Tech Review – Creative Zen Air Pro SXFI earbuds

The Creative Zen Air Pro SXFI earbuds with LE Audio is another new pair of earbuds from the brand that are affordable with great sound and features on board.

Recently we tested the Zen Air Plus which are really great value for money and worth looking at if you are unsure of what your requirements are. There is slight differences between the pair and to be honest either pair is great with the price you pay.

Again we have access to their apps which enhances the audio experience on a budget giving you the SXFI experience too which is great if you have not tested it out yet. On setting up there was an app update so be sure to do this before you move on to get the best features.

The case is a standard affair not as nice as the Zen Air Plus but still nice with the creative logo on the front and a button and on the  bottom is the USB port you can also charge these wirelessly too which for me is a win.

The earbuds again have a small stem and sit nicely in the ears giving a good seal so check you have the right tips for the best experience. The earbud is on the larger size but still fits well.

Creative Zen Air Pro – techbuzzireland

Sound is up next and again it’s good to report it is excellent slightly outdoing the sister product and anyone that does decide to check them out will be happy. Highs low and mids all good decent volume and with app access you have options. . No tinny sound when using with full volume lo lag latency or distortion noted either again here which just solidifies the product as before.

Ireland wins Gold at the WorldSkills Global Skills Challenge 2024 in Cybersecurity in Melbourne

An Irish team of cybersecurity experts has triumphed over Australia, Korea, Hong Kong, Chinese Taipei (Taiwan), and Singapore to take Gold at the WorldSkills Global Skills Challenge 2024, hosted by WorldSkills Australia. Mark Drinan and Luke Woodside, guided by Dr. George O’Mahony of Munster Technological University (MTU), overcame fierce competition from several nations renowned for their cybersecurity expertise.

The victory marks the first time an Irish team has triumphed in an official World Skills Competition in Cybersecurity, with Ireland first entering the cybersecurity skill in 2021. Team Ireland is now setting its sights on the upcoming WorldSkills International Cybersecurity Competition (Skill 54) in Lyon this September as part of WorldSkills Team Ireland.

The Challenge

As part of the Global Skills Challenge, the teams were put into the scenario of a real-world cyber-attack on a fictitious company that was started based on a rogue malicious USB and insider threat. Over three days the teams had to run digital forensics on an infected end-user computer, each team also had to create reports including a technical brief, a timeline of the cyber-attack, a report for the media and a report for the board of directors. This competition was about accurately identifying what happened and providing real-world preventative measures and recommendations.

The Team

Team Cybersecurity for WorldSkills Ireland consists of Mark Drinan, a recent graduate from the Cybersecurity Masters at MTU and an engineer at IBM, and Luke Woodside, a graduate from TUS (Technological University Shannon) and Managing Director of Woodside Networks. Mark and Luke beat out stiff competition in regional competitions to make the national team. The team was trained and mentored by MTU Cybersecurity Lecturer and WorldSkills Ireland Expert for Cybersecurity Dr George O’Mahony.

The team trained on and competed nationally using MTU’s Cyber Range, a state-of-the-art cybersecurity platform unique to Ireland. The facility enables simulations of cyber-attacks on virtual organisations, providing invaluable training for students, researchers, and industry professionals without risking real-world damage or outages.

Professor Maggie Cusack, President of MTU, said, “MTU’s leadership in cybersecurity education, research and innovation, mentorship and training ensures that our graduates and trainees have the skills, capabilities and confidence to succeed at the highest levels in Ireland and globally. On behalf of everyone at MTU, I am delighted to congratulate our Team Ireland members on their extraordinary achievement of winning gold at the WorldSkills cybersecurity challenge.”

Dr. George O’Mahony – Cybersecurity Lecturer & Researcher at Cyber Skills at MTU and WorldSkills Ireland Expert Skill 54 – Cybersecurity, said, “This win is a great example of the work Ireland’s cybersecurity academics and experts are doing in preparing young Irish professionals to compete on the world stage. It highlights the calibre of talent being produced and the strong pipeline of skilled cybersecurity professionals available in Ireland. The win is a great boost to the team and a big step along their training and upskilling journey. The work Mark and Luke have put in has been a testament to their drive and determination.”

