Bo M – The World’s Safest And Most Stylish e-Scooter, comes to Ireland

Bo, maker and developer of the world’s safest and stylish urban micro-mobility vehicle, announces its first international expansion into Ireland, one of Europe’s most progressive transport nations with Lifty Electrics confirmed as the official Dublin based retailer and service centre.

Bo co-founder and CEO Oscar Morgan said; “Whilst the UK sadly lags behind much of the world in legalising the use of e-Scooters on the public roads, Ireland has taken that exciting first step in embracing a new era in how we travel through cities such as Dublin”.

He continued: “Since Ireland announced the legalisation of e-Scooters back in May 2024 we have been making regular visits to meet riders in Dublin and Cork. With production of the Bo M now in full flow, we are excited to announce Dublin as our first direct expansion into an international market”.

In 2024, the Irish Government cemented Dublin’s status as a hub for progressive transport solutions, making it the ideal first international market for Bo’s expansion. The passing of The Road Traffic and Roads Act 2023 created a new vehicle class for e-scooters called powered personal transporters and legalised their use on public roads from the 20th May 2024. Dublin was carefully selected for Bo’s expansion due to the city’s forward-thinking urban mobility strategies, including efforts to reduce car use, the recent legalisation of electric scooters, and its extensive bike lane infrastructure. The Irish National Transport Authority has, however, just introduced legislation restricting e-scooters from public transport, applying brakes to the wider sector, but not for the bo M which is designed for end to end journeys, with it’s exceptional riding dynamics, extended range, and lifestyle enhancing features, like Lock and Load.

Bo exists to create the single best way to travel in the city. Over the past four years, the Bo M has been painstakingly designed and engineered to reach this ambition.

Bo was founded by two engineers, formerly of Williams F1 Advanced Engineering, and a Jaguar Land Rover designer, giving the company a fundamental understanding of vehicle dynamics and manufacturing, which has been uniquely applied to the Bo M, the first product in a transformative range of Bo lightweight electric vehicles.

The Bo M showcases a ground-up focus on robust and intuitive features, designed in order to improve every urban journey. It utilises the ultra-tough fixed Monocurve Chassis and the unique patented Bo SafesteerTM technology to create a confidence-inspiring ride, combined with category-leading motor torque and power ratings, plus novel functional innovations to deliver the most sophisticated urban riding experience of its kind.

Monocurve Chassis and Design

Bo’s unique Monocurve chassis represents a foundational shift in vehicle design and engineering – the single greatest sector advancement since electric scooters arrived in our cities. The Monocurve chassis is a single piece of high strength Aluminium, from the handlebars to the wheels, which not only benefits the ride by providing the most solid and planted ride feeling in its class, but also seamlessly integrates all of the features into a singular beautiful form.

These intuitive, unbroken lines of the Monocurve chassis create the first unibody structure in this sector, designed to true automotive principles, seamlessly combining function with design. The design allows for the steering to be separated from the chassis, forming a robust mounting point for the Lock and Load cargo solution whilst also providing a stable platform for Bo riders.

Bo co-founder and CTO Harry Wills, said; “We want to make wobbly e-scooters a thing of the past so intentionally designed the Bo M with an unbroken Monocurve unibody chassis to provide the most robust, confidence-inspiring ride experience possible. We’ve equipped the M with technology we have  developed from the ground up that truly enhances the urban riding experience, day or night, rain or shine, hilly or flat. From the occasional rider who needs to nip into town, to the super commuter riding 30km everyday, the Bo M establishes itself as the most dependable, mature urban vehicle“.

The precision engineering approach is equally evident on the Bo M’s geometry, which is optimised for stability and ergonomics. Technical features include a wider handlebar at 580mm, a generous 930mm wheelbase for noticeably more standing room and relaxed riding handling, and a 76-degree steering angle for naturally controlled dynamics.

Bo co-founder and CCO, Luke Robus said; “We believe in the pursuit of simplicity. Form working in harmony with function to create sculptural lines that are as exciting to ride as they are to look at. From the early sketches to prototypes and through to the production vehicles, the M’s lines come together without complication. This is testament to the rigorousness of our first-class engineering team integrating all the technology we’ve packed into the M. Never cluttering, or getting in the way of the product’s purpose, instead celebrating this new found simplicity with a design language you’ll see in evidence across the range of lightweight EVs we have planned for the future”.

