ANNKE Whiffle -1080P Battery Powered WiFi Doorbell Camera

The ANNKE Whiffle -1080P Battery Powered WiFi Doorbell Camera with AI is their latest model of offer and with the dark evenings coming in it is best to have some extra security at your home and a video doorbell is one such instance you can use.

Setting up takes a few minutes and no real expertise required and if you have a power drill and screw drive you are good to go as no wiring is required here at all.

Placing the doorbell is important so be sure to follow the instructions given and you are good to go also ensure the fixtures are secure properly as there is doorbell thieves out there and I recently had one yanked off my wall but the idiot does not know they are famous now and forget how they work.

The doorbell can be used either flat oor with a wedge and it is best to get the most field of view as it also acts as a security camera too.

The app is straight forward and simple to use around all the doorbell features you would expect are here however there is paid and freemium models here on offer so it is up to you which suits you best and it does also take an SD card for local storage however the price models does not include that.

The alerts are on time which is fair to say and again this will depend on your own home network there can be a lag sometimes but all the detection alerts are present and some more thrown in on the premium plan.

You can see a full review below in the video of what to expect and how it works and we take a look at the app too so you can see what to expect, for the price of this product it is a fairly good  doorbell compared to those battery powered doorbells you find in bargain shops that run on a standard battery, this however will last around three weeks but again this varies depending on how you have set up alerts.

Free Vs Premium

The Free vs Premium here is something you should take note of as to what your needs are as most people differ some may need some of what’s free or what is premium or both and this is a move most smart doorbell makers are doing but with an SD card for local storage not so much.

AlphaTheta launches brand new DDJ-GRV6

AlphaTheta, a world-class manufacturer of DJ equipment, announces the release of the DDJ-GRV6, a 4-channel DJ controller that’s compatible with both rekordbox and Serato DJ Pro.

You can easily remix drum parts and perform remixes on the fly with the DDJ-GRV6, thanks to its new Groove Circuit feature which is available in rekordbox and enables you to manipulate the music in ways that are impossible with a conventional DJ controller. Simply press one of the dedicated buttons to swap the drum part of any track with a beat or break in a completely different genre while it’s playing, then add effects if you want it to sound even more unique.

When used with Serato DJ Pro, the DDJ-GRV6 can manipulate and separate Stems of a track, i.e., drums, bass, vocal or melody, using the Stems FX feature. This unique feature allows players to express themselves musically by applying effects such as Roll, Trans, Echo Out, and Delay to the separate Stems of a track.

With a layout inherited from CDJ + DJM setups, the DDJ-GRV6 helps you get a feel for playing on club-standard equipment, so you’ll be able to transfer your skills and feel at home when you step into the booth. The controller also includes the Smart Rotary Selector and Discover function, which both help you to browse and select tracks quickly and intuitively. And the DDJ-GRV6 can be used with PC/Mac or mobile devices, enabling you to start DJing right away with your preferred device.

The DDJ-GRV6 is available now for £719. For more information, head to alphatheta.com.

Google’s approach to help tackle online scams and fraud in Ireland

Google is making changes in Ireland to help tackle online scams and fraud, including some detail on Google’s broader approach to tackling these issues. Preventing fraud and scams on its platforms is critically important to Google.

About the update

  • Google will shortly notify customers that it is updating its financial services verification process to introduce new requirements for advertisers promoting financial services in Ireland.

  • The update will allow Google to require Financial Services advertisers to complete verification based on their authorisation from the Central Bank of Ireland or other appropriate regulator. Advertises who are required to complete the process and do not, will not be allowed to show financial services ads. Google is working with customers to ensure this process goes smoothly.

  • This change is part of Google’s ongoing efforts to tackle fraudulent or scam ads.

Google’s broader approach

  • Preventing fraud and scams on our platforms is critically important to Google. Fraudsters are constantly evolving their tactics – both online and off – to try to scam people and businesses alike.

  • Google is tackling this adversarial behaviour in a number of ways including:

    • Introducing and updating policies and programs to prevent abuse including Google Ads Policyadvertiser identity verification program and business operations verification program.

    • Investing in technology to better detect coordinated adversarial behaviour, allowing Google to connect the dots across accounts and suspend multiple bad actors at once.

    • Improving its automated detection technology and human review processes based on, for example, previous account activity and user feedback.

