Evolve IP Expands New Training Hub Reseller Knowledge Bank

Cloud collaboration provider, Evolve IP, is continuing to expand a new specialist training hub, designed to inspire reseller knowledge and put key content at their fingertips when they need it.

The ‘ucSKILLS’ digital adoption platform offers valuable tools so partners can seamlessly deliver all of Evolve IP’s solutions, as part of a powerful Unified Communications knowledge bank.

Together with technology partner iTEL, dedicated technical training content across its entire product set is available to all partners – delivered in a user-friendly central resource which is continually updated with new technical resources, fun ‘gamify’ training, videos and marketing resources.

Knowledge Is Power

Scott Rixon, Evolve IP Solutions Director, says the e-learning service has been operational for several months and continues to evolve with new content being added on a regular basis, to cement reseller knowledge across the EMEA region.

“Our partnership with iTEL will continue to totally transform our services and create a host of benefits such as optimising team knowledge and support levels, improving the overall customer experience and reducing customer churn.

“This valuable technical resource is readily available to all our customers, giving them the power to quickly resolve issues and guide customer queries.”

Rixon added that a recent study conducted by iTEL proved that having an effective digital adoption platform reduced customer churn by 35%, ensuring resellers retain their customer bases.

“In today’s fast-paced technology world it’s not always easy to keep up-to-date with the latest developments. But equally in a world of information overload it can be difficult to access advice and find the answers you’re looking for when you need it. Evolve IP’s Training Hub is the answer! It’s about creating and providing access to content at their fingertips when they need it. Training on time at the right time, for new and to support those more established team members.”

Evolve IP is designed to advance today’s hybrid workplace. It partners with many of the world’s biggest tech companies to bring together their unified communications, collaboration, voice, and contact centre tools into a single, secure solution, fine-tuned for the hybrid workforce.

Continued Development

Rixon emphasised: “We are only at the beginning of our journey and are now exploring ways to make the whole user experience even more engaging and enjoyable. For example building in ways we can gamify the training, by creating badges for those who are completing the courses we have set them.

“In addition, the training hub is the new home for all technical resources and marketing assets to support our resellers with communicating about our solutions to their customers. Meaning once a team has access, everything they need is in one place. We want to make it even easier to do business with us.”

Rixon concluded: “This new service is all about empowering partners and helping cement their technical knowledge. The training hub has been very well received so far and continues to expand all the time with both technical and marketing content. We are determined this space becomes the centre for partner learning and development and a go-to Unified Communications knowledge bank.

“We are currently getting detailed feedback from our partners by encouraging them to complete a short survey. It’s important they provide us with honest feedback so we can make the space that they need to learn and develop their skills in the most effective and enjoyable way.”

Pinergy partners with EnergyCloud to deploy smart tech that minimises energy waste and tackles energy poverty

Pinergy, the energy transition company, has today announced a new partnership with EnergyCloud Ireland, aimed at deploying smart tech to minimise energy waste, and tackle energy poverty to power a fairer energy transition in Ireland. Through this collaboration, surplus renewable energy generated will be distributed to fuel poor households via EnergyCloud, by providing a free tank of hot water.

EnergyCloud Ireland is a social enterprise company that works with utilities and wind energy producers to divert unused renewable energy to Irish homes experiencing fuel poverty. Fuel poverty impacts over 550,000 households every day in Ireland, yet since 2018 according to EirGrid, well over 5,000 GWh of zero carbon energy from wind generation went unused and ultimately wasted.

EnergyCloud’s mission is to create solutions to divert surplus renewable energy, which would otherwise be wasted, to Irish homes, with a primary focus on those in fuel poverty. This partnership aligns Pinergy’s desire to help customers understand their consumption to reduce energy waste today for a better energy future for all.

Commenting on the partnership, Enda Gunnell, CEO of Pinergy said; “At Pinergy we are on a mission to power energy transition in Ireland and support the move towards cheaper renewable energy. However, we are committed to ensuring that the inevitable energy transition is fair for all in society and that any waste of precious renewable energy is minimised. Our partnership with EnergyCloud can help us achieve these goals and enable us to play a small part in addressing energy poverty.”

Participating households are equipped with EnergyCloud enabled smart technology which allows surplus and otherwise wasted renewable energy to be used to heat immersion tanks, at no cost to the household occupants.

John Mullins, Chair of EnergyCloud said: “This partnership between EnergyCloud Ireland and Pinergy commenced a number of months ago and already families are benefiting from the scheme. EnergyCloud works with partners to fulfil our mission of using surplus renewable energy to help tackle fuel poverty. For the families involved this is really great news and illustrates how we can collectively use smart technology to lessen the impact of fuel poverty. EnergyCloud is proud to partner with Pinergy as part of their commitment to power the energy transition and support greater use of renewable energy in Ireland.”

It also recognizes the highly skilled talent in Ireland and further bolsters the strong trade and investment relationships between the United States and Ireland.”

The new R&D Centre, planned for Cork’s vibrant city centre, complements Motorola Solutions’ existing footprint in Ireland, which is focused on delivering the emergency services’ secure communications network, Ireland’s National Digital Radio Service.

