Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has helped AIB life, the newly formed joint venture between Allied Irish Banks plc and Great-West Lifeco, launch operations in Ireland with a future-ready, digitally enabled, platform that supports its vision to help people on their path to financial security, one step at a time.

TCS was selected as the strategic partner to help build a digital first, full-service life company for the Irish market. TCS helped create a modern, cloud-based technology stack ground up, with its flagship insurance platform TCS BaNCS™ at the core that gives AIB’s 3.2 million customers the ability to access financial advice and a range of integrated AIB life protection, pensions, and investment products in their branch, by phone and via the AIB mobile banking app. The solution also integrates with AIB’s nationwide network of 120 financial advisors from whom customers can seek financial guidance.

Tech Review – JMbricklayer Chameleon 70124

If you are into lego or similar JMbricklayer should be a place you stop and take a look at, last year we checked out the 3-in-1 medieval weapon and it sits nicely on one of my window ledges today, this time around they have tuned things up a bit and have a bit more tech involved and a tougher challenge and for those who like nature this is a chameleon.

This guy is really cool but you will of course need some spare time to sit down and get this one done as there is more parts to it and has lots of detail in it and when you see the finished product you will be happy you spent those hours sitting down and it took me a whole day with breaks in between to get the job done.

The model includes a rainforest inspired base and a chameleon that hugs on the trunk. The reptile’s pose freezes in a moment of prey capture, with its head slightly lifted and tail coiled, as its tongue snatches an unlucky butterfly, soon to become the chameleon’s satisfying meal.

Technology company with Cavan roots revolutionizing the processing and publication of data

A technology company based in the Ormeau Baths in Belfast, and founded by a brother and sister team from Cavan, is revolutionising the processing and publishing of data.

The Sensible Code Company, founded by Aidan and Áine McGuire from Kilnaleck, Co Cavan, has developed Cantabular while working with the Office for National Statistics (ONS) in the UK over the last two years.

At the end of March, ONS released its ‘create a custom dataset’ product, as part of its publication of Census 2021 statistics for England and Wales.  The product has enabled the ONS to put the power in the hands of data users to find and download multiple combinations of data they are most interested in, a move which the ONS described as ‘a unique innovation for official statistics’*, allowing the release of census statistics ‘far more quickly than ever before.’

The Sensible Code Company also worked with the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA), on a flexible table builder for the 2021 Northern Ireland census results, using Cantabular. When it was launched in June, the Director of Census & Social Statistics at NISRA Dr David Marshall, said it marked a ‘watershed moment’ for the census in Northern Ireland. “The release of the Census 2021 Flexible Table Builder marks a watershed moment for the census in Northern Ireland. This is the first time the end-user can build their own tables online. This is a positive step forward from the old ways of publishing pre-defined tables. This has been made possible with the use of software developed here in Belfast and NISRA is excited to welcome this new development,” he said in a tweet.
