Instagram improves direct messaging.. you might use it now. #Instagram

Instagram have now improved direct messaging on the platform which might be good news for some, for me its a pointless idea unless you only use Instagram as a medium for contact,I use it myself now and was a huge hater against it but I use for for personal things mostly and would not live on it as much as Twitter for example,You can now exchange threaded messages and send posts you see in Feed to to one or more people as a message it also  supports private photo sharing, selfies and emojis,  Check out for the update now as its live  App Store and the Google Play Store.

Instagram says

Threaded messages make it easier to go back and forth with the people you talk to the most. Instead of creating a new conversation every time you send a photo or video, your threads are based on the people in them — and your moments flow along naturally. We’ve also added the ability to name your groups, a quick camera feature to respond with a selfie on the fly, and larger-than-life emoji for when there are just no words.

Today’s updates also bring a brand new way to start conversations around what you see on Instagram. When you find something inspiring or funny, your first instinct is often to share it with friends who you know will appreciate it. Today, people do this by @-mentioning friends in comments, so much so that nearly 40% of comments include an @-mention. This update has made it easier to share content that you love.

Now, you’ll find an arrow next to the like and comment icons under every post. Tap it to send that post to a friend or group as a message using Instagram Direct. It will appear as part of your conversation, and you can tap the photo or video to see and like the original post. You can also send hashtag pages and location pages by tapping the arrow icon in the top right-hand corner.

Archos announces the 5.5-inch Diamond Plus. #Archos #IFA2015

Archos have announced a new 5.5 inch phablet although the brand would not be that familiar here in Ireland it would be more so in  other regions ,this device does have a Huawei look to if if you check this walkthrough“There’s no reason customers should have only one model option in our quest to offer 4G/LTE smartphones to a greater public. Offering a larger-screened product with a slightly different design gives ARCHOS customers more diversity and choice,” says Loic Poirier, CEO of ARCHOS.

The ARCHOS Diamond Plus offers all the hallmark traits of the prestigious Diamond line — an Octa-Core processor, 4G/LTE connectivity, great cameras, and more — in a new silver design featuring a gorgeous 5.5” inch FHD IPS screen with full lamination. Sleek, thin, with a slightly curved silver back-casing, the ARCHOS Diamond Plus is immediately eye-catching, especially with its bright screen illuminated.

The Octa-Core Cortex A53 1.5GHz processor in the ARCHOS Diamond Plus smartphone is among the highest quality hardware available in smartphones today. With industry-leading power, this processor seamlessly powers apps, games, and web browsing. All of this content can be stored in the roomy 16GB of storage in the device, which is easily expandable up to 32GB with a MicroSD card.

It also has fast charging capability to be fully ready as soon as possible. Its two cameras clock in at 16MP for the back camera and 8MP for the front camera. A fiveelement lens of the back camera prevents distortion, and the very wide angle of the front camera is perfect for selfies.

The  Diamond Plus will be available in November 2015  for £179.99

Robin. The smarter smartphone. Cloud First Mobile. #Robin #Nextbit #Kickstarter

Robin is a new kick starter project which is set to put cloud first and it will run on Android and comes bloat-ware free when I first seen it at a quick glance I said it looks like one of those fancy bottles of perfume, that does not mean it does not look nice,it actually does and its different, its also good to see different too…  I think its actually really nice…. Already though some have complained its got no wireless charging but for the price its got plenty to boot.. Wireless charging has still not hugely tool off here in Ireland anyway and that didn’t stop people buying devices without the feature….

The specs detail is not shabby either  –

  • Processor: Snapdragon 808
  • Memory: 3GB RAM / 32 GB onboard / 100 GB online
  • Screen: 5.2” IPS LCD 1080p
  • Rear Camera: 13MP with phase detection autofocus, dual tone flash
  • Front camera: 5MP
  • Battery: 2680 mAh
  • Dual front facing stereo speakers
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • NFC
  • Quick charging
  • Bluetooth 4.0 LE ,WiFi A/B/G/N/AC  –  GSM 850/900/1800/1900  – WCDMA 850/900/1800/1900/2100  -LTE Bands 1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/17/20/28

Nextbit. Say “We made a smartphone that brings the power of the cloud to everyone with an integrated cloud OS. We made it because we’re tired of waiting on others. Because we believe in a cloud-first future. And because no one else was making the phone we wanted. This is the phone we want, and we think you’ll want it too. Smarter. Powerful. Bold. And, direct to you.”

Robin manages your power based on what you use and supports quick charging. Even when it’s connected to the cloud, Robin won’t drain your battery. It only backs up when you’re plugged in and on Wi-Fi unless you say otherwise. And it doesn’t use any extra power to make more space when you need it.