Mark Drinan, Team Ireland, said, “I am incredibly proud to represent my country and bring home a Gold Medal for Ireland. This medal represents Ireland’s commitment to investing in high-quality, practical cybersecurity education.”

Michael Hourihan (MTU) – WorldSkills Ireland Official Delegate – “This win highlights the positive outcomes that result when skills and technological careers are recognised and promoted at national and international levels. We encourage ICT students to start their Skills Olympics journey by participating in the WorldSkills Ireland National Competitions this September, test your skills against the best nationally and possibly internationally.”

HP Study: Business and government leaders believe technology is key to expanding economic opportunity

HP Inc. unveiled a new study with Oxford Economics revealing enthusiasm among global leaders to use technology including AI to advance key impact goals.

The study of business executives and government officials in 10 countries found 3 out of 4 leaders believe technology is key to expanding economic opportunity (76%) and that AI will help drive progress towards sustainability and social impact goals (76%).

Further, business leaders are either already using AI or plan to in the next 1-2 years for goals such as increasing access to digital education (90%), workforce development (89%), and workforce diversity (86%).

AI’s reach holds great promise to help HP accelerate our sustainable and social impact goals,” said Val Gabriel, Managing Director at HP Ireland. “From how we responsibly build AI PCs for first-time users to data scientists who use our workstations to help local farmers build more resilient businesses, this is the technology that can move businesses and our communities forward.”

Accelerating digital equity for 150 million people by 2030

About one-third of the global population remains offline, costing the world billions of dollars in lost GDP each year. The digital divide has been growing since the advent of technology, and AI could exacerbate these disparities if intentional action isn’t taken.

Everyone deserves an opportunity to access the tools needed to thrive in the digital economy,” said Gabriel. “We know technology can be a great equaliser and a powerful tool to drive progress. Yet, to truly narrow the digital divide in our rapidly evolving world, we must also equip individuals with the skills to use technology.”

In its latest Sustainable Impact report released today, HP announced it has accelerated digital equity for more than 45 million people since 2021, bringing the organisation nearly a third of the way to its goal of reaching 150 million people by 2030.

The rapid progress is a result of innovative partnerships with key organisations that create tailored solutions for communities. HP pursues impactful programs, strategic investments and partnerships that prioritise those mostly likely to experience the digital divide.

In 2023, HP:

  • Supported digital equity solutions developed by ten organisations in Malaysia, South Africa and Mexico with the Digital Equity Accelerator, such as improvements in digital literacy to access employment, access to educational hardware and software in schools and development of digital platforms to support improved health outcomes. In total, the Accelerator reached 6.4 million people in 2023.
  • Launched more than 100 Digital Hubs in partnership with World YMCA to support digital programming and literacy. For example, the West Orem Digital Hub, provided by YMCA Houston in Texas aims to increase community access to educational, economic, and social opportunities for young people, support services for families, and digital literacy courses for aging members of the community. More than 500,000 individuals were reached globally in 2023.
  • Opened two NABU HP Creative Labs in the U.S. and the Philippines, equipping artists and authors with technology to write and illustrate hundreds of books for children in local languages each year. The free books have helped 1.9 million children in 2023 build confidence, connection to culture and literacy skills, a key building block to participation in the digital economy.

Building skills amid the rise of AI

Both business and government officials report lack of skills as a top barrier to meeting key organisational goals, only economic volatility ranked higher.

Skills-building is a core piece of HP’s digital equity approach. As a result, HP is expanding its goal to enrol 2.75 million users in the free skills-building program HP LIFE. The program from the HP Foundation has already enrolled and enabled more than 1.2 million users to access economic opportunities or start businesses.

HP is undertaking new initiatives to expand responsible access and use of AI, the top reported investment area of businesses today:

  • Expand our free HP LIFE Digital Business Skills courses by releasing a new course on AI skills later this year.
  • Kick-off the HP AI in Social Impact Award, in collaboration with MIT Solve, which provides technology designed for building and running AI applications to social entrepreneurs and organisations that use AI to advance education, healthcare, and economic opportunities in communities globally.
  • Debut commercial and consumer Next-Gen AI PCs to market this month, a new category of devices crafted for work and creation.