  • We know we are successfully preventing many bad advertisers from placing ads – you can read more detail in our latest ads safety report – but, as you know, this is a complex and evolving challenge and we must constantly find ways to improve.

  • We continue to work closely with industry partners, regulators, policymakers and other stakeholders.

See how online creativity is connecting young people with lifelong health conditions and disability across Ireland

An upcoming nationwide art exhibition series will highlight the benefits being brought to the wellbeing, confidence and social connectivity of young people across Ireland living with lifelong physical health conditions by Helium Arts’ Distance Creates online art programme.

Helium Arts is a national charity supporting children in Ireland with lifelong physical health conditions such as diabetes, epilepsy, heart conditions, spina bifida, juvenile arthritis and rare conditions, among others. The charity runs a range of art programmes dedicated to improving the wellbeing of these children and young people.

Helium Arts has announced that its Creativity Unlimited art showcase will open on 16th October in Limerick City Gallery of Art, where a flagship exhibition will run until 25th October. A family day will be taking place on Saturday, 19th October, with special events and activities. Follow-on exhibitions will be taking place in several Connected Hubs’ locations across the country, including in Cork, Galway and Dublin during November. All of the exhibitions and associated events will be open to the public free of charge.

Creativity Unlimited will display creative works by young people aged between six and 16 from across Ireland who have been participating in Helium Arts’ Distance Creates online programme. The theme ‘About Me’ celebrates the creative stories of the online participants presented through zines exploring identity, and the children and young people’s journey through the online programme.

Distance Creates is the online component of Helium Arts’ wider creative health programme, which also delivers in-person, artist-led, medically supported creative workshops in hospital paediatric outpatient clinics and community settings in locations in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, the Mid West, Galway and the West.

In 2023, 114 children and young people from across 22 counties in Ireland living with lifelong physical health conditions such as epilepsy, diabetes, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, hydrocephalus and cystic fibrosis participated in Distance Creates online.

Feedback conducted by Helium Arts through surveys and consultations with the young people, parents and programme coordinators involved in the online programme showed how the process of being creative was a joyful and calming experience, that it promoted confidence and a sense of self, and fostered new friendships and connections between participants, who can often feel socially isolated.*

Announcing Creativity Unlimited, CEO of Helium Arts, Helene Hugel, said: “Our online programme has allowed us to widen our reach and bring the benefits of art and creativity to more children and young people living with the effects of illness or disability every day. Distance Creates facilitates them to take part from anywhere in Ireland, whether that is in the comfort of their own home, during a stay in hospital, or within a community context. I’m very grateful to Limerick City Gallery of Art and the Connected Hubs network for providing space for the exhibition series as a way of recognising the talent and accomplishment of our young artists in the heart of their own communities, while connecting with a new, wider circle of social support online.”

Welcoming being a venue partner for Creativity Unlimited, Connected Hubs’ National Hubs Network programme manager, Stephen Carolan, said: “Connected Hubs is delighted to support Helium Arts’ innovative online programme, which empowers children and young people across Ireland to engage in creative activities, no matter their health condition or location. This complements our innovative Art in the Hubs partnership with the Contemporary Irish Arts Society to place pieces of art in hubs all over Ireland.”

How Distance Creates works

The Distance Creates programme offers a blend of online and offline creative activities. Upon signing up, children and young people receive an ‘art box’ in the post, curated by Helium Arts, containing all the necessary art materials. Participants then receive creative activities, demonstrations, and tips from a professional artist via email, allowing them to complete projects and get creative at their own pace. Additionally, there are opportunities to connect with others through Zoom sessions and ‘post pal’, where you are connected with another participant around the country to exchange artwork by post.

Distance Creates is open to young people aged between six and 16, and like all Helium Arts programmes, it’s free of charge.

What participants have to say

Jason Harper, age 15, from Kilkenny, lives with the genetic condition 22q11.2 deletion syndrome. Jason is a participant of Helium Arts’ Distance Creates online programme for ages 13-16 and will have his work featured in Creativity Unlimited.

Commenting on the experience and benefits for him of the online programme, Jason said: “The tutors were really friendly and welcoming. The art pack they sent had lots of supplies. I enjoyed the watercolour painting and rice maps. The techniques I learned at the camp are currently helping me with my Junior Cert art project as I am using the same techniques for my project. I look forward to learning more.”

