Revolut starts rollout of responsible Pay Later instalments product beginning with Ireland

Revolut, the global financial superapp with more than 18 million customers worldwide, is rolling out its responsible pay later product, ‘Pay Later’ in Europe as it continues to expand its suite of products to help people get more from their money. Revolut Pay Later is the first pay later product in Ireland that uses an approved credit limit, designed to focus on affordability. Revolut puts the customer in control of when they want to use Pay Later for rather than being restricted to certain merchant partnerships.

Beginning this week, some Revolut customers in Ireland will be eligible for early access to Pay Later, which will gradually roll out to all users in Ireland – where 1.9m adults have a Revolut account. Pending the sign-ups for Pay Later, Revolut will look to offer the product in additional markets from the end of 2022 and beyond, with Poland and Romania to be the next markets gaining access to the product later this year.

Qualified customers can use Pay Later for purchases up to a maximum of €499, with any of their Revolut cards, including when paying with a Revolut Disposable Virtual Card which provides an extra layer of security for online transactions.

Customers can spread the cost of a purchase across three monthly instalments with the first instalment paid upfront by the customer at the time of purchase followed by two monthly instalments. The fee of 1.65% per purchase is repaid as part of the final two instalments. Fully integrated within the Revolut app, once approved, customers can activate Pay Later on-the-go with one tap in their Revolut app. Customers can view their Pay Later balance in the Cards section and in the Pay Later hub. If a customer would like to repay the instalments early, there are no additional fees to do so.

Whether it’s a new washing machine, hotel booking, or a birthday gift, customers can use Pay Later at any merchant that accepts Revolut online or in store. Unlike other pay later products, merchants do not sign up to Revolut Pay Later, and Revolut does not charge them for Pay Later transactions.

Revolut checks customer affordability by linking to customers’ existing bank accounts through Open Banking. Revolut will assess customer suitability and affordability for ‘Pay Later’ through an underwriting process. The current maximum credit limit is €499, but each customer will have their own bespoke limit as decided by Revolut’s credit assessment.

The new product also features built-in safeguards to check that users can afford their Pay Later limit. Unlike other pay later providers, Revolut is able to offer a more robust assessment as it approves the credit limit before the transaction rather than offering an instalments payment method at the point of sale.

Pay Later is another tool to help customers manage their spending all from one app. The Buy Now Pay Later market in Europe is set to grow to £680bn over the next five years.  Revolut’s ‘Pay Later’ offering meets the growing consumer demand for this personal finance tool, while offering it in a responsible way, with a heavy emphasis on customer affordability and suitability. Pay Later joins the suite of innovative products Revolut will be delivering to solve for all of its customers’ credit needs.

Joe Heneghan, CEO Revolut Europe, commented: “Pay Later is an exciting and fast-growing area of personal finance and consumer spending, and we are excited to add Revolut ‘Pay Later’ to our financial superapp.

“Revolut Pay Later gives our customers more control and flexibility over their personal finances, in a responsible way, by enabling them to spread the cost of purchases over three instalments. This encourages people to pay within two months, rather than calling on overdrafts and credit cards which don’t carry the same emphasis on quickly paying back the amount borrowed.”

Apricale resets the automotive engineering paradigm with revolutionary hydrogen powertrain

Pioneering cleantech engineers, Viritech debuted their revolutionary hydrogen powertrain technology in the form of the Apricale, the world’s first zero-emission hypercar to achieve weight parity with petrol-engined competitors, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed today.

Performance with Purpose

Apricale is the first car in the world to achieve zero-emissions hypercar performance, with a weight of only 1,000kg. This transforms the driving experience of the Apricale. it combines the agility of the best petrol-engined hypercars with the instant response of an electric motor. Indeed, the electric drivetrain means it is actually more responsive than a traditional hypercar.

However, the Apricale does more than simply transform the electric hypercar. With the combination of a light weight and zero emissions, it opens up a new world of sustainable transport. Many vehicles cannot function with a powertrain that weighs more than an equivalent internal combustion engine. Until now, such vehicle categories have been excluded from the move to zero-emissions powertrains, as batteries are always heavier than internal combustion engines – and the higher the power requirement, the bigger the difference.

The powertrain of the Apricale represents a historic landmark. It proves that a zero-emissions powertrain can offer the same power, the same weight and the same range as an internal combustion engine.

