Microsoft announce a “Switch to Windows Phone” App. #Microsoft #Android.

Yes you read that correctly they have announced a Switch to Windows Phone App its akin to Transfer My Data. Ok I still use WP daily but now alongside Android and Blackberry but considered the amount of people that have jumped ship over the last year and the fact there has been no flagship in almost two years fans are not happy to say the least with the continued low to mid tier handsets now available,but with Windows 10 almost upon us that will change everything wont it,well we will soon find out and hopefully all the rumours of a flagship floating around are true and we actually see one or two THIS year..

The app is set to make life easy for those who want to switch from Android to Windows and is now available to download..BUT it could have been much better in what its offering right now so hopefully it will be improved in the coming months…

1) WiFi: if you’ve already set up your Windows phone. You’ll be able to move your contacts, text messages, photos, videos, and music over directly using virtual Wi-Fi and an app that you install on your new phone.
You do not need any network, real WiFi router or account. But you need to install a Windows Phone app on your Windows Phone. The name of the app is “Switch to Windows Phone”.which you can get HERE

(2) OneDrive: if you haven’t set up your new phone yet. You’ll create a backup copy of your bookmarks, photos, videos, and apps, which can be downloaded automatically when you set up the new phone.
You need network connection and an Microsoft account.

Satya Nadella cleans out senior staff at Microsoft,Stephen Elop is one of them. #Microsoft

Ever since Satya Nadella took on the roll in MS all its been is cut,cut cut ,not only devices or products but people,good people too and today once again new breaks of his latest shelling of staff..

Most of us know that Stephen Elop is now one of them,though some suggested his tenure at MS would be short-lived ,now the day has come but he remained there much longer than some anticipated,so where will he go now ??? This remains to be seen and shall be interesting over the coming weeks..Satya emailed his staff and this is what he had to say regarding Elop.

When Stephen Elop returned to Microsoft, he oriented MDG to create the best Microsoft experience through its devices, inclusive of hardware, software and services. He has been a strong advocate of the need to drive focus and accountability around the delivery of these experiences and has helped drive tighter alignment toward the ambition of more personal computing. With the structural change described above, Stephen and I have agreed that now is the right time for him to retire from Microsoft. I regret the loss of leadership that this represents, and look forward to seeing where his next destination will be.

Microsoft announces Cortana for iOS and Android. #Cortana #Android #iOS

Microsoft has just announced that Cortana will be available for Android and iOS,sounds good alright,yet its 2015 and still no official version here in Ireland.Currently there is a workaround which everyone knows but we should be well past this stage now since last November we where told it was coming soon,6 months is not soon….However Cortana will not be as powerful as it is on Windows Phone but will provide much of the basics there and then. It is expected on Android in June and later on in the year for iOS. Cortana is a digital assistant similar to the likes of siri on iOS..Some find these assistants gimmicks and some love them,the choice is yours to use these assistants or not.

Microsoft Hyperlapse has just been announced for Windows Phone,Desktop and Android although its not a new technology users will be delighted to avail of the app no doubt which will give users stabilized time lapse videos which will be much more pleasing to look at .

You can import old videos,take selfies,and select your speed whilst recording video moving the camera and on Hyperlapse Mobile you can hyperlapse a video multiple speed rates from 1x to 32x,there is not many settings to toy with for now so hopefully it will improve over time.Overall it will make creating videos more fun.