HP aspires to be the most sustainable and just technology company. HP is committed to continually examining its progress and evaluating further actions to achieve a more equitable and sustainable future.

Getting Your Token Listed: Basic Steps

As more and more people are becoming interested in cryptocurrency, the process of listing a token is becoming increasingly important for projects. This article provides a comprehensive guide on how to list token.

The Token Listing Process

Listing a token begins with understanding its classification and adhering to the regulatory frameworks governing its issuance and trade. Unlike coins, which typically represent a form of currency within their own blockchain, tokens are issued on existing blockchains. They can serve a variety of functions, from granting holders access to services to representing shares in a company. How to list a token? Below are some important steps.

Step 1: Determine Whether Your Token is a Utility or Security

Here is the difference:

  • Utility token listing. Utility tokens, which provide users access to a future product or service, are not intended as investments; however, their regulatory landscape can still be complex. When planning to list a utility token, ensure that it is compliant with the legal standards in every jurisdiction where the token will be offered. This compliance is crucial to avoid future legal complications.
  • Security token requirements. Security tokens represent investment contracts where the holder is entitled to dividends or a share of the profit. Listing a security token involves stringent compliance with securities regulations, including registration or exemption filings, before the tokens can be legally sold. However, each jurisdiction may have different requirements for security tokens.

Step 2: Prepare Your Token for Listing and Token ICO

Before listing, projects typically conduct an initial coin offering (ICO). This process involves marketing the token to potential investors to provide funding. Here are some token ICO tips:

  • prepare a clear and transparent whitepaper;
  • set up a professional website;
  • engage actively with the community across various social media platforms;
  • make sure that all promotional materials are truthful and not misleading to build trust and comply with advertising regulations.

Step 3: Select the Right Exchange

Consider factors such as the exchange’s reputation, user base, technical security measures, and regulation compliance. Some exchanges may have specific requirements for listing tokens, such as proof of concept, audits, or a certain number of active users.

Step 4: Fulfill Exchange Listing Requirements

Each exchange has its own token list criteria, including technical specifications, legal documentation, and marketing materials. Be prepared to meet these requirements and work closely with the exchange’s listing team to ensure a smooth process.

After successfully listing, continuous engagement with your token holders and maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements are essential for ongoing success. Remember, a successful token listing is about more than just launching a market; it is also about sustaining growth and compliance in the long term.

PACE, Fexco’s carbon emissions calculator, expands services to Airport and Corporate Travel Sectors

PACE, Fexco’s sustainability data and analytics product suite, today launched PACE Data Services. This new product suite provides insights for the airport and corporate travel sectors to measure, manage and mitigate their emissions.

Built on PACE’s data platform, a global benchmark for the aviation industry, the service aligns with carbon reduction regulations by using live flight tracking data to monitor over 99% of commercial flights and analyse over 370,000 routes. PACE’s suite of data and analytics is already relied upon by most of the aviation finance sector and the largest financial institutions in the world, like JP Morgan and SMBC.

PACE Data Services will provide airports with a cohesive and precise view of their flight-related emissions. This data will be critical to enabling airports to better manage and mitigate their emissions. In fact, Heathrow’s most recent sustainability report for 2023 stated that 99% of its emissions came from Scope 3 emission reduction targets[1].

In the corporate travel sector, PACE’s data will enable more informed decision-making when it comes to both booking travel and providing more accurate reporting of corporate travel emissions. Recent research from Deloitte shows one in three companies is seeking guidance from travel management companies to reduce their carbon footprint.

In one use case alone, which would have a significant impact on decision-making for corporate travel management, PACE data reveals considerable variations in CO2 emissions per occupied seat—up to 50%—on the same popular transatlantic route across different aircraft. These differences are primarily due to factors such as aircraft seat configuration and aircraft type.

This new offering from PACE enables both these sectors to comply with evolving regulatory frameworks, such as the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). These regulations require the provision of accurate, independently verified, and robust reports on their plans and progress in reducing emissions.

