Ecofil Expands into Hospitality Market

Ecofil, Ireland’s leading provider of sustainable bottle filling stations, has officially announced its expansion into the hospitality sector with the launch of a new premium range of bottle coolers and water dispensers, unveiled at the Irish Hotel Federation (IHF) Showtel 2026 Conference which took place last week in Killarney.

The new range marks a strategic evolution for the Irish water solutions provider, which has spent recent years establishing its market-leading outdoor brand, Iconic V. Today, the Iconic V bottle-filling station is recognised as the number one outdoor hydration solution on the island of Ireland, with more than 20 local authorities selecting Ecofil as their preferred supplier of public water equipment.

Peter Wynne, Managing Director of Ecofil, said, “Following the success of Iconic V in the outdoor environment, we are now bringing that same focus on sustainability, design and reliability to the hospitality and wider business sectors. This new range allows us to deliver tailored, high-performance water solutions that meet the specific operational needs of hotels, restaurants and commercial clients.”

During his visit to Showtel, Mr Wynne travelled to the historic Garnish Island, where Ecofil has recently installed another Iconic V outdoor water station. The installation forms part of an ongoing collaboration with the Office of Public Works (OPW) to help eliminate single-use plastic bottles from protected heritage sites.

Mr Wynne added, “Working with the OPW on treasured locations such as Garnish Island is both a challenge and a privilege. These projects reflect our commitment to sustainability and to protecting Ireland’s natural and historic environments.”

Ecofil confirmed that additional innovative products will be introduced in the second half of 2026, further strengthening its position as a leading Irish provider of sustainable water solutions. Ecofil continues to invest in innovation, sustainability and Irish manufacturing as it expands across both public and commercial sectors.

As part of the ERG Group, Ecofil will also benefit from ERG’s long-established reputation within the Irish hospitality sector. With a trusted customer base of over 1,000 clients, ranging from independent pubs to large hotel groups, ERG provides Ecofil with immediate access to established relationships where credibility and service standards are already recognised.

Ecofil Installs Iconic V Bottle Filling Station at Derrynane House

Ecofil Limited, Ireland’s leading provider of sustainable bottle filling stations, has completed the installation of its flagship Iconic V unit at Derrynane House, the ancestral home of Daniel O’Connell. The timing of this milestone coincides with preparations by the Office of Public Works (OPW) to commemorate the 250th anniversary of O’Connell’s birth.

The new Ecofil station provides a modern amenity for visitors to refill and reuse water bottles, encouraging environmentally conscious behaviour at a site deeply rooted in Irish history. Designed and manufactured in Ireland, the Iconic V units integrate seamlessly into heritage settings while championing sustainability.

This installation is part of a broader collaboration between the OPW and Ecofil, aimed at deploying Iconic V stations across a nationwide network of parks, public buildings, and historic landmarks.

Jimmy Guerin, Director of Ecofil, said, “We are extremely proud of having our Iconic V machine installed at such a meaningful and historic location. Derrynane House holds a special place in Irish history, and contributing to its sustainability journey aligns perfectly with Ecofil’s mission. Encouraging visitors to reuse and refill is a small act with a big impact—and doing that at a national hero’s home makes it even more significant.”

This initiative reflects Ecofil’s ongoing commitment to environmental leadership and its continued partnership with public sector organisations to reduce single-use plastics. The Iconic V water station has been installed in numerous public locations throughout Ireland including sports clubs and arenas, schools, universities and cultural locations. Ecofil is headquartered in Fingal, Dublin.

The Main Benefits of Lockout Stations

In an industrial setting, there are a lot of things that can go wrong. Using large, potentially dangerous machines requires great safety protocols to keep workers safe. One of the best measures for implementing safety is a lockout station.

If you aren’t quite sure what a lockout station is, it is a place where lockout keys and tags are stored for each machine. As it turns out, there are several benefits to be had by having at least one lockout station on the shop floor.

Improved Organization

At first glance, the biggest benefit of lockout stations from a vendor like RS is improved organization. One of the most critical aspects of workplace safety is ensuring that all workers are on the same page and know where things are. That can cut down on inefficiencies and eliminate potentially simple errors from creeping up.

With a dedicated space for storing lockout tools, devices, and accessories, there are no questions about where to find them. It prevents potential misplacement or loss of those essential safety items. It also promotes a more organized workplace, something that can benefit everyone in the end. Don’t overlook how valuable something so small and seemingly inconsequential can be.

Clearly Visible

A simple but common issue as it relates to workplace safety is visibility. Keeping your lockout station in an area that isn’t easily accessible or visible will create confusion and other potential issues. It puts things back at square one. For that reason, lockout stations need to be stored in clearly visible spots to improve accessibility.