Check it out over on Kickstarter  Will you be thinking of buying this device ??  Jimbo Likes this…..

Prevent break-ins before they happen with #MyFox Home Smart Alarm.

We like to think our homes are safe and indeed most are but at one stage or another we either will be broken into or know of someone who has been, from this time of year onward typically break-ins rise due to the dark hours approaching us.. Well now there is a new product called Myfox Home smart alarm.. With this you can manage your home security from your smartphone..

With the world’s first motorized privacy shutter that’s controlled via the phone’s app, the Myfox Security Camera provides security when you need it and privacy when you’re at home. Myfox developed the innovative idea behind the non-intrusive camera by studying user feedback from previous generations of cameras sold in Europe, which found that 30% of users were unplugging their cameras when they were at home in an effort to increase privacy. The camera setup takes just 90 seconds and with the Myfox Security App, users can keep close watch on their homes no matter where in their world they are.

The camera provides one hour of battery back-up and a 1080P video sensor with CVR capabilities, two-way audio and 4x zoom, among all of the other features that you’d expect from a best-in-class security camera. With its sleek design and lightweight portability, the Myfox Security Camera integrates seamlessly into any home’s decor.

Set up takes only minutes and you can trust others to share information to,there is no wires to worry about and the system works with intellitags and wifi and that’s it,rather a simple process with no hassle at all…this also works with Nest..

The Myfox Security Camera becomes part of a proactive security system with its integration into the Myfox Home Alarm. The 4th generation IntelliTAG™ smart sensor uses vibrational algorithms to detect and alert of a break-in before it occurs. It’s smart enough to tell the difference between a break in attempt and a ball bouncing against the door and can be used on any opening. We conducted a user survey and found that 80% of break-in attempts were deterred thanks to the IntelliTAG™ triggering the siren. Once triggered, it sounds the Myfox Home Alarm and sends an alert to your smartphone or even alerts friends and family, allowing you to call the authorities. The Myfox key fobs provide a truly connected experience, as they can be personalized with usage case settings for each member of the family. Each key fob also automatically disarms the entire Myfox system when arriving home – no codes or alarm setting necessary, which makes for a security system that people will actually use.

Facebook launches virtual assistant called M #Facebook #M

Facebook has jumped on the virtual assistant bandwagon now with an assistant called M..This for some means Money or Ads in which comments suggest and it will be a matter of time before we find out,its only in a beta stage at the moment and im sure we will find out more soon.

But are digital assistants useful or do we like them ?? Personally I don’t use them,I find them a gimmick and I have tried them all but the novelty wears off quite quickly to be honest, its just not my cup of tea,Windows has Cortana for example although not official in Ireland we need to change some settings it is also now on Public beta on Android and of course we have Siri for Apple so those who use these assistants might find it welcome news..

David Marcus says  M is a personal digital assistant inside of Messenger that completes tasks and finds information on your behalf. It’s powered by artificial intelligence that’s trained and supervised by people.

Unlike other AI-based services in the market, M can actually complete tasks on your behalf. It can purchase items, get gifts delivered to your loved ones, book restaurants, travel arrangements, appointments and way more.

It will be interesting to see what this holds in the future and for now only a select amount of people are trialling the new digital assistant will be integrated into the Facebook Messenger app. No date has been given as to when it launches but stay tuned for updates..

Microsoft teases with prototype called #DisplayCover to enhance productivity by @Tiwaash #MicrosoftAppliedSciences

Everyone loves a smart, stylish, compact and powerful device which surely adds to the productivity manifolds and this is where tablets came in and then there came powerful tablets to ease the work and this resulted in Surface Pro 3 a powerhouse. Well you might be wondering why am I talking about this, it’s because of the latest research from the folks at Microsoft Applied Sciences.

Looking to further bridge the gap between slate and laptop, Microsoft Applied Sciences built a prototype device it calls the DisplayCover: a keyboard cover that houses an e-ink touchscreen display. The 1,280 x 305 resolution panel not only provides access to app shortcuts, but it can also handle touch gestures for navigation and accept stylus input. The e-ink display material was selected because it wouldn’t put too much added strain on battery life like a full-color touch panel would. It’s interesting to take a look at what companies are doing to make efficient use of small screen sizes for maximizing productivity.

The stylus feature seems to make things like signing documents and scribbling notes a breeze, based on the demo video. In the case of an app like Photoshop where you need constant access to tool palettes, those items can be parked at the top of the keyboard so they don’t take up valuable space on the tablet’s display.

Really looking forward to this awesome feature rich display which is very handy. Let us know what you feel about this in the comments below.

Stay tuned for more tech buzz.
