Skyroam has been around a while now and we have checked out their previous model which again like the current offering ideal for those who travel and saves you the hassle of looking for local sims and so on this one has some upgrades but the principal remains the same which is keeping you connected wherever you go and it does just that, Hotel WiFi is not trustworthy in my book as it wants to know too much regardless of GDPR rules, Avoid it if you can and below is an example why in this tweet.

The Solis X has now mics a camera and a flash and some new connectivity options with IFTTT which will be of benefit to some. The camera for me is more a security aspect to an extent, You could leave it in your hotel room for example or anywhere but the idea of skyroam is one of portability for connectivity so you would carry it with you??  You can take videos and images which store on the app and you have a 4GB allowance. I can also see a need for the camera but limited to an extent and would be use case dependent for me, One example would be to keep an eye on my hotel room when not in it but if travelling abroad you buy this for the purpose of staying connected but you get the idea. I would have liked to seem a bluetooth speaker brought on board here as it is ideal for it.

The app works well and is simple to use and I go through this in the video review, Skyroam has day passes and monthly plans but you are not allowed carry over unused data and some are under the good old FUP fair usage policy, this will vary by region and agreements so you need to be careful there as data roaming now is a cash cow for vendors when you go over limits on any plan and the same applies to mobile phones as we all know.

Moving on I love this product and it also allows you to connect up to ten devices,my average is 4 when I travel and I notice no slow down in speeds either so I can continue to work solely of the one device with no issues at all and there is also the added bonus that you have a built in battery bank on board should your phone or tablet run low on juice. Using the device on my testing with Three devices connected all day seen me from 8am to 6pm.