David Savage from Mullingar is dad to Aisling, age eight. Aisling lives with epilepsy and is a participant of the Distance Creates online programme for ages six to eight. Aisling will also have her work featured in the showcase.

Commenting on the experience and benefits for Aisling of the online programme, David said: “Aisling’s favourite thing about the online workshops is being able to see other people’s work. She loves to see the different ways other people have done the project, and she also loves seeing their names and ages. She knows they all have conditions too. This makes her feel less alone. Aisling also adored the post pal and stayed in touch with her pal, a girl the same age as her living in Roscommon. They wrote letters to each other and shared art by post which was great fun and so lovely to see.”

Top 7 Digital Payment Trends in 2024

Digital payments have become an integral part of our daily lives, revolutionizing the way we transact. As technology continues to advance, so too does the landscape of digital payments. These trends are driven by factors such as increased smartphone adoption, growing consumer demand for convenience, and advancements in payment technologies.

In this article, we explore what digital payment trends are and highlight seven digital payment trends of 2024.

What Are Digital Payment Trends?

In the past decade, the financial landscape has undergone dramatic changes, and nowhere is this more evident than in the digital payments sector.

The rise of e-commerce, the global shift toward mobile-first solutions, and the advent of cutting-edge technologies have all transformed how consumers and businesses conduct financial transactions.

Digital payment trends reflect the innovative processes and technologies that drive these changes, shaping the way money is moved, managed, and stored.

Some impacts of digital payment trends have included:

  • Financial inclusion through providing financial access to populations that have historically been underserved by traditional banking systems.
  • Acting as new revenue streams for businesses by integrating financial services into their platforms. Whether it’s through subscription models, integrated marketplaces, or fintech partnerships, companies are capitalizing on the convenience of in-app payments.
  • Increased security and fraud prevention since these technologies are helping to reduce fraud, protect consumer data, and ensure that financial transactions are safe and reliable.
  • Increased competition for traditional financial systems which is pushing banks to rethink their role in the financial ecosystem, forcing them to innovate or risk becoming obsolete.

Top Digital Payment Trends of the Year

2024 has seen a further rise in digital payment, especially the uptake of tools and applications that make payment easier for individuals and businesses

Here are the top 7 digital payment trends of 2024.

Blockchain Payments

Blockchain technology is transforming the digital payments landscape in 2024, offering enhanced security, transparency, and efficiency. Its decentralized nature eliminates intermediaries, allowing peer-to-peer (P2P) transactions without the need for banks or payment processors. Each transaction is recorded on an immutable ledger, reducing the risk of fraud and ensuring data integrity.

Cross-border payments are a key area where blockchain shines. Traditional international transfers are slow and costly, but blockchain enables instant, low-cost payments by bypassing intermediaries using solutions such as stablecoins—digital assets pegged to stable currencies like the US dollar, which can be easily stored and transferred using a DeFi wallet.

Contactless Payments

Contactless payments, which allow users to simply tap their card, phone, or wearable device to a terminal, have become increasingly popular due to their speed and ease of use. In 2024, they continue to revolutionize the way we pay for goods and services.

Some contactless payment technologies include NFC-enabled cards and smartphones that enable secure communication with a payment terminal, allowing users to complete transactions in seconds.

Another notable contactless payment trend in 2024 is the rise of wearable payment devices such as smartwatches, fitness trackers, and rings. These devices offer an even more convenient and hands-free way to pay, particularly appealing to tech-savvy consumers who seek quick, seamless transactions on the go.

Biometric Authentication

With security concerns growing in tandem with the rise of digital payments, biometric authentication has emerged as a game-changing technology in the payment space.

By using unique physical attributes like fingerprints, facial recognition, or even iris scans, biometric authentication offers a highly secure method for verifying identities and authorizing payments.

In 2024, many smartphones and digital wallets already incorporate biometric authentication features, with fingerprint and facial recognition being the most common. Consumers can now unlock their wallets, authorize payments, and verify transactions through a simple scan, offering both security and convenience.

QR Code Payments

QR codes have been around for years, but their use in digital payments has exploded, particularly in markets like Asia. In 2024, QR code payments have become a global trend, enabling quick, simple, and secure transactions.