“It’s fantastic news that Motorola Solutions has chosen Cork City for their new global R&D Centre,” said Peter Burke TD, Minister for Enterprise, Trade & Employment. “Regional investment is a priority for Government and the creation of 200 highly skilled jobs in R&D is a significant boost for the region. Microsoft Dream Space engages 300,000 young people in digital skills

At the second annual Microsoft Dream Space Showcase held in Dublin to mark the end of school year, Microsoft announced that it has engaged 300,000 young people and teachers in its immersive Microsoft Dream Space STEM experience which has been designed to help young people pursue their interest in STEM and shift their perceptions about the role technology can play in their future career choices.

This important milestone comes just 18 months after the company pledged to provide almost 1,000,000 students and their teachers across the island of Ireland with the opportunity to develop their digital and AI skills.

Over the past year, the company has introduced a suite of new programmes, which has helped to broaden the reach of Microsoft Dream Space. The company joined forces with RTÉ Learn to present Microsoft Dream Space TV: brAIn_waves – a series exploring the evolution of AI which enabled primary and post-primary students to develop their AI literacy.

The Microsoft Dream Space hub in Leopardstown also hosted the largest ‘Capture the Flag’ cybersecurity event for post-primary school students in Ireland, which sought to inspire the next generation of cyber security leaders.

To address inequalities in accessing STEM careers among post-primary students in socially disadvantaged communities, Microsoft Ireland, together with Maynooth University, Science Foundation Ireland and the Department of Education expanded the STEM Passport for Inclusion initiative nationwide with the ambition to engage a further 5,000 students.

The second annual Microsoft Dream Space Showcase held at One Microsoft Place this week brought together over 400 students from rural areas to demonstrate the many ways in which their digital skills can help to solve some of today’s sustainability challenges.

Other Microsoft Dream Space innovations introduced within the past 12 months include the expansion of the Dream Space Ambassador and Dream Space LIVE programmes, the launch of the Dream Space Minecraft Teacher Academy, the relaunch of the Dream Space Digital Academy and the roll out of bespoke Dream Space events for people with disabilities.

The continued expansion of Microsoft Dream Space builds on Microsoft’s recent commitment to help ‘Skill Up Ireland’ by providing people of all ages, experiences and ambitions with the opportunity to develop their AI fluency and skills.

James O’Connor, Microsoft Ireland Site Leader and Vice-President Microsoft Global Operations Service Centre, said: “As part of our commitment to Skill Up Ireland for the era of AI, we’re incredibly proud to have engaged 300,000 young people from across this island in our Microsoft Dream Space experience.

“With digital technology transforming our lives, work, and education, it’s crucial that every student, regardless of socio-demographics, can engage in STEM learning as early as possible and prepare for our AI future. That’s why 18 months ago, we committed an additional €3 million investment in our innovation and education hub, Microsoft Dream Space, over four years.

“As a result, we’ve been able to significantly expand our Dream Space programming and introduce new innovations to broaden its reach and impact. The significant increases in STEM interest and confidence that we’re seeing as a result, particularly among girls and students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, highlight the power of the programme.

“Through the continued growth of Microsoft Dream Space, I’m confident that we can provide every student on the island of Ireland with the chance to engage in STEM and AI learning and empower the next generation of digital leaders.”

Speaking about her experience of the Dream Space Student Ambassador programme Isobel Fay, student from Our Lady of Mercy Convent School in Booterstown, said: “Since taking part in the Dream Space Ambassador programme, I’ve learned so much about new technologies like AI and how they can be used to solve different problems in society. All the training has been really helpful in boosting my confidence to speak to students and teachers at my school in Booterstown about all the interesting possibilities that we can use technology for. I’m looking forward to more Dream Space sessions in the future and continuing to learn about the latest developments in technology.”

Reflecting on the engagement of her students in the Microsoft Dream Space TV: brAIn_waves series Nathalia McCarthy a teacher from Grange Community College, Donaghmede in Dublin said: “I loved how the series was linked to the curriculum, so we were able to add it so easily to what we were already doing in the classroom. I have never seen enthusiasm like it in 1st years, 2nd years and our TY students.”

Research undertaken by Maynooth University has indicated the positive impact of Microsoft Dream Space on those who have taken part. Findings show a 42% increase in girls likely to pursue STEM careers and a 40% increase in boys with similar aspirations. Notably, socio-economically disadvantaged girls demonstrated a 30% increase in career aspirations in STEM fields and an 80% boost in confidence regarding their STEM capabilities.

Tech Review – QDOS SNAPSTAND 3-in-1 foldable MagSafe charging stand

The QDOS SNAPSTAND 3-in-1 foldable MagSafe charging stand is ideal if you have multiple products in use at one time so like me with a watch, earbuds and several phones on the go this is ideal in more ways than one.

Key factor here is that it is foldable and and can fit in your travel bag and pocket and the next thing is you only need one cable and no proprietary cable to carry for your Apple or compatible watch and other cables so this is a one stop shop to charge 3 devices at once.

This is also very light however it is robust and not a cheaply made product and is made with 60% recycled metal and this is of course thinking of the environment today like many manufacturers are trying to do.

This is perfect for my workspace as I can also use it to interact with my phone beside me without the need to hold my phone and again ideal for my bedside locker.

Another great feature is this can be moved into several positions unlike others that are fixed so it will cater for more devices than you might first think.

Overall this is a must have product at your disposal if you are one to have several devices or compatible gadgets on the go or at home and this means less plugs and cable and more importantly less space is taken up.
