Life360 launches new Tile Bluetooth tracker line

Life360, a family connection and safety company, today introduces an all-new lineup of Tile Bluetooth trackers. Dedicated to making everyday family life better, Life360’s new Tile trackers are designed to help families effortlessly keep track of their valuable items and ensure the safety of their loved ones with enhanced location-sharing capabilities. Each tracker will feature a multi-function button that extends the Life360 app’s SOS services, providing an extra layer of security at the user’s fingertips. In addition to enhanced integration with the Life360 app, models in the new Tile lineup will feature improvements such as extended range, a louder ring, and a refined design, delivering unmatched convenience and peace of mind to customers.

Tile’s full integration with the Life360 app and network is a category-changing next step toward Life360’s vision of keeping its members safe and close to the people, pets, and things they care about. The new multi-function button on Tile’s trackers extends Life360’s SOS feature to Tile devices. In an emergency, pressing the Tile button three times triggers a Life360 SOS alert, which sends a notification and the user’s location information to their Life360 Circle and designated emergency contacts, letting them know something is wrong. SOS alerts are free for all Life360 users.

Additionally, the Life360 app can be used to locate and ring shared Tiled items or ring a connected mobile phone, allowing families to help each other quickly find important items. With compatibility across both iOS and Android, the Tile and Life360 apps ensure that these essential features are accessible to all the important people in your life, regardless of phone choice.

“As we expand Life360’s capabilities, the new Tile lineup advances our vision of a comprehensive solution for staying connected and protecting what matters most to families,” said Chris Hulls, co-founder and CEO of Life360. “With our extensive network of over 70 million monthly active users, finding lost and stolen items is faster and more reliable than ever before. By enhancing the integration of Tile and Life360, we are creating a seamless experience that provides peace of mind by keeping our members close to the people and things they love.”

The Tile lineup features a sleek redesign and four new colours, allowing each family member to select their favourite. Tile trackers also include four unique models, each ready to use right out of the box with no additional accessories. The models include:

  • Tile Mate (£24.99): Tile’s everything tracker with built-in keyring. The Mate is ideal for keeping track of anything from keys and backpacks to lunchboxes and purses.
  • Tile Pro (£34.99): Our most powerful tracker with built-in keyring, the Pro has a louder ring and the longest range. Keep an eye on your most valuable stuff – like your golf bag, camera, or car.
  • Tile Slim (£29.99): Tile’s thinnest tracker, the Slim, slides easily into wallets, passport holders, luggage, and more.
  • Tile Sticker (£24.99): The smallest Bluetooth tracker on the market, the Sticker adheres easily to your loseables and valuables – whether it’s the TV remote or a brand-new bicycle.

Tile Mate, Slim, and Pro each extended their Bluetooth range to be best in class (Tile Pro now ranges up to 500ft), while Tile Mate, Sticker, and Pro each now feature an even louder ring for a superior nearby finding experience. These new features complement Tile’s existing benefits, such as Anti-Theft Mode, a unique feature designed to protect high-value items from theft. Unlike competitors, Tile won’t alert thieves to its presence via notifications, so users have an improved chance of recovering their valuables.

Life360 offers various membership tiers – Free, Silver, Gold, and Platinum – designed to meet the diverse needs of families. The optional Gold and Platinum memberships, available in the UK, US, Australia, and Canada, provide additional benefits, including the ability to contact emergency dispatch services with the Tile’s SOS feature.

This means members do not have to call for help themselves; the dispatcher will assess the situation and contact the appropriate authorities. Other optional premium benefits include Roadside Assistance, Stolen Phone Protection, 30 days of Location History, Individual Driving Reports, and much more, offering an extra layer of security and peace of mind.

The new Tile Mate, Slim, and Sticker is available from Tile.com and major retailers worldwide. The Tile Pro will be available in early October. For more information on Tile’s latest updates and other initiatives, visit Tile.com.

Tile integrates with Life360 as location app announces 64% increase in UK paid membership

Life360, the family locator app and safety membership platform, has today announced a 64% growth in UK premium members over the last year, alongside a range of new features included in its free membership offering, rolling out over the next weeks. This includes further integration with Tile, the leading Bluetooth tracker brand it acquired in 2021.