Re-imaging FCEV

The ambition to overcome all the compromises of zero-emission vehicles required Viritech’s engineers to completely reconsider how fuel cells and batteries function together. Matt Faulks, Viritech’s CTO explains, “Hydrogen fuel cells have, until now, been used as range extenders for powertrains with batteries at their heart. We’ve essentially turned that approach on its head, developing a powertrain around multi-hundred kW fuel cell system supported by a lightweight but highly efficient battery. This delivers hypercar performance for Apricale, but at less than half the weight of typical BEV hypercars.”

Faulks continues, “Not only does this reduction in weight transform Apricale’s driving dynamics, but our reduced reliance on batteries means less demand on rare earth minerals.”

The multi-hundred kW fuel cells are combined with unique Ultra High Power lithium-ion cells developed by technical partners, AMTE Power and Viritech’s patent-pending intelligent energy management system, Tri-Volt™. While the fuel cells provide the main motive power for Apricale, the battery provides additional power for acceleration and ultra-high performance driving, as well as a highly-efficient storage for regenerative braking energy.

The Tri-Volt™ Energy Management System and Viritech’s patent-pending power electronics enable a continuously variable mix of energy from both the fuel cells and the batteries. In addition, the very fast charge and discharge batteries enable the regenerative braking system to recover many times more kinetic energy than a traditional battery electric vehicle.

Until now, hydrogen has been another key weight problem. To withstand the 700 bar pressure, most hydrogen storage tanks have a weight efficiency of only around 5% (ie 5kg of hydrogen requires a 100kg storage tank). Viritech’s engineers developed a radical solution. Viritech’s patent pending Graph-Pro™ technology uses lightweight composites and a graphene-enabled resin system, allowing the tanks to form part of the structural element of the Apricale monocoque. This solution minimises weight, improves packaging and provides a projected range of over 350 miles/560 kms before refuelling.

The Chassis, Unshackled

The fact that Apricale weighs only 1,000kg means that it can escape the handling constraints of a BEV hypercar. The suspension features all-round pull-rod torsion bar suspension with a limited degree of active ride control.

With a low polar moment of inertia, the car will have the dynamic characteristics of a classic mid-engined supercar with minimal weight transfer under steer, yaw and pitch.

There are two drive motors (one on the front axle, one on the rear). With its sub-1,000kg weight, there is limited requirement for torque vectoring, so the driveline uses a pair of mechanical differentials.

The unique combination of light weight and the instant response of electric motors means that the Apricale will be even more inspiring to drive than a traditional supercar.

Future Technology fused with Timeless Design

The Apricale revealed at Goodwood today was originally conceived as a reference design by Viritech, and optimised by Pininfarina.

Silvio Angori, CEO of Pininfarina describes the design as ‘a synthesis of technology, sustainability, beauty, and above all, performance.’ Viritech is extremely proud of working with perhaps the greatest name in automotive design, a partnership which embodies the Apricale’s mission to take the heritage of the hypercar, and completely reinvent it for the future.

Alongside the development of the Apricale’s styling, Viritech is in discussion with Pininfarina to build the limited production run of just 25 examples at its atelier in Cambiano in Turin.

With stunning looks, Apricale will not just be seen, but also heard. Matt Faulks explains that ‘cars must be imbued with personality’ and to that end, Apricale will have its very own distinct and futuristic sound emanating from the fuel cells and electric drivetrain.

Delivered in 2024

Apricale’s key technologies including the drivetrain, the Tri-Volt™ EMS and the Graph-Pro™ structural storage vessels have already been validated in two mule vehicles that have successfully undergone testing. Experimental prototype 1 (XP1) will provide the final sign-off process for the powertrain. While XP1 will test for 100,000km, it will overlap with a production prototype, intended to validate all aspects of Apricale during 2023, so that Viritech can commence customer deliveries in early 2024.

Scalable Technology

The technologies developed by Viritech are highly scalable. Viritech focused on the Apricale for their first application since a hypercar platform makes the most significant demands of power, weight and packaging. Proven in Apricale, the powertrain technology is being developed by Viritech for a diverse range of sustainable transport applications.