Bo SafesteerTM

SafesteerTM technology is a world-first in micro-mobility vehicles, a dynamic steering stabilisation system developed by Bo to set the benchmark for control and inspire rider confidence. This patented technology, fully integrated within the Bo chassis, assists and stabilises the steering through bumps, dips and potholes to keep the rider in perfect comfort and control. Novice and experienced riders often cite stability as their primary concern when riding over mixed terrain. Bo’s Safesteer™ technology gives a seamless, stable ride and builds confidence at every turn, allowing everyone to enjoy the ride and carve down the road.

SafesteerTM delivers the smoothest and most stable ride while at the same time achieving a new benchmark in mechanical simplicity and reliability. The system is based on opposing force from a pair of bespoke wound torsion springs, housed within a unique Bo mechanism that delivers predictable steering correction up to a 50 degree turn angle. This system works to recreate the natural centering dynamic of a larger wheel and smooth the ride to give Bo riders an exceptional, natural riding experience every time.

All-Weather Capable

Bo M is designed to be our riders’ go to urban vehicle no matter the weather or time of day. The electrical components throughout are a minimum of IP66 waterproof while the high quality pneumatic tyres ensure the maximum grip possible. Bo M features a powerful, low maintenance braking system, with a regenerative e-brake located in the rear wheel, controlled by the left brake lever, adding energy back into the battery under braking and a front sealed drum brake controlled by the right brake lever. The two brake levers give the rider highly intuitive control over which brake to use and when, depending on the situation and the desired feel.

Bo’s distinctive Daytime Running Light (DRL) wraps around the Monocurve chassis to create the Light Halo, a world-first in the sector, which delivers 270-degree light visibility. This signature design dramatically increases road presence and awareness from other road users by ensuring both the Bo M and rider are visible from every angle. Complementing the Light Halo, a powerful headlight with up to 800 lumens from three temperature-controlled LED lights housed in an aluminium enclosure, illuminates the road ahead, while a wide-angle high-lumen rear light keeps riders visible from behind in all weathers, flashing brightly under braking.

Performance

Showcasing a blend of performance and elegance, the Bo powertrain features a high torque motor (38Nm), providing a peak power output of 1,200W and a top speed of up to 35 km/h (21 mph) (limited to 20 km/h for Irish compliance), with a battery capacity of 672Wh delivering a range of 50km. The Bo team is based out of Bristol, a famously hilly city in the UK, and ensuring impressive hill-climbing performance was a core requirement of the powertrain development programme. The bespoke high current electric motor has been optimised for strongest mid-range torque, maximising efficiency across the broadest rpm-range possible, and the precision throttle map allows for excellent control of output of power and responsiveness. Tested on hills up to 25 degrees, this performance specification results in silent, controllable acceleration, with the necessary power to take on the most challenging of roads.

Lock and Load

Bo’s all new Lock and Load system is incorporated within the Monocurve Chassis and features dual purpose revolving hooks that act as both secure locking points for the vehicle as well as stable cargo carrying solution. With the hooks mounted through the core structure of the chassis, cargo of up to 10kg can be securely carried, negating the need to hang anything on the handlebars or risking bag swing disrupting the steering, increasing the safety, control and comfort of each ride. The forged hooks are at the optimal height for locking to bike racks or railings, enhancing the physical security when locking up in town.

Airdeck

Introducing an intelligent, lightweight and invisible comfort system, the Airdeck, an engineered elastomer footpad, has been created from 11mm EVA anti-vibration foam based on the same material technology found in high performance running trainers. The lightweight deck panel is tuned to reduce road vibrations, removing the need for complex, heavy and largely ineffective suspension systems and increasing the riders comfort on longer rides by isolating the feet from any vibrations that result from the road surface.

Pricing and Availability

Customers can order the Bo M from https://bo.world/pages/select-your-bo starting Wednesday 16th October and in-store at Lifty Electrics, 157 Capel St, Dublin. The Bo M is available in silver for €2,349.

“We strongly feel that waving goodbye to the customer at a point of sale – be that for an eBike or eScooter; online or in the Golden Ride flagship store – just isn’t good enough. As a community-focused company we want to be with the customer throughout their ownership journey, making sure their chosen eMobility products remain at optimum operating levels across all key attributes – safety, reliability, functionality and performance. Our all-encompassing maintenance and servicing program guarantees total ‘peace-of-mind’ for the customer.”

