ANGOKA’s Drone Summit returns for a second year

Belfast based cybersecurity firm ANGOKA is to host its second UK & Ireland Drone Summit sponsored by KPMG and the Royal Air Force.

The summit will bring speakers from across Europe to discuss the evolution and revolution of drones, and the important role that cybersecurity plays in the accuracy and security of the communications between devices.

The conference, which will take place on November 20th in KPMG’s Belfast offices, will include a live security demonstration which will see a live hacking attempt to illustrate this landscape and how ANGOKA can mitigate for all eventualities using its secure communication technology.

Between keynote speakers and panel discussions, the summit will explore the cyber challenge for UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles), technology drivers behind UAV advancements and the regulatory and social challenge for UAVs.

The Belfast firm has partnered with a number of projects in the UK Research and Innovation’s Future Flight Challenge including Skyway in which air traffic corridors in the south of England have been designated for drones and unmanned aircraft. ANGOKA also supplies the hacker-proof security for automated, teleoperated and unmanned aircraft using these corridors.

Over 160 eBay Sellers from Five European Countries Come Together in Dublin

eBay Ireland hosted its annual eBay Export Summit connecting over 160 eBay sellers from Ireland and across Europe.

The eBay Export Summit, in partnership with Enterprise Ireland, supports eBay Ireland’s commitment to creating economic opportunity for all, by helping sellers grow their business globally. The Summit gave SMEs from Ireland and the wider Europe an opportunity to access best practices and tips on growing their business on eBay, as well as learn from real success stories.

Sellers from Ireland, Spain, Poland, the Netherlands and Belgium, operating in different areas such as luxury fashion, car parts and accessories, home and gardening, or electronics and collectables, attended the Summit to network and learn from a diverse range of expertise and experience.

At the Summit, attendees had an opportunity to hear from other entrepreneurs, industry leaders and potential partners, as well as to interact with eBay’s experienced team of professionals, dedicated to supporting the sellers’ eCommerce journey. A panel discussion invited four sellers from Ireland, the Netherlands, Spain and Poland, to share their journey and advice with the attendees.

During the Summit, participants heard from keynote speaker Pedro Neto, Interim Head of EU Cross Border Trade at eBay, on how sellers can expand globally with eBay, beyond their local market. Dedicated break-out sessions for each of the represented countries allowed sellers to get  advice on growing their business, tailored for their specific market. There were also presentations from key eBay partners, including Webinterpret, Multibreves, Baslinker and ChannelEngine.

Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) to participate in the 2023 EuCNC & 6G Summit Event

The Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) is proud to announce its participation in the upcoming European Conference on Networks and Communications (EuCNC) and 6G Summit joint event in Gothenburg, Sweden, from 6-9 June 2023. This event will bring together experts in the field of networks and communications from across the world to discuss the latest research and innovations in 5G, 6G and future communications systems.

Launched in 2022, the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) is an EU funding body that drives research and innovation in the field of smart networks and services, with the ultimate goal of enhancing the digital infrastructure of the future and building Europe’s leadership in this area. The SNS JU currently supports 35 Research and Innovation (R&I) projects across 9 key technological areas and with over €250 million of investment. These ongoing projects are now reaching milestones in their respective fields. Some 25 more projects should start at the beginning of 2024.

The SNS JU was instrumental in advancing the field of networks and services – particularly in the context of the upcoming 6G technology. It works closely with the 5G Public-Private Partnership (5G PPP) to ensure a seamless transition from 5G to 6G, with the aim of creating a robust and reliable digital infrastructure in Europe.
The 2023 EuCNC & 6G Summit focuses on all aspects of telecommunications ranging from 5G deployment and mobile Internet of Things (IoT) to 6G exploration and future communications systems and networks, bringing together cutting-edge research, and world-renowned industries and businesses. In past editions, the event has attracted over 1,300 delegates from 40 countries and featured over 70 exhibitors.

Director for Future Networks at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DG CONNECT) Pearse O’Donohue will open the event.
“We are all using 4G. 5G is being introduced. And 6G is something that is coming at the end of the decade. So it is important that we already start the research in this area, so we make sure we have the necessary technology ready for our economy, services and our society”, Peter Stuckmann, Interim Executive Director of the SNS JU stated in a recent interview.

Colin Willcock, Chairman of the SNS JU Governing Board and the 6G Industry Association (6G-IA) will also participate in the event. He underlines “what is unique about the SNS JU is that it’s a Public Private Partnership”. Indeed, funding for the SNS JU comes from both the public side (European Commission) and the private (European industry). “This way, we make sure we look at the right problems, so we create the right technology for European industry going forward”, Willcock concluded.

8,000 phones 1,000 selfies, 400 hotel beds and more as Dublin Tech Summit takes over capital

The organisers of this year’s Dublin Tech Summit (DTS) say they expect a surge in demand for pints of Guinness, an increase in the number of selfies and a spike in hotel accommodation ahead of next week’s leading technology conference. Taking place at the RDS in Dublin on the 15th and 16th of June, it marks the event’s return to a physical capacity after 2 years of being held virtually due to COVID.

Over 8,000 attendees, 200 speakers, 150 startups and 65 partners from over 50 countries are expected to turnout for the conference which attracts the world’s biggest names in technology and innovation. It also provides early stage companies with opportunities to get recognised as the latest up and coming tech players across Europe. With over 150 staff involved in the organisation of the event, it is expected that:

  • 2,500 pints of Guinness will be consumed by attendees over the course of 2 days

  • 8,000 phones will be used with a minimum of 160,000 whatsapp messages sent

  • 1,000 selfies will be taken

  • 400 hotel beds will be occupied

  • 2,500 cups of coffee will be enjoyed

Dublin Tech Summit 2022 reinforces Ireland’s position on the world stage as being a European Hub for tech. Dubbed ‘Europe’s Silicon Valley’ the event aims to highlight Ireland’s attractiveness as a tech destination – playing host to the tech giants Google, Apple, Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter amongst others.
