It has now emerged that the reported rumors of Nokia coming back is untrue, this is getting rather annoying now even though its been reported widely by many in the tech arena,Nokia fans are anxiously waiting on Nokia to make a comeback but will it happen is another thing, after todays statement its kicked fans in the butt again. On writing about this week i did take caution by saying “reportedly” and rightly so due to several slices of news stating one thing one day and another the next so its a bit of a YO-YO scenario here when it comes to NOKIA at the moment,.
Nokia has stated the following.
“SUNNYVALE, Calif. – Nokia notes recent news reports claiming the company communicated an intention to manufacture consumer handsets out of a R&D facility in China. These reports are false, and include comments incorrectly attributed to a Nokia Networks executive.
Nokia reiterates it currently has no plans to manufacture or sell consumer handsets.”
Twitter have launched a new featured which enables you to receive DMs from ANYONE. This can be a good thing or perhaps a bad thing,as is i often get DMs from people i don’t follow and this is annoying to say the least and its always marketing companies or someone looking for money in one form or another. Personally i think think practice should be banned full stop giving some users more rights over other that are not even celebs,At that point i think everyone should be treated equally regardless, celeb or not you join twitter, you face the real world..
If you have updated twitter you will now see a prominent message box within the persons profile, before this you would need to tap another button to access the DM feature to the person you are following. Twitter thinks this move will gain more users and perhaps create more mobile revenue, also its said to make people connect more. Below is what you will now see on a person’s profile.
If you do not want to be spammed to death with messages you can simply turn off this feature in settings,It is turned off by default but i would still check this and the rest is up to you from there, for me it will be staying off, having had multiple messages already from people i do not follow is annoying and i do not want anymore.
Twitter say the following on their blog..
Direct Messages are the best way to take your public Twitter conversations private. Today, we’re changing how direct messaging works so that it’s even easier for you to communicate one-to-one or with a chosen group of people, anywhere in the world.
Communicating with people you may or may not know in real life just got easier. Previously, if you wanted to send a Direct Message to the ice cream shop down the street about how much you love their salted caramel flavor, you’d have to ask them to follow you first. With today’s changes, the ice cream shop can opt to receive Direct Messages from anyone; so you can privately send your appreciation for the salted caramel without any barriers.
Windows phone users no doubt have been left in the lurch here too with the new change only on Android and iOS.
What do you think of this new feature ? If twitter ever did a favour it would be to ensure the BLOCK button means BLOCK…

Ever wanted to keep a backup of your chats with friends or family on WhatsApp ??? Well if you really wanted to, there is a reason for you to be happy. The developers at WhatsApp have been hyper active in the past few days. They rolled out the voice calling feature earlier and now have given the users an option to back up their messages on Google Drive with the latest update.
Currently under testing WhatsApp now allows the users to backup and restore their conversation history and media to Google Drive. To activate Google Drive as a backup option, after installing the new updated version, users need to provide access to the Google account. Users can then select the frequency of backup and even whether the backup should be on Wi-Fi only or Wi-Fi and cellular networks. The service currently backs up only conversations and images, videos are not included.

Ok so an email from Nokia press arrived this morning with them discussing Alcatel Lucent, there is many rumours floating around and in this game there will continue to do so i think many people want to see Nokia standing firm once again in the handset business, also of late is speculation of the rumored sale of HERE maps so put 2 & 2 together here and sparks begin to fly. After the success of the N1 tablet which is hard to get these days its a sign,a good sign and one which its safe to say Nokia fans will want to see their NOKIA LOGO back on top of a handset, not a cheap handset from MS but a decent one from god knows who at this point. We all know this cant happen for some time but there is nothing wrong with planning ahead, the day cant come sooner for the majority..but is it for a return to the handset market? For now that’s a no. Down the road who knows.
Updated. Nokia have now purchased Alcatel-Lucent, read more HERE
