desktop you don’t need to do anything. Also, if you’re on a Windows RT tablet device, there is no change for you.
I have heard the term so many time before that 140 characters is not enough and off we go to another platform to have a waffle, well now that s no longer an issue as Twitter is removing the 140 character limit on Direct Messages,Twitter has been busy of late… So now you can say more and keep it in private too starting in July. Good…
“We’ve done a lot to improve Direct Messages over the past year and have much more exciting work on the horizon. One change coming in July that we want to make you aware of now (and first!) is the removal of the 140 character limit in Direct Messages. In order to make this change as seamless as possible for you we’ve included some recommendations below to ensure all your applications and services can handle these longer format messages before we flip the switch.”
We recommend taking the following actions in preparation:
Review the new API additions below.
Update your GET requests so you will be able to receive the full length of DM text.
Adjust your app UI to accommodate longer DM text.
You may be wondering what this means for the public side of Twitter. Nothing! Tweets will continue to be the 140 characters they are today.
Annoyed of the popping ads on the web pages?? Well you might soon have a solution to it with a blocker built into the Safari browser both on the iOS 9 and the Mac OS X El Capitan versions. The new functionality allows apps to give Safari rules about blocking cookies, images, other resources, pop-ups and other content.
Anyway, the content blocking functionality is present in the developer beta of iOS 9 and will be in Mac OS X El Capitan too. Blocking apps will be allowed into the app store later this year.
Twitter has been busy of late and now its added a new feature in which you can share the people you don’t like, hate, annoy or trolls/sub-tweeters and this is all well and good because if you block someone they can still see your tweets,so if i have blocked someone for example and i get a re-tweet the blocked person can see it or use another app to see the tweet,so twitter needs to sort the blocking process to begin with and that would be most welcome in my book..
Twitter says in its blog
You can now export and share your block lists with people in your community facing similar issues or import another user’s list into your own account and block multiple accounts all at once, instead of blocking them individually. We also hope these advanced blocking tools will prove useful to the developer community to further improve users’ experience.
To export or import a list of blocked accounts, navigate to your blocked accounts settings on twitter.com. Click on the advanced options drop-down menu and select the action you want to take.To download a list of your blocked accounts, select the export option and confirm the accounts you want to export.
The app i hate most has got a new feature for iOS. Snapchat as been around some time now and is mostly popular with kids and teenagers on Android and iOS.Windows phone users might see the app in 2020 as they continuously send law suits to those who make third party apps, they do not see the platform as a viable one and have recently said they might bring it to Windows, that will be the day you see pigs flying outside your window is how many see it..
Anyhow they have now updated the app so that you can chose between front or rear camera on you iphone,so iPhone users can only for now enjoy the new feature ,it probably will not be long before we see this option on Android and go know when that will happen on Windows
What’s New in Version 9.9.0
* Double tap the screen while recording a Snap to switch between the selfie and rear-facing cameras!
* Login Verification — when you log in to Snapchat on a new device, we can send you a SMS code to make sure it’s you! Turn on this feature in Settings.
* Battery filters — add a little something to your Snaps when you’re all juiced up 🙂 or low on battery 🙁