Since its launch in 2022, PACE has become the only Irish company to meet stringent independent aviation measurement standards, including the recent Pegasus Guidelines

“This new service builds on PACE’s rapid growth, driven by demand to address carbon emissions across the aviation value chain,” said Cathal Foley, CEO of PACE. “This will enable airports and corporate travellers to better understand how we fly better while continuing to support ambitious growth strategies. PACE’s vision is to be the global leader in the spaces we operate and deploy our data to enable meaningful change.”

“We are an island and so the aviation sector is a vital part of Ireland’s economy, both as a contributor and an enabler of economic growth. But aviation, like all sectors, will have to transition to a new low-carbon future. It is very exciting to see an Irish company positioned to help transform this sector by utilising its exceptional data and analytics to inform better conversations across the aviation value chain. Measurement is critical to understanding the real impact of carbon reduction measures and claims,” said Minister Eamon Ryan, TD, Minister for the Environment, Climate, Communications and Transport. “Ireland has globally acknowledged aviation expertise, and it is fitting that a successful Irish multinational like Fexco is leading the way in meaningfully enabling the sector to make better decisions on its journey to net zero emissions.”

Irish aviation industry launches campaign to tackle growing passenger misconduct

As the peak travelling season begins, the Irish aviation industry is launching a declaration to combat unruly passenger behaviour in airports and on flights as part of the #NotOnMyFlight campaign. The safety of flights, passengers and crew can be affected by the unruly behaviour of a small minority of passengers. All Irish airlines and airports, An Garda Síochana, the Irish Aviation Authority, AirNav Ireland, ground handlers and international aviation organisations have all come together to tackle the issue of disruptive and dangerous behaviour, which affects passengers and staff almost every day of the year.
There has been a 3-fold increase in passenger unruly behaviour reported between 2019 v 2023. Unruly behaviour can include intoxication, aggressive or inappropriate behaviour as well as not following the commands of flight crew, who are there to ensure passenger safety. The declaration sets out how the aviation industry aims to combat the issue of unruly behaviour on flights. The vast majority of passengers comply with instructions and show respect to staff and other passengers.
However, the signatories of this Joint Declaration recognise the need to actively promote good passenger conduct due to the adverse impact that disruptive and unruly behaviour can have on the safety of a flight and passenger experience. The signatories of the joint declaration will not tolerate any behaviour that has the potential to disrupt the passenger experience, impact the safety of the cabin crew and airport staff or create a safety risk to the aircraft and those on board the flight. This includes physical and sexual assault, threatening and abusive behaviour and generally disruptive acts.
Angela Willis, Assistant Commissioner, DMR of An Garda Síochána welcomed the Declaration:
“We all want to ensure that air travel is pleasant and most importantly safe for all users. While the vast majority of people that use air travel have the highest regard for fellow passengers, unfortunately there are a small minority whose behaviour at airports or on aircraft can have a significant impact on the experience and safety of other passengers or flight crew. An Garda Síochána is delighted to sign this declaration and to work with our partners to combat disruptive and dangerous behaviour which will not be tolerated.”

A Ryanair spokesperson said:
“Ryanair is pleased to support this Irish aviation industry declaration to combat unruly passenger behaviour on aircraft. The safety and wellbeing of our crew and passengers is Ryanair’s No.1 priority and we try to eradicate unruly behaviour onboard our aircraft. We will continue to work closely with An Garda Síochána, the IAA, Irish Airports and the wider aviation industry to eliminate all forms of unruly behaviour in airport terminals and onboard our aircraft.”
According to Kenny Jacobs, CEO of daa, the operator of Dublin and Cork airports:
“We’ve great passengers at Dublin and Cork airports, but like every airport in the world there’s sometimes a few bad eggs whose behaviour impacts everyone. We want our airports to be enjoyable and stress-free for passengers and we’re pleased to see the sector coming together to tackle the issue of unruly and dangerous behaviour. Everyone needs to play their part and daa will continue to work closely with our Airport Police teams, our airline partners and An Garda Síochána to ensure unruly passengers are dealt with and our airports are safe and enjoyable places for all.”
Lynn Embleton, Chief Executive of Aer Lingus commented on the charter:
“At Aer Lingus we put safety first, there is nothing more important. We understand that a comfortable and respectful environment is key to ensuring your journey is a pleasant experience. Aer Lingus does not tolerate unruly behaviour of any kind, and in the rare cases where unruly behaviour does occur, we have strict measures in place to ensure that the safety and comfort of our customers and crew is maintained.”
Jim Gavin, Chief Operations Officer of the Irish Aviation Authority said:
“Flying should be an enjoyable and positive experience for passengers. Whilst incidents associated with unruly passenger behaviour occur on only a small number of flights, they can have a significant impact on flight crew, other passengers and even affect the safety of the flight. We want to remind passengers that their actions can have a direct impact on both the safety of crew and others on board an aircraft. We are looking at how we as an aviation industry can address unruly behaviour on flights and put steps in place to ensure passengers and flight crew can have a safe and positive flying experience.”