Golden Ride implements total customer care

The new maintenance and servicing program launched by Golden Ride gives the burgeoning UK eMobility market access to a complete and high-tech aftersales service for eBikes and eScooters that is also dedicated to total customer care.

Overseen by leading eMobility technicians based at Golden Ride’s flagship store in London, the maintenance and servicing program has been designed to operate on a highly efficient yet detail-driven basis, offering customers access to high-level electric and mechanical eMobility engineering expertise.

A state-of-the-art electromechanical workshop – currently under development within Golden Ride’s flagship store – will soon become the brand’s hub for its all-encompassing aftersales, maintenance, servicing and customer care initiatives. When completed, the workshop will be equipped with advanced technologies and industry-leading tools.

The service, which has been designed to be rapid, launches with customers not needing to make any prior appointments – the Golden Ride technician team are on-hand each day during the flagship store’s regular business hours. Alternatively, customers can also message the technician team via WhatsApp on 07549 390 561.

A detailed diagnostic examination is performed on the customer’s eMobility product – the cost of which is just £25.00; this initial fee is then deducted from the price of the maintenance and service operations should the customer at that stage wish to proceed.

To maintain the highest safety standards of eBikes and eScooters, it’s advised that a safety inspection is undertaken between major mechanical services. As part of Golden Ride’s new aftersales customer care package, the brand’s complete safety inspection service sees the customer’s eBike or eScooter comprehensively assessed for state of health, functionality and performance.

Following the evaluation, the eBike or eScooter is then restored and advanced to optimal working conditions. This tailored customer care initiative comprises a full safety check of the frame, wheels and brakes – including a thorough inspection for damage and movement; frames and forks analysed for imperfections; wheels and tyres examined for wear; wheels and rims assessed for condition of use; chain tested and lubricated; and the gears and brakes optimally tuned.

‘Out with the old, in with the electric’ exchange

Golden Ride’s compelling ‘Out with the old, in with the electric’ offer has been extended in the lead-up to the busy Christmas period.

The exchange presents customers with the opportunity to take their old non-electric bikes into Golden Ride’s flagship store in London for an accurate pricing evaluation undertaken by the company’s expert eMobility tech team. The valuation of the old non-electric bike is then used as credit and exchanged for a new Golden Ride eBike or eScooter.

Philippe Grousset, director of operations for the Golden Ride flagship store in London, added: “Golden Ride’s journey into the UK market is only 12 months old but in that time we’ve made incredible progress: we’ve invested in a physical flagship store in London; we’ve launched a range of eBikes including our outstanding Classic Touring Bike; and we’ve recently introduced the A6 Pro, an eScooter that is already proving to be very popular. Today we’re adding the next element to the brand’s eMobility vision: comprehensive maintenance and servicing packages tailored for the customer.

“And by extending our ‘Out with the old, in with the electric’ exchange service, Golden Ride is continuing to support the growing eMobility community, helping as many people as possible to embrace sustainable micro-mobility solutions that will help revolutionize and revitalize our urban landscape.”

ZEUS Urges Irish Government to Put Safety First in E-Scooter Regulations

In a bid to foster innovation and prioritise safety, Ireland’s only homegrown eScooter micromobility company, ZEUS Scooters, has been at the forefront of discussions with industry and the Irish government regarding proposed regulations that may inadvertently hinder progress.

ZEUS, who currently operates in more than 60 cities in Europe and the UK, has diligently communicated concerns about the government’s intention to impose a weight limit of 25kg on e-scooters. Unfortunately, it appears that a crucial misinterpretation by the Irish government of the EU’s motor insurance directive has occurred, leading to a potentially stifling restriction rather than an incentivised safety measure.

“ZEUS stands as a champion for safety and innovation in the e-scooter industry. Our commitment to providing a secure and reliable mode of transportation is reflected in the exceptional safety record of our 3-wheeled scooter, proven to be significantly safer than the European average for 2-wheeled shared scooters,” says Damian Young, CEO of ZEUS Scooters.