To make a QR code payment, a merchant generates a unique code that encodes payment details. The consumer scans the QR code with their mobile device, which redirects them to a secure payment platform. This process is both convenient and adaptable, working for in-store purchases, e-commerce transactions, and even peer-to-peer payments.

QR code payments have seen rapid adoption in countries like China and India, where smartphone penetration is high but banking infrastructure may be less developed.

Platforms like WeChat Pay and Alipay have led the charge in China, with millions of users adopting QR codes for everything from small retail purchases to larger business transactions.

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Artificial intelligence is transforming the payments industry, enhancing everything from fraud detection to personalized payment experiences. AI is a critical player in optimizing and securing digital payment systems in 2024.

AI-powered algorithms are revolutionizing fraud detection by analyzing transaction patterns in real-time to detect anomalies. This proactive approach helps prevent fraudulent activity before it occurs, safeguarding both consumers and businesses. Machine learning models become more effective with each transaction, learning from data to improve their ability to spot suspicious activity.

AI is also being used to offer more personalized payment experiences. For example, AI can analyze a user’s spending habits and offer tailored recommendations, such as which card to use for rewards or when to make purchases to maximize savings. By understanding user behavior, AI enhances convenience and creates a more seamless payment journey.

Lastly, AI-driven automation is streamlining back-end operations for financial institutions and businesses alike. Processes such as payment reconciliation, customer service, and transaction processing are being optimized through AI, reducing costs and improving service delivery.

Open Banking

Open banking is a trend that has been gaining momentum in recent years by granting third-party providers access to consumer banking data through application programming interfaces (APIs).

Open banking allows consumers to authorize third-party applications to access their financial information, such as transaction history and account details. This empowers consumers to use financial apps that provide budgeting tools, personalized payment services, or investment advice tailored to their needs. The control over how data is shared leads to better financial management.

This digital payment trend has also paved the way for more direct payment methods. Instead of relying on intermediaries like card networks, open banking enables consumers to make payments directly from their bank accounts. This reduces transaction fees and offers a more seamless payment experience for both consumers and businesses. By opening up access to consumer data, banks and fintech companies can collaborate to create more innovative financial products and services.

Embedded Payments

Embedded payments represent one of the most transformative shifts in the payments landscape.

By embedding payment functionality directly into apps, websites, and platforms, businesses are creating frictionless experiences where payments occur almost invisibly.

Embedded payments allow users to complete transactions without being redirected to a third-party payment gateway. Instead, payments are processed seamlessly within the platform. For example, ride-hailing apps like Uber and Lyft enable users to pay for their rides without ever leaving the app, with payment happening automatically in the background. By removing steps in the payment process, businesses can lower cart abandonment rates and increase customer satisfaction.

Wrapping Up

Digital payments are evolving at an unprecedented rate, and the trends of 2024 reflect the fast-paced innovation in this space.

From the widespread adoption of digital wallets and contactless payments to the security enhancements provided by biometric authentication, these trends are reshaping the way consumers and businesses handle transactions.

As we move forward, digital payments will only become more integrated into our everyday lives, leading us toward a truly cashless and frictionless financial future.

Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 review

The Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 are the latest tech in my ears a while now and alongside that their Pixel 9 devices still my daily drivers which both combined work a treat.

Earbuds come through here so fast we have reviewed over 200 pairs now at this stage if not more and I love them but slightly off the topic Google Need to give us headphones next time around or even as a separate product and I am hoping they will soon but as far as their earbuds go they are one of if not the best out there today and a big improvement over the last model which is now around two years ago, why the gap one asks?

Smaller earbuds and a smaller battery this time around and they still deliver in every aspect and give you more this year with their smarts on board like most other brands and their AI but it is fair to say Google is way ahead of the game some time now and the rest are playing catch up.

OK so they are smaller and not the type of earbud I go for I rather stems however this time around the wing has a different shape and it is at the start a bit fiddly to get them in but once in they will not budge even if running, they are sleek and subtle and not only that you can wear these in bed lying down on either side without hitting a command and this for me is a huge bonus as I like to listen to music and podcasts in bed and also test the. This is a win for me.

They are small and look like a small pebble or mint and still at that people asked what are they when out and about and me with the big smile ohh they are the new Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 and they were surprised to see the size and shape not only that the colour is also cool and the nicest out of the new range but I do like some other flavours too.