Matt Faulks, Viritech’s CTO said, ’Apricale has enabled us to completely reassess the benefits that different energy vectors offer. Until now, engineering choices have been finite and compromised, but adding hydrogen into the mix offers a whole new array of capabilities that we have aimed to optimise with a new approach to FCEV. Apricale is going to be spectacularly exciting for its owners and we truly hope marks a new chapter in powertrain technology. It is great to see that vision realised at Goodwood today.’

Timothy Lyons, Viritech’s Founder said, ’Viritech is focused on becoming the world’s leading developer of hydrogen powertrain solutions and the Apricale, with its requirement to optimise weight, space and performance, provided us the perfect development platform for our core powertrain technologies, which have also been designed for broad application in the coming age of sustainable transportation.’

Esri Ireland’s interactive map celebrates Pride in Ireland

How Technology is Changing the World of Gambling: The Future of Online Lottery

It is no secret that technology has changed the way we live our lives. We can now do things that were once impossible, like gamble online, play the lottery and check the official Irish Lotto results from the comfort of our homes. In this blog post, we will explore how technology is changing the world of gambling and discuss the future of online lottery. Stay tuned for an exciting look at the future of this industry!

Lottery Before Technology

The lottery has been around for centuries and was originally created as a way to raise funds for the public good. In the early days, lotteries were only held sporadically and were not very popular. This changed in the late 1700s when lotteries became more organized and began to be held more frequently. As the popularity of the lottery grew, so did the number of people who started to gamble on it.

Lottery with Technology

With the advent of technology, gambling on the lottery has become even easier and more convenient. Nowadays, there are numerous online lottery platforms that allow players to buy tickets and check results from anywhere in the world. This has made playing the lottery more accessible than ever before and has resulted in a significant increase in the number of people who gamble on it.

Thanks to technology, the term lottery has a whole new meaning. Using the internet, you can do everything from buying tickets to checking results and even playing games. Although the lottery has been around for centuries, it is only in recent years that it has become so popular and widely available. Let’s take a closer look at some of the ways technology plays a role in the world of lottery today.

Buying Lotto Tickets Online

One of the biggest changes that technology has brought to the lottery is the ability to buy tickets online. In the past, if you wanted to play the lottery, you had to go to a physical store and purchase a ticket. This is no longer the case thanks to online lottery platforms. Now, you can simply log onto your computer or mobile device and buy a ticket from anywhere in the world.

This is a huge benefit for players as it allows them to play the lottery without having to leave their homes. It also means that you can play the lottery even if there are no physical stores in your area. All you need is an internet connection and you’re good to go!

Checking Lotto Results Online

Another big change that technology has brought to the lottery is the ability to check results online. In the past, if you wanted to know whether you had won the lottery, you had to wait for the results to be published in the newspaper or on television. This could take days or even weeks!

Nowadays, thanks to online lottery platforms, you can check your results as soon as they are published. This means that you no longer have to wait patiently for days or weeks to find out if you’ve won. You can simply log onto your computer or mobile device and check your results within minutes!

Joining Lottery Groups Online

One of the most popular features of online lottery platforms is the ability to join lottery groups. In the past, if you wanted to pool your resources with other players, you had to do so in person. This meant finding people who lived near you and who were also interested in playing the lottery.

In today’s modern world, finding people to share your lottery experience with is as easy as joining an online group. There are numerous groups available that allow you to pool your resources, discuss strategies, and even chat with other members. This makes playing the lottery more fun and exciting than ever before!

The Future of Online Lottery

As you can see, technology has had a major impact on the world of gambling. Thanks to the internet, the lottery is more accessible than ever before. It is also more convenient, thanks to features like online ticketing and result checking. But what does the future hold for online lottery?

Currently, there are a few different scenarios that could play out. The first is that online lottery continues to grow in popularity and becomes the norm for how people gamble on the lottery. This would result in more people playing the lottery and even more money being wagered on it.

Another possibility is that online lottery platforms become so popular that they eventually replace traditional physical lottery stores. This would mean that the only way to play the lottery would be through an online platform. In fact, this is likely to be the case with an expected market size of 92.9 billion dollars USD by 2023 for the online gambling industry, according to Statista.

Finally, it is also possible that a combination of both scenarios plays out. In this case, online lottery platforms continue to grow in popularity, but physical lottery stores still exist alongside them.