Used by more than three million people in the UK and 50 million people worldwide, Life360 offers families peace of mind by allowing them to coordinate daily activities in real time, find important items, stay connected with those who matter most, and assist in emergencies.

The Tile integration allows Life360 users’ entire “Circle” of family and friends to see the location of important items within their Life360 map. Life360 members will automatically be able to see Tile and Tile-enabled products’ last reported location, so everyone in their Circle can easily locate shared items or help each other retrieve something that’s been misplaced. Tiles can be attached to everyday essentials like bikes, keys, wallets, bags, and more.

Life 360 existing features include; advanced intelligent location sharing between Circle (group) members through Place Alerts, which send a push notification when members leave or arrive at a designated location; Check-ins, which allow a user to send their location via push notification instantly to every member in their Circle and Family Driving Reports, which allow families to see how (and what) drivers are doing behind the wheel to encourage safe habits and more.

Other new free features unveiled today include:

Free Crash Detection, which notifies Circle members and emergency contacts when Life360 detects they are in a car accident. If help is needed or the member doesn’t respond within a five-minute grace period, all Circle members and emergency contacts are notified via a text message with the user’s exact location. The app notification will also play a unique sound on the phone that will repeat for either 10 minutes or until the notification is acted upon. Of course, no one ever expects to be in a car crash, but the truth is that they happen more often than you might think and the time it takes to get help is critical.

Enhanced SOS, which means that after triggering an SOS Alert, a 10 second countdown will begin, after which Life360 will call and text all Circle members and emergency contacts for the Circle the alert was triggered in. Circle members will also receive a push notification. The phone call and text message will say where the user was when the SOS Alert was triggered. SOS alerts are available to all Life360 users, meaning parents of all ages, including new drivers and university students, can be reassured that if a loved one requires emergency assistance but can’t contact 999 because they are unable to talk on the phone, Life360 can help.

David Rice, Life360’s International GM and CSO, said: “There’s a reason why one in eleven UK families already use Life360. The launch of these new services form part of our vision to expand our offering in the UK and to help better connect and protect the people and things that matter most.

“Members can now expand their Circle to include items using Tile and these services combined feed into our mission to deliver safety options for families and their things. So whether you’re retrieving keys lost down the back of the sofa with Tile, or sending your teen driver immediate help following Life360’s crash detection, the ability to confirm the people and things that matter most are safe and accounted for and takes the stress out of everyday life.”

As a top 25 iOS app in the UK, Life360 will be introducing more additional features to the UK market over the coming months.

Tile Takes Aim at Bluetooth Tracker Industry’s Theft and Stalking Measures with Launch of Anti-Theft Mode

Tile, a Life360 company and the pioneer in finding technology, today announces the launch of Anti-Theft Mode—a feature designed to protect valuables from theft by increasing the chances of recovery. This is accomplished by making Tile Bluetooth trackers operating in Anti-Theft Mode undetectable by Scan and Secure, an in-app feature that allows both iPhone and Android users to scan for and detect nearby Tiles and Tile-enabled devices. Tile users can activate Anti-Theft Mode on any Tile tracker in use now, including Tile-enabled partner products. Anti-Theft Mode will begin rolling out to Tile users today and be available to all users in the coming weeks.

Tile’s new feature is designed to protect users’ valuables and has been developed in response to customer demand and following a period when theft rates have increased (by 20% in the UK in the year ending September 2022), with economic uncertainty likely to drive robbery rates even higher. Anti-Theft Mode makes it easier to recover stolen valuables by making it harder for thieves to know an item is being tracked.

Unlike other Bluetooth trackers on the market, namely AirTags, Tile does not notify nearby smartphone users when an unknown Bluetooth tracker is travelling with them. These proactive notifications can communicate to thieves that a tracker is on the stolen item, allowing them to remove it and making recovering the item less likely. Some competitor products go as far as to issue an audible beep once the tracker has been separated from its owner, making it clear that a tracker is present and enabling thieves to find it with precision. The proactive notifications found in the Bluetooth tracker industry were designed to prevent stalking; however, these anti-stalking measures have been criticised for being insufficient for victim protection. Instead, these alerts have the possibility of making Bluetooth trackers easily identifiable by thieves.