Sound then.. Yes they are better than the last version quite a bit actually and with all the new features on board they are topping the list for me which is a hard feat and I would say even better than Samsung’s Buds Pro 3 but again they are device specific like the Pixel Buds Pro 2 which loses features on iPhone but this is a game they are all playing.

Excellent volume decently loud great highs lows and mids really good bass and treble and then you have the app to play around with the EQs and get the best sound for you there is and whats more they sound like you are there in some aspects like in podcasts and also other settings and this is thanks to new features, again if watching movies footsteps and background noise more present and to top things off you have got spatial audio conversation detection and head tracking all thrown in here.

The gesture controls work really well and all the options are like skip and reverse track volume control call control play and pause and your AI assistant access. The ANC is pretty much up at the top here to but also do check the fit and tips and the earseal test as I always advise in any other earbud that offers the same which is now becoming a basic feature these days.

The Pixel Buds Pro 2 are almost on par with headphones now once you have the right tips and test done and for me this is the second pair of earbuds so far this year that have come close to this, you have you ANC on/off and of course transparency mode which is superb so you can hear your surroundings and again conversation detection so you have no need to remove one of your earbuds to hear that conversation.

Multipoint connection works seamlessly here and of like me you own more than one pixel device even better, battery is decent too and again a first with the tensor chip inside and overall even for an audiophile they might just give them the nod too and for me they are easy to recommend this year and better again if you are a Google Pixel owner you are in for a treat.

The App

Ten things to know about the Pixel Buds Pro 2

1 – Designed to be the most comfortable earbuds.

Pixel Buds Pro 2 are designed to be the most comfortable and secure-fitting earbuds. They were designed using 45 million data points from ear scans to come up with the optimal shape for maximum comfort and a secure fit. Combined with the new Tensor A1 chip, we were further able to reduce the size by 27% as well as make them lighter while increasing performance and battery life.

2 – Twist-to-adjust stabilizer for adaptable fit during exercise.

Use the twist-to-adjust stabilizer when you’re exercising to lock your Pixel Buds Pro 2 securely in your ear, or adjust in the other direction for all-day comfort.

3 – The first Tensor chip in an earbud.

The Tensor A1 chip was built for advanced audio processing and Google AI. It
processes audio 90 times faster than the speed of sound to adapt to you and
your environment, cancels twice as much noise,2 and helps deliver clear calls.

4 – Silent SealTM 2.0 cancels twice as much noise.

Active Noise Cancellation with Silent SealTM 2.0 adapts to your environment up to 3 million times per second, and adapts to your ear to cancel up to twice as much noise as before.2 By expanding the frequency range, Silent SealTM 2.0 also cancels
a wider range of noises, including even higher frequencies.

5 – Upgraded acoustic architecture for premium sound.

Pixel Buds Pro 2 have large 11 mm drivers for powerful bass and a new high- frequency chamber for smooth treble. Multi-path processing on the Tensor A1 chip adds an additional signal path for music. This allows it to bypass the Silent SealTM processing chain to deliver unaltered, pure sound to the speaker drivers.

6 – Improved Clear Calling.

Clear Calling on Pixel reduces the noise around the person on the other side of the call, enhancing their voice so you can hear them even more clearly.3 For example, when your friend is on the subway, you’ll hear them clearly through your Pixel Buds Pro 2, no matter which phone and earbuds they use. This year, updated algorithms reduce noise in even more settings.

7 – No more taking out earbuds to talk.

With Conversation Detection, Pixel Buds Pro 2 use AI to tell when you start speaking. Your music gets paused and the earbuds switch to Transparency mode. When the conversation ends, the music resumes automatically, going back to Active Noise Cancellation without you taking any action.

8 – More precise location tracking for your earbuds and case.

Pixel Buds Pro 2 support the new Find My Device network, so you can find your earbuds’ precise location on a map.4 When you’re close, just ring them or the charging case to find them even faster.

9 – Switch audio automatically.

Easily switch from watching a movie or show on your tablet to listening to your running playlist on your watch.

10 – The best earbuds for Pixel.

Pixel Buds Pro 2 are deeply integrated with your other Pixel devices. Features like Clear Calling, Spatial Audio with head tracking, precise location tracking of your buds and case with Find My Device, and seamless switching make them the
best earbuds for everything Pixel.