Final Thoughts

No matter what the future holds, one thing is for sure: technology will continue to play a major role in the world of gambling. Thanks to technology, the world of gambling is changing rapidly and there is no telling what tomorrow will bring

Tech Review – Toperson WiFi and Bluetooth 5G HD Home Portable Projector (YG421)

Projectors are popular and the market now caters for it rather well when it comes to choice and price however in the projector market it is really a get what you pay for sceen for the most and this is down to several things like Screen size, lumens and features, most projectors have got a built in store to download apps whereas this one does not but on another note it has features that others don’t so it is really down to the consumer and what they want to get from a projector.

OK so you might panic and wonder how this works with no store on board, most projectors have a store such as the Google store and the majority with have the Aptoide store which has the same and probably more in offerings for apps as I have found many apps will not work with Google on Projectors but the aforementioned store does all third party apps to work and they work well, I have both these instances at home on my projectors so I can see it from both sides here.

How does it work then

If you have a phone or tablet you can simply cast your device, ok so you may have to give up a phone to cast so if you had a spare phone about here is where to use it, it also has ports on the rear to support just about anything so PC or games consoles work with no problem at all it is a simple plug and play and that is it, you select what source from the home screen menu just like you would a standard tv these days and job done.

The Size

This is a big projector but not huge like some can it is portable and works with bluetooth and WiFi so it can be used anywhere and once you have a connection you simply connect and again plug in any console or connect any phone, it is that simple, this is on the larger size though but not that big it can’t be managed it is in the middle you could say when it comes to projector size, My main 4K projector would be considered small.

The picture

Ok so what you need to look out for in projectors is lumens, in tech speak that is the light emitted from the projector and how bright it is this is a key factor you may often also see ANSI lumens or Lux brightness, all this may confuse people and these terms can be used to fool people so do your homework, in this instance the terms used are in a good manner and it is a brighter screened experience than most at this price point which is good to say.

There is no auto focus or keystone here but you have two controls on the lens to do that and is a small price to pay for such caveats in fairness, the picture quality is rather good and again better than most of the chinese imports you tend to find or even some known brands you may find locally here in Ireland for up to 500 euro or so. You can get up to a 200 inch screen but 100-120 is for the best result.

Is it worth the money

Well to be fair and honest this one is. You can see the set up and samples below in the review so you do not have to struggle on setting up if you do decide to pick one up, there is screen brightness settings on board this which is omitted from many others at a higher price and certainly lower which gives it the advantage and given there is no store on board it works well with either your phone or consoles connected regardless and it is simple to use.

The sound

The sound is decent enough though this depends on the source and there may be some distortion at maxed out volume, you can listen to music too which is good. You can attach external speakers to really change the game which I would suggest anyway.

CWSI won the contract and designed a Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) solution based on Ivanti Cloud technology. This has enabled the seamless rollout and management of nearly 1,000 iPad devices across ŠKODA’s 130 UK retailers. As well as providing a collaborative, centrally managed platform for these point-of-sale devices, the secure solution underpins the company’s revolutionary retail experience for customers – the Digital Assistant app. CWSI worked closely with the development team in the creation of the app and its insights were crucial and shaped how the app was developed.

Following the rollout, retailers can host virtual appointments via the iPads with customers who may not wish to visit the showroom, or give vehicle tours to customers from the comfort of their homes. Additionally, ŠKODA saw an uplift of +0.4 in the customer experience score when an iPad was used. It also saw a similar uplift in salesperson knowledge scores. CWSI’s deployment saves valuable time for employees by providing all necessary information at their fingertips. The mobile and adaptable nature of the managed iPad solution is also ideally placed to support remote or hybrid working.

CWSI manages the lifecycle of the fleet of iPads from procurement right through to decommissioning. CWSI has Ivanti Premier Partner status as well as one of the largest in-house teams of accredited Ivanti engineers and support analysts in the UK. CWSI also provides point of contact support and manages repair should a technical issue arise, ensuring business continuity.

Chris Batty, Digital Experience Manager, ŠKODA UK: ŠKODA is known for producing some of the best cars on the market and we needed a customer experience to match that. We required an all-encompassing solution and through leveraging modern technologies, we have built an industry-leading sales tool. Enabled by CWSI’s management solution, customer satisfaction scores have increased and sales teams are more empowered.

