Tech Review – Creative Outlier Free+ and Outlier Free Pro+

Bone conduction headphones have surged in popularity over the last two years and we know that due to the numerous models we have tested and stay tuned for more by the way which are in the review process and for the most these are simple products to use and set up and again for the most there is no app to content with so they are a connect to your phone device and away you go, some however offer more and then you have Air conduction headphones.

Creative however is not new to the scene here nor is the brand and known for delivering excellent audio products be it speakers headphones or earbuds and this is their second time around now with these bone conducting headphones and there is an improvement on last years models and that being in the sound department.

I am speaking about the two products in one review because they are almost identical and the pro offering extra on board storage and a better IP rating other than that the sound for me was identical the controls are identical and the audio profiles are also identical so is the looks apart from the colour choice.

The build quality is great as before and these are super robust they could be flung about the place and still work they can be twisted and tortured and they still work so they are built to last.

Some folk find these neckband type headphones annoying and the questions I always get asked is does the band bounce up and down and how do they sound same two questions all the time oddly enough they never ask about battery life or any other factors.

The neckband sits nicely on your neck to begin with and stays there even in the gym once you have these sat on your ears correct there will be no issue now you might get the odd bounce on the neck if you push it but for the most they are grand and comfortable the only difference is they don’t do in your ears and that is a transition you can only decide if it is for you and it is not as bad as some might be lead to believe.

Controls are simple to use on these guys and both identical you cet three small raised buttons that are tactile and work well to do all the things you need to do so which is volume control skip and reverse tracks play and pause control calls and activate your voice assistant so you have all the controls required however there is no app here.. You have a mfb or better known as a multifunction button which you press 4 times yes 4 times to change the latency, now I say 4 times however there is some earbuds I recently tested that went up to 5 times to do something which is a bit of a joke to be honest.

How do they sound then, well they will and bone conducting headphones will never be as good as headphones or earbuds however the sound quality is getting better as the technology improves over time and for me it has from what I have tested to date and these have vastly improved over their previous models and you have to take into account these are aimed at the sporty person but anyone can wear them which I often do asides from testing.

These both have some bass in there pretty decent sound overall for the technology in play here and deliver a good audio experience whilst being able to hear what is going on around you which is important, not as good as in ear earbuds or headphones but overall you can’t complain when using this technology but it is getting better.

Tech Review – Creative Outlier Free Pro bone conduction headphones

Bone conduction headphones are now a thing and after reviewing multiple pairs here we can see why this is the case as they apply technology in a different way and is more beneficial to the ears which is important for your own health. Creative have recently launched two new pairs of such and we are checking out the Outlier Free Pro today after some time with them, not featuring all the aspects traditional earbuds do this pair is for those who are into sports and you can even take a dip with these on which for me is something I would never do but here you can if you want to do so and be different.

The design is familiar here with these bone conducting headphones and it will be some time before we see new designs or companies being bold whilst this style takes off. These simply just wrap around your ears and rest on your neck and can be worn in more ways than one depending who you are i guess.

They are super light and covered with a nice rubberised material giving them their IPX8 rating which is the highest yet to be seen on such a product. They are comfortable to wear for long periods of time and you will forget they are there, you can angle these in two ways if you want to be different too but they are designed to be worn one way but they do work in two ways by changing the angle and where you place the bud part.

There is a simple option on board to control these two with the buttons just placed on one side which keeps it simple like any other of these bone conduction headphones I have tried out so far. The three buttons are raised and easy to navigate too. There is more than meets the eye with just three buttons present too and they basically do all the things you need to on a pair of earbuds.

You can store music on these or just connect to your smartphone there is 8GB of onboard storage and you can switch between either by pressing the multifunction button which also changes the latency option.

You can play and pause skip and reverse tracks and control your volume too and manage calls and furthermore have access to your voice assistant. We demo all this in the video review below.

The Outlier Free Pro stands out even more with its 8GB (stores 2,000 MP3 songs) built-in music player (also compatible with FLAC, WAV and APE file formats); it enables users to enjoy their favorite tunes without the need to carry their mobile phones. Thanks to its IPX8 rating (the highest waterproof rating for water immersion), swimmers can even swim underwater in the pool.

When it comes to sound they have a nice level of bass these type of headphones will not give the same effect as earbuds but it is not far off and overall they sound good and the best from what I have tried to date for music videos and more there is one thing though if you have them turned up to the max if you are on a bus etc the person beside you will heat what you are listening to. The Outlier Free Pro offers up to 10 hours of battery life per charge 10 minutes of quick-charging provides 2 hours of playtime at around 75% charge which is not bad but if using full volume like me you can expect around 9 and a half hours but with the quick charge you are good to go rather fast.

