Future-Leading Sustainability

Its housing incorporates 95% recycled plastic, promoting the reduction of plastic waste, conservation of resources, and reuse of materials. The monitor’s packaging and cushioning are also made from recycled materials to minimise environmental impact. Optimised packaging size allows for increased loading efficiency by approximately 50% and a decrease in GHG (Greenhouse Gas) emissions during transport by up to 42%. Corporate customers have options for collective packaging, with or without desk stands, to further reduce overall waste and streamline installation time.

From the procurement and manufacturing to shipping and usage, the GHG emissions throughout the entire product lifecycle of the FLT have been reduced by approximately 32% compared to a previous 23.8-inch monitor.

 

Future-Leading Workstyle

As modern workstyles diversify, workspaces must evolve to empower individuals to work efficiently, creatively, and comfortably. The FLT features USB Type-C ports for a single-cable connection to a laptop, enabling video display, USB signal transmission, and a maximum of 60 watts of power supply to a connected PC. The FlexScan FLT is also the first EIZO monitor to support power supply from external devices via USB Type-C, allowing it to operate without the need for an AC adapter.

The FlexScan FLT’s Auto EcoView function automatically adjusts the screen brightness based on ambient lighting changes, while the EcoView Optimizer 2 function fine-tunes brightness and gain according to displayed content. Together, these technologies enhance viewing comfort and minimise power consumption. The monitors new Eco Mode preset automatically activates both functions for easy access.

Users can view the power consumption of the FLT and connected devices, including the PC, in real time through the OSD, promoting eco-consciousness. Additionally, they can choose to display this information statically at the edge of the screen for quick, at-a-glance reference.

Future-Leading Design

Celest IgniteX Beast Earbuds Review

The Celest IgniteX Beast Earbuds comes with 10mm LCP dynamic drivers,0.78mm 2pin interchangeable cable design and 3D printed resin shell which are quite different to your typical earbud and they also look cool.

These are simple no fuss earbuds however with no fancy features or app for a curated listening experience but overall the sound is ok with a bright sound to them overall.

No tinny sound was noted and with a direct connection via USB-C no lag latency noted either and calls clear both ends.

The sound is what people want to know about and for me overall balanced no direction but fine on highs lows and mids when in certain genres and same with bass and an overall brighter listening experience. The earbuds come with a Hybrid Dual Driver
1 Dynamic Driver + 1 Balanced Armature Hybrid Dual Driver.

These would suit people who are on a budget or just do not care about the niceties you get with more expensive earbuds and I think the company is aiming at more of a market share with several other offerings at affordable prices to meet the masses.

You can control calls and the volume  play and pause with the inline remote and that is all you will find here which is basic but there is plenty out there who just like having basic to the points get the job done things and this is what these earbuds do.

3D Printing + Coloring Process
IgniteX Beast earphone shell is made using resin 3D printing, with a semi-transparent black finish. The faceplate of the earphone features flame elements, with flame textures created through modeling. After 3D printing, the design is spray-painted to give it a gradient effect of ‘Zyra’ and ‘Kuno,’ capturing the appearance of flames in mid-burn.

Tech Review – Ellie Baby Plus, Baby Monitor Pro

The Ellie Baby Plus, Baby Monitor Pro is a simple to set up and use camera for your home and given it is aimed at babies in the house this can be used for basic security for your pet or even elder parents/ grandparents if they have a need to be monitored which is great.

What is great with this kit is there is a tablet that comes with it and an app which bot replicate each other in most instances so for example if you are in one room and your baby or child in another you can carry the portable tablet with you which is well built and robust and simple to use just like the app and you can see both in action in the video review below and what to expect.

The app is full of features and has a good UI  and works both on Android and iOS giving you control be it at home or if you are away and you can set notifications if you wish to do so and not miss a thing.

There is a two way speaker system and you can clearly hear if you are either listening or speaking from your phone not only this there is a suite of options for babies such as lullabies to help them sleep if they are not settling down. You can also use the split screen mode if you are not with the child.