Users can choose to activate Anti-Theft Mode on any Tile, rendering the tracker invisible on Scan and Secure. This feature, in addition to Tile’s existing lack of proactive alerts to nearby smartphones about a tracker in the vicinity, makes it much harder for thieves to locate Tile trackers on stolen goods.

“Anti-Theft Mode is the only solution in the Bluetooth finding category designed to make it harder for thieves to get away with valuables,” said Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Life360 Chris Hulls. “We know that families don’t have time to misplace their items and certainly don’t have the time or money to replace belongings when they get stolen. We’re giving our users a solution that empowers them with a choice. The choice to make their devices invisible to Scan and Secure if they wish, and sleep a little easier at night knowing Tile is doing everything we can to protect their valuables.”

To activate Anti-Theft Mode, users must submit and apply for an advanced ID verification process that includes a biometric scan to accurately detect fake IDs. Once ID verification is complete, the user will be registered with Tile, and Anti-Theft Mode will be activated across all of the user’s Tile Bluetooth trackers. Syncing a government-issued ID, such as a passport or driving license, with a Tile user’s account is a proactive measure to deter the feature from being used for nefarious purposes, such as stalking. Anonymity is directly linked with abusive behaviour both in person and online so Tile is eliminating anonymity and bringing in the latest ID verification technology to its Anti-Theft Mode offering.

In addition, the company is taking a highly collaborative stance with the police and Anti-Theft Mode users must acknowledge that personal information can and will be shared with them at Tile’s discretion, to aid in the investigation and prosecution of suspected stalking.

Anti-Theft Mode’s strict usage terms and verification process are progressive safety measures at the product level to protect against unintended uses, like stalking, by holding bad actors accountable and providing victims with actionable resources against their stalkers. Multi-factor ID verification, defined consequences and clearly established cooperation with police forces are crucial steps in deterring stalking—as well as halting unwanted future conduct5.

“Location sharing and finding have become a part of our daily fabric, and it’s not going anywhere. We develop products for the vast majority of people who use them as intended, and for those who do not, we are committed to cooperating fully with the police,” said Hulls. “To meaningfully address stalking with technology, we must implement safeguards like ID registration of all location-enabled devices that are small enough to be planted on a person so police forces have information to pursue justice for victims. In the meantime, we’ll do what we can at the product level to keep people safe from the outlying cases of bad actors while increasing the likelihood of recovering stolen items with Tile to help people live more relaxed lives.”

Users wanting to keep track of valuables in an under-the-radar manner can choose to activate Anti-Theft Mode for any Tile in the brand’s product line of Bluetooth trackers. Tile products come in various shapes, sizes and styles, including the Tile Pro, Tile Mate, Tile Slim, and Tile Sticker. Users must be 18+ to activate Anti-Theft Mode.

Tile Launches Lost and Found Labels Alongside Signature Bluetooth Trackers, Creating a Comprehensive Lost and Found Network

Tile, a Life360 company and the pioneer in finding technology, today announces the launch of Lost and Found Labels in the UK. Available now online on Tile.com, Lost and Found Labels combine an adhesive QR code Label with the free Tile app to connect owners and finders. Lost and Found Labels are Tile’s latest solution to aid in its mission of keeping everyone connected to the things they love by simplifying the return of lost items to their owners.

Lost and Found Labels allow owners to attach the QR code Label to important items, and add contact information with a personalised message through the free Tile app. If the item is lost, the finder can simply scan the QR code Label, clearly marked with the Tile logo, view the provided contact information and return the item. Lost and Found Labels offer a discreet solution for adding identifiable information to items where Bluetooth trackers are not the right option. This reduces the time it takes to be reunited with lost items, and provides owners with peace of mind that if important items go missing, they will make it home. Items that would be a fit for Lost and Found Labels include school books, travel mugs, musical instruments, sports equipment, and earbud cases.