A lockout station typically comes designed with compartments and labeling that are easy to see. You can find a variety of lockout devices all in one convenient place. It not only promotes better organization but also makes it easy to identify the various lockout items. Finally, it promotes using the proper lockout tools for each task, making the workplace safer as a whole.

Critical Information in One Place

Information is one of the most vital parts of workplace safety. When everyone is on the same page and knows where things are, it cuts down on confusion. Having a centralized lockout station also means having proper information in one place, making it easily accessible so that everyone remains informed at all times.

Essential information like emergency contact details, equipment specifications, and lockout/tagout procedures are all incredible. Allowing workers to have the proper information readily available is as important as it gets. There is no question about where to find that information, limiting confusion while taking workplace safety to an entirely different level.

Safety Reminders

Sometimes, workers need continuous reminders of safety protocols. It’s not that they don’t care, more that they are busy with a million other things throughout the day. It becomes easy to forget about safety protocols, especially if you aren’t necessarily practicing them on a regular basis. By having safety reminders in the lockout stations themselves, there is a constant reminder of those safety protocols.

Having a lockout station prominently displayed will serve as a constant reminder of the importance of safety. They will see how critical the lockout/tagout procedures are to workplace safety. Most importantly, it means promoting a more safety-conscious culture throughout the workplace. That is the best way to implement safety procedures on a company-wide basis.

At the end of the day, it might not look like much, but a lockout station can wind up being a game-changer. They are easy to implement, make everything better organized, and ensure that workers are constantly reminded of current safety standards and procedures that must be followed.

Dublin Fire Brigade installs Public Access Defibrillators at all its stations

In support of international ‘Restart a Heart’ day, Dublin Fire Brigade unveils fourteen new Public Access Automatic External Defibrillators (AED) located prominently outside each of its fire stations across the city and county. This is a significant step forward in enhancing community safety and will be available 24/7 to provide immediate assistance especially during critical moments when every second counts. These AEDs will guide an untrained person through Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and defibrillation, with voice prompts and encouragement while paramedics make their way to the patient and guidance is provided by Emergency Service Controllers over the 999/112 call.

The installation of the AEDs was prompted by an incident which happened outside Finglas fire station in January of this year. Pauline Ryan suffered a cardiac arrest in Finglas village while she was a passenger in a car being driven by her sister, who had the presence of mind to pull in to the fire station. At the time, the fire appliance, ambulance and all their medical equipment were out at another call, co-incidently, another Cardiac Arrest. Fortunately, the District Officer and a Firefighter/Paramedic were in the station and were able to perform life-saving CPR on Pauline until the arrival of colleagues from Phibsborough Fire Station, who were able to successfully defibrillate and resuscitate Pauline.

There is a simultaneous unveiling of the AEDs across all fourteen locations, and we are joined at Finglas Fire Station by Dublin Lord Mayor Daithí de Róiste. Speaking at the launch the Lord Mayor said, “I’m honoured to unveil the Public Access Defibrillator here at Finglas Fire Station, and to be part of the simultaneous launch of thirteen other AEDs across the city. The life-saving piece of equipment is a positive addition to the local community and to the people of Dublin.”

Dublin’s Chief Fire Officer is represented today by Assistant Chief Fire Officer Greg O’Dwyer who commented, “The Firefighter/Paramedics and Officers of Dublin Fire Brigade recognise the fire, rescue and medical role they provide in the wider community but also their closest neighbours to our 14 stations. Obviously we hope that these AEDs never have to be used, but we also hope that the installation of the AEDs provide some piece of mind and reassurance to our neighbours or commuters who pass our stations.”

Pauline, whose medical emergency prompted the installation of the AEDs joined with the Firefighters at the launch. Pauline said, “Only for the quick actions of my sister, the two firefighters in Finglas fire station and their colleagues from Phibsborough, I may not be here today. To them I am forever grateful. Knowing what I know now, I would encourage everyone from a young age to learn CPR. It is a life skill, literally“

This initiative aligns with Dublin Fire Brigade’s dedication to proactive community engagement and safety. By having these AEDs at our fire stations, we aim to bridge the gap between emergency services and the public fostering a sense of unity and co-operation within our great city. Dublin Fire Brigade encourages members of the community to take a course in CPR and the use of an AED. Visit www.irishheart.ie for a list of available “Heartsaver AED and CPR” courses in your area.

The AEDs are located outside each of the fourteen fire stations in a heated secure box. Members of the public can access the defibrillators by calling 999/112 stating their location. Simultaneously medical help will be dispatched and guidance will be given over the phone.