“We are proud to join our colleagues across the aviation industry in launching the #NotOnMyFlight campaign. As we head into the peak travel season, it’s essential that we address the increasing issue of unruly passenger behaviour head-on. By working together, we can ensure a safe and respectful environment for all passengers and staff. This declaration signifies our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and comfort in airports and on flights,” says Niall Kearns, Airport Director, Shannon Airport.

The declaration sets out an action plan for the Irish aviation industry to reduce the incidence of unruly passenger behaviour in airports and onboard aircraft. The signatories are meeting regularly and engaged on the topic, working together to prevent disruption and enhance enforcement. Specifically, the industry aims to boost its ability to ban passengers through no-fly lists, ensure Gardai are informed of all criminal activity, enhance training for cabin crew and improve communication to passengers to prevent unruly behaviour.
Summertime is one of aviation’s busiest period. With millions of passengers travelling through Irish airports during this period, we are reminding people of their responsibilities when travelling on aircraft. We will not tolerate any behaviour that has the potential to disrupt the passenger experience, impact the safety of the cabin crew and airport staff or create a safety risk to the aircraft and those on board the flight.

Tech Review – ikago Smart Mug Warmer

Precise Infrared Temperature Measurement: ikago mug warmer is the FIRST infrared temperature measurement mug warmer, which can monitor the temperature of the beverage in the cup in real-time. You can get the temperature you want down to exactly one degree, up to 175 means you have complete control over the temperature of your drink.

I am a not a coffee drinker but often have the oul cup of tae as they say and the same for the rest of the family and I am no expert in either with having friends and family that are I find it funny how they make their tea or coffee even at that I have a coffee machine and juicer here for visitors and just leave them to it. Yep the counter is full of gadgets as you would expect from someone like me and hardly use them myself.

With this simple to use product this is just a case of setting the temp and leaving it there to hold that temperature constantly and if your cup goes missing it will cut off as there is a sensor on the unit to let your know, there is no app control here which might have sweetened the deal a bit more not a huge deal to be honest as it is a simple enough thing to use.

It has a solid robust design and looks well actually on my kitchen counter and everyone has commented on it the same some had the laugh and asked what is wrong with the kettle but they miss the point, you can use it to heat the water bit maintain that heat is the trick here as you know tea and coffee goes cold this stops that and I really hate cold tea when drinking it and I am sure coffee lovers are the same.

Features

·         Intelligent Constant Temperature: Since the ikago coffee mug warmer controls the temperature of the drink rather than the heating plate, no matter how much coffee is left in the cup and what the temperature of the beverage is, the ikago smart coffee mug warmer is able to intelligently regulate the temperature and display the drink temperature. Once you find your favorite drink temperature, it’s able to remember your last setting without having to reset it each time.

·         Smart Security Settings: ikago coffee warmer is equipped with the latest program design, can detect whether the cup is on it through infrared, if the cup is not on it then it will automatically stop heating, if the cup leaves the coffee warmer and enters the standby state more than 15 minutes, it will automatically shut down. If the touch bar is not operated for more than 3 seconds, it will be automatically locked to avoid accidental touch.

·         Advanced Configuration: ikago coffee cup warmer’s heating plate adopts high quality die-cast aluminium heat conduction plate, has the best heat conduction efficiency, will not break easily. The edge of the heating plate is designed with a waterproof silica gel ring, and the water guide structure is set inside to prevent electric shock by sprinkling water. Panel and touch bar using matte spray process, more quality, and easier to clean.
