The idea was launched by the three founders of the young technology company KirMaq.Tech (, composed of Jacob Martin, a native of Amos and Nassim Kirouac, a native of Greenfield Park but who grew up in Val-d’Or. The duo is completed by a friend, Vipul Srivastav.


Camp/y, the 1st smart & connected prevention device for camping, comes in the form of a small owl. Featuring a location system, it comes in direct connection to your cell phone from anywhere in the world, thanks to a mobile application, and can alert you on a multitude of things, starting with advising you to store your stuff as soon as it starts raining. Using thermal sensors, it warns you of the arrival of intruders, both animals and humans. It also detects the presence of propane, butane or carbon monoxide in the air.


Camp/y has an integrated alarm, indicates air quality, can even serve as a flashlight and much more. It is powered by a 5 volt solar cell and measures 4 centimeters in thickness, 8 in height and 4 in width.
The device has already been presented publicly on a few occasions.