Contrary to the EU directive, which merely requires insurance for e-scooters exceeding 25kg, the Irish government’s current approach risks excluding a multitude of cutting-edge e-scooter models that prioritise durability and incorporate new technologies. ZEUS operates a 3-wheeled scooter that, by design, exceeds the 25kg limit due to its enhanced sturdiness and safety features.

“Our 3-wheeled scooters are not just a mode of transportation; they represent a commitment to safety, durability, and technological advancement. We urge Transport Minister Eamon Ryan and the Irish government to reconsider these restrictive regulations. By embracing sturdier scooter designs, we can create a safer environment for riders while unlocking the economic benefits that the e-scooter industry promises for Ireland,” adds Young.

Incident reporting demonstrates that ZEUS’ 3-wheeled scooter is verified to be significantly safer than the European average for 2-wheeled shared scooters. This outstanding safety record emphasises the need for a more nuanced approach to regulations that considers the inherent safety benefits associated with sturdier scooter designs.

Moreover, these regulations threaten to impede Ireland from reaping the rewards of a swiftly expanding industry, one poised to generate employment opportunities nationwide and invigorate foot traffic in city and town centres. Numerous studies have underlined the positive impact of e-scooter adoption on local businesses, making them an indispensable component of urban mobility solutions.

ZEUS calls on the Irish government to prioritise safety over arbitrary weight limits and to embrace the technological advancements that make e-scooters not only safer but also more resilient. By doing so, Ireland can position itself as a leader in fostering innovation, supporting local economies, and ensuring the continued growth of the e-scooter industry.

The team at ZEUS remains committed to working collaboratively with the government and City and Town Councils to find a balanced approach that considers both safety and the potential for economic growth. Together, we can create an environment that encourages innovation, job creation, and the development of a sustainable and safe e-scooter ecosystem for all.

ZEUS Partners with UCC to Unveil a Cinematic Revival and Micromobility Future

ZEUS, Ireland’s leading homegrown micromobility company, proudly announces its partnership with University College Cork (UCC) for the Irish premiere of the restored silent-era classic, The Signal Tower. Last shown in Cork in 1925, this timeless film returns to the big screen for a free gala screening, with live musical accompaniment by one of the world’s leading silent-film musicians, Stephen Horne, at the Aula Maxima in UCC on Tuesday, November 21.

The gala evening, supported by ZEUS, celebrates the convergence of history and modernity. As Ireland’s largest homegrown micromobility company, ZEUS looks forward highlighting the transformative role of e-scooters in Ireland’s urban mobility and contributing to the nation’s future by offering sustainable and convenient alternatives for short-distance travel.

Expressing enthusiasm for this historic collaboration, ZEUS CEO Damian Young stated, “We are thrilled to be part of the revival of such a significant piece of cinematic history. The Signal Tower’s return aligns seamlessly with ZEUS‘ commitment to connecting the past and future, just as our e-scooters are poised to revolutionise transportation across Ireland”.

The restoration of The Signal Tower is a testament to the dedication and international dimension of film preservation and was led by Photoplay Productions and the San Francisco Silent Film Festival. Robert Byrne, President of the San Francisco Silent Film Festival and an award-winning film restorer with a history of collaboration with UCC’s Department of Film and Screen Media, will introduce the screening and will also deliver a masterclass on film restoration on Wednesday 22nd November.

Golden Ride launches all-new high-tech eScooter

Golden Ride, the high-tech electric micro-mobility brand from globally renowned sustainable mobility pioneer Terravision Electric, has launched an all-new state-of-the-art eScooter in the UK.

The A6 Pro combines an array of leading attributes that make the Golden Ride eScooter an exciting choice for consumers, in the process ensuring it has a unique standpoint in an urban mobility sector that is already congested and largely repetitive in terms of product offerings.

Setting the A6 Pro apart from current eScooter products available in the UK is its compelling combination of being an affordable zero-emissions mobility solution that has impressive real-world performance; an advanced electric drivetrain; outstanding safety and comfort features; and a contemporary aesthetic that is not only immersed in Golden Ride’s Italian heritage but also takes on a form that is practical and flexible.

Designed specifically for the urban mobility space, the A6 Pro’s competitive pricing point doesn’t come with a compromise on real-world performance capabilities.