Overall a solid first attempt at a new line that gives good tunes and battery life along with protection for those who are into sports and more demanding on build quality and full of features you would expect to find on your traditional earbuds.

Tech Review – Creative Outlier Pro

The latest earbuds from Creative have been in for testing the last few weeks and once again we see the company deliver an affordable pair of earbuds with all the bells and whistles thrown in too and the colour here is another thing that I like and looks really well.

The Outlier Pro come in a familiar looking case that has wireless charging built in and a USB-C port for wired charging which in turn gives you around 38 hrs of battery life in real world testing and this of course varies by how you use your earbuds, With ANC on and high volume you will get less but everyone is different on how they listen to their earbuds.

They have a larger profile too than most earbuds but still sit comfortably in the ear although they do protrude and bit but having said that they fit well a do not fall out and when it comes to controlling them this works well too due to the large touch area on the buds.

There is a two apps you can use with the Outler pro that maximise the sound quality we have a look at those in the video review below and it is certainly worth noting that you should use both apps or at least try and that is due to the Super X-FI app which does what you want and more. The app allows you see what holographic audio is like as we have discussed before.

When it comes to sound yes they deliver yet again, you have support for aptX but AAC and SBC which is fine as the app allows you some fine tuning and again you can check their both apps to allow you decide yourself from the long list of presets or make your own, highs lows and mids are fine nice bass and treble here and overall a good audio experince for the price, the ANC is not the best out there but does enough to make it passable as a feature you have also got the option to hear your surroundings too. Also on their app is an option to use low latency which is intended more so at gamers an this works fine.

Creative Outlier Pro is specially tuned to support Super X-Fi READY – a free preview version of the Super X-Fi technology, which is available through the SXFI app. Users can sample Super X-Fi headphone holography on local music content inside their phones.

Creative launch the Outlier Pro True Wireless

Creative Technology today announced the launch of Creative Outlier Pro, the latest and best addition to the well-received Outlier True Wireless series. Featuring an array of nifty new features, the newly-designed earbuds are set to take the True Wireless game up a notch with Hybrid Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) plus Ambient Mode, and an impressive battery life of up to 60 hours for a truly better listening experience. Coupled with a total of six microphones, customizable touch controls, IPX5-certified water resistance, Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity and wireless charging, Creative Outlier Pro stands out as the ideal true wireless earbuds that have it all packed into a portable and pocket-friendly form factor.

Creative Outlier Pro is packed with must-have features that matter for a truly superior wireless experience.

Turn Down the Noise, Turn Up the Clarity

Creative Outlier Pro offers users an impeccable listening experience with Hybrid ANC, which is typically found only on high-end headphones. This ANC technology is ‘hybrid’ in that it combines both the feedforward and feedback ANC systems on each earbud to effectively block out unwanted background noises. So, users can stay in the zone while on an important conference call or listening to their favorite tunes without distractions.

On the flip side, users can also switch over to Ambient Mode to let just the right amount of ambient sound in, which comes in handy when users want to be aware of the environment, for example while walking near a traffic junction. The controls are seamless and can be easily accessible with simple taps on the earbuds to toggle between ANC Mode and Ambient Mode, or users can also control it via the Creative app.

In addition, with the new and larger 10 mm graphene-coated driver diaphragms expertly tuned by Creative’s in-house audio engineers, Creative Outlier Pro offers an improved acoustic performance all round. This translates to better clarity, enhanced bass, and effective ANC quality – all while improving power efficiency of the earbuds.

Go Beyond All Day

With a juiced-up battery life of up to 60 hours in total, and a playtime of up to 15 hours on a single charge, Creative Outlier Pro is the perfect audio companion for long commutes, workouts, or endless Netflix marathons. Even with hybrid ANC turned on, users will be able to get a playtime of 10 hours on a single charge, and up to 40 hours in total.

On top of that, these earbuds also come with different sets of soft silicone ear tips that make it hassle-free for users to find the perfect fit to achieve the optimal seal for better noise insulation and greater comfort.

Lastly, the icing on the cake for Creative Outlier Pro is the user-friendly Creative app that allows users to customize the touch controls to suit their preferences and activate a series of useful features such as the Low Latency Mode. This newly added feature reduces the latency of the Creative Outlier Pro by more than half, so users can enjoy better synchronized music and video content.