“Ultimately, the solution is helping to drive profitability for the brand and is now an integral part of the ŠKODA customer journey.”

Ronan Murphy, CEO, CWSI: “Having previously worked with CWSI, ŠKODA knew we could be trusted to deliver the next phase of its journey. CWSI provides a fully managed proactive service for the devices which requires no action on ŠKODA’s part, which is something retailers appreciate as they can focus on their core business.

“This leading mobility solution with best of breed security, compliance, device management controls and functionality has amplified the customer experience for ŠKODA. It has future proofed the company’s retail operation, underpinning the Digital Assistant app and truly allowing sales employees to be product experts. Our own product team is continually monitoring potential enhancements to Ivanti’s products and any other changes that may affect ŠKODA’s solution. The adaptable, scalable deployment was built with the future in mind.”

Konftel Expands Video Kit Portfolio With New ‘Conferencing Flavours’ For In Room PC-Based Market

It is already generating lots of interest and excitement.”

He concluded: “Konftel continues to innovate and move forward. All our products are Climate Neutral certified and we have some further new developments in the pipeline to help us remain at the forefront of the industry. More details will officially be announced soon.”

6 Obvious (and Not-So-Obvious) Advantages of Online flutters

Online casinos have become ubiquitous recently, with millions of people playing online slot machines and other games on a daily basis. Each of them opts for such a pastime for a certain reason. Bonuses are the most luring ones. Sections like https://betinia.com/ie/promotions offer rich assortments of promotions. Still, in this article, we will study the most evident advantages of online gambling and will ponder over some of them which can be less straightforward.

  1. Financial prosperity

It is common knowledge that many people start gambling with the idea of improving their financial situations. Indeed, lucky players win thousands and even millions of dollars.

Sure enough, this is a rather rare occasion, and there is a high risk of losing much more by the time you finally seize a major prize. However, many experienced gamblers manage to have small but regular wins, which gradually accumulate and make their owners richer. The main thing is to stick to a safe playing strategy and not to get allured by risky options. Besides, most online casinos offer various freebies, such as the first deposit bonus, which helps players kick it off with as small investments as possible.

  1. Emotional recharge

Gambling goes hand in hand with adrenaline, so for many users, playing roulette or poker is like engaging in extreme sports. This is a fascinating way of making life more interesting and escaping from everyday routine.

This is probably why some gamblers develop a somewhat addiction towards casino games and tend to make them the key aspect of their lives. Yet, with due discretion and moderation one can easily continue gambling without risking to overlook their work, family, and friends.

  1. Anywhere, anytime

One of the unquestionable advantages of online gambling is that you can play wherever and whenever you feel like. Most online casinos are available on tablets and smartphones, so the only thing you need is an Internet connection.

A possible drawback of such simplicity and availability is that people often play while walking or even at work. It is quite understandable: why not indulge in some gambling when you seem to be doing nothing important or are simply bored, especially if your first deposit bonus is already waiting for you? Still, try to remember that business always comes before pleasure, and gambling will cause you no trouble.

  1. Learning opportunities for newbies

Traditional casinos are rarely visited by inexperienced gamblers since such establishments provide scarce opportunities to learn how to play. People simply tend to avoid doing something they feel uncomfortable about.

Online casinos, the other way round, offer numerous gambling tips. Each game’s description contains detailed rules, and demo mode is often available. Hence, gamblers can easily get a foot in the door without risking their time and money.

  1. More reward points

At most online casinos, each recharge makes you entitled not only to extra cash (be it a welcome bonus or the first deposit bonus) but to the so-called reward points as well. They accumulate in your account and can subsequently be exchanged for secret games and other benefits.

Such a policy makes online casinos available to players notwithstanding their financial opportunities and renders gambling more profitable. Land-based casinos do sometimes offer similar reward points but they generally take much longer to add up.

  1. Better winning odds

Few people know that, according to the statistical data, online gamblers win more often than the visitors of traditional casinos. The reason is simple: online gaming establishments have a larger player base, and there are no limits on the number of people who can play a particular game simultaneously.

This is why online casinos generally offer much higher prizes. To cap the matters, online gamblers can play more often than in land-based casinos, and the selection of games is wider online, so the odds to win are quite impressive.