The eScooter has more than ample range to navigate with ease around large cities such as London. The A6 Pro’s 25km range makes it possible, for example, to go from the iconic Clapham Common in South London to the serene Hampsted Heath in North London on one charge and with plenty of power to spare. Likewise, the A6 Pro’s range also connects East to West London, allowing for a journey from the Olympic Park to Kensington High Street to be seamlessly undertaken. The electric drivetrain is rated at 350W allowing for fast acceleration and a top speed of 25km/h. The battery pack, which features a full battery management system overseeing critical safety functions, takes six hours to recharge, with the battery’s voltage being 36V – 7.5Ah.

The A6 Pro features three ‘driving’ modes, further underscoring the eScooter’s wide-ranging adaptability in a variety of urban environments. There is the ‘Economy Low Gear’ mode that caps a speed limit of 6km/h, making the eScooter highly applicable for leisurely outings, social rides and in congested city centres where total safety awareness is paramount. The second mode is ‘Normal Mid Gear’ that allows for a top speed of 15km/h, transforming the A6 Pro into a mobility solution that is ideal for when quick errands need to be made. The final drive mode – ‘Fast High Gear’ – allows for the range-topping 25km/h maximum speed to be achieved, making the A6 Pro the perfect urban transportation companion for people on-the-go. An added feature to the Golden Ride eScooter is cruise control, which serves to boost journey convenience and ease of travel.

The A6 Pro’s sleek aesthetic allows it to seamlessly fit into the stylistic and contemporary urban environment landscape. A functional depth to the eScooter’s design further compliments the streamlined treatment, ensuring a hassle-free commuting experience thanks to an easy-to-fold operation that is performed in just three quick and simple movements, meaning that the eScooter can be carried trouble-free onto busy and crowded trains.

Weighing just 16kg, the A6 Pro has optimal dimensions – 1,127mm height; 440mm width; and 1,190mm length – to allow it to take an impressive maximum payload of 100Kg.

“The launch of our all-new eScooter – the A6 Pro – has come at just the right time for people in the UK that are living, commuting and working in busy and polluted urban environments. The Golden Ride team has designed and developed the A6 Pro to be a gamechanger – an affordable zero-emissions mobility solution that comes with no compromise, be that in performance, design, safety, technology, functionality and rideability,” said Niccolò Petroni, commercial director at Golden Ride.

“In the A6 Pro, the UK market has a compelling new eScooter proposition that will positively impact and enhance metropolis areas and communities up and down the country, including in iconic cities such as Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester and Sheffield.”

The high-tech A6 Pro eScooter is now available to order either at Golden Ride’s London flagship store or via Golden Ride’s digital space.

Delivering the ultimate in portability and convenience, the FlowfoldTM equipped Series 1 unfolds a world of possibilities.

The Series 1 also delivers best in class safety and comfort. FlowfoldTM technology means LAVOIE can use a longer, wider deck than other e-scooter manufacturers – while still folding down to a handily portable size. The wider deck and longer wheelbase ensure the Series 1 delivers a safe, smooth automotive-like ride, with a choice of foot positions and transformed bump and vibration absorption. With FlowfoldTM, comfort and handling are elevated to a whole new level.

Thanks to FlowfoldTM, the Series 1 can also accommodate taller handlebars, with a higher-stem angle – more akin to that of a motorbike. McLaren Applied engineers have leveraged their motorsport and automotive expertise to deliver smooth, predictable, easy to modulate steering, which, teamed with the scooter’s exactingly honed ergonomics, offers unrivalled rider comfort and total control.

FlowfoldTM also enables the Series 1 to drop into the game-changing ‘Park Mode’- further elevating convenience for the user. At the push of a button the Series 1 can drop into its intermediate stance: a perfectly stable, padded resting position, for seamless storage wherever you go. The era of the kickstand is officially over.

LAVOIE CEO, Eliott Wertheimer, said: “As a team, we’re really proud of the FlowfoldTM system – it’s the piece of engineering that sets our Series 1 e-scooter apart from the competition. By approaching the premium e-mobility sector from a new perspective – leveraging our experience in motorsport and automotive – we’ve been able to develop a transformative piece of technology that opens up a world of possibilities.

“FlowfoldTM has given us the freedom to innovate and lead the market, creating a premium e-scooter that sets new standards for the micro-mobility sector. The Series 1 is a user centric product that delivers best in class safety, convenience and performance – one that’s set to change the landscape of urban mobility.”