“The addition of Lost and Found Labels to Tile’s product suite enhances our global network by making all important items findable,” said Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Life360 Chris Hulls. “This is the first of many steps Life360 and Tile combined are taking to make every day easier with ways to stay organised, connected with family members, and safe.”

Tile began incorporating QR codes on the back of Bluetooth devices in 2021 to support the return of lost items. Lost and Found Labels are Tile’s first stand-alone QR code-style adhesive, making Tile’s family of products that much more versatile to help users keep track of their favourite items. Tile’s entire product line comes in various shapes, sizes, and styles, including the Tile Pro, Tile Mate, Tile Slim, and Tile Sticker.

Lost and Found Labels are available in forest, plum and teal colours and can be purchased at Tile.com.

TILE Collaborates with Dell, Lenovo, MSI and Fujitsu to make products findable.

Tile, the pioneer in finding technology, continues to expand its Find With Tile business through a variety of collaborations, including a new partnership with Dell to launch the first-ever stylus pen with built-in finding technology. Tile is also further collaborating with Intel Corporation to bring its finding technology to Lenovo™, MSI and Fujitsu PCs.

“Tile brings people peace of mind by eliminating the stress of losing or misplacing the things you need to get through your day, so embedding our technology seamlessly into the tools that are essential for productivity is a clear value add,” said CJ Prober, CEO of Tile. “We’re very proud to be teaming up with Dell to bring consumers the first findable stylus pen and to further grow our PC business to include other top OEMs in the market.”

Starting today, consumers worldwide can purchase the new Dell Premier Rechargeable Active Pen (PN7522W) with built-in Tile finding technology. The new pen features the longest battery life of any active pen with a 40-day run time and lets users create with ease on their compatible Dell 2-in-1 laptops, a convenience that’s lost if the slender pen is misplaced. To avoid that scenario, users can now use the free Tile app to ring their pen if it’s nearby, and if it’s lost on-the-go they can use the Tile app to view its most recent location or enlist the secure help of Tile’s global Network to aid in their search.

Tile is also significantly growing its presence in the PC category with the addition of several Intel-powered laptops, including models from Lenovo, MSI and Fujitsu. In January, Lenovo announced new Tile-enabled ThinkPad™ X1 laptops, and now Lenovo is adding to their lineup of findable PCs with the launch of the ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 5 and the latest ThinkPad T Series, arming a total of seven new Lenovo models with Tile’s full suite of finding features. Starting this month, consumers can also leverage Tile’s finding power in MSI’s new Intel 12th Gen Summit and Prestige Series, laptops that are built for productivity and now offer the pre-installed Tile Windows App. In Japan, the new Fujitsu FMV LOOX PCs are also rolling out this month with Tile functionality.

“We are thrilled about our continued collaboration with Tile and the growing list of partners who are delivering great wireless experiences on 12th Gen Intel® Core™ processor-based laptops with integrated Intel® Wi-Fi 6E (Gig+),” said Eric McLaughlin, VP Client Computing Group, GM Wireless Solutions Group, Intel. “We can now offer not only faster Wi-Fi speeds, lower latencies, and enhanced reliability but also innovative Tile finding capabilities as laptops continue to play an essential role in our lives.”

To make any of these new laptops findable, users simply download and install the free Tile Windows App from the Microsoft Store and activate their PC as a Tile. When nearby, they can then locate and ring their laptop using the free Tile app on any Android or iOS smartphone, even if it’s shut down and offline, for up to 14 days. For even more convenient finding experiences, users can sync their Tile account in the Alexa App or Google Home app for voice-enabled finding and they can ring their misplaced phone by tapping “Find” on their phone icon in the Windows app.

Tile’s embedded business has been expanding rapidly in the PC category since its first PC partnership with HP. Thanks to a collaboration with Intel, Tile is able to seamlessly integrate with PC original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), making it even easier to make Intel-powered PCs findable.

Tile’s finding technology is embedded in over 55 different third-party devices across audio, wearables, travel, smart home, pet and PC categories. Learn more at tile.com/partners.