The camera is also quite cool with a themed toy shape and look and is silent when it is being moved around so it will not disturb your child or pet unless you speak through it.

The camera also offers zoom, large angle rotation, 360° room view, and automatic movement tracking. Features 2.5K QHD night vision and Pan-Tilt rotation and comes with local storage and no monthly fees which for me is a real bonus as most security cameras no require this and tease you into a 30 day trial with no SD card option so this is a huge win for me and certainly is for the customer.

Of course AI being the big buzzword now this camera also offer AI features such as covered face & rollover detection, breathing detection, sleep quality reports, danger zone detection, cry detection, auto-soothing, person tracking, and auto photo capture and also offer sleep  and breathing reports we do not have a baby to try this part out but I gently went over it with my dog who kindly participated in some of the review which was hard work.

Overall this is a superb product if you have a new baby and if you are expecting one this needs to be on your radar as it offer more than most in this category.

Ireland’s Digital Readiness Monitor Launched

.ie, the trusted national registry for over 330,000 domain names, has launched Ireland’s Digital Readiness Monitor, which analyses the level of digital sophistication of websites in Ireland, and has revealed that 36% of websites in Ireland have a low or very low level of sophistication.

Ireland’s Digital Readiness Monitor which includes websites using the .ie domain, as well as those using .com, .co.uk or any other extension, presents a comprehensive picture of Ireland’s digital readiness with research conducted by .ie in partnership with the Irish Institute of Digital Business, DCU and the JE Cairnes School of Business and Economics at University of Galway.

The Digital Readiness Monitor introduces a new national measure of digital readiness – the Web Technology Intensity Score (WTIS). The WTIS is comprised of eleven indicators that measure the digital readiness of organisations in Ireland including basic website; website with sophisticated functionality; websites with evidence of basic analytics, sophisticated analytics, social media integration, mobile optimisation, online advertising, sophisticated online advertising, internationalisation, selling online and cloud computing.

The Government’s digital strategy, Harnessing Digital: The Digital Ireland Framework, aims to position Ireland as a European and global digital leader. SMEs make up the majority of Irish businesses and the ability of Irish SMEs to adopt sophisticated digital technologies will be fundamental to increasing Ireland’s digital competitiveness.

The report reveals that 36% of websites in Ireland have a low or very low level of sophistication despite various Government grants and programmes to support digital advancement. A website and associated technologies are a proxy for an organisation’s degree of digitalisation, so this statistic demonstrates that SMEs’ websites are under-developed.

At the other end of the spectrum, one in four websites (27%) have a high or very high level of sophistication, showing there is considerable room for improvement.

Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Peter Burke said “Ireland has outlined its ambition to be a digital leader, reflecting the key role that digital technology does and will continue to play in shaping our competitiveness and driving productivity. The findings of this report demonstrates that we must continue to drive the digital agenda, ensuring digitalisation and technology remains a priority across all facets of Irish enterprise. My department has implemented a number of grants to support SMEs on their digital transformation – the Digital Transition Fund which will continue to be rolled out to 2026 is particularly supportive of SMEs while the Grow Digital portal is up and running to help businesses assess their digital needs. Together with my colleagues in Government, we remain committed to supporting enterprise in Ireland.”

Speaking on the report findings, David Curtin, Chief Executive at .ie said “The development of the WTIS measure marks a significant step forward in understanding the levels of sophistication of websites in Ireland. Despite the many Government supports in place, it is dispiriting to see that 36% of websites in Ireland have a low or very low Web Technology Intensity Score. For Irish SMEs, digital technologies present the potential of the ‘death of distance’, overcoming the limitations of location for Irish rural and urban businesses. However, there is evidence of a digital divide based on location, sector and size. In order to drive increased adoption of digital technologies by all businesses, but specifically micro SMEs with less than 10 employees, a supportive digital ecosystem optimised for SMEs is going to be required and we need the financial support of Government and key stakeholders to help make that happen.

 Online Advertising

  • Less than 1% of websites in Ireland make use of sophisticated online advertising tools which utilise targeting techniques to reach specific audience segments
  • The WTIS measured both basic and more sophisticated forms of online advertising being utilised by websites in Ireland

Social Media and Mobile Friendliness

  • The vast majority of websites in Ireland made use of social media integration on their websites
  • Facebook integrated into over 86% of websites analysed in 2021 and 74% in 2022 followed by Twitter (avg. 33%), Instagram (avg. 22%), LinkedIn (15%), and YouTube (13%)
  • Integrating social media into websites acts as a form of social proof, where users can see real-time interactions with the organisation. The motivation for more sophisticated use of social technologies includes increased access and reach to markets, cost reduction and process optimisation
  • It was also reassuring to see that Irish businesses recognise the value of mobile optimisation as part of their offering. While the percentage of domains optimised for mobile has dropped from 68% to 63%, the raw number of mobile-friendly domains has increased suggesting that Irish firms recognise the importance of mobile readiness. Google reports that for many advertisers, a substantial volume of website traffic comes from people on their mobile phones and visitors are five times more likely to leave a website that is not mobile-friendly

 Internationalisation

  • The WTIS measures foreign language support and foreign currency support as signals for internationalisation.
  • These factors indicate an organisation’s commitment to expanding its presence in the global market along with an ambition to move beyond local or regional markets
  • The Digital Readiness Monitor found that less than 10% of websites demonstrate evidence of international activity

Associate Dean of Research, DCU Business School, Professor Theo Lynn said “The Digital Readiness Monitor is a critical methodology and tool for understanding the digital landscape in Ireland. By establishing the Web Technology Intensity Score (WTIS), we can now quantitatively assess and track the digital sophistication and evolution of organisations across the country and compare it with other countries. This study not only highlights the gaps in digital adoption but also provides a roadmap for improvement. In a rapidly evolving digital economy, such insights are essential for guiding SMEs and other businesses in leveraging technology to enhance their competitiveness, both locally and on the global stage.”

Tech Review – ELECROW CrowView Note, Empower Your Devices as Laptops

The ELECROW CrowView Note is a 14-inch monitor with a built-in keyboard, touchpad, speakers, and microphone. Its all-in-one design simplifies setup, making it ideal for Raspberry Pi enthusiasts, office use, studios, and on-the-go.

Our use case is only USB-C and screen mirroring which we feel is best for our region and indeed it does what it says on the tin, I have to note you need a decently branded USC-C cable for this to work as several would not and you know how cables are these days you get what you pay for.

This simple plugs into your smartphone and the option to screen mirror your phone will pop up on screen and away you go, some apps will not work in landscape mode so be sure to check your entire needs first but for the most it works fine but not Instagram on candybar phones.

There is a simple settings page you can adjust to your own needs and then you can just work away as it was a laptop and a cost effective one, in short this brings your device to the bigger canvas making work easy on the go and of course making it easier on the larger screen and the you can do it in reverse if you wish which makes it great for multitasking.

There is a decent picture here too and decent speakers so for media consumption you are good to go with little set up required and at an affordable price.

Tech Review – Quntis Monitor Light bar with RGB Backlight

Quntis is a brand who have simple affordable lighting solutions for your home or office inside and out, we have tested several over the years and their latest edition is one for gamers and those who just use their pc/laptop at home or in the office, this is a well built product and simple to use which is great. It is a slender bar that just sits on top of your pc/laptop and you are in full control of what way to use it so if you are a gamer or just a casual user or even both this is ideal for you to get your work done.

This is more aimed at gamers but regular users can also use this and it is even better if your keyboard is not backlit as it can shine the right amount of light down on the keys and you can control the light temperature and it does not effect your eyes either.

If you are a gamer you are in for more of a treat as it emits RGB lights from the rear or front whichever suits you nest as it can be changed to suit your requirements. What is also notable about this the light will not take over the whole room, just your space you are in which again would suit many people and you will not be disturbing anyone else in the same room as it will not light the entire room and just your own personal space with cool lighting effects.
